Ch15. Dream

Kyo could hear it clearly. Water, running water, it was a river. He opened his eyes as he looked to the side, the water was flowing peacefully past him. He reached out and felt the thin grass that he was laying in. He recognized this place as he sat up, he looked back behind him to see a waterfall that was tall and majestic. He smiled as he got up and walked over to the side edge. He placed his hands on the stone and pulled himself up to start his climb, it took him a while to climb up the side of the cliff, when he reached the top the vision of when he jumped off it flew threw his mind. He stood at the same spot that he leapt off to try and get away from the wolves that caught him.

After a while he turned and headed into the woods as memories of his past danced in his head. He lost track and how far he had walked when he saw that he had reached the edge of his old village. His smile widened as he saw that it looked as if it wasn't touched. Kyo walked down between the buildings as he saw kids running around laughing and having a good time, Parents were busy mingling with each other and trading goods.

He stood in the center and took in the scenery when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Marcos standing by him smiling. "How have you been kid." He said

Kyo tried his best to hide his emotions but he couldn't help it when he jumped at the human and wrapped his arms around him. Kyo felt the human place his hand on his head, as he wrapped his other arm around onto his back.

Kyo just held onto him as tears of joy started to flow from his eyes. It struck him, the vision of when he stood on the rock and saw his elder fall, Kyo slowly pulled back and looked up to the human. "This isn't real." He said softly.

Icewaver sat beside Kyo's body as he stroked the human's hair. For the past day he hasn't really touched the meals he was given or talked to others. Once in a while he would leave to go outside and walk around but he would soon return to his pup.

"Sweetie." He heard, he didn't even need to turn to see who it was to know that it was his mother. "Can you please come and help me for a sec." Icewaver just nodded as he leaned forward and kissed the human on the cheek before leaving the room.

"What you need help with?" he asked.

She wrapped her arms around his so that he was now an escort as she smiled up at him. "Carrying things from the market."

Icewaver just sighed as he followed his mother out of the palace and into town.

Marcos smiled at Kyo as he lead him threw the village. "You're right, this is just a dream caused by your mind."

Kyo looked around as he saw the kids run around playing and having a good time. "But everything seems so real."

Marcos giggled at his comment. "You're unconscious so it's only natural."

Everything came back to him as he remembered that he had been stabbed by Talons. He looked down at his chest and saw that there was not even a mark from the knife. "Kyobe-bear." He heard all of a sudden. Kyo didn't want to look up as he knew that voice anywhere, he started to sniff as he held back the tears. 'This is so mean.' He thought. He just stood in one spot as he felt two arms wrap his arms from behind. Kyo just rested his hand on the two small arms.

"How has my kyobe-bear been?" The voice asked.

Kyo out the corner of his eye to see Marcos smile and started to walk away. "I've been good....Mama." he said softly.

Icewaver stood patiently near his mother as she was looking at necklaces. "That one looks exquisite on you my lady." The wolf behind the counter said trying to make a sale.

She shook her head and places the item back on the table and moved on. "Ok, I needed to talk to you in private about a serious matter." She said as she picked up some earrings.

Icewaver looked confused as he looked around as seen the busy streets. "Umm...you call this private."

She smiled and looked back at her son. "From the politics and those who can spread rumors in the palace...yes."

Icewaver sighed as he watched his mother pay for the earrings and handed him the box that contains them. "We all know that your sister is now gone, you older brother has a family to take care of, so now you are next to be alpha." She said.

The big wolf laid his ears down against his head. "I know that." He said "But the thing is I haven't even started to train and study like my brother has."

His mother didn't even look at him as she found a stand with skirts. "That's true, your brother could still become alpha if he so chooses. Right now though, the position is going to you."

"But..." he said as he looked up at the sky as he tried to hold back his tears. "Then I can't be with pup can I."

The female wolf paused, as she looked down at the ground. "I don't know, I do know is that you will need to find a mate and have pups. If she accepts the fact that you love your slave then all will be fine but if not then you might have to get rid of him."

Icewaver just shook his head. "Then I don't want the position." He flatly said.

His mother came up to him. "I know but yo..."

"I won't lose him!" he yelled, wolves and slaves started to look at him as he just stood by his mom when she walked up to him and wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close.

"I know you don't. I..." She sighed finding defeat on the matter. "Let's get something to eat."

Before he could protest and head back to Kyo she grabbed his arm and took him to his favorite tavern. They walked inside and took a seat and the female wolf from before came up to them with her big smile. "Hello my lord and lady, umm...where is pup?" She asked.

Icewaver looked as if he was about to break down, he didn't want to answer her. "He's not doing well." Icewaver looked up and saw his mother talking to the wolf and gave her a brief tail on what happened. The wolf gasped and quickly went over and hugged Icewaver.

"I'm so sorry, he'll get better I know he will."

Icewaver just hugged the wolf back. "I hope he will."

The female wolf stood up and put on a big smile. "I have just the thing for both of you, on the house."

His mother bowed her head in appreciation. "Thank you so much."

The female wolf bowed and ran off into the back. Icewaver slowly turned his gaze around and stared out the window, he could clearly see the palace from his seat, Kyo was all he could think of while he waited for his meal to arrive.

