Unusual Love #7
#8 of Unusual Love
"Ugh... morning already?" Lucy groaned as she heard her alarm go off. She lifted herself off of her bed to see that the sun wasn't up all the way yet. Wiping the gunk out of her eyes, she walked over to her bathroom and took a shower. After that, she got dressed and went down to greet her mother who was in the middle of making breakfast.
"Well well well, mornin' sleepy head!" her mom said. Lucy mumbled an inaudible response. "You wouldn't be so tired if you didn't stay up all night talking to Sam. I'll bet he's as tired as you are right now. Come on, have a seat and eat up or you'll be late."
Lucy thought about what she said for a second. She giggled as much as an exhausted cat could and remembered something about Sam. He had once said that he has learned when he is most awake, Sometime between 11 at night and 3 in the morning. No matter how much he slept, he was always tired throughout the rest of the day. Which was true, as far as Lucy knew. When they went to break into her house, he was more alert than she had ever seen him. (He really is a weird guy...) she thought to herself.
Lucy's mom (let's call her... Rachel) was driving Lucy to school. It was only a few minutes before they reached the entrance. With a cheery "good luck", Rachel let Lucy walk into the second semester. As she walked through the halls, everything looked the same. Same people, same lockers, same faulty lighting. However, in Lucy's mind everything was different. She had alienated most of the school when she ran up to Sam after the fight and had pushed away her former best friend Cindy when she ignored her then tackled her. No... nothing was the same.
She wandered around until she found her new first period class when her heart jumped. Sam was sitting by himself in a corner of the room. Her room. Lucy was so thrilled that she didn't seem to notice the few others that were in the room. She struggled to keep her composure but was clearly shaking with excitement. She hurriedly walked to the desk next to Sam, and before she could say anything, he said, "Hey." Lucy was a little thrown off since he was staring out the window and couldn't possibly know someone was there.
"H-hi, Sam. Uh... how did you know it was me?" Lucy questioned.
Sam slowly turned his body around in the chair. Even though his shirt covered most of his body, bandages could still be seen above his collar and covering his hands. "That's an easy one. No one else would ever come up to me that excited unless I won the lottery. Besides, it was very quiet, but you were whimpering." (What?!?) "Anyway, looks like we're in the same homeroom together. Take a look at this schedule. Can you believe that I have to take Calculus already?" Sam said as he handed over the piece of paper.
Lucy carefully examined his schedule, then a thought occurred (Why does this look so familiar?). It was only a matter of seconds before she whipped he schedule out of her bag and compared the two. Except for calculus, they had the same exact classes and lunch period. She couldn't hide her excitement, "Look! It's the same! We can see each other almost all day!"
"Calm down there, stalker girl. But that is kind of funny. It's almost as if someone is writing the events that are occurring in our everyday lives... seems really lazy to put us in the same classes though, doesn't it?" Sam stated.
It was only the first day of classes, so not much was happening. Teachers were handing out paperwork for information and just going over the general curriculum for the semester. Lucy was bored out of her mind for the most part, but since she could always find a seat next to Sam, she was content. It wasn't long before the lunch bell rang. This is when things got interesting.
As usual (for the last few days at least) Lucy was holding on tightly to Sam's arm, carefully avoiding any bandaged areas. They were walking to the lunch room when Sam made a sudden stop in the hall. He laughed as he looked at a set of lockers. "Come on, let's have a little fun." he said as he strolled over. There was a group of wolves at the locker, all whispering to someone. Lucy's eyes widened in horror as she saw Mark. Of course, Mark's eyes widened in horror as he saw Sam. The wolf had stitches all over his face, two blackened eyes, and a plethora of other injuries to his whole body. Sam laughed, "So did my blood wash out okay?"
Mark was speechless and his mouth was wide open. The other wolves around him tried to make a little wall in front of Mark, but were too scared to defend him. "Now, I believe you owe an apology." Sam said sternly.
"I-I'm sorry, Sam. I shou-"
Sam was angry now, "Not to me cocksucker, to the girl you tried to kill the other day!" Mark was terrified. Not only at Sam, but his friends were now turning on him. "Come on, Lucy, I wanna get a good spot in line." Sam said, now as calm as he always was.
The lunch lines were long, but the couple didn't wait. Jim and Mark's friends were quick at spreading the word about what had happened, so people led them to the front. Lucy was confused. On Friday, she was a nobody like Sam. Now, she was popular again. (Either way, I'm starving.) People from all over were asking the two to sit at their table, some offering food, others money. Sam chuckled as he kept walking, coming to a table with two open seats. Around the table was Jim, a rabbit (Jen), and a lizard (Marlene).
