Ch. 12 A Weird Way of Cheering Up!

Icewaver sat up as he looked down at his pup. He couldn't sleep, for his concern for the human was high. He looked outside the window to see that the sun was just about to rise up over the land. 'It's early enough.' He slowly slipped out of the bed, so he didn't disturbed Kyo, and walked out of the room. He headed down the hall way and walked to the door at the very end. He knocked on it and was rewarded with cursing and yelling on the other side. The door flew open as a big wolf stood with a sleepy and pissed face.

"You have any idea what the hell time it is whelp?" the wolf asked.

Icewaver couldn't help but giggle. "I guess to early for you pops, since you can't remember that you are a guest and can't answer the door naked."

Galle looked down and blushed as he was, in fact, standing in the door way with no clothes on at all. The Alpha walked back into his room as Icewaver followed. Galle went to his closet and grabbed his robe and put it on quickly. "What is it that can't wait till morning."

Icewaver leaned against the door frame, he looked down to the floor as he thought for a moment. "I'm going to need to you go back to my room and stay with pup till I get back."

Galle just finished tying the knot to his clothing when Icewaver finished. "And where are you off to at this time of day?"

"Going to visit Tags before he starts his way home," the wolf answered.

Galle shook his head. "Why is it that I have a feeling that you aren't going to be talking to Tags?"

The young wolf looked outside the window of the room. "I just have a couple of questions to ask the girl from last night."

The Alpha walked by Icewaver and into the hallway. "That's what I thought." The two made their way back to Icewaver's room to find that Kyo still hasn't woken up yet. Galle walked over to the edge and slowly slipped into the bed. Icewaver smiled slightly as he saw his dad wrap his arms around his pup and pull him close. The wolf made his way outside the room and headed towards the door to the castle.

It didn't take the wolf long to make his way through town and eventually found where Tags had set up camp just outside the city limits. Upon his arrivle he saw that all the slaves that belonged to the traders were busy packing.

Icewaver walked around for a little bit before calling for the wolf. "Tags... get your ass over here," he yelled.

Soon Tags came from around a tree, tying the strings to his pants. "I swear that no one can take a morning piss in peace anymore," he grumbled. The wolf walked up to Icewaver and held out his paw. "What do I owe the pleasure of your company so early in the fucking morning."

Icewaver shook Tag's paw. "Just need to talk to someone."

Tags laughed out loud. "Yeah, her. She's over there." The wolf pointed to a carriage.

Icewaver nodded as he made his way to the human. She was chained to the carriage and was curled up underneath it. "Wake up," Icewaver yelled as he lightly tugged on the chain. The girl woke up but glared at the wolf once she saw who it was.

"Slav..." Icewaver started to be intrueped.

"It's Alsea, not slave mutt." She spat at him.

Icewaver bared his teeth. "Listen , I don't give a fuck if your name is Alsea or bitch, or cunt, or whatever your called. I just have a couple of questions I need you to answer calmly without any problems and no name calling or..." he pointed to her face. "I'll give you a second black eye to go with my father's."

She just sat with her arms crossed. Icewaver looked down at her as the two just stared at each other for a moment. "What was the name you called my pup last night?"

She looked at the ground. "His name isn't pup, it's Kyo and I don't want to talk about that traitor."

Icewaver cocked his head to the side. "Why is he a traitor?"

"He is living with wolves and wouldn't help me escape," She yelled

"Wouldn't help you or couldn't help you," Icewaver asked.

Alsea was confused. "What do you mean couldn't, of course he wouldn't help."

Icewaver sighed. "Do you know what happens to slaves that try and run away or escape?" Alsea shook her head. "See, he knows from first had that those who run or escape face automatic death." Icewaver sat on the ground as he crossed his legs, letting the information set in with the human. "How do you know him?" he finally asked.

"We are from the same village," She said softly. "He was an honorable hunter back home. Till you came and destroyed everything we worked hard to have." Her tone started to get harsher as the conversation went on.

"It's not my doing what the slave hunters do on their hunts," Icewaver said in defense.

Alsea stood up with her fists clenched. "Bullshit, you probably gave them the order to hunt us down."

