A Place in the Universe chapter 5
#5 of The Great Balancing
Kitt sauntered down the busy human city streets, this'd been his first time out of the Temple since he arrived almost four months ago and it was a welcome change. Although the weather could have been better, it was hot and humid, dark heavy clouds hung in the sky ready to open up at any moment it just clung and soaked Kitt's thick wolf hide.
He pasted several shops on his way, occasionally stopping to look at the pieces of Human culture; Kitt walked past a video screen store, which make him stop cold in his tracks he saw the screens playing the Universal New Network. They had Kitt's picture in the upper left corner as a reporter interviewed the Alpha himself.
Kitt had nearly forgotten about him in these months, all the feelings of rage and hate slowly seeped back into his body. Kitt listened as the reporter spoke with the Alpha.
"Sire, is this renegade wolf, really as dangerous as the rumors say." The small fox reported asked.
With a slight grin almost as he knew Kitt was watching. "Indeed he is! I'm sure you have seen the pictures taken after the slaughter on the planet Tantri. He is one of the most dangerous furs alive."
"What are your current plans to capture this fugitive?"
"Well, I cannot divulge that information at this time but I assure you we are close to bringing him to Lupine justice."
Kitt was about to leave right then and there but the interview had ended. With the report going on with his summary; "That was the Leader of the Lupine people on the subject of Kitt Alistair, and the hunt to bring him to justice. On a related topic and a most controversial one, the execution of another enemy of the Lupine government, Alec Drominaz, reputed to be the actual mate to Kitt Alistair. Skeptics say that this is merely a ploy to draw out Kitt and capture him. We will see what unfolds when Alec Drominaz is sentenced to death and broadcasted over all Lupine vidnets in 2 weeks. I am Darrien Foster, reporting UNN."
Kitt took off down the street, without any regard for keeping his talents secret blasted off into the air heading for the temple.
"Kitt! You can't leave...he's betting you into a fight and you're not ready." Master Kway pleaded as Kitt gathered his things.
"I know Kway, but I have to, I can't let them kill Alec even if I have to sacrifice myself."
Kway escorted Kitt back to his ship and watched as the loading ramp slowly began to close "Kitt remember what you've learned here. Be true, be pure and you won't be defeated."
Kitt nodded and smiled. "Don't worry; I have no intention on dying."
With a mighty roar Kitt's engines ignited and the ship rose into the air, the sun reflecting hard off the ship. It blasted off out of the atmosphere and soon entered the black and red swirling mass of hyperspace heading right for the Lupine Home world.
After a week and a half of travel Kitt still didn't have a plan for what he was going to do and he'll only have two days to pull it off.
The navigational console flashed and beeped, as the ship neared the hyperspace beacon for the Lupine Home World. Kitt sighed as he gazed upon his home and although it'd caused him so much pain, he was still happy to be back.
As the ship continued to coast closer to the planet Kitt inhaled deeply and lowered his energy so not to alert the Alpha. It was way too easy; Kitt piloted the craft down and landed in the sparse outskirts and ruins of the old capitol without so much as a word from the Lupine space control.
Kitt lowered the landing ramp and revved the engine on his car, then took off along the beaten up dirt roads. He could feel the Alpha's energy surging as brightly as the orange glow of the city before him.
He only had a few days to figure out what to do before Alec's execution. Kitt pulled up to his old apartment and ascended in the elevator to his level. The hallway dark and deserted; over Kitt's door was lines of yellow tape, forbidding entry, which of course didn't stop Kitt, who ripped through the tape and opened the door. Kitt stayed awake all night, standing on the balcony, aimlessly staring over the city, his mind trying to locate Alec's energy, but he couldn't find him.
The sun broke over the horizon, casting rays of beautiful light onto the Lupine city. Kitt drove through the streets searching for a plan, but nothing presented itself.
Kitt pulled up to a domed steel structure, on the front entrance in bold graffiti, branding the furs that own the building for breeding a traitor and a fag. Kitt sighed as he approached the Alistair pack center.
With his sword slung over his back Kitt took a deep breath and moved inside. It was dark and silent as Kitt moved into the audience chamber, not as elaborate as the main one in the red stone citadel and nowhere near as huge.