Kyo slowly walked side by side his mother as they went through the woods to their cabin. "So tell me about this wolf that caught your heart."

The human looked at his mother in shock. "How did..." He couldn't help but smile. "Oh yeah, forgot it's my dream."

She smiled as the two reached the door and he opened it for her, "Well where should I start?" He said as he entered the house after his mom. They both sat at the table in the dining room. "He's kind, caring, strong, and at times still a puppy."

His mother giggled as she straightened out her long brown dress while sitting down. "He almost sounds like you at times." Kyo thought for a moment and realized that they both share a lot of personalities. "Kyobe-bear." She said, Kyo looked up at his mother, "I'm going to tell you that in the future he is going to make a decision."

Kyo got a stern look. "Mother, what do you mean?"

His mother got a sad look in her eyes, "You'll see when the time comes, and when it does you'll help him by accepting the choices that he is going to make." She said as she placed her hand on her son's. "It might not be the ones you'll like but in the end everything will work out." Kyo closed his eyes and nodded.

"Stop scaring the boy wench." His strong voice came from the door. Kyo quickly turned at see a tall bearded man standing at the door way with a smile and his arms crossed. "Well are you just going to sit there or are you going to give your dad a hug." Kyo didn't need any more influence as he bolted out of his chair and wrapped his arms around his father. His eyes were closed tightly but tears still managed to seep through them.

Kyo looked up at the man and smiled. "How have you been papa?" He asked.

He ruffled his son's hair. "Well seeing how you're the one in bed unconscious, I guess I'm doing pretty damn good." He laughed, Kyo couldn't help but giggle. "Come." Kyo's old man said as he walked outside and Kyo followed him out and into the woods.

Icewaver sat patiently until the wolf came back with two bowls of beef stew. "Here you go sweet heart." She said as she took the bowls off the metal tray and placed it in front of both of them. She gave them both a comforting smile before leaving the wolves in peace.

Icewaver at first didn't want to eat, he saw his mother staring at him with a stern look. He looked down and began eating without a word, his mother smiled while she continued to eat her meal as well. All was going well, the two wolves finished their meals and were waiting for their waitress to return to thank her for the meal. "So di..." his mother started before Icewaver interrupted her.

"I'm not going to be alpha, not now or ever." He said flatly while staring out of the window. He heard a sigh come from his mother.

She flattened her ears as she thought for a moment. "You need to think of the opportunity, not every day you get the chance to rule you know."

"It's not every day you find the one person you want to spend the rest of your life with either." He replied.

Icewaver's mother was about to say something before once again she was interrupted. "You fucking flea bag." They both heard, Icewaver looked behind him to see a wolf standing with her hands on her hips. Icewaver just growled and looked the other way back out the window. "Why haven't you answered my apology letters." she yelled.

Icewaver sighed, "Maybe because I haven't been home in the past few weeks. I was away but..." He glared at her. "You wouldn't know that since you fucked things up for you Soften."

The hair on the back of her neck rose as she barred her teeth. "You fuc..." she started before they heard a slam on the table.

They looked at the source and saw Icewaver's mother had her fist on the table. "Who do you think you are?"

"Oh..." Soften said as she cocked her head to the side. "You have your bitch fight for you now?" She asked to Icewaver even though she was looking at his mom.

Icewaver's mother stood while she showed her teeth and snarled. "I am the alpha's wife Heavshal." Soften jaw dropped, her ears were flat against her head to the point they looked as if they had been cut off. "I only belong to one wolf..." She yelled. "This is my son and high ranking wolf. If you don't watch your mouth and address us properly tramp, then I'll have your tail chopped off and shoved down your throat so that you can't talk or fit another cock down that wind pipe again." Icewaver eyes widen as a small smile came across his face. Every wolf in the tavern that was paying attention to the small quarrel couldn't help but giggle.

Soften was in shock. "Y...You." She started growl a little. "You cunt." She yelled before there was a loud smacking noise and she fell to the floor. Everyone started to howl and cheer as the saw the waitress had her tray held up in her paws.

She looked to the wolves at the door. "Get this piece of shit out of my tavern."

"Yes ma'am." They said as they ran up and dragged Soften out of the building by her legs. The female wolf looked at the two wolves and bowed. "Lord Icewaver, lady Heavshal. Please forgive the rude full interruption..." She said while standing up right. "I can guaranty she isn't going to be coming back here." She smiled.

"Thank you." They both said before they walked out and headed back to the palace.

"Umm...mother." Icewaver said as he walked beside his mom with all the purchased goods in his paws.

She smiled up at him. "Yes?"

"When did you learn to talk like that?" He asked curiously.

She started to giggle. "Son let me tell you that when I first was mated to your father he wasn't at all like the wolf he is today and besides where do you think you pups get it from? That horny mongrel I call a husband, please." Heavshal smiled when in a long time she finally heard Icewaver laugh, the two walked back to the palace in peace talking about what ever came to mind.

Kyo stood next to his father outside, his old man smiled and he handed him a bow and arrow. "Let's see how good you've gotten."