Icewaver stood and toward over the girl. "Yeah, just like you humans to accuse others without knowing the facts."

"Well who was the one that gave the orders then?" she asked as she crossed her arms.

"Tags was the one that chose the spot and sent out the orders. All my family does is make sure that they don't destroy and take the whole village but only the mid age males and some females." He snarled back at her.

"Fine then who is Tags," Alsea asked.

Icewaver couldn't help but laugh at her question. "The wolf that's in charge of you is Tags." Her jaw opened in disbelieve that the wolf that lead the attack was with her the whole time.

"Did they kill his family in the raid?" Icewaver asked already knowing the answer but wanting to see if she would tell him the same.

Alsea looked at the ground. "No, besides me and the elder, he never had a family. They all died when he was young, so he's been on his own ever since."

Icewaver looked away so the human can't see the emotions he had for the human. After a while the wolf continued with the questions. "So if my pup's na..." he started before he was interrupted.

"Why do you keep calling Kyo pup? He's not some bitch you know," Alsea yelled, obviously not liking the name the wolf kept calling the human.

Icewaver just smiled. "Yes I know. I was about to ask that if his name is Kyo, and if I heard him right then your name is Alsea. Right?" the wolf asked and received a nod from the human. "So you're his best friend he mentioned a while ago."

She glared at the wolf. "And you're not as dumb of a mutt as I th..." she started but fell to the ground in pain as she clenched the side of her face.

The wolf was glaring down at the human, his fist still clenched. "What did I tell you about name calling? You think I was messing around?"

Alsea looked up at the wolf, still holding the side of her face, the wolf shook his head as he turned and walked away. "What is he to you?" The human asked.

Icewaver turned and looked at Alsea. "What?"

Alsea leaned up against the carriage. "Kyo is your slave right?" The wolf nodded. "Then why do you care so much about him?"

Icewaver looked to the ground as he continued to walk. "I love him and hate to see the pain you caused him," he said as he left the human speechless. 'Did he really just say that he love him?' Alsea thought to herself.

Icewaver found Tags giving orders to a slave. "She is something else," Icewaver said as he walked beside the other wolf.

Tags let out a hardy laugh. "Yeah, but because of the huge black eye she got from your father's K.O. I can't sell her for shit."

The younger wolf giggled as he pat Tags on the shoulder. "Yeah but now she might have a new one to go with it," he said as he passed the wolf and started to make his way back to the castle.

"What!" Tags yelled as he looked back to Alsea to see for himself.

Icewaver slowly opened the door to his room and walked inside to see that the two was still asleep. The wolf looked outside and saw that the sun had just came up and was shining its warm light over the cougar clan's kingdom. Icewaver went up and nudged his father, the big wolf just moaned and snuggled closer to the human. Icewaver just sighed as he tried to get the wolf up, he shook the wolf once more as he groaned at the wolf.

"Boy, I haven't hit a pup in a while but I swear, if you keep waking me up there will be blood," he said as he rolled onto his back and looked at his son. "Found out what you wanted?"

Icewaver sat on the edge of the bed as he looked down at his pup, the humans cheeks was still red from the crying he had done. "Yes, I found out most of what I wanted to know. The human, Alsea, is his best friend from his village."

Galle looked down at the human. "That explains a lot."

"Yeah and she was pissed that Kyo wouldn't help her," Icewaver told him.

"Good thing too." His father got up off the bed. "If he did try and run, we would have no choice but to punish him or even kill him." His ears flatten at the end as though he didn't like the idea of killing the human.

The two talked a little more to each other about the situation till they both heard moaning and turned to see that Kyo was just waking up. Icewaver instantly went over and lay beside the human.

"Hey pup, how you doing?" he asked but Kyo just looked down and gave the wolf a shrug.

Icewaver pulled the human into a hug and licked the side of his face. "You mind going down and getting our breakfast and bringing it back up here." Kyo nodded and slowly got up off the bed. The two wolves watched as the human slowly made his way to the door, forgetting to get dress or bow to the Alpha as he left.

"Damn, he's really out of it," Galle said.

Icewaver sat up on the edge of the bed with his face resting in his paws. "I don't know what I'm going to do, I've never seen him this down before."

