A Place in the Universe chapter 3
#3 of The Great Balancing
Chapter 3: Quest for Answers
Kitt programmed the navigational co-ordinates into the ship's computer and sat back in the flight seat, flipping through the pages of the Hun-Gar Ess.
The ship screeched out of the atmosphere of Fortentis and with a bright flash from the engines a blue and white swirling vortex opened in space just ahead of the ship, sending it into hyperspace.
The trip to the first location, would take Kitt to the planet Tantri, a major starship construction world; the information computer detailed it as being a frigid artic planet, most of the surface was covered by the capitol city known as Tan; even in hyperspace it would take several days to get there.
Kitt sat there in silence for hours thumbing through the pages of the ancient training manual, but even though he was schooled in the language of the elders, he couldn't decipher all of it and what he could didn't make much sense, it all spoke in metaphors and imagery. So he shrugged, putting the book down and went to explore the rest of the ship. Seeing that Gall had really left him setup, clothing, a gym and in the lower bay Kitt was astonished to see his car, sitting there quietly waiting to be driven. Kitt ran his fingers down one of the sides and popped the door open; in the back seat a black leather sword carry case. He looked in the case and drew a sword, resembling a Spanish rapier, a thin long straight mirror finished blade that reflected the light, the hilt a polished gold wire wrapped in an intricate pattern over the handle acting as a guard.
Kitt smiled and took a practice swing, the blade making a soft wine as it pierced the air. He re-sheathed the weapon and carried it along side his body as he went to get changed for a workout.
Over three days in hyperspace, all Kitt did was eat, train and occasionally sleep, forcing his muscles back to where they once were. The gym was littered with scratch marks where Kitt had slashed into the walls with the sword.
Kitt was on his forepaws, perfectly still, upside down lowering and pushing himself back up, his chest and shoulder muscles bulged, searing with pain from being extended so hard. Then a soft chime sounded from the internal speakers; Kitt eyes opened he flipped himself over, shaking his arms gently walking up to the flight deck.
The computer console flashed, indicating his immanent arrival at Tantri and with a flash and the same swirling vortex, Kitt's ship re-entered normal space. His ship soared towards Tantri through the star speckled expanse of space. The white clouded blue artic planet closing by the second; surrounded by hundreds if not thousands of other starships, buzzing around, some of them more than ten kilometers long.
Kitt's silvery craft coasted through the atmosphere as it approached one of the free ports of the capitol city. Making a semi-gentle landing on the slick snow covered tarmac. Kitt began shutting down the flight systems and threw on a black leather jacket.
He walked out onto the landing platform he was instantly hit with a wall of frigid air and even though Kitt had a thick coat of wolf fur, the extreme cold soaked right through him. Once inside the dome protected city, it was all right, nice and climate controlled.
The city was massive, bigger than anything Kitt had ever seen before, great buildings spanning more than four hundred stories into the air and some sunk more than a hundred into the planet's surface through huge chasms. Thousands of furs of all different species milled around, going to homes, businesses or just general tourism. Kitt stepped up to one of the many information terminals scattered around the exit of the Freeport. He typed in the name of the contact, a Ven Lagosi. The computer took a moment to search for a match, soon coming up with an address, according to the match however this person was located quite some distance from where Kitt was now. So he started walking towards the inter-planet transit system. Along the way Kitt got this odd sense, causing him to look around, almost like he were being followed, but he didn't see anyone suspicious, so he carried on his way.
Kitt sat in the elongated train like vehicle coasting along the top of the dome, the buildings whipping by. Nearly two hours passed by before Kitt reached his destination so he was a bit hungry, stopping in a small pub like restaurant. He sat and placed his order; still feeling as though he were being watched was there. As he looked about he sees two wolves sitting at the end of the bar occasionally glancing in his direction.
Kitt sighed and sipped at his coffee, then got up and made a bold move, taking a seat right next to the wolves. "So do you guys come here often?"
The wolves looked at each other then back down at their drinks.
"Oh ...not the conversational types huh?" Kitt smirked "You know when you're tailing someone you really shouldn't make it so obvious." Kitt saw the wolf right next to him; put his paw into his jacket. Shifting, Kitt slid his paw over top of the wolf's then gave a quick smile before forcing the wolf to draw his gun against his own chest and pull the trigger; with a loud bang the back of the wolf exploded sending a geyser of blood over the floor. Spinning around the now dead wolf, Kitt whipped his new gun out and pointed it directly at the forehead of the one wolf left alive even before he could get his paw close to his own weapon.
"You've got five seconds..." Kitt said as the pub rapidly drained of any other clientele.
"We're ISS sent to track you and bring you back dead or alive." The wolf said absolutely terrified. Kitt noticed the wolf look behind him, and turned sharply smashing the wolf across the muzzle with his elbow, snapping off two shots into the chest of a leather clad lion, sending him tumbling through a wooden table.
The bar now completely empty except for Kitt and the six attackers, Kitt made to shoot one of them but had his weapon snapped out of his paw by another feline morph. Kitt reacted, sliding back and spinning to the side to avoid a straight kick from a German Shepard, in mid spin Kitt grabbed an empty beer bottle from the bar top smashing it over the Shepard's skull; shattering the bottle into a million pieces and spilling the dog's blood.
