#6 of Unusual Love

It was already 11 am and Lucy had been out of the bed for over thirty minutes. Sam was still lying down because he had said earlier that he had trouble waking up. Lucy terror from the night before was now quickly replaced by overwhelming joy as she got in the shower. ( He spent the night with me! Not only that, but he risked jail time for me! He's perfect!)

A little later, she went to her room with a towel wrapped around her body only to jump when she saw Sam staring at her. " What are you doing!? You can't see me naked!" She screamed.

Sam let out a low laugh," What? You think that I'm only here to see your body? Ha ha ha... silly girl. A nude body is just like any other. Nothing about it holds any part of my attention, save for serious injuries. But, I'll leave if you want." It was almost like he was mocking her.

"O-oh... is that all? Sorry, sorry I thought you may be like everyone else."

Sam gave a hearty chuckle before saying," Would you really group me in with the horny bastards? I thought you were different." Sam got up and walked towards the door," You really shouldn't be so judgemental."

Lucy hurriedly got dressed. She had plans today for Sam, and she wouldn't let him slip away. She ran down the stairs wearing elegant, but still casual clothing and jumped on Sam, careful to avoid the same mistake she made last time. He was sitting on the couch. " Now listen up, you," She said, pretending to be stern," We are going to the mall to shop for clothes, and you'll like it mister!" ( Yes! It's working! He's freaking out!) she thought.

She was on his lap, staring at him from a close distance. Sam looked startled, but he said in his clear and calm voice, " Am I going to get a spanking if I don't come?" He raised his eyebrow suggestively after he finished. It was Lucy who was confused now. She tried to think of a witty response, but her mind stopped working. Sam saw something in her, and continued," Well, I guess I'll go anyway. I wanted to get a new game or two." Lucy smiled and hugged him tightly.

She stopped for a brief second to say," Don't do that again, or I will punish you."

" I'm looking forward to it."

They were walking for a while, familiar streets for Lucy. She gripped Sam's hand tightly and leaned against his arm as they traveled. They received strange looks from just about everyone they met, anthros and humans alike. Lucy became increasingly aware of their presence as they crossed the street near the mall. She felt vibrations coming from Sam and looked up. ( He's laughing!? How can he be so calm in this situation!) Sam leaned down and whispered," You wanna make them really pissed?" Lucy nodded, taking note of his creepy smile. He stopped moving, waited for a second so more could see them, then grabbed Lucy's face. Sam pulled her in for a kiss.

At first, Lucy didn't want to because of the angry people, but after a few seconds she gave in and wrapped her arms around him. Her tail lightly flicked the air as the onlookers grew more shocked by the second. Sam stopped and Lucy knew that he saw her blushing. She gave a weak smile, then melted in his arms. ( He was right... who needs a brain when you're in love?)

Lucy eventually reached back into consciousness and dragged Sam into a Canadian Hawk store. Lucy was happy because she hadn't been shopping in a while and really needed to catch up with new fashions. She quickly jumped from rack to rack, looking at clothes and asking Sam if she would look good in the things she picked up. Every time she looked at Sam, she saw him holding his ears shut and cringing at something. The first time she asked him what bothered him, he simply said," This music makes me want to cut off my ears." Lucy laughed and danced to the music, because she thought it would annoy him.

" I think I woke up your awesome side. Dancing just to mock me? I love it." He said as they exited. Next up was Nauticalpostle.

Same theme, same music, same clothes, just a different logo. Lucy acted the same way, and bought some shirts and a skirt, paying around $200. Sam looked at the bag when they left the store and had to ask," What the... I mean seriously... those clothes better be covered in gold and silver. $200! I haven't spent that much at one time on any amount of clothing!"

Lucy gave a giggle, with a sinister look on her face," Oh poor poor Sam. Have you never bought anything quite as exquisite as these clothes? I must take you shopping for a new wardrobe one day, your rags aren't nearly god enough for someone of your standing."

(Yes! How's he like it when the tables are turned on him?) She thought as she laughed. Lucy wanted to see the look on his face when he was defeated, to gloat in it more. Her smile left when she saw him smiling. " Well, Miss Lucy, I'd rather wear crappy clothes that are worth a decent price than crappy clothes that cost five times as much." He laughed now," I mean, seriously, feel that shirt that you just bought, then feel mine. My shirt is twice as thick, and significantly cheaper! Ah... but to each his own." Lucy was dumbfounded.

They continued walking in the mall, enduring the accusing looks. Sam stopped in front of a game store, and told Lucy to come on in. Lucy kept her composure, but her mind was alight with thoughts, ( Geeks! Everywhere! They all look so strange... like they don't care what people think about them.) She was holding her bags and standing in the entrance for a whole minute before she noticed that Sam wasn't there. She frantically looked around for him and found him looking at a wall of games. She made her way over, before she was stopped by something. A young squirrel girl was reaching up for a game on a rack, but couldn't quite make it. Lucy grabbed the game the girl was looking at and handed it to her. the girl's face lit up as she said," Thank you, miss!" and ran off to her mother.

