Kyle awoke slowly to the sounds of bird chirping in the woods. He yawned slowly kicking his legs out and moving his arms. His right arm brushed something and he opened his eyes, to be met with a pair of bright blue eyes.

"Morning cutey*

Kyle bolted upright, startling Ruby. As she fell back she grabbed a hold of Kyle's sleeping bag, pulling him up and landing on top of her.

"OOOF! Wow someone's eager to start there next lesson!"

She giggled as Kyle squirmed, trying his best to get untangled and off of her

"You scared me!"

She smirked and tapped him on the nose.

"If you're so startled what's that poking me through your sleeping bag?"

Kyle immediately froze up, his face bright red.

"T..tha...that's just...erm..."

Luckily, well for Kyle at least, his attempts at finding an excuse for his morning *excitement* were interrupted by the sounds of loud yelling. Ruby huffed and got off of him, standing up and moving towards the entrance of the tent. Kyle took this opportunity to untangle himself from his sleeping bag, using it to cover over half of his body while he calmed down. Ruby peeked out of the tent and then pulled her head back in, sighing.

"You better get dressed your brother has decided to rejoin us.."

Kyle nodded and began to get dressed, using the sleeping bag as a temporary wall to cover his modesty. He finished quickly, pulling on a shirt and trousers combo and turned around.

"Right ready to...guhhhhh"

It seemed that Ruby did not share the modesty that Kyle had; removing her night shirt to give him a full view of her two perfectly sized D cup assets. She grinned, putting on her bra and pulling on a simple vest. She walked over to him and gently put her paw under his chin.

"Darling, you look cute but you're going to catch flies in that chasm"

He blinked and then quickly shut his mouth, blushing and turning his head away. She chuckled gently and opened the tent, motioning for him. He quickly moved out into the open to find Roman sitting calmly on a log reading a book while Carbon, still bound in his sleeping bag, shouted a number of profanities at him, plus a few new ones that he felt needed adding to the dictionary.

"YOU UNTIE ME NOW YOU STUPID WINGED BASTARD!"

Roman turned a page in his book and spoke calmly.

"Are you going to calm down Mr Carbon?"

"CALM DOWN!? IM GOING TO KICK YOUR ARSE YOU BLOODY LIZARD!"

Roman continued to read his book, not even looking up as Kyle and Ruby approached.

"Ah, you two are awake, Ruby, I will need your help in training Kyle today, and he needs to have a good basis in combat before we even think of continuing our journey.

Carbon growled loudly and looked at Kyle.

"Listen here; you better untie me this instance pinkie!"

Roman closed his book and stood up.

"Mr Carbon, I have tried to be reasonable with you, please understand that out of your town, the term *pinkie* is considered highly racist and could land you in trouble, now if you calm down I promise I will release you this second, but I must also warn you that if you attempt anything that may befall harm to myself or my fellow accomplice and student then I am afraid I will have to ...incapacitate... you permanently, do you understand?"

At hearing this, Carbon immediately stopped his ranting; he continued to growl but nodded curtly. Roman walked forward and gently untied him, pulling the rope from him and holding out his hand to help him up. The wolf grunted and ignored him, getting to his feet and brushing himself down.

"Can someone explain what the fuck is going on? Where are we?"

Roman cleared his throat.

"Well, to answer your first question, you have been unconscious for two days after receiving a blow to the head from a Mr Hog, well suffice to say your assailant has been dealt with but unfortunately, in the ensuring chaos your house was burnt to the ground. As for your second question, this woodland is known as Terinar forest and has been our camp for the those days in which you were unconscious"

The wolf opened his mouth to begin an inquiry into how exactly his house had caught fire when Kyle chimed in.

"Excuse me, but you said student?"

The dragon turned towards Kyle and nodded.

"Yes Kyle that is correct, you will be a student of both myself and Miss Ruby"

The human stared at the dragon, a look of confusion on his face.

"Student? What you mean like schooling and stuff?"

"Well in a way, yes. What we will be teaching you is different from what you learned back in school, we will be teaching you about such arts as combat, archery, and of course our main goal, magic"

Ruby grinned and playfully shoved Kyle

"Yeah, what we got to teach you they don't teach in any normal school Kyle"

The human scratched his head and looked away from them both. Ruby tilted her head.

"Kyle?"

The human muttered something barely legible.

"C'mon Kyle, I may be a wolf but not even canine hearing could pick that up what's wrong?"

The human sighed and cleared his throat.

"I've never been to school"

Roman immediately looked up.

"I'm sorry?"

The human nodded his head sheepishly.

"I've never been schooled, what I know I picked up myself, I was only taught to read and write because Carbon deemed them useful to him"

The dragon's fist clenched as he slowly turned towards a nervous Black wolf

"You mean to tell me that he hasn't even received basic schooling?"

The wolf nodded gently and gulped, seconds later yelping loudly as the dragon roared and ignited his hands.

"If there's one thing I can't stand...its someone being denied the right to learn!"

The wolf trembled and spluttered.

"P..Please! I wanted him to go but they wouldn't let him in! They viewed him as a waste of time!"