From behind Kitt was caught in a tight bear hug, the assailant squeezing and compressing his ribcage and lungs. A rat lunged forward with a large serrated knife, Kitt struggled against the clutches of the large fur, lashing his leg out, kicking the blade out of the rat's paw and simultaneously flipping over the shoulder of the fur who was holding him; as Kitt landed he saw this massive black furred bear, who quickly turned and brought his fist down upon Kitt.
Kitt dashed to the side landing his fist into the kidneys of the bear. The fur chuckled and hit Kitt with his huge forearm, crushing into Kitt's chest and sending him through a table.
Kitt flipped to his feet and was instantly attacked by the other four, a flurry of punches and kicks were thrown, for every one Kitt managed to block, two more land. Kitt let out a growl and lunged at a fox, sticking his foot into the his gut, then twisting his body he snapped his foot into the side of the fox's knee, with a loud snap and a scream of agony, Kitt sliced through the joint, then tossed the broken fox helplessly into an attacking Doberman morph.
The rat that had the knife and the cat that had snapped Kitt's gun out of his paw, slid up, one behind the other in front of Kitt. Somewhere in the middle of the brawl growled fiercely as if something snapped; Kitt's movements became so fast that neither the rat nor the feline could keep up and soon ended up broken, smashed, piles of fur lying crumpled on the floor.
Kitt spotted the Doberman behind him about to crack a bar stool over his head; Kitt grinned and leapt off his feet, doing a full front flip, his foot paws in mid flight shattered the stool and crushed into the Doberman's muzzle.
As Kitt landed he saw the bear just a few feet in front of him. He smiled and waved the bear to come and attack. The gigantic fur obliged and rushed forward, throwing his fist towards Kitt's face. Kitt blocked the fist off to the side and struck the bear in the chest with a powerful kick but still doing very little damage to the solid mass of muscle. Kitt tossed out an incredible set of kicks, moving all over the bear, eventually taking its toll. Kitt felt a sudden tingle and surge of energy, strength, he leapt off his feet again and what seemed like in slow motion to Kitt's eyes, he saw everything around him, the entire bar with the broken tables and furniture, the unconscious furs, even himself suspended in mid-air, he locked in on an unprotected part of the bear's neck. With a loud whoosh time picked up again a blue glow surrounded Kitt's foot as his mid-air spin reached it's pinnacle, Kitt's leg soared out smashing dead into the weak spot and for a moment it seems to go dead quiet before a loud snap echoed the bar room, the bear's head flopped back hanging limp, followed by the bear's body collapsing to the brown tiled floor.
Kitt stood panting, motionless in the middle of the chaos when he felt a paw come to rest on his shoulder; reacting Kitt swiveled around, bringing his fist up about to strike.
"You fought well for someone so young." A tall lanky looking fox said. His fur faded reddish brown and a slim but bushy tail.
Kitt didn't flinch, his fist still balled up, ready to knock the fox on his ass. "Who are you?"
The fox's expression calm and no fear what so ever. "My name is Ven Lagosi; I believe you were looking for me, right?"
Kitt fist dropped. "How did you know?"
"I think it'd be best if we talked else where, the police will be here momentarily."
Kitt hesitated for an instant then followed the fox's lead after hearing sirens in the distance growing closer.
They arrived at a run down warehouse district, littered with garbage, abandoned vehicles and the homeless. Ven took Kitt into one of the smaller buildings that looked as if it may topple over at any moment; made of this rusted out steal and covered in shattered windows. After being lead through a series of winding corridors and hidden doors it was like stepping into another world, a lavishly decorated, spacious open loft. Just below it at the middle through a thick glass floor Kitt could see a even larger smooth light grey steel the walls made up of six foot by six foot panels sporadically littered with smaller hatched
"Welcome to my home...I didn't catch your name."
Kitt shook out of his shock and looked to the fox. "Oh, it's Kitt of the Alistair pack..."
Ven smiled and went to the kitchen part of the open designed loft. "So you're Gall's new prodigy...he always seems to find the good but troubled."
Not entirely sure what he meant, Kitt simply nodded and took a seat across the counter. "I take it you knew Gall then? Well there's that at least."
"So Kitt, what brings you here? What do you want?" Ven said quite bluntly.
"Well I, uh...I don't really know. Gall gave me this list of names, you just happened to be one of the closest."
"Why don't you know what you want, I mean everyone knows something they desire." Ven said pouring a cup of coffee then handed it to Kitt.
"Okay..." Kitt took the coffee and sipped at it. "I want to go back to the Lupine Home world, avenge Gall's death, get my mate back and knock that prick of an Alpha on his ass."
Ven let out a soft chuckle. "Alright, how do you plan on doing so? The Alpha is an extremely powerful opponent."
With a soft sigh, he nodded again. "I noticed that, and I dunno. That's why I'm here; Gall said that I could find these people and that they'd help me. I've been trying to read and study the Hun-Gar Ess, but I don't understand it, it doesn't tell me how to do anything."