The walls once littered with scrolls and tapestries telling of the deeds and accomplishments of the Alistair pack. Now it was crumbling and looted, as was the punishment for being so greatly dishonored.
Kitt sighed closing his eyes; he stood there for a few moments then shot his eyes open and turned when he heard the sharp whoosh of a sword being drawn. Kitt saw a figure about the same height as himself, he couldn't really make out the face, but he has a dark reddish brown fur, not badly built, wearing black cargo pants and a green button up shirt.
The wolf stepped forward into the light his teeth barred looking none too happy. "So...you finally come back..." the wolf said.
Kitt gasped as he recognized the wolf. "Redgit? Is that you?"
The wolf nodded and stepped forward to Kitt, his blue silk wrapped katana held down at his side in his powerful paw. "Yeah it's me, surprised you remember. I had thought you might have forgotten after nearly a year of running with your tail between your legs."
"Redgit, you have to believe me...I never wanted this, I didn't want to hurt anyone." Kitt explained.
"Well, heh...you sure as hell have hurt us, my pack was stripped of everything we owned, and we can barely show our faces without being ridiculed and all because you couldn't just find a nice female mate!" Redgit whipped his sword up, pressing the tip to Kitt's throat.
"So, what, are you going to kill me? What would that accomplish?" Kitt said calmly.
Redgit growled but didn't push his sword any further. "Oh I think it'd accomplish a lot, I bring your head to the Alpha and he restores our place among the packs. Plus for my own self satisfaction is a definite upside."
Kitt smirked. "You think it's just about me, there's something else here the Alpha has other plans here, there's never been as such a harsh sentence for what I am."
"And you have proof of this?" Redgit asked.
Kitt shook his head. "Not yet..."
"Perfect...well I'm guessing you will be fighting the Alpha again to get Alec free. What makes you think you can beat him this time?"
With a slight chuckle Kitt disappeared, and ended up behind Redgit with his sword drawn. "I've learned a few new tricks in the last year."
"Heh, well being faster isn't everything." Redgit spun around, lashing his sword out at Kitt.
Kitt's eyes narrowed as he flipped up his rapier, clashing into Redgit's katana. The two packmates, exchange sword blows for a few moments, before Kitt knocked Redgit's blade up and struck him on the chest with an open palm hit, knocking Redgit clean on his back a few feet away.
Redgit gasped and rubbed his chest looking up at Kitt. "Okay...so you might have a chance....what's the plan?"
Kitt helped his friend to his feet and shrugged. "I have no idea, some how we have to find out what the Alpha is up to and we only have three days to do it."
"Figures..." Redgit said.
Kitt and Redgit sat in Redgit's ranch home out in the dense forest outside the lupine capitol. They sat at the kitchen table, chatting and drinking.
"Uhm Kitt...I uh, well I've been wondering and I hope you don't mind me asking...but what's it like...?" Redgit said kind of blushing.
"What's what like?" Kitt responded not quite following.
"You know...being...gay...?"
"Oh..." Kitt chuckled softly. "It's just like being straight for the most part; you fall in love the same way."
"And Alec is worth all this right?" Redgit asked.
"To be with him, I'd go through fifty times this."
Redgit slowly nodded.
Later in the night, much like most of the nights in the last week or so, Kitt wasn't able to sleep. He stood out on the second level balcony of the large maple wood house. A stiff cold wind blew through the huge trees, the night sky clear and littered with thousands of bright stars and the ghostly haze of the ends of the galaxy whisking along the tapestry.
Kitt gazed into the sky, looking for an answer, when he heard a voice in the back of his mind. "Kitt...I know you're here..." it was the Alpha's voice, cold and evil ringing in Kitt's ears.
"You haven't got a chance...Alec will die!" the Alpha snarled.
Kitt growled under his breath and clamped down on his energy blocking out the Alpha's voice. Then it hit him, something the Alpha said just before the trials.
Kitt burst into Redgit's room, it was barely two in the morning and his friend and cousin sleeping soundly.
"Redgit! Wake up, I've got it!" Kitt practically shouted.