"Well you haven't known this human that long," Galle said while leaning against the wall, trying to think of how to take care of the Kyo.

Icewaver glared up at his father. "You know damn well what I mean."

"I know. So what did the girl say when you talked to her?" Galle asked.

The wolf sighed as he thought for a moment. "Oh, that her and pup are from the same village. Best friends apparently. She also mentioned that he was a good hunter..." Galle's ears perked up as Icewaver continued. "He never really had a family back home, that's probably why he grown so attached to us."

Galle had a smile on his face, nodding at the wolf's conclusion. "That's possible, he might have loved the affection you showed him and that we treated him more like a family member than a salve."

Icewaver looked back to the floor. "Yeah, but I still don't know what I'm going to do though."

"Don't worry about him..." the wolf said as Icewaver looked up at Galle with a surprise.

"How can you tell me not to worry about my pup?" the wolf asked.

Galle stretched out his arms, which were stiff from sleeping so long. "I'll take care of pup, I need you to get things ready for tomorrow. I decided to leave early since everything that got fucked up here has to do with us..." Galle started to walk to the door. "Tell pup to get cleaned up and meet me at the front door in two hours," he told Icewaver as he opened the door and walked out.

Moments later, Icewaver's door opened as Kyo walked in with two trays of food. He looked around and saw that Galle wasn't there. Icewaver patted the side of the bed for Kyo to sit, the human handed the tray to Icewaver as he did. The wolf smiled down at the extra plate of food. "Guess you're going to have to eat it." He smiled as Kyo just started to eat. "When you're done you'll need to get cleaned up and meet my father out in the front in about an hour. I have things to take care of but I guess you'll be spending time with him." Kyo nodded as the two finished their breakfast and Icewaver gave him a kiss on the forehead before walking out of the room.

Kyo took the dirty dishes and walked over to the bathroom as he got cleaned up. He sat nude while thoughts were going through his head. 'Have I really betrayed my tribe? Am I that dishonorable?' The thought of what happened last night started to bring tears to his eyes. 'She really hates me now," he thought. After he finished up and got into new clothes that he brought with him, he waited at the front door like he was told.

Soon a couple of furs came up to him and smiled. Kyo looked at them, there was three wolves and two cougars. One of them walked up to Kyo and put a paw on his shoulder. "Your pup right?"

Kyo just nodded. The wolf smiled as he pat him on the head. "Ok, good. The other two will be here shortly, then we'll be on our way."

Kyo was a little confused as to what was going on. Kyo heard footsteps coming to him and he turned to see Galle and the king walking towards the small group. "We're all here?" Galle asked.

"Yes sir," One of the cougars answered.

"Good, then let's go," The king said as they all made their way out of the castle and through town.

Galle had Kyo walk beside him as they ended up going out of the town and into the woods. There they found a small cart and a third cougar waiting for them. "My lords," he said with a bow. Galle walked up and smiled as he picked up a bow and quiver of arrows. He turned and tossed them to Kyo.

Kyo looked at the wolf, still confused on what they were doing. "You know how to use that pup?" Galle asked.

"Yes sir," Kyo answered softly.

"Good," Galle said as he grabbed one for himself and slung it over his body. Everyone else did the same as some of them grabbed a small ax or knife. Once armed, Galle and the king had a small conversation and split everyone into two parties. One party consisted of the cougar king, one cougar, and two wolves, the other was Kyo, Galle, one wolf and two cougars.

They set out on two different directions as they walked through the woods. Kyo walked beside Galle. "Umm... Sir , what are we doing?"

The party gave out a small series of laughs and chuckles which made Kyo blush out of embarrassment. "I figured it would be obvious," Galle said as the party stopped and was looking around. "We are hunting."

Kyo couldn't help but have a smile on his face, he realized that the Alpha was doing this to cheer him up, and damn it working well. "What are we hunting for sir?" Kyo asked.

Galle brought his nose to the sky as he took in a couple of deep breaths. With satisfaction the group started to head in a direction that Galle pointed to. "We are competing with the other group for deer."