The music that was playing was much different from what she was used to. It varied across all genres and was completely random. Lucy decided to stand next to Sam while he was searching, and caught herself looking at a game herself. It had bright characters on the cover, and on the back, it had pictures of what the game play looked like. You could make your own character and fight evil monsters. In the bottom corner she noticed that it said 1-2 players, and she wondered if Sam would play it with her. She looked at him expectantly, and noticed that he was carrying a game already. " Um, Sam?" she asked coyly," W-would you... uh... play this game with me?"

Sam giggled a bit," Of course, but you'll have to buy it." Lucy was thrilled once again. After about five minutes and two more racks of games later, Sam had two games to buy. They walked to the counter together to the rabbit cashier.

" Hey, Sam. I thought you didn't work on weekends?" ( He works here!?) "Oh, my bad. Buyin' some games. Oh, you know I heard that this was awesome. The graphics and..." The two guys continued on for a while, using terms that Lucy had never heard before. She could only determine that Sam was buying good games. After Sam paid, the cashier turned to her," Oh! You're Lucy, from school, right?" She nodded.

" Yeah, use my employee discount, Jim." Sam said. Lucy paid and was still a little confused, but she now understood how he felt when she was buying clothes.

They walked for a while, and Sam offered to hold the bags. Lucy handed them over, but had a weird shiver run up her spine. She turned around, noticing that Sam had done the same thing, to see that Cindy and Mark were standing about ten feet behind them. " Lucy! Get away from him! Mark, go get him!" yelled Cindy. This drew the attention of the crowds.

Mark was a wolf, so he could run faster than most. He charged at Sam, who calmly handed the bags to Lucy. " Bring it on, bitch." he said, but his smile was erased by a confused look. He looked down, as Lucy stared in horror at his stomach. A knife was protruding from it, and Mark had a pissed look on his face.

" Lucy! Run! Go with Cindy and get out of here!" Mark grabbed Lucy's arm and tugged at her, but she didn't budge. Mark pulled out the knife and Sam stumbled backwards. Lucy dropped the bags. Something inside of her snapped. The Sam inside her snapped. She clawed Mark's face, leaved shallow cuts in it. " What the hell are you doing! I'm trying to help-" he was cut off when Lucy tackled into him. Lucy continued to claw at Mark, knowing that she couldn't do much. Mark jumped out of her reach. " Fine, if you won't see reason, then I'll have to make you!" He yelled as he lunged at Lucy, knife in hand.

Lucy stopped. ( Is this how I'm going to go? Stabbed by someone I hate? But... if Sam goes... I'll go too!) she gathered her remaining courage and let the fire in her soul burn brightly. Out of the corner of her eye, a figure dashed in front of her, and took the knife in his chest, most likely piercing his heart. It was Sam.

" Don't you dare lay a finger on her!" he said with a ferocity he had never shown before. He grabbed Mark by the shoulders and threw him and the knife through a glass display in the mall. Blood poured out of his chest, but he didn't seem to notice. " Come on! You want to kill a girl, right!? They try to kill me first!" He must have jumped twenty feet at Mark, who was startled by Sam's strength. He landed on Mark and began to savagely beat him. Cindy ran to his aid, but the fire inside Lucy was still burning. She ran after her and sent her sprawling into a store. The onlookers did nothing more than call the police.

Mark collapsed on his side, and Sam staggered towards Lucy. He displayed a weak smile on his face before succumbing to his wounds. Lucy ran over to him, catching him in her arms. His breathing was short and strained. A few men from the side came over, a horse, a human, and a squirrel. They tried to see if the could help, but Lucy covered Sam's body in a panicked state," Get away from him!" she screamed," Don't touch him!" Another guy ran over, but she continued to scream.

" Is h-he gonna be alright?" came the terrified, but familiar voice. Lucy looked through tear-filled eyes to see that Jim was there.

Sam tried to talk, but coughed up blood. He tried again, with more success." Jim... get... her... to.. her ... home. Protect... her..."

Lucy screamed louder now," Don't go! Don't leave me here alone!"

Sam smiled again," Silly... girl. You think that coward... that coward... can kill me?" he said as his head fell limp in her hands. The paramedics were rushing over.

Lucy let out a final piercing cry," Noooooooooooo!"

Depressing, I know. But sometimes it has to happen. Both story lines lead to this point. But, will Sam survive? Will Lucy have someone she can hold close to her? Will her desperate plea for help be heard? Find out, most likely on May 14, when I have some free time. Also, leave some comments. I like to know what the people and furries feel about the story so far. Please?

Unusual Love #6

Lucy was still shaking when Jim drove her home. The things that had just happened were too much to bear for her, and she wasn't sure how to react. She had seen her boyfriend stabbed, her friend Mark beaten into a coma, and Lucy herself had tackled her...