Redgit startled by Kitt, shot up in bed with a sort of yelp. "What?! Kitt it's two a.m."
"I know where to start..."
Again Kitt and Redgit sat at the kitchen table, Redgit still clearing the sleep out of his head. "Okay...this happened about a year ago, just before the Hun-gar trials, the Alpha said something to me and at the time I didn't understand it or even try to. But it gives us a starting point."
Redgit shook his head, completely lost. "What did he say?"
"He said, I've put a lot in to this kid...and it's your tail if he fails Gall." Kitt explained.
"And how exactly does that help us?"
"What did he put into me? I don't mean physically, but I don't remember him ever doing anything for me, except pissing the fuck out of me at every possible turn." Kitt said.
"So how do we go about finding out what he did for you and how does that help us?" Redgit countered, not entirely convinced this is the answer.
"We'll have to break into the Lupine central information building and check my records as well as the rest of the candidates for Hun-gar then compare them to past candidates and hope there's something."
Redgit blinked and remained silent for a few moments. "You do realize the security in that building and if we get past the security forces, the computers are gonna be next to impossible to crack."
"True then we'll have to find someone who can, or at least had worked with the systems. None of our pack worked there?" Kitt asked hopefully.
"Not that I know of...well there is Jonas Foster." Redgit suggested getting up for a cup of coffee.
"Uhm who?"
"This pup the child of Carissa Foster, my sister's best friend, she wanted me to help Jonas with his confirmation training. He's barely 15. But I saw him use a computer once; he was showing off to me, hacked into the Defense network." Redgit explained as he sipped at his coffee.
"Did he make it through confirmation?" Kitt inquired.
"Nope, he's not much of a leader, too quiet."
"But do you think he'll help us?" Kitt hopingly asked.
Redgit nodded "Yeah I believe so."
Kitt stood up. "Alright then we'd better get going, we don't have a lot of time."
Dawn broke over the horizon, flooding the landscape with bright crisp light. Kitt and Redgit sat in Kitt's car, racing along the open highway.
They approached a small town nothing as built up as the capitol, rather quaint and nice looking a suburb of one of the larger cities on the planet.
Kitt's car pulled up to a two story stucco sided house, a nice flowerbed in front. Both wolves exited the car Kitt dressed in blue jeans a light sweater and his leather thigh length trench coat, his face adorned with chrome-rimmed wrap around sunglasses, Redgit in a t-shirt, black dress pants and a light bomber jacket.
They stepped up to the door, Kitt stayed behind Redgit as they rung the doorbell. Soon a young female wolf answered, gray and white-splotched fur, she looked kind and very innocent.
"Redgit! Hi hon!" she hugged Redgit tightly and smiled her tail wagging behind her.
"Hey Deb, nice to see you too" He hugged her back.
She invited them both in, her home not badly decorated just not lavish. "So, who's this?" Deb asked, gesturing to Kitt.
Redgit stuttered for a moment. "This is Kitt, Alistair."
"Oh...the Kitt Alistair?" she said with a bit of disdain in her voice but still tried to remain civil.
Redgit nodded. "Yeah Deb...but he's back to try and help fix what he did. And we need your help, or rather your son's."
She looked away from Kitt to Redgit "Jonas, why him?"
Kitt spoke up. "We need him to help us get some information from the Central Information network."
Deb sneered. "You what, you want to use my son to help you break into a computer system, to save your own tail?!"
Kitt shook his head. "No, it's not for me, I never needed to come back, I could easily get my mate and leave without even the slightest thought to my pack. I need him to get information to prove that the Alpha made this a personal vendetta again me and the pack."
Deb sighed and lowered her ears. "You are right about that, but I can't let me son do that, he'd go to jail for most of his life."
Redgit was about to say something when Kitt cut in again. "I know this is a lot to ask but, no charges will ever be brought against him...if we're caught, you can just say he was pup-napped, and we forced him to do it. We'll confess to it."
Redgit finally got his word in. "Look Deb, please...this is the chance we have to get our lives back, wouldn't it be nice to walk down the street without having to take the insults and death stares."
Deb nodded softly. "Yeah it would, but it's not really my choice Red you'll have to ask Jonas yourself...he's up in his room."
