#3 of The Symbol

Hmm, sorry for a short/probably bad chapter. I've been working 24/7 and my job is really raping my schedule. Tomorrow is my last day of working before I get a weeks break and I'll get back to actually writing. For now, I hope you guys enjoy this chapter. I promise tomorrow's chapter will get better. Hope you all have a good day!

~Disturbia

School went by like a breeze. All my classes seemed pretty straight forward and simple, nothing too hard. I didn't socialize much, I just sped through my work and finished it all early. Afterwards, I just read a random book from the teachers desk and waited for the next bell to ring. I was quite bored, but I was glad my 1st day of school was over.

As the final final class bell rang, a swarm of students poured out of the classrooms into the hall ways, eager to leave the school building. I decided to wait for everyone, including the teachers to exit the building.

After everyone had left, including the teachers, I grabbed my bag, adjusted my coat and exited the building. I noticed it was still raining outside, but it seemed to have gotten worse.

Standing outside I hear the beating of the rain on the thin roof like crinkling of aluminum foil. I walk outside and there's a chill in the air, and thunder rolls across the sky as if someone was bowling on the top of the clouds. Fat raindrops splat on the sidewalk, forming puddles like a pool of tears. The smell similar of cut grass lingers. I look at the street light, and it reveals the rain in the darkness. The sky is a million shades of gray, painting its own pictures in the clouds. The rain suddenly falls lighter, from a steady downpour to a gentle pattering. I pull over my hoodie and proceed to walk back to my house.

I never mined rain, but when it drenches through your coat and onto your fur, it becomes a problem. Though, it seemed odd. I felt uncertainty during my classes and now that I left the building, I feel wholesome and new. Like the rain washed away my troubles and freshened the day. It felt pure and fresh and a reminder there are things in life we have absolutely no control over. I wasn't exactly sure where I got that thought from, it seemed like crazy talk, but it made sense to me.

When I got to my house, a wave of relief swept over me. I was still wondering about Jake for some apparent reason. Every time I thought about him, I had a weird feeling inside me. It was a warm feeling. It was a feeling I had never experienced before. I wasn't sure how to react, but the feeling was unbelievable.

I didn't want to get lost in my feelings again, but I heard a loud deafening *BOOM* of thunder come from outside which made me jump a bit. I looked out my window and saw the rain storm had gotten worse.

"Just my luck." I said. I guess I won't be able to make it to the party. Wait, I totally forgot. Jake had invited me to the party.

I quickly take out my phone and turn it on. I usually have my phone off during school hours just so it doesn't accidentally go off or distract me. When I turned on my phone, I saw I had 1 missed message.

"Hey Kevin! Jake here, the weather seems to be pretty bad, but the party isn't canceling! I'll be sure to pick you up at 6, see you soon! Text me back if you read this message! Thanks!

_~Jake" _

I quickly looked at the time and it read '4:56 pm'. I still had an hour or so before Jake came over. Might as well text him back as soon as possible.

"Hi Jake. I'm here, I'll just be waiting for you until you get here. See you soon.

~Kevin"

*Send*

Sent the message and I still had a good hour. Though, I was wondering what I would do at the party, it has sure been a long time since I've been to a party. The only thing that made me anxious was the amount of people that'd be there, I still wasn't good at socializing and I didn't want to embarrass myself. I just decided to let the situation unfold its self and hope for a good result.

I quickly went to my room to get changed before Jake got here.

~Jake's P.O.V~

"Hello?" I say loudly into my phone.

"Hey Jake! Did he say yes?" An anonymous voice asked.

"Yeah, he agreed to come. What exactly is this for again?" I ask

"Well you know, me and the guys always prank the new students who come here every year. We usually prank those who are gay, and that wolf seemed like the right choice."

"He's gay?" I asked

"Well, we're not sure, but he seems like the type. But here's the plan. You're going to pick him up and take him to the party. You'll ask him if he wants to go to a private run and if he says yes, take him to the special room upstairs. Once there, try to get him to like you, do anything possible to get him to like you, got it?"

"Wait, you mean I have to kiss him if I have to?"

"If you have to, yes."

"Dude, why do you do this? And why did I agree to do this?

"You owe me from that time I saved you form your dad. If I hadn't come in, you're ass would be in military school right about now." The anonymous voice answered.

"But he seems like a nice kid, and I accidentally kind of beat him around this morning. I don't think he deserves to be pranked, especially when you're the one doing it. Can't we prank someone else?" I asked the anonymous voice.

"No dude, it's too late now. Just stick with the plan. If you can get him to like you, we'll take it from there."

"Okay but before I do, can I ask what exactly are you going to do?"

"Don't worry, you'll see."

"Fine, I'll do it. It better not be anything stupid." And with that being said, the anonymous voice hung up.

~Back to Kevin~

Since I was wet, I decided to take a quick warm shower. I took of my clothes and stepped into the shower. I slowly turned the water to warm and just relaxed. After 30 minutes passed by, I heard a knock. I thought it was my imagination, but I then heard it again. I quickly turn off the water and realize someones knocking on my door.

"COMING!" I yell. I quickly grab a towel, wrap it around my waist and put on the nearest shirt I find". I open the door and notice it was Jake.

"Hey Kev-!" Jake stuttered before finishing his sentence and looked at me oddly.

I was pretty confused. "Hey Jake?" I say, waving a paw in front of his face.

He quickly snaps back to reality.

"Oh, sorry. I was just surprised." He says

"At what?" I ask

"Well, you have a towel and I'm pretty sure it looks like it's about to fall off."

I look down and notice my private parts were about to show.

"OH!" I quickly say and close the door real quick.

"Give me a minute!" I say.

"Okay." Jake answers back

I adjust my towel and make sure it's on tight. I quickly open the door and allow Jake to come in.

"Don't worry, I promise I won't look" he says in a teasing tone.

"Oh shut up" I say playfully. "I'll be right back, I have to get changed."

"Alright, take your time, I got here earlier than expected."

I quickly go up to my room and dig through my closet. "Hmm, what to wear?" I asked myself. I was only going to a party, so I should just probably toss on a pair of jeans and a black shirt. But then again, I'm going to be with Jake, maybe something fancy?

There I went again, thinking about Jake. These sudden thoughts and weird feelings were created when ever I thought of Jake. Maybe I am gay, maybe I did like the same-sex. But did that really matter? Would it affect me that much? It was improbable, but it was only a party, and he seemed like a straight guy. I had no chance, and I promised myself I'd just focus on school, not on others.

After a good few minutes of looking through my closet, I finally found a pair of jeans and a white see through shirt that satisfied me. I quickly put them on and head on over to Jake. When I get to my living room, I find him lying on the couch.

"Alright, I'm ready." I say.

"You're going to wear that?" Jake asks me.

"What? Does it look bad?" Crap, I should have worn something nicer. He's even wearing something casual and I'm wearing some random shit.

"Naw, I was just asking. You look sexy." He says winking.

I blush a bit and we proceed to go to his car. It was still raining, but it seemed to have died down a bit. Jake quickly turns on the engine and we head towards the party.

"Don't worry" He tells me. "You'll have a blast!"

I just smiled and gave him a nod. The last thing I saw was the tire tracks left on the street as we drove down the wet lane towards the party.