All was silent as they slowly made their way through the woods, soon they all heard a howl and Galle cursed. "Fuck, they got one already." They decided to pick up the paste as they continued to search. They moved swiftly over the forest floor, barely making any sound, one of the cougars that were with them held up his paws to signal everyone to stop. They all did and crouched down, in front of them was a decent size buck that stood about twenty yards away from them. Galle pointed to the cougar to go, the cougar nodded as he crouched even lower and made his way to it. The fur made his way slowly to a tree, gently stood up, and placed an arrow on the bow before he slowly drew it back. He took aim and soon let the arrow fly at the deer, but sadly he shot to high and spooked the animal as it took off in a dead sprint. The one wolf that was with them stood up with an arrow ready and took a shot, he managed to hit the animal just behind the shoulder blade. The deer ran for about fifty more yards before it collapsed. The second cougar ran up to it with a knife and slashed it a across the throat to end its life. The wolf let out a loud howl as they got their first kill.

The cougar that gave the killing blow agreed to take the carcass back to the wagon while the others continued. The group continued to move a mile and a half into the woods from where they got their first kill, managing to come across fresh tracks before deciding to follow them. They traveled for another two miles before they finally came across another buck. Galle patted Kyo on the shoulder and gave him a nod. Kyo took a deep breath before sliding behind the group, confusing Galle as he watched Kyo slowly took off to the left of the group. Kyo crawled up to the side of a bush that laid ten yards from the group. He slowly got up on his knees and prepared his bow, cursing at the angle the deer was standing. The buck had most of his back side to him, Kyo had to try and get him to move just slightly, but having the bow drawn back was taking energy away from him so he had to act quick. Deers are very skittish and a loud noise could cause it to run, so Kyo let out a small whistle. The buck instantly looked in the direction of the noise, unsure of what it was.

The human was pleased as the buck took a step to turn around to see the source of the noise, revealing a little more of its torso. Aiming for the head wasn't a good idea for it was a small target, Kyo aimed and released the drawstring of the bow, as he watched the arrow fly to its target. The arrow pierced the deer through the ribs, just behind the shoulder blade, but the angle of which it was standing could have entered the heart. The buck took off for a few feet before falling to the ground.

Galle let out a loud howl as they came up to the lifeless animal. he ruffed Kyo's hair as he was pleased on how the human took out the animal. Tags looked up at the sky and saw that the sun was more than past midday. He picked up the deer by the hind legs as the party made their way back to the wagon where they started, they heard a longer howl as they continued to walk.

Kyo looked up at the Alpha. "Did they get another one?" he asked

Galle smiled as he shook his head. "No, they are waiting for us."

As they came to the other party, Galle was pleased as the king's group only got one while Galle's got two, which means that they won. Galle chuckled at the king as he handed him the knife. "You know the deal, you lose so you have to gut and skin them." Everyone let out a laugh as they sat back and watched the king cougar get to work.

Kyo looked up at the Alpha a little bit confused. "Sir, can I ask you something."

"Sure," he said while looking down at the human.

"How did you know that hunting would cheer me up," he asked with a stern look.

Galle's gaze instantly fell to the ground as his ears flatten. "Pup, please don't be mad but your master went and talked to your friend this morning." Kyo instantly looked depressed at the thought of what his master talked to her about. Galle placed his arm around the human. "Don't worry, he just wanted to find out what you were like before you became a slave."

Kyo looked up at the wolf as he tried to hold back tears. "But why can't he ask me then, I would have told him myself."

The Alpha shook his head. "He hates seeing you like this, he loves your smile and he knew that if he brought up a conversation about your home then you would get depressed. He doesn't want you to feel that way ever."

Kyo nodded as he understood, the thought of his master caring so much for him slowly put a smile on his face. "Sir... thank you," Kyo said as he hugged the big wolf.

Galle just laughed as he hugged the human back. Eventually the others ended up helping the king finish with the gutting and skinning since they saw that he didn't know what he was doing, but it was entertaining.

They made their way back to the castle with a wagon full of meat and hides. Kyo looked around to see if he can find his master, Galle looked at the eagerness of the human and gave him permission to go off and find him. He found Icewaver in the front, talking to the slaves about tomorrow's preparations, he ran up and gave the wolf a huge hug. Icewaver was shocked at first but smiled and hugged him back.