Redgit knocked on the pup's door; it covered in posters from various heavy rock bands. The door opened showing the very small wolf adolescent, his furs an orangey cream color still with his pup markings on his muzzle.
"Redgit!" his face lit up with a big smile.
"Hey Jonas how're you doing?" Redgit said.
"I'm good just doing my homework, it's so cool to see you again."
"Jonas, I need to ask a favor of you..."
"Uhm sure Redgit what is it?" Jonas asked in a very young innocent tone.
"You showed me once that you could hack into the Defense network computers, I need you to do it to the Central Information network." Redgit explained.
Jonas' face dropped a bit as he gasped. "You're kidding right?! I can't do it from here; there aren't any routes with backdoors on the open intranet."
Redgit's expression went cold as he nodded. "Yeah we know you'll have to come with us to the offices and do it from one of the terminals there."
Jonas fell back onto his bed "But isn't that just more than slightly illegal?"
"Yeah actually it's a lot illegal you don't have to if you don't want to. I'll understand."
"Why do you want on the Info-net anyway?" Jonas inquired.
"I need information about the Hun-gar recruits it could help clear our pack of any of the shit we've had to go through."
Jonas' ears perked as he looked dead into Redgit's eyes "Really, no joking?"
Redgit smiled a bit. "No joking if we find what we need."
Jonas hmmm's "Who's we?"
"Me and Kitt Alistair..." Redgit said quietly.
"Him?! He's the one who started all this crap in the first place!" Jonas practically yelled.
"I know, and he knows, but he's trying to set everything right. Will you help us? We don't have a lot of time."
Jonas sat silently on his bed, looking at the floor as he contemplated it. "I...I...what the hell...it'll make me famous, the only wolf to hack the info-net from the inside."
Redgit smiled and hugged the pup. "Great! Get packed we leave as soon as you're ready."
Out on the highway again, soaring at reckless speeds the three wolves head towards the capitol.
"Some how I pictured you to be taller..." Jonas said to Kitt.
Kitt chuckled from the driver's seat. "TV does that to people."
Kitt's midnight blue car pulled up across the street from the fifty-seven-story light gray office building. From the car they could see the lobby; only two guards sat at the front desk.
"Okay..." Jonas started. "I was able to pull up some structural layouts from my PC before we left. We'll have to get to the twenty-third floor, that's the first floor that can access the system's I'll need."
Kitt looked at Redgit, and both sighed in unison.
"Yeah tell me about it, once there, we'll have to get through a level three blast door and then a laser security grid. If we set off any alarms we'll be fucked."
Redgit pulled up a briefcase and opened it, inside are a few assorted handguns. He handed Kitt two along with several magazines of ammunition. Although Kitt knew he didn't really need them, he decided to keep his abilities a secret for now and loaded both the pistols.
"Are there any other ways in other than the lobby?" Kitt asked.
"Yeah, there are two fire exits on the south side along with a loading ramp on the east side. Chances are the loading ramp would be the easiest of them all. "
Kitt nodded and opened the car door, as did Redgit, letting Jonas follow. "Okay kid, just stay behind us, if the shit hit's the fan, just find somewhere to hide, I promised to get you back in one piece."
Jonas nodded staying behind Redgit.
Kitt peered around the corner of the building into the sloped loading area then quickly pulled his head back. "Okay, two guards one on either side of the door. Probably closed circuit monitors controlled from the side security room."
"How are we gonna get passed them?!" Jonas asked the nervousness apparent in his voice.
Kitt sighed and placed his handguns in his pockets. "Okay, I'll take care of it, just wait here."
In the blink of an eye Kitt disappeared, Redgit and Jonas looked around the corner, seeing both the guards knocked down and Kitt slipping along the wall into the security room.
"H-h-how'd he do that?!" Jonas exclaimed.
Redgit shrugged. "I dunno, the old Kitt wasn't that fast..."
Kitt waved his companions down.
The other two joined Kitt in a few moments, as he raided one of the equipment lockers. "Here, Jonas, put this on, it's probably a little big but it'll keep you safe" Kitt said handing Jonas one of the bulky navy blue armored vests.
