Ch.16 Together....
Phillip came out of his sleep without opening his eyes, a smile came across his face when he still felt the husky's paw in his hand and the wolf's arms still around him. The boy rolled over onto his back and held onto one of the wolf's paw with his other hand. He laid there for a little before he felt Husvor move closer. Phillip looked at the anthro to see him smiling at him.
"Morning." Husvor said softly before giving the boy a lick on the cheek.
"Morning." Phillip replied while giving the paw a squeeze.
"See your both up." Came a grumble to Phillip's right, Blaferis sat up and smiled at the boy while pulling him into a tight hug, which the boy happily accepted.
"Do we still have to train this morning?" They all heard on the side.
"You slept most of the day yesterday, so you're well rested." Husvor said.
"So...on vacation." The Dalmatian protested and rolled over to face away from them.
Phillip laughed when Husvor ripped the blanket off the dog and seen him curl up into a ball. "Up, now!" Husvor commanded. "A few hours won't kill you, besides it's more for Phillip's benefit then yours."
"Fine." Scrit said while sitting up and yawning.
.......................................
The sun was barely coming over the woods in the distance as the four made their way into the back yard. "So where are we training at?" Scrit asked while still stretching the morning off.
Blaferis smiled as he walked up beside the Dalmatian. "Staff." He said with his paw out. The anthro looked at the wolf confused while handing him his staff. The wolf took it before he started to walk through the knee high snow, he twirled the weapon around in his paw till he got out to a good distance he was satisfied with. He stopped and held up the staff high above his head before swinging it downward. The snow move out of the path of the staff till the weapon made contact with dirt, the snow blew away from the wolf till it cleared enough area for them to train.
"Husvor and Phillip you're first." The wolf said while he watched the others make their way into the now arena. Blaferis tossed the staff back to Scrit before turning his attention back to the two as they got ready. "Ok, remember. Phillip your still on light duty so I don't want you to be too rough, just go through the movements."
"Yes sir." Phillip said cheerfully. Husvor smiled and held up his sword and moved at Phillip, swinging it from the side.
Hours passed as the four took turns training with one another. None of the anthros used their elements while fighting but they all got a good work out before calling it quits for the day and leaving their weapons against the house, Phillip plopped down onto the couch and let out a sigh.
"Tired little bro?" James said as he walked into the living room and sat beside his little brother.
Phillip nodded. "Just a little."
"Well how you guys train I wouldn't last ten minutes." James laughed. "Their rough on you aren't they."
Phillip couldn't help but laugh. "That's going easy on me."
"Shit." Was all James said as he started flicking through the channels.
Phillip just laughed as he laid his head back and rested for a bit till his mom came in. "Hun, you want to come with me to the store?"
"Sure." Phillip said as he slowly got up and retrieved his jacket. He looked over as seen Husvor came down the steps. "Hey we're going to the store, want to tag along?"
The Husky's tail started to wag. "Sure."
"Where are the others?" Phillip asked.
The husky pointed back at the stairs. "The dog went back to bed for a little while Blaferis just hopped into the shower."
"Alright, then we'll get going." Phillip said as he walked outside and seen his mom just now closed her door to the van. The trip to the store was fairly quiet besides the couple of questions Sarah asked Husvor. Phillip had a smile on his face the whole way while he looked at Husvor and seen him staring out the window at everything that went by like a puppy on a car ride.
They pulled up to the market and they all pilled out. Phillip looked around at all the other shops that were all lined up, the thought about gifts for the anthros popped into his head. They all have done so much for him he decided he wanted to get them something special. "Mom, I'm going to go down this way."
"Okay hun." His mom said while going through her purse.
Before Husvor said anything Phillip interrupted. "I need you to go with her, got something I want to go check."
The anthro laid his ear's back a bit. "You going to be alright by yourself?"
"I should be fine, besides you'll be close enough to know if I need help."
"Alright." Husvor watched as Phillip made his way onto the side walk before he went to catch up to Phillip's mom. The boy made his way down the sidewalk until he came in front of a jewelry shop. He smiled as he walked in and started to look around but didn't see anyone. Phillip ended up walked around the shop a few times before a girl came from the back room.
"Oh, sorry sir...didn't know anyone was here." She laughed.
Phillip gave a small shrug. "It's alright."
The girl leaned forward and placed her hands onto the glass. "So anything I can help you with or are you just window shopping?" she asked with a smile.
Phillip motioned towards the end of the display cases. "I'm actually interested in the bracelets."