After taking a sip of his own coffee, Ven sat across from Kitt. "Heh, I'm not surprised you don't get it. The Ess...it does tell you how to do most basic things but you need to know how to visualize it first. After that your energy will flow how you want it to, as you sort of experienced when you took out that brute of a bear."
Kitt had heard of these things before, but only in legend and fairy tails or in exaggerations by his teachers to help explain certain methods of training but had always passed them off as never being true; And would have continued to think so had he not gone through the last couple months. Everything Ven said just seemed to make sense now.
After a well-prepared meal Ven took Kitt down into his steel training room. "This is the place I train most of my students, here you'll experience some of the most rigorous exercise you'll ever go through. The walls are a reinforced duranium so don't worry about damaging them...now lets see what you can do."
Kitt shrugged and began doing one of the first student Hun-gar forms, his body flowing along the floor, slow at first then speeding up, ending with Kitt back where he started, he bows to Ven and stands at attention.
"Good, your form and concentration are near perfect. Let's see how you do under five gravities."
Kitt looked puzzled for a moment. Then a low hum emanated from the walls and suddenly Kitt was thrust to the ground his body feeling like it weighed a ton. Growling and shaky he pushed his muscles to bring him to one knee.
"Use your energy Kitt, picture it balling up in your center then expand it, use it to make yourself stronger." Ven said not even fazed by the gravity. "This room can generate up to 110 gravities, you will be expected to exceed that."
Kitt breaths heavily trying to focus and control, visualizing what Ven had told him and to his astonishment it works, kind of. He was able to stand up; his legs twitched and shook barely able to keep upright.
"I'm going to leave you in here for an hour then you'll have thirty minutes of rest and after that I'll begin your real training." Ven turned around and left the room, Kitt panting and sweating.
From above Ven watched and smiled as he saw Kitt gradually adjusting, first with small moves like walking turning into short fighting patterns. Near the end of the hour Kitt was doing single-handed cartwheels and flying kicks with relative ease.
Kitt finished up a form as the hum died down followed by the gravity returning to normal, Kitt's body seeming lighter than air, extremely disorientating, his body quivered.
Ven soon entered the room with a smile. "How do you feel?"
Sweat pouring through his fur Kitt made a stumble forward, falling to his knees. "Really weird actually but amazingly good...that was incredible."
The fox helped Kitt to his feet and took him out, sitting him on a couch. "You did well for your first time, training in enhanced gravity is hard and disorientating the first time, that will pass though." Ven brought Kitt a jug of water. "Rest now, we start again in a half hour."
Kitt and Ven stand apart from each other, the low hum indicating the high gravity.
"Now that you are accustom to this environment I can start to show you how to use it for your benefit. I was telling you before about how you had already had a glance into your own energy, that time was by pure reflex and adrenaline but if you wish to beat anyone who has trained with these skills you must know how to control it by will. So first relax you mind, I want you to go into a meditative state focus on seeing the patterns of energy within yourself."
Kitt nodded and took a long deep cleansing breath, closing his eyes. At first it's all dark but as he drifted further into this meditation it was not just the hum of the gravity generator he heard several tones form himself his body loud and buzzing with its own hum.
"What do you see Kitt?" Ven asked moving around Kitt.
"Nothing, it's all black..."
"To us energy is color, everyone depicts a certain color, and what do you see in yourself?"
Kitt focused in more them hum became bands of light, blurred and unrecognizable at first but as Kitt calmed he saw blue streaks with a faint gold undertone "Blue, a near white blue, with gold just hidden beneath."
"Good, move your senses outwards try and picture the room, even myself."
As Kitt pushed his mind out he saw the pale orange of the heavy gravity and Ven, a bright vibrant purple, then in a flash he felt the purple energy lashing out at him. Snapping his eyes open just in time to throw his wrist out to block the fox's fist coming at his face.
"Very good Kitt, by being able to see the energy around you, it drastically increases your response times. Now defend yourself!"
Ven pushed forward, sweeping his leg sweeping behind Kitt's ankle, now able to sense this shift in energy; he lifted his leg over the sweep, kicking his foot out at the slim fox's head. Ven easily deflected Kitt's muscular leg away.
The two exchanged blows for nearly a minute straight, taking its toll and the gravity weighing down on Kitt's broadly built body.
Kitt leapt off Ven flipping backwards landing on his footpaws only to have the fox whip a purple sphere of energy at him, striking Kitt dead in the chest. Helplessly, Kitt was tossed back, thumping into the steel floor and rolling to a stop two and a half meters from where he was.
"Lesson number two Kitt; how to project your energy for combat purposes" Ven offered a paw and helped Kitt to his feet.
Kitt shook his head and rubbed his chest. "Uh huh..."
"With your knowledge of how to sense your own energy, you can also go one step further and actually turn it into a weapon or transfer it into another person. But just be careful every time you do so, you get weaker and weaker and could die from it."
Kitt nodded "Okay, how do we start?"