Kyo shook his head and watched his father set up a target in the woods. When he was done he walked back to his son and stood beside him. "The target is about thirty yards, you should be able to hit it from here."

"You set it almost right behind the tree." Kyo complained.

His father crossed his arms. "And, you should remember that you used to pin that thing all day long."

Kyo frowned as he held up the bow and drew it back. He aimed carefully, breathing calmly he released the draw string and watched the arrow flew through the air but missing the target when the arrow dug into the tree. He heard a laugh come from his father.

"Bring it back up and draw." He ordered, Kyo did as he was told and brought the bow up, he drew back but flinched when he felt his father come up close behind him. His father placed his hand on Kyo's, he moved Kyo's hand closer to his face so that the string was slightly resting onto his cheek. Kyo was now looking down the arrow more than he was before. He took his breath and released, he watched and this time he was rewarded with a thud as the arrow hit its target.

He father moved back and smiled. "You must remember the little things can make a big difference, you could aim all you want but if you don't move the arrow close to you so you can look down it more accurate then you'll miss 75% of the time." Kyo nodded, his dad walked up to him and wrapped his arms around his shoulder and the two headed walked on a trail that led into the woods. "This wolf of yours, you love him yes?"

Kyo didn't know how to respond. Yes this is all a dream but it's the fact on how real everything seemed isn't helping Kyo with his decision making, eventually Kyo nodded.

"I do, somehow I do." Kyo said walking on the trail with his gave at the ground.

His dad laughed. "It's amazing how something like love can come out of nowhere like that."

Kyo stopped in place. "Mother said that there are choices that are going to be made."

His father sighed. "Yes son, there will be. Life is full of them, like you chose to stay with him instead of leaving with Talons. Now you are still alive and have someone to love and love you back."

"But what choices?" Kyo begged, he was scared that he would lose his master. He wanted to know so badly.

His father placed his hand on Kyo's shoulder and moved his so they can continue their walk. "It's not something that you need to be burdened by yet." He said.

Kyo looked ahead and saw a small clearing, he knew what this clearing was. Tears started to soak up his eyes. He continued to walk as he still heard his father's voice. "Just live your life to its fullest, make every second count and remember the little thing can make a difference." Kyo could no longer feel his father's touch as he kept walking, his voice growing fainter. The human walked into the clearing and fell onto his knees, he started to cry as he looked at the two gravestones he had placed. One saying mother the other said father, he collapsed onto the ground and let everything he had come out. Kyo stayed like that till he opened his eyes, he was surprised when he looked to see that the sky was now dark. The moon was high in the sky, he looked at the stones and tried to smile as he got up and started to head back to his cabin.

'Thank you.' Kyo said to himself as he walked on the trail. He continued to walk when he realized that it was getting more and more darker as he continued to walk. Soon everything was pitch black, he lifted up his hand in front of his face but couldn't see them. He felt his eyes get more heave as he soon felt tiered, he lay down and closed his eyes and soon was asleep.

Kyo slowly opened his eyes and tried to sit up, the pain in his chest came jolting threw him as he fell back onto the bed. 'okay this is real.' He said to himself as he laid on the bed. Kyo heard a loud gasp coming from his side, the human slowly turned his head and smiled when he saw a wolf standing in the door way looking like he was about to cry. "Master..." Kyo said before the wolf sprinted and jumped onto the bed.

Kyo gritted his teeth and a small shriek when the wolf hopped on the bed and wrapped his arms tightly around him. Icewaver started to kiss and lick Kyo all over but when he heard the noise Kyo made he backed off a little remembering that his human was still injured. "Oh, I'm sorry pup." the wolf while laying his ears back.

Kyo smiled weakly as he slowly moved his head closer to the wolf. "It's okay master, I know how you feel." The human was to tired and was about to fall asleep till he was picked up off the bed. He looked up at the wolf that held him in his arms. "Master?" Kyo asked.

Icewaver bent down and licked Kyo on the cheek. "If you're going to go back to sleep pup then I think you should be back in my bed." They both smiled, Kyo laid his head against his master as he felt his pain from the pressure on his cut from being curled up. He closed his eyes while trying not to think about it as the wolf quickly carried him through the hallways. Once they came into the room Icewaver slowly laid Kyo down onto the bed, Kyo let out a small sigh of relief as now he wasn't putting too much pressure on his cut. Icewaver lay down beside the human and nuzzled into his neck.

"Pup I'm sorry, I should have been there to help you." The wolf whined.

"Master, shut up." Kyo said, the wolf stared surprised at his human till he saw him smile. "You know that no one knew that it was going to happen." Icewaver nodded. "But I'm alive and that's all that matters right now." The human said as he laid his head back onto the wolf.

The wolf stroked the human's hair while he watches Kyo slowly drifts off to sleep. "I promise that I will be there to protect you next time." The wolf said while bending down and kissing Kyo on the lips.

He laid his back onto the pillow, "How can I leave him and be alpha?" He whispered, he wiped the tear from his eyes before the wolf watched his pup softly sleep nuzzled up close to him. He wrapped his arms around the human and closed smiling happily now that he knew his pup was going to be alright.