"Oh, ok." She walked over to the display and pulled some of the stands out and set them on top of the glass cases. Phillip walked over and started to look over the ones that were pulled, he asked questions about them but the one that he saw that caught his attention the most was a simple silver chained bracelet with a gem in the center.
"How much is this one here?"
The girl looked at it and smiled. "This one here is about $250 and comes in six different kinds of stones."
"What's the other color?"
"One sec." The worker walked over to the cash register and grabbed one of the catalogs and opened it. After finding the page she needed the worker turned it around and showed it to Phillip. "It comes in red, blue, grey, yellow, brown, and black."
"Can I get one with a blue, grey and black?" Phillip asked.
"Yes but I'd have to put the black one on order and should be here in five days, so you can pay for the three and can get the other two now if you want."
"Can I pay for all three and pick them all up when the black one gets here?"
The girl smiled. "Yep, you can pay for all three and pick up at the same time."
"Ok then." Phillip said happily, after getting the sizes he hopes would fit he handed his card over and paid for them, he gave the girl his contact number before walking out the shop while stuffing the receipt into his pocket. He stepped out into the cold, the boy gripped collar of his jacket and closed it more as the wind came blowing by. Phillip decided to start walking down the sidewalk and looked through the windows of the different stores.
He started to make his way to a bench that was away from the last store after he started to feel a bit of pain in his leg. He was almost at the bench when he heard someone running his way and turned around enough to see a fist hit his face. Phillip ended up falling onto his ass while holding his face.
"See nothing without his dogs." Phillip heard followed by laughter. "Should have kept the Husky with you." He looked up and seen Mark's leg was already in motion towards him. Phillip caught Mark's ankle and gave three quick jabs to the jocks thigh. Mark grabbed his leg and hobbled backwards. Phillip was ready to punch the jock till he felt his arms being grabbed. Phillip tossed one of the bullies off of his arm but someone replaced him and restrained him before he could get the other kid off him. Mark came back up to him and punched him in the face once more.
"You little shit." The jock said as he punched Phillip in his side. Phillip winced as pain shot through his body, but started to smile. "What's so funny?"
"Two things." The boy said while having his head down. "One, you hit like a little girl." Mark clenched his fist and punched Phillip in the stomach, Phillip coughed but still had a smile. "Two, you think that you're going to walk away from this?"
Phillip heard more laughter. "Why that dog is busy in the market with that bitch and you're hopeless." One of Marks friends said.
Phillip hung his head and shook it. "No, he knows that I need his help and he's on his way here."
"Bull..." Was all he said before he was kicked in his side with enough force to send him into the parking lot. The others quickly took off into different directions to get away from the pissed anthro, Mark wasn't that lucky when he tried to hop away till Husvor grabbed him by the shoulder and spun the kid around. The Husky didn't care how scared the kid was or that he pissed himself as he brought his fist back and punched the boy's face.
Husvor turned around and whimpered as he walked up to Phillip, he knelt down beside the boy and lifted him up. "Sorry I didn't get here quicker."
Phillip wrapped his arms around the dog's neck. "It's ok, can we just go home?" The dog just nodded while walking to the van where his mom was waiting for them. After calming the worried mother and small trip home, they pulled up into the driveway. Husvor walked over to the passenger side and helped Phillip make his way into the house, the boy plopped down onto the couch and grunted, Blaferis and Scrit were at his side instantly after seeing his face.
"What happened?" The wolf asked calmly but Phillip noticed that he was going to lose it. Husvor told Blaferis what happened. "And you weren't with him?" he growled.
"He wanted to go off by himself and told me to go with his mom, what you want me to do?" The husky growled back.
"Follow him, if you were closer he wouldn't have gotten into this state. You know he's tired from training and still injured."
"I know that." Husvor yelled back. "I got to him as quickly as I could, unlike you have done in the past." The husky flinched a little knowing he just overstepped his limits. The two just glared at each other, the only thing that could be heard was Scrit's whimpering and the clock on the wall.
Blaferis just quickly gave a glance at Phillip before he turned and walked out the back door. Phillip looked up at the Husky who slowly started to follow where the wolf just went. Before Phillip could ask, Scrit quickly ran upstairs. The tension that Phillip felt was enough to make him vomit, he just curled up his legs to himself and rested.
.......................................
Both anthros grabbed their swords and started to walk out into the woods, none of them said a word as they walked. They continued till they both walked into a field, the two anthros made their way to the middle of the field before Blaferis quickly turned and swung his sword to the already prepared Husky. With a loud clash of the two swords the snow cleared around them.