Ven smiled and patted Kitt on the shoulder. "Gall would be proud of you. To start, first center yourself again, when you see the ribbons that make up your body, push to find the center. You need to concentrate the energy into what is called a ki sphere. As you do so, you'll create what is called a ki spike, the point where you are at the maximum intensity your energy can get. In your senses you'll also be able to feel when another person reaches this point. To the untrained it'll look like this..."
Ven took a step back and balled up his fists, his lanky muscles surged and bulged as a purple glow surrounded his body; Ven growled as the purple pulsed out making a translucent sphere around his body. Kitt was pushed back a few steps by the shear concussion of it.
The fox let out his breath and the sphere dissipated leaving the room quiet again. "That's basically it...your turn."
Kitt closed his eyes, envisioning the bands of living energy around his body then looked deeper, soon finding a small golden ball buried at his center. "I've got it."
"With your mind, make the ball expand, make it encompass the ribbons." Ven instructed.
Kitt bared his teeth as tries to make the golden ball do what he wants. Around the wolf's body a faint blue light appeared, in Kitt's mind the sphere grew but collapsed suddenly and with a huge rush of weakness Kitt fell to the floor panels, panting heavily.
"I-I...I couldn't do it." Kitt exclaimed in a gasping breath.
"Don't worry about it, it takes time and for the first try you did amazing. You should rest now; we'll pick this up in the morning."
Kitt lay sprawled out on the bed Ven had setup for him, actually getting the first goodnight's sleep he'd had in months. But his mind and body was still filled with this anxious energy from learning all these new things. So at about three in the morning Kitt was up padding around Ven's loft, looking at the massive collection of stuff from so many different worlds. It was quite obvious that Ven liked to travel.
After gawking for a bit Kitt threw on his black pants and this tight faded green t-shirt, and adorned his leather waistcoat and headed outside.
There was a bit of a chill in the air due to the climate regulators being turned down. Kitt made his way out of the run down warehouse district on to a street lined with clubs and bars, all crammed with the nightlife, loud music thumping all along. The one good thing about this planet was that in the information it that it was an open society and gay friendly.
So with that in mind, Kitt also clipped on his pride chain, shiny chrome linked chain holding a paw emblem colored by a rainbow pattern, the universal symbol for being gay.
This was also the first time Kitt could wear this, since what the Lupine Home world was like. It'd been near impossible for him to even get it in the first place.
Kitt walked along the street, looking about at everything, it seemed like just moving took on a whole new light, he could feel all the energy swirling around him, seeing into people and the different colors.
Eventually Kitt came across a dance club, called the 'Port of Call', what really attracted Kitt to this place was the big pride symbol in the main window. Kitt headed inside and was instantly hit with by the heavy pulse pounding dance music, practically packed to the walls with furs dancing, drinking, and generally having a great time.
Kitt waded through the crowed to the bar, and ordered up a beer and a pack of cigarettes, he'd not had one in weeks and was really dying for one. He lit up and turned around swigging back on the beer just admiring the scenery, many of the furs on the dance floor where quite attractive, moving to the music with small glowing plastic tubes in each paw.
Kitt took another sip of his drink and went to turn around but has his drink knocked from his paw. He looked and saw a young coyote standing there.
"I am so sorry about that!" The brown and gray mottled furred coyote yelled over the music.
Kitt smiled and picked up of the bottle put it on the bar. "No, it's okay, don't worry about it."
"Let me get you another..." The coyote signaled to the bar tender, and then paid for another green bottle of beer, passing it to Kitt and smiled. "I'm Patrick."
Kitt nodded and sipped at the new drink. "Kitt...thanks."
"You look new here..."
"What makes you say that?" Kitt said.
"Well you're alone here and to be honest, we don't get many wolves coming through here, especially wearing those." Patrick responded, gesturing at Kitt's chain.
Kitt chuckled. "Guess not...well I am new here, just visiting a friend."
"Oh that's cool. Would you like to dance?"
"Hum...well I uh..."
"C'mon, it'll be fun!" Patrick pushed.
"Alright, okay" Kitt chugged back his drink and finished off his smoke, dumping his jacket at the coat check then met Patrick out on the dance floor.
They began bouncing to the hard techno beat, Pat handed two of the small glowing plastic sticks to Kitt, one a vibrant red and the other a deep purple.
At first Kitt wasn't sure how to use them, then he watched Patrick with his own and within a couple minutes Kitt and Patrick had their own clear circle on the floor, furs all around cheering and howling as the two whip the glow sticks around and around. Kitt was getting pretty into it when Patrick backed up into his chest and started rubbing up and down with his back. For a while this made Kitt slightly uncomfortable but that soon faded as they continued to dance.
They did that for hours it seemed until it was announced that the sun was coming up and it would be the last set of music. Kitt and Patrick made their way off the dance floor and ordered up a couple large bottles of water.
"You're amazing Kitt, you picked up those glow sticks like they were nothing." Patrick said, chugging back some of the water.
Kitt smiled putting his bottle down, already had thrown back most of it. "I'm a quick study, what can I say? You're incredible with them yourself."
Pat chuckled and blushed, "So how long you gonna be on Tantri?"
Kitt shrugged, "Not quite sure, awhile though."