"So what did you and father do?" he asked.

Kyo smiled as he started to nuzzle the wolf's chest. "We went hunting."

Icewaver looked over and dismissed all the slaves to give him and his pet some privacy. "How did you do?" he asked when they all left.

Kyo looked up at his master. "I got one buck."

The wolf placed his paw on the human's head. "That's great."

"Master..." Kyo said.

Icewaver looked at his pet with a happy smile. "Yes pup."

Kyo placed his face back on the wolf's chest. "Thank you for caring so much about me."

Icewaver bent down and kissed him on the forehead. "You don't have to thank me for that pup."

Kyo gave one last squeeze before letting the wolf go. They both walked into the castle and towards the parlor where everyone had gathered. Upon entering, they heard the story Galle was telling everyone on their hunt, Icewaver sat on the couch while Kyo laid his head down on the wolf's lap. Icewaver placed his paw on his pet's head as he started to run his fingers through the human's hair. Galle also told everyone his intentions on leaving the following morning, everyone agreed but Froshen. Kyo guessed that the young wolf was having too much fun playing with the king's youngest son. The king came in just in time to hear the Alpha's plan and decided to have a big feast for them with their kills tonight.

They sat in the room and talked until dinner was ready. Kyo looked around the room to see Bronx was still staring at him. 'He's never going to get over me,' Kyo thought to himself.

Dinner was ready and both the king and Alpha decided that they all should eat together, the Alpha suggested that since Kyo got the winning buck that he should have first bite of tonight's dinner. After everyone agreed, Kyo sat nervously while waiting for everyone get comfortable at the table. Kyo got a nod from the Alpha, he took a bite of the venison and smiled warmly at how tender and juicy it was. Everyone from that point dug into the meal, Froshen obviously couldn't help but decide whether to get beef or venison, so he piled both on his plate but got a smack upside the head from his grandma as she saw his poor manners. Everyone laughed but continued to eat, Kyo thought that it was the best food he had as he leaned against Icewaver with his stomach satisfied.

The wolf wrapped his arm around Kyo and got up. They walked back into the parlor and soon was joined by Froshen, the young cougar, and everyone else as they finished one by one. Galle sat down on the chair but Icewaver knew something was off.

"Father what's wrong," Icewaver asked.

Galle looked up to his son. "Angalis, she should be home any minute," he said.

Icewaver shook his head. "Yeah I know."

Kyo looked confused. "But master, it took us almost four days to get here."

Galle laughed and leaned back in the chair. "We took a detour. Our palace is close to this castle and if you travel over night you can cut the time in half."

Kyo nodded. "I see." Soon everyone was in the room and talking, every now and then Bronx would still ask about having Kyo when he found out that the next morning he was going to be gone.

They all laughed at the cougar's desperation as he failed to convince the wolves to hand Kyo over. The night drew near as everyone started to head to bed. Icewaver and Kyo went back to their room. Once inside, the wolf picked Kyo up and tossed him on the bed. He lay on top of the human and started to nibble on his neck. "Pup," he said gently.

Kyo looked down at the wolf. "Yes master," he answered.

Icewaver sat up and placed his paw on the human's cheek. "I don't ever want to see you sad again," he said. Kyo nodded as he smiled, before leaning up and kissing the wolf on the lips. Icewaver kissed back as he laid down, knowing that his pup would sleep happily tonight.

The door to the palace flew open as Angelis stormed in. She was cursing and stomping. Her older brother was just about to go up the stairs when he saw her. "What are you doing here so early?"

"Fuck off," she said as she walked passed him. She made it to her room and was about to walk in when she heard someone's voice.

"I still don't get it," the voice said.

A second voice came into hearing. "Shut up, you know we can't talk about it."

The wolf moved closer around the corner to see Talons had a broom in his hands and was cleaning. "But I don't get how they found out," he said.

Angelis smiled as she rounded the corner. "Slave, my friend, can we talk." Talons looked back at the wolf confusingly.

"What did you want to talk about ma'am," he answered.

She just smiled at the human as she walked him to her chambers. "Oh, I think I have information that you'll find interesting," she said as she closed her doors.