Husvor pushed Blaferis back and quickly swung his sword downwards, the wolf tumbled to the opposite side while the ground behind him blew away. Blaferis growled as he punched his fist into the ground, Ice blew up from under Husvor who did a quick backflip to get out of the way but before he could touch the ground Blaferis was already in front of him and punched the Husky in the face. Husvor landed on his back but quickly got onto his footpaws.
"You think that just because you can beat up some kids that you can save him from Bragins if he gets in over his head?"
"I know I can." The Husky yelled as he charged at the wolf.
.......................................
"Phillip..." A Soft whisper said to the boy as he was shaken awake.
Phillip grumbled as he looked over his shoulder at the Dalmatian. "What is it?"
The Dalmatian whimpered while he looked out the window, snow was now falling heavily and the wind was blowing harsher. "Their fighting but not a sparing type of fight. I want to go and stop them but..."
Before he could finish Phillip was already up and out the door with his cane in hand. The boy didn't need to know where they were, he could feel them both and he set out in the direction.
.......................................
Husvor dodged another swing but barely as he felt a small cut on his cheek. He knew he was no match for the wolf as he was a lower rank then the anthro but he wasn't going to back down now. He held his sword to the side and swung it, Blaferis ducked down as the snow bank behind him blew away. The husky's eyes widened as he readied his blade.
"Wondering how I knew you used element?" The wolf held out his sword as the snow fell around it.
Husvor shook his head in disbelief. "You watched as the snow blew around my attack and dodged."
The wolf just gave a single nod as he charged the anthro.
................................
As Phillip got closer he could feel the pain, anger, and determination from the anthros as he made his way to them as fast as he could. He just hoped that they both don't end up killing each other over him, he knew that he wouldn't know what to do if that happens.
A gust of wind blew past Phillip making him stumble over, breathing heavily and getting more fatigued he got up and not even thinking of his cane he continued to make his way through the now small blizzard to get to his friends and try to stop them.
.................................
More blood flown from cuts as the two continued their attacks on each other. Both their swords clashed as they tried to push one another, the wolf getting the upper hand as the Husky started to slide backwards a bit. Husvor looked up at Blaferis and growled. "You think you're better for him? You think you know him more because you spend so much time with him?"
"No I don't." The wolf said as he moved his sword to the side making the husky loose his balance and enough opening for the wolf to kick him in the stomach. Blaferis took a few steps back and held his sword over his head. "I just want to make sure that who he ends up with can make sure that he will be protected." He swung downwards and a wave of ice crystals erupted from the impact.
Husvor fell off to the side, trying to catch his breath. "Why do you care so much?" He asked.
Blaferis growled and charged the anthro swinging his sword just to make contact with his opponents. "It's because I love him!" The wolf yelled while swinging his sword downwards, the snow around them all swept from behind Blaferis and blew Husvor backwards. When the husky finally got his bearings back he held up his sword quick enough to stop the wolf's attack.
"Don't think you're the only one that loves him." The anthro growled. The husky got up his sword and readied it as the air swirled violently around him, he swung his weapon. Before Blaferis knew he was flying into a snowbank.
The wolf blew the snow away from him as he got onto his feet, 'something's off.' He told himself as he watched as the air started to swirl around the Husky's sword. The wolf's eyes widened. 'element strike?' he didn't need any more convincing as he got up his sword and started to have the snow swirl around his blade.
.................................
Phillip felt his heart thump in his chest enough for him to clench himself, he didn't know what that was about as he continued to make his way, and he could feel the anthros close now. Sensing the power they have and almost hearing their thoughts, he could all of a sudden feel their love for him. Now exhausted, he leaned up against a tree as he tried to push himself to the next. 'How am I this tired?' he asked himself. He slowly got to the edge of the forest and plopped onto his knees and he seen the condition the two anthros where in, he watched as the both charged at each other and attacked.
"Stop!" the boy yelled at the top of his lungs just before the two blades hit and a blast erupted from the two enough to blow Phillip backwards. He didn't know how long he sat in the snow with his arms in front of his face. Till he felt the touch of a paw on his face he slowly looked up at the knelt wolf and watched the Husky move over and cupped his other cheek. Phillip breathing calmed a little as he felt his heart thumped more till he seen them smile at him.
"We're sorry." Blaferis said softly and dropped his broken sword onto the ground and pulled the boy close to him and picked him up. Both anthros got up, "Let's get our human back home and rested."
"Yeah." Husvor said as he gave Phillip's cheek one more touch. Husvor grabbing the wolf's sword, and started to head back to Phillip's house.
Phillip rested his head onto the wolf's chest and closed his eyes, going through what he just heard as he started to drift off Phillip then realized that it wasn't his heart he was feeling.