"Oh good then I'll definitely see you around!"
Kitt nodded. "I hope so."
Patrick put his bottle down and shifted his paw onto Kitt's knee and before Kitt could say anything, the coyote moved forward and took Kitt into a deep full muzzle kiss.
Quickly breaking off Pat smiles and stood up, "Me too" he turned and padded out of the club, leaving Kitt still as a statue, shocked out of his mind.
It was 7am before Kitt made it back to Ven's place, his mind a jumble about what had just happened, he thought. "Ya, I liked it...a lot. But should I have...what about Alec."
With a low growl he entered the loft, seeing Ven already up, preparing breakfast.
"Couldn't sleep?" Ven inquired.
"Wasn't really tired..." Kitt responded.
Ven plated up the breakfast he'd prepared and passed a plate to Kitt.
"Ah, well after today, you should be."
The two of them ate then Kitt took a quick shower before changing into his work out shorts and muscle shirt and then met Ven in the training room.
"I'm going to increase the gravity to 10 times normal; while I let you adjust I want you to focus more on expanding your energy sphere."
Kitt nodded and bowed to his fox teacher. The generators started up with the low bass hum followed by a distortion wave falling from the ceiling, looking like a wave washing over the room, as soon as the wave hit's Kitt, his body feel like it weighed two tons.
Ven smiled and left the room, and Kitt began to move around forcing his body to work normally. After a few moments Kitt could walk around without much effort and stopped in the center of the room, calming his breath and closing his eyes. He envisioned his own energy centering in on the golden sphere, Kitt began to expand it, clenching his fists; his biceps and abs muscles tensed and bulged. Kitt let out a long growl as he saw the sphere surge out more and more and encompasses his original blue ribbons making them yellow and gold. He felt the surge of energy and shot his eyes open, seeing himself floating a foot off the floor with a small swirling mass of white energy whirling around his body.
Ven reentered with a large grin on his muzzle. "I see you got it."
The sound of Ven's voice shattered Kitt's concentration and sent him tumbling to the steel floor.
"Well mostly anyway, heh" Ven chuckled and helped Kitt to his feet.
"That...was amazing!! I-I was floating." Kitt exclaimed in an exasperated state.
"Yes you were...I didn't think you'd be able to do that so quickly."
Kitt grinned and laughed "This is so cool!!"
Four days passed with Kitt doing little else than training in the room, pushing nearly 30 gravities. Ven had given Kitt several small attack drones, about one foot diameter black spheres that fired stinging energy bolts.
Ven watched through the glass floor as Kitt hopped from place to place dodging each bolt, still catching one every once in a while.
Kitt got pinned in a corner after dodging a blast and had another launched right at his head. In a split second response, Kitt threw his arms out and created his own white sphere of energy, which the bolt slammed into, Kitt held it there as the bolt tried to force its way into Kitt.
The muscles bulging, sweat dripping wolf growled and let out a yell, pushing more energy into his white sphere, over taking the bolt thrusting it back at the drone, causing it to burst and explode, shaking the loft and filling the room with billows of smoke.
Two or three minutes pass as the smoke was slowly vented out, revealing Kitt standing perfectly calm in the center of the scarred training hall.
The gravity dropped back to normal as Ven walked in. "Impressive young Kitt, your power is sky rocketing."
Kitt turned to the fox with a slight smile.
"Now, you should take a couple days off." Ven said.
Kitt looked a bit confused to Ven. "Uhm, thanks but I'd rather just stay and keep training."
"That really wasn't a suggestion there Kitt. You will take the time off. How can you train to your full potential if your body and mind are exhausted?"
Kitt sighed and nodded. "Alright...fine."
After showering and sleeping for a few hours Kitt changed into his tight black clubbing clothes and headed out along the same club strip, finding Port of Call where he met the young coyote a week ago.
It was earlier in the night so it wasn't as busy Kitt grabbed himself a beer and lit up a cigarette then moved to one of the pool tables near the back of the room. The music wasn't as loud, just enough to make Kitt feel the bass, there were a few furs milling around the tables. Kitt stepped up to an empty table and racked up the balls, idly taking shots, not doing terribly badly but you could tell he wasn't the universe's best.
"Care to have a game?" An older voice said. As Kitt turned and looked up he saw a slim shirtless lion, not very well built, his fur a brownish red with a lighter blonde mane around his head.
Kitt smiled. "Sure, why not...you're breaking."
The two played for a half hour, Kitt winning by one ball. He lined up on the eight ball to go into the corner pocket when he felt a paw brush up along his butt, causing Kitt to shiver and sent the cue ball off on the opposite angle, completely missing the black eight.
Kitt looked up to see who'd screwed up his shot and saw Patrick, the coyote.
"Oooo...sorry about that Kitt!!"
Kitt shrugged and put the cue down on the table and shook the paw of the lion. "Enh, it's alright Pat, at least there wasn't any money on it."
"That's good...I'd hate to think I would have cost you any money."
Kitt and Pat stepped up to the bar and order their drinks. They sat and chatted for quite a while as the club steadily started to fill up, by eleven at night the music has been turned up to it extreme levels and close to a hundred furs cram the place.