Jonas slipped into the vest, and Kitt was right it was quite large on him and very heavy but with a slight 'grr' Jonas bared it.
Redgit and Kitt dawn their own vests and loaded up a couple of the high-powered assault weapons that was kept there for the security personnel.
"Jonas, can you bypass the internal video camera systems, and maybe open us a path to level 23?" Redgit asked as he pulled the cocking hammer back on his rifle.
The young wolf nodded and set up his laptop next to one of the terminals and rapidly began typing away at near blinding speeds. Kitt and Redgit look on making sure no one came by, having to double take as they saw Jonas' paws dance over the keyboards.
"Alright got it, these government types are so stupid, so many backdoors...anyway, I've looped the camera feeds and unlocked most of the doors leading us to level twenty three except, the blast door on that level is on it's own circuit, I can't open it from here. Oh and we have fifteen minutes before they realize what's going on." Jonas said with a nervous grin.
Kitt sighed. "Alright let's go."
The three wolves padded quickly down one of the sterile gray hallways, humming florescent lights, the clacking of their boots on the flooring was the only thing that could be heard.
Kitt abruptly stopped just before entering the room with the elevator, signaling with his paw for the others to stop as well. Then a second later a guard sauntered out right into the butt of Kitt assault rifle as it crashed across his muzzle, knocking him unconscious instantly.
They dragged him along and locked him up in one of the janitor's closets, then pressed the button for the elevator.
The small car slowly ascended into the heart of the building; Kitt, Redgit and Jonas stood silently as the numbers on the floor display counted up.
The doors slid open with a ping, leading down a hallway looking identical to the one they'd just been in, except at the end is a huge blue steel door, the massive hinges and locking mechanisms made it look like it would take a starship to get it open.
In the hall, Kitt looked from side to side, seeing no other doorways, a perfect bottleneck. Jonas rushed up to the door and pulled out his laptop.
After a few moments Jonas growled and slapped his computer. "Fuck! Guys, don't mean to put a damper on this but I think we'd better think about another plan...I can't get this door open..."
"What?!" Redgit shouted.
"Well I can but it'll take me hours to do it...there's too much security on this thing." Jonas whimpered.
Kitt looked over the door and hmm's. "Jonas, if there was a small explosion would they be able to detect it?"
With a confused look Jonas looked up from his laptop. "Uhm, I don't think so, I turned off all the sensors, and by the structural layout, and it looks like this level if pretty soundproof."
"Good, you and Redgit go stand back near the elevator and cover your heads." Kitt said.
After a hesitation Redgit pulled Jonas down the hall. "What is he gonna do, we didn't bring any explosives, especially that could take down that door." Jonas asked.
Redgit simply shrugged. "I'm not sure either, Kitt's definitely weirding me out here."
Kitt slung his rifle over his back and sighed, hoping to have kept this a bit low key, because the Alpha is going sense this right off the bat. But having no other choice, Kitt placed his paws against the hinges of the massive door and inhaled deeply as he pumped his energy into the metal, heating it.
The hinges creek and glow as they became super heated and after a minute Kitt barked harshly, both hinges shatter and explode, sending the shrapnel into the ceiling, floor and walls. With a push the door wobbled and toppled in on itself.
Kitt looked back at the other two. "Okay let's go."
"Kitt wait! Before we go any further...what the fuck are you?!" Redgit exclaimed.
"Look Redgit, we have..." Kitt looked at his watch. "9 minutes to get in and out, we don't have time, just be glad I'm on your side."
Redgit growled as he followed Kitt inside. The room was a huge expanse of computers hundreds of them all linked together "Which one Jonas?" Kitt asked.
"Uh...uhm...I'll need a server system...over there!" he pointed and dashed off.
Kitt and Redgit stood by the collapsed door, watching the elevator door when Jonas gasped. "Holy shit...Kitt!"
Kitt looked at Redgit then went over to the computer where Jonas was working. "What is it?"
"Well, uh, I think I found out what you need. Look here, this is a compiling of all the Hun-gar candidates. It shows the standard medical dating, but what's odd about this is in certain wolves, there is a shit load more of them, all before they were five cycles old." Jonas explained.