"How's it goin' everyone?" Sam said to the concerned audience. After a quick look around, he asked, "What?"
"Are you okay?" said Jen in a weak voice. "Jim told us what had happened, and you almost died. Shouldn't you be home?"
"Yeah," chimed in Marlene, "you normally take any excuse to stay home. Why's today diff'rent?"
Jim spoke up, "Calm down everybody. Is that any way to greet a friend? Come on, you two. Take a seat." The couple did so and started to eat. Lucy was still a little confused. "Ladies, this is Lucy. You probably already know her, so don't treat her like crap. Now, Sam, when are we gonna meet up again. We've all been bored out of our minds." (What does he mean, 'meet up'?)
Sam leaned back in his chair, oblivious to the countless eyes trained on him, and said, "How about Friday? You saw some of the goodies I got. And we haven't quite finished what we started, now have we? Oh, and Lucy, see if you can come to my apartment. I guarantee it'll be fun." Lucy nodded then looked around to see the ecstasy on their faces. They did something every once in a while, (but what?)
Lucy leaned over towards Marlene and asked, "What exactly happens on Friday?"
Marlene looked a little shocked that someone like Lucy was talking to her, and her scales gained a red tint. She explained, "Well, every once in a while we get together and hang out in Sam's apartment. Sometimes we stay up all night. Most of the time, we play games and watch movies. We do other things too, but they generally occur during the games and movies. We've been playing Defiance: Fall of Man for the past two times. Jen and I suck, but we alternate whenever someone dies. So far, Sam and Jim are unstoppable. They set it to hard, so even they are having trouble. Otherwise, they would have beat in it a few hours."
Jen traded seats with Sam so she could sit next to Lucy. Lucy now asked Jen, "I have a question for both of you. I know that anthros and humans don't like each other, but why are you all so friendly with him?"
Jen was the first to answer, "Easy, because he is awesome. We're the geeks of the school, we've never been popular. One day after school, some of the jocks were picking on us and Sam came out of nowhere. He's a loner, so we didn't talk with him much. One of the jocks walked up to him and before we could blink he was on the ground. He's a hero! Geeky, but not a geek, jocky but not a jock, it's like he came from another dimension! And now because of him, we have you to talk to! It's amazing!" her weak voice made Sam seem even better that Lucy knew.
Jim talked to everyone, "Alright... who's the victim today?" (Victim?)
Marlene spoke up, "Sam! Sam! Do her! The girl at the table over there!"
Sam laughed and stared at her for a while. Lucy watched in curiosity, wondering what he was about to do. "Alright, let's see. right now, she's either texting on her phone or masturbating."
"How do you know that?" asked Lucy.
"Easy" Sam said as he lifted his arm. "When I flex a finger, the muscles in the lower arm tighten and move. Now, just watch and be amazed. Okay... unless she finished already, she is definitely texting. This means she'll be distracted. She leaving, but her pocket is vibrating. I really hope I'm wrong. Her eyes... they want to answer the phone very badly. Her muscles are tense." Sam looked ahead of where she was walking, then continued, "She's gonna trip, on that wet puddle of brown goo. Wait for it... wait for it..."
The girl thrust her hand into her pocket and read the message. She started to text, but just as Sam had predicted, She stepped right in the center of the puddle and comically fell on her back. Everyone at the table was laughing, even Lucy.
It was the end of the day, and Lucy was happy. She met new friends, who were very nice, and she got to spend quality time with Sam. "I can really come this Friday, right?" Lucy asked.
"Of course. Just bring something comfortable to wear. It'll be a long night. Oh, by the way, I should probably pick up my system from you house. It'd be kinda hard to play games and watch movies without anything to play games or watch movies on."
Lucy smiled, "Yeah, but before you take it back, can we play that game together again?"
Sam smiled in return, "Sure, why not?"

Get it? Switch Defiance with Resistance. Don't get it? Buy the awesome game. Alrighty then, I was actually able to write this. Simple things are happening right now, but what will happen on Friday? Probably not in real time, but in-story Friday? Will The whole gang be there? Will Lucy wear something comfortable? Will a meteor the size of the USA come crashing into earth? Oh, I got a good one. Will Cindy appear? Find out next time, whenever that may be.