Patrick suggested going somewhere a little quieter, so they both left the Port of Call, just walking down the street. They turned into a small-secluded park, laughing and just enjoying each other's company; then out of nowhere Kitt hugged to Patrick tightly, causing a soft 'mmm' to slip Patrick's muzzle.
"Don't move, but we're being followed." Kitt whispered into Pat's ear.
The coyote tensed up, his fight or flight instincts kicking in hard. "What do we do?!"
"Just stay behind me..." Kitt broke the hug and sharply turned to face three big burly badgers that didn't look too friendly. "Good evening gentle furs, how're we doing?"
The one who seemed to be the leader, a ratty furred dirty looking brute, spoke up. "We don't want fags hanging around our parks!"
Kitt smirked relieved that these guys weren't more bounty hunters. "Ah, gay bashers, how lovely, whelp, bring it on, I have to get on with my evening."
Patrick gripped Kitt's arms tightly. "What are you doing?! We're just slightly out numbered here."
"Don't worry." Kitt said completely clam.
The badgers fanned out on either side of Kitt, two armed with steel pipes and the lead one appearing not to be armed.
Kitt turned his head a bit. "Patrick, when I say make a break for the street."
"What about you??" he shakily whispered.
One of the attacker's leapt in swinging the pipe at Kitt's back.
Kitt responded twisting Pat around and towards the street, catching the pipe in his paw. "Go! Now!!" Kitt yelled out as he twisted the badger's arm around knocking the pipe away. The lead badger chased after Patrick as the other two attacked Kitt.
Kitt grinned as he crushed the trapped badger's chest, tripping into the slow motion view, seeing the second badger rushing up behind. Kitt vaulted up into the air gracefully, seeing his attack. Time rushed back to normal as Kitt corkscrewed mid air, clubbing the badger in front with his fist and perfectly timing the second strike, nailing the one behind in the muzzle sending him sailing into a large trunked tree.
Kitt landed without so much as breaking a sweat when he heard a cry for help from Patrick. Kitt growled and surged his energy, cracking the concrete below him. He soared off into the air leaving a blue vapor trail behind him. He soon saw Pat cornered by the last badger and a rather large handgun pointed at the pup's head. Kitt jetted down into the alley creating a loud boom as he landed, wind knocking trashcans and debris down the alley.
The badger turned sharply to see the dark six foot tall hulking wolf growling fiercely his eyes lit up with anger, his blue aura pulsating around him. With a stark look of fear on his muzzle he whipped his gun around and snapped off several shots. All seemed to travel in slow motion, the vapor and concussion trails expanding in concentric circles as the bullets flew.
Kitt flared his aura, cutting a large trench into the buildings on either side of the alley, the bullets melted and disintegrate the moment they touched Kitt's energy. Then there was a flash and Kitt seemed to disappear and then reappear a second later right in front of the badger, delivering a hard punch right to his throat. The badger was knocked back, with such force his body punctured the brick wall blocking off the alley, leaving a blood red splatter mark where the body burst on impact.
Kitt calmed himself and lowered his ki, leaving the alley dark and eerily quiet, Pat stood there like a statue starring at Kitt.
"Pat, you alright?" Kitt asked.
The coyote didn't move, until Kitt put his paw on his shoulder, then he shuddered back to reality.
"Wha...what the hell are you?!" Patrick practically shouted.
Kitt smiled "Just your average wolf..."
"Bullshit! I've never seen anything like that."
"Pat, it's not important, all that is, is that you are alright." Kitt said in a soothing tone. "Now we'd better get out of here."
Patrick nodded and the two walked away from the war zone.
Kitt escorted Pat back to his apartment. "Would you like to come in?" Pat asked.
"Uhm, thank you but no, I think I'd better be getting home." Kitt said not entirely confident about his answer.
Pat sighed and hugged Kitt tightly, and then locked his muzzle on to Kitt's kissing him deeply. The two exchanged kisses for a couple minutes, Patrick's paws roaming over Kitt's chiseled chest, Kitt gripping onto the coyote's sides.
Kitt gasped and suddenly pulled away when he felt a paw slip down into the front of his pants.
"I-I...I'm sorry Kitt, I didn't mean too..." Patrick quickly apologized.
Kitt's lower jaw quivers a bit. "No...it's, uh...I'd better be going, call you..." Kitt turned away and walked down the hall not looking back.
Patrick closed and locked the door sighing and wrapping his paws around his chest and leaned up against the door. "What have I gotten myself in to...?" he muttered to himself.
He slowly padded over to the phone and puts in a small black plastic card into it, soon followed the image of a chestnut brown furred wolf, dressed in a black with gold trim highly decorated military uniform.
"What do you have to report?" The wolf said in a deep, commanding voice.
"General, the attack went off with out a hitch, Kitt took them out with no problem...but." Patrick explained.
"But, but what? We didn't get you out of prison to ask questions."
"Yes sir, I'm having doubts about whether I can accomplish the mission, he's not the same as your reports have suggested."