Roman looked ready to incinerate the wolf on the spot but stopped when Ruby stepped in front of the tremberling wolf.

"Look, so we have to teach Kyle a little more than just combat, big deal, you're smart anyway scaly, I can't even count the number of times you bored me with your long winded explanations of things"

The dragons rage slowly subsided and the flames extinguished. He cleared his throat and turned towards the human.

"My apologies Kyle, I'm afraid intolerance of learning is what you would call a bit of a pet peeve of mine, I would be glad to educate you about the world as well"

Kyle nodded meekly and rubbed his arm awkwardly; Roman saw this and stared at him.

"You ok Kyle?"

The human noticed him staring and stopped, nodding his head.

"Yeah sorry, just my arms been a bit itchy for the last few days that's all"

"I see..."

The dragon looked deep in thought for a moment and then nodded.

"Ok, now id like all three of you to come with me and we will begin by finding what weapon style suits you Kyle"

The three followed the dragon through the woods until they came across a small clearing. Roman stopped and nodded, turning towards the trio.

"Now, there are many different types of weapon in the world Kyle, ranging from the simplest of daggers through to more complex weapons such as chain swords and ring blades, but for starters we will be teaching you with a simple one handed shortsword"

Roman reaches for his belt and unsheathes a small shortsword, the blades shine suggesting recently crafted. He held it out and Kyle stepped forward, taking the blade and examining it.

"Erm, Roman shouldn't we be practicing with dummy blades first?"

He shook his head.

"I believe that in order to truly become effective with your weapon of choice, you must spend as much time as possible training with it, and learning its strength and weakness. Each blade is different Kyle, you must learn each subtle weight and flaw, so as to better use it in real combat"

The dragon then raised his hand and flame erupted from his palm, the flame spread and took shape of a large claymore type weapon, the flames dissipated and he stood there holding a large blade, runic patterns spread down the blade and the hilt glowed with the ember colour of a raging inferno.

"This is my own personal blade, an extension of my mastery over flames, its name is Incinius"

Kyle gulped and took a step back.

"You can't expect me to fight you with that!"

A feint smile crossed the dragon's muzzle.

"No, I was just showing you that today I will not be using my preferred weapon"

At hearing this human let out a sigh of relief and watched as Roman took out a smaller, more common blade similar to his own.

"Now the first step is to learn the weight and feel of your blade, swing it a few times, feel the drag through the air, the resistance of the blade"

Kyle did what was instructed and swiped at the air a few times, trying different approaches, some from his left hand, some from his much preferred right hand.

"Good, sometimes you may be forced to fight using your offhand or a different stance that is why it is essential to practice both hands and types of movement"

Kyle nodded and began to try more complex movements, using varying amounts of strength in his swipes and trying to switch his standing and positioning.

Meanwhile, as the two practiced, Carbon slowly shuffled up towards Ruby.

"I believe we got off on the wrong foot miss?"

"The names Ruby, and if you think you can talk me into your bed you're going to be in for a painful journey"

Carbon smiled and feigned hurt.

"Miss please, I am not that kind of wolf, I wouldn't dream of making a pass at a beautiful wolfess such as yourself"

She turned towards him and laughed.

"You realise how stupid you sound? Don't think I diddent see your attempts to get to know that rabbit back in the bar in Nohan idiot"

At hearing this, Carbons smile disappeared and he scowled.

"Ohhh, sorry princess, didn't realise that I hadn't met your standards...I mean get real darling, I'm probably the best chance you got of getting any, I mean look at them two, an overgrown lizard and a hairless ape"

She growled and her paw went for her belt.

"Watch it dick, those two are twice the male you will ever be runt!"

He laughed at her and flexed an arm, showing off his muscles.

"Or what, you will throw a hissy fit?"

Suddenly, she grabs him and slams him up against a tree, a small curved blade pressed against his chest.

"Or I will take great pleasure in ripping out your insides prick"

The pair were interrupted by a cough, turning around, Ruby notices that both Kyle and Roman had stopped practicing and were staring at them.

"Is there a problem Miss Ruby?"

She growled and slowly let the wolf go, staring daggers at him.

"Nothing, just making sure he knows his place"

Roman nodded and continued his teachings. Ruby watched the pair sparring, her gaze drawn towards Kyle. *Kid has not had it easy at all....now thrust into this madness...is it fair to use him like this?* she pondered. *No, this has to happen, he's the only one, and it's his destiny to shape our world...*

The four of them stopped for lunch, relaxing in the clearing and eating some of the venison they had stockpiled from their hunting trip. Carbon grumbled as he looked at the three of them talking, staring at Ruby.

"Fuck this..."

He got up suddenly, staring at all three of them.

"You know what, take him I don't care, I'm going back to Nohan to salvage what's left of my life"

He barely moved an inch when an arrow made contact with his side.

(Well its been a long time since i posted anything, let alone anything to do with this story arc. Truth is I havent exactly been of sound mind much to write until recently, what with a break up, then followed by a break down (Thats almost funny) But yeah anyway, enjoy if your reading, let us know what you think through that swanky comment section at the bottom, and lets see if we can get this series back on track.)