Not following at all Kitt shrugged. "And!?"
"Aaaand...these codes aren't standard doctor's appointments, they're military serial codes, meaning that these wolves were examined by the military."
"That still doesn't give us anything." Kitt said in a disappointed tone.
"Okay, okay, give me a moment." Jonas continued to make his way through the massive computer system.
"Four minutes...we have to go!" Redgit shouted from the door.
"Jonas we're running out of time!" Kitt said right beside him.
"Wait wait! I think I have something, let me just print save it."
Alarm sirens started to blast through the room, the piercing pattern of high-pitched noises, told them they've been found out.
"Guess I was a bit off in my calculations." Jonas said sarcastically.
"No shit! Let's go." Kitt said in a growl then pulled Jonas from the computer.
A few moments later the elevator pinged and out poured a mass of lupine security guards, all armed to the teeth. Redgit knelt down against the wall and opened fire, spraying the narrow hall with bullets killing the first three wolves to exit the elevator.
"Jonas! Is there another way out of here?!" Redgit called out in between bursts of rifle fire.
"Uh uh...yeah there's the service elevator on the other side of the mainframe, this way!" Jonas cried out.
Redgit fired off a long stream of bullets before dashing out of the path of the door.
The three fleeing wolves charged between the rows of computer stacks. As they passed one of the intersection pathways, they got caught in the fire of a couple guards, firing machine gun rounds past them sparking and shattering the plastic casing off the computers. Kitt tossed Jonas past the opening and spun down to one knee unleashing two controlled blasts from his rifle, striking the guards dead in the chests, sending their bodies flailing back.
Redgit and Jonas dashed a head as Kitt finished up clearing behind them. Kitt growled as he pulled the trigger, it clicked mockingly running out of ammo. He tossed it aside and ran back up with Redgit drawing his two pistols "Which way?" Kitt yelled.
Jonas looked and shivered with fear. "I don't know!! I can't think..."
"Damn. Go right!" Redgit and Kitt, whom was dragging Jonas along, slipped down yet another stack of computers in a seemingly endless maze of them, eventually ending up in a glassed in room and a complete dead end.
"Perfect..." Redgit sighed.
From behind them they heard the guards massing up, "All of you, freeze!"
Kitt looked down and saw a row of metal filing cabinets then he looked at Redgit.
Redgit nodded, and Kitt whipped his guns out at the security guards and began laying down cover fire as Redgit tipped over several of the cabinets, Jonas instantly dove behind one of them, soon followed Redgit and Kitt.
Kitt pressed the releases on the handguns and quickly slapped in to two fresh ammunition clips. "Okay now what?!"
Redgit shrugged. "Fuck if I know, this was your plan."
The bullets pinged and crashed into the cabinets sparking off as many of the stray rounds burst out the glass windows, showering the room in the broken shards.
Jonas cowered, curled up in a ball, shaking. Kitt looked at Jonas and put his paw on his shoulder, causing him to yelp and yell out. "Jonas, listen to me, you're our only hope, we need you to get on your computer and find a way out of here!"
Jonas nodded slowly and pulled out his laptop. Kitt and Redgit lifted up from the cabinets and began snapping off rounds into any guard they could see then quickly dove back under cover.
After a few moments Jonas smiled and shouted out. "Okay here! There's the main cooling vent just to the left there. It runs on a diagonal with the building so we should be able to slide down it."
Redgit gasped as he tossed his empty rifle aside and pulled out his pistols. "Should?! This is a twenty three floor drop we're talking about!"
"Trust me I'd rather not, but do you see any other options?!" Jonas snarled.
"Okay we're going for it..." Kitt said. "...On three."
Redgit and Jonas nodded.
"One....two....THREE!" Kitt yelled as he and Redgit popped out again, firing off countless bullets into the group of guards, sending a light show of sparks and flying debris all over the place. In Kitt's mind he saw every round soaring across the room in slow motion until he found a break, time sped back up. "Go!"
The three wolves bolted across the glassed in room into a small utility room, Redgit locked the door even though it would hold for more than a second.