"It doesn't matter, we still have our contract, take the target out or you're going back to Anuris, and I'm pretty sure being disemboweled there is a lot worse then what you have to do...do you understand?" The wolf growled.
"Yes...sir...I'll get the job done."
"Good, see that you do." The wolf said then abruptly stopped the call.
Patrick slumped back in a chair sitting there in the dark and silence.
Kitt entered into the loft, seeing that there's apparently no one home. He walked to the glace floor looking into the training room, and saw the fox, floating cross-legged in the middle of the room, fifteen drones whipped across the space, firing bolt after bolt, none seeming to hit, some passing right through Ven.
To Kitt however, he saw Ven moving side to side, back and forth, dodging each shot at blinding speed. Kitt sat scanning over the pages of the Hun-gar Ess, actually understanding it now, when Ven sauntered out into the loft.
"Get into trouble tonight?" he asked.
Kitt looked up and smirked. "Nothing I couldn't handle."
"You have to be careful where and when you show your power. It'll get you into trouble." Ven said very seriously.
"It was required at the time Ven, and nobody was around." Kitt responded.
Ven nodded and moved to the kitchen, pouring himself a glass of water.
"Tomorrow I'm only going to train for half the days, and then I have to go out and take care of some stuff." Kitt explained.
Ven's ears perked and gave Kitt an inquisitive look. "Oh?"
"Just dinner with a friend"
"Okay, just be careful..."
Kitt lifted his body off the ground with one paw, 40 gravities pounding against his figure then vaulted to his foot paws, slipping down to avoid a red bolt from a drone. Kitt put his paws to the floor and generated a ki blast that rocketed him into the air to dodge two more.
Kitt was about to return fire when a chime echoed in the large room, shutting the drones off and returning the gravity to normal.
Kitt changed into a respectable outfit, black dress pants and a black button up shirt. After throwing on his leather jacket he bid Ven a good night and headed out.
As Kitt ventured into Patrick's building he stepped up the stairs but there's an eerie silence and feel but Kitt just shrugged it off and continued to the apartment.
With a few knocks, the small-framed coyote opened the door but didn't have his usual smile on his muzzle, more a serious monotone expression.
"Hello Kitt..." he said.
"Hey Pat, something wrong" Kitt inquired.
"Nah, just been one of those days, won't you come it?"
Kitt nodded and padded in looking around seeing it very dark "Something up with your lights?"
Patrick closed and locked the door, and then Kitt heard the hammer being pulled back on a handgun. "E-everything is as it should be."
Kitt turned slowly to see Pat pointing a gun at him. "What are you doing Pat?" Kitt asked.
"My job...I'm sorry Kitt." Patrick quietly answered.
Pat, pulled the trigger, the bullet was sent flying at Kitt, who twisted his body, the projectile just barely passing Kitt's head and putting a large hole in the wall.
Then in a split second Kitt was behind Pat and his pistol was knocked out of his paw.
"What's going on?!" Kitt said with a growl.
Patrick attempted to struggle against Kitt but failed. "I'm sorry Kitt, I had to..." Kitt thrust the coyote forward.
"Look Kitt, I was hired by your government to take you out."
Kitt sneered and turned around to leave.
"Wait! Please, you don't understand." Patrick pled.
The built wolf stopped and shut the door but didn't turn back.
"I was sentenced to death on the Anuris Lupine prison facility because I'd gotten involved with the wrong wolf. They told me if I could kill you, I would be free to go home. Please forgive me."
For a moment Kitt stood there silently; 'on the one paw he did try and kill me and is working for the Alpha', Kitt thought, 'but on the other, if this is true, then he had no choice, Lupine execution is not a pretty thing.' "Okay...fine, I understand" Kitt finally said.
Just as Patrick was about to say something, the large window that lead out onto the balcony shattered and Pat's chest was ripped open, spraying blood onto the floor and walls.
Kitt rushed to catch Pat before he hit the floor. "Patrick!!!" he yelled.
Gasping for air as his blood gushed from his body "K-Kitt...I'm sorry...I never....never.... wanted this..." Patrick's eyes rolled back and his body slumped lifeless in Kitt's arms.
A second of silence passed before a heavy wind picked up, then through the shattered window a large rectangular bulky hover gunboat appeared, with Tan police markings.
"Kitt Alistair, stay where you are, you are under arrest." A voice sounded from the gunboats loud speakers.
Kitt looked at Patrick's lifeless body, growled a bit and stood up, reaching for Pat's handgun. The gunboat turned pointing its huge multi-barreled gattling cannons into the apartment. "We have the building surrounded, drop your weapon and place your paws on your head." They commanded.
With his teeth barred Kitt snapped the gun up and took a single shot at the armored cockpit glass which didn't have a hope of piercing only leaving a large gash across it. In return the gunner pulled the trigger, starting the barrels rotating and with a long whine the guns start off loading hundred's of bullets into the building, shredding Patrick's apartment like it were made of paper.
After the burst and the smoke clears, Kitt was nowhere to be seen. The pilot switched to his thermal sights, seeing Kitt's heat signature dashing down the hall towards the stairs. The gunboat shifted, strafing along the side of the building, sending countless numbers of high velocity rounds into the structure. As Kitt ran, the walls behind him seem to melt as they're torn apart by the bullets.
They stopped firing as they neared the end of the building and the staircase. Kitt saw the gunboat soar by as it repositioned by that time Kitt had had enough, slipping the gun into his jacket pocket, he snarled and cupped his paws at his side pushing his ki up, a swirling blue orb formed between his paws.
The gunboat floated right in front of him, the Gatling guns fired, ten bullets in a fraction of a second launch towards Kitt, the airwaves traveling off, expanding as they flew. Just before the bullets hit the glass, Kitt shouted and cast his ki blast, it rocketing out his palms, vaporizing the glass and the projectiles, quickly striking the gunboat, causing it to erupt and explode into the building behind it, leaving a massive 4-story crater.
Kitt flew down the rest of the stairs as fast as his foot paws could take him, throwing open the double doors into the long marble stone lobby; several large pillars line either side.
"Kitt Alistair, place you paws in the air!" the police shouted, fifteen or twenty officers has already positioned themselves behind the pillars.
The dark pissed off wolf stood there, his gun in paw. "You want some...come and get it!" Kitt shouted in defiance.
The officers raised their guns and began to fire. Kitt dodged to the side, narrowly escaping the bullets as they coast by him, shattering the wall panels behind him. Kitt braced up against one of the pillars as a cop rounded the cylindrical structure, heading right into Kitt and his pistol; Kitt fired, hitting the cop right in the unprotected throat, sending a spurt of blood over the wall.
With a quick move Kitt and kicked the cop's gun up, flipping it in the air and catching it, then booted him in the back, sending the cop flying across the lobby into another officer trying to get position on him.
Kitt spun down to one knee, firing the huge shotgun into the side of the pillar, sending shards of the stone into the face of an Otter police fur.
Out of the corner of his eye Kitt saw another rushing up not having time to re-cock the shotgun he stood up, throwing the gun into the chest of the fur, then leapt into the air side swiping him across the head with his foot. Before hitting the ground, Kitt slipped under the fur and took his machine gun out of his paw, and punched the lion cop in the chest, casting him into and then through one of the pillars.
Kitt dashed down towards the lobby exit to the street, firing burst after burst of rifle bullets into the remaining officers.
Kitt reached the glass, mowing down all twenty of the officers then blasted out of the glass doors onto the street and is confronted by an unbelievable amount of police hardware. Tanks, armored personnel carriers, squad cars, and hundreds of police furs all pointing weapons of every type and caliber at him.
"Oh shit..." Kitt thought to himself as he tossed down his weapon then raised his paws into the air.
In a flash he sensed a ki spike, two of the large tanks exploded sending several officers and squad cars flipping through the air. Then Ven landed right in front of Kitt, his back turned to the police as they opened fire, but none of their weapons could penetrate the large ki shield Ven had erected.
"Your government has, put a rather large contract on your life Kitt..."
Kitt looked over Ven's shoulder at the cops firing at them. "You think?"
"You can't stay here anymore, go to the temple of the light on a planet called Earth, you'll be safe there and they will give you training that I couldn't."
Kitt nodded and saw something this one officer with a strange looking shoulder mounted weapon. It has an orange glow emanating from the barrel then fired a long yellow stream; it hit the shield and began to burrow through it. The beam blew a hole through the shield and struck Ven in the back. Ven shuddered forward, falling into Kitt "Ahhhhh!!!" he shouted out.
"Fuck!" Kitt grabbed Ven then threw his palm out firing a ki bolt into that officer, blowing him through a squad car. "What the hell was that?"
Gasping for air, Ven growled and looked up at Kitt. Kitt grunted and projects his own shield. "What was that?!?"
"...Listen Kitt, there's so much you don't understand..."
Kitt shook, holding up his field as his friend and teacher dies before him. "Don't speak; I'll get you out of here!"
"No...Just listen...it's not coincidence you have these powers, you are more than what you seem to be. Read the Hun-Gar Ess; feel it and you'll understand, you are the 'one'." Ven closed his eyes and just like Patrick a few minutes before, his body went limp in Kitt's paws.
Kitt's muzzle dropped open, his body quivered harder. He slowly stood up, seeing the police reinforcing their ranks, more and more troops now even military, filling into the courtyard. Kitt's mind filled with rage; he felt his ki ball expanding without him even doing anything, a golden aura, not blue this time, surrounded his body. A fierce wind picked up, blowing dust and trees all around. Kitt let out a deep dark, angry howl as he threw his arms to the side a golden vortex was hurled outwards, blasting away every piece of equipment the police had set up, the vortex shattered and cut half a meter into the ground. Then it exploded, a shock wave rocked down the courtyard and into the surrounding block, toppling the building directly across from the apartment.
As the smoke began to clear, Kitt still stood with arms outstretched in the eerie silence, no trace of the police or military were insight, just a half meter deep crescent shaped crater that stretched down half a block remained.
Kitt knelt down beside Ven and gave him one last hug, saying good-bye then forced himself to lift off into the air and soared off towards his ship.