Kitt saw the vent and put his fist through it knocking it down the slopping shaft. He peered down it "This is nuts!"
A split second later the door became swish cheese with bullets cutting through it.
Kitt dove down the vent, followed by Jonas and Redgit.
The loud echoing screech of them skidding along the sheet metal surface, Kitt saw the bottom, a sheer wall of concrete and yelped. Then thrust his paw towards it and yelled the three of them slam into a shield of Kitt's energy, softening their landing.
With panting grunts they all looked at each other, scratched up, but alive. Redgit slammed his foot into a grating knocking it out into a hallway, slowly all three piled out.
"Okay, how about we all agree never to do that again." Redgit said.
A slight chuckle came from Jonas and Kitt as they nodded "Agreed!"
With Kitt in the lead the escaping wolves, a door shot open just ahead of Kitt, he reacted stepping forward right into the face of a guard, who didn't even see him coming. Kitt swiped his elbow across the guards face, and then head butted him, tossing him into the opposite concrete wall.
Kitt and the others approached the loading dock, which seemed all too quiet, several large cargo trucks sat silently, and Kitt however could sense the amassing security forces hiding behind the vehicles. "Uh, guys, ready for round three?" Kitt whispered.
Jonas sighed and just wanted to be at home right now playing computer games. Redgit slid two fresh clips of ammo into his guns and nodded. Kitt signaled to Redgit telling him four guards were positioned on the right and seven on the left.
Redgit moved to the right with Jonas as Kitt slipped along one of the dumpsters, looking right to the back of the security wolves who expected them to waltz right up the middle.
Kitt walked silently right up to there back and pocketed his pistols. "Gentle furs" Kitt said cockily.
All seven wolves gasped and turned sharply, Kitt grabbed one of the wolf's rifles and thrusts him into the side of a truck, spinning the gun around, smacking it into the muzzle of another.
Redgit and Jonas heard Kitt fighting the guards on the left side, in a loud cluster of grunts and bullet fire. The four that were on the right move in to aid their teammates. Redgit slid up and kicked the unseeing wolf in the back of the knee then as he went down, got him with a second kick to the side of the head. Redgit rolled on the ground, grasping his weapon and firing off several blasts into the three remaining guards.
Kitt took two steps up the side of one of the trucks and back flipped off of it bringing the huge combat shotgun he'd stolen from one of the guards and landed right behind the last surviving wolf.
"Enough!" Kitt called out the guard not even budging. "We clear Redgit!?"
"Yeah all clear Kitt." Redgit confirmed.
"Alright, now either you do what I say or I'm going to stick this shotgun up your tail hole and blow the top of your fucking head off...understand?!" Kitt snarled out and pressed the barrel of the gun to the wolf's neck.
He quickly nodded in pure terror.
"Good boy...now get on your radio and tell you're friends outside and in the front you need back up because you've caught us....Understand?! And don't fuck with me." Kitt ordered.
As the guard finished up doing what Kitt told him to do, he cracked him over the back of the head with the stock of the shotgun, knocking him out. Kitt dropped the shotgun and went to walk back out the main lobby door. "Let's go."
After a cautious drive, Kitt pulled up to his apartment. The three wolves sat, silently, letting the adrenaline and fears drip away after what they just went through. "So what did you find out?" Kitt said as he handed Redgit a cold beer and also offered one to Jonas even though he's really young.
"Well not really anything that's so blatant but it seems that several wolves, all of which eventually became Hun-gar candidates. All were taken at an extremely young age by the military although you were raised by the military anyway. They were tested and tested, for what I don't know but your name is on the list, as is the Alpha's." Jonas explained.
"We need to know what they took us for if it's to be of any use..." Kitt sighed.
"Not necessarily think about it, they've gone to a lot of trouble to hide these records, there was a lot of security on these files just us saying that we know would probably make a lot of people nervous and the Alpha has to know something. You may be able to trap him into telling us what's going on." Jonas explained.
Kitt shook his head. "It's a long shot Jonas. Alec's execution is tomorrow too. I'm going to need you both there. Jonas, I'll need you to patch in a feed to record and broadcast everything said there, not just here, everywhere."
Jonas nodded. "I figured as much..."
