CH15. YAY......VACATION ^-^
Months flew by with little fighting in the other world, Phillip spent most of his time watching the others continue their training, even when his cast came off the medical department still didn't want him to do any hard work till his body was back to 100%, Phillip still had to walk around with a cane because of his leg. Today though Phillip was sitting in a room with Blaferis, Husvor, and Scrit, along with a few others to get their brief by the captain on the do and don't while on their small vacation.
He could feel the excitement coming from the others, especially Scrit. "Now while you're all out you won't need to have your weapons on you while out in town or city. The humans aren't like the ones here in Bremerton where they're used to seeing an anthro with a big axe or sword." Frasit finished up. "So any questions?"
No one spoke up so the captain let them go with a warm smile. They all started to pile out of the room with tails wagging and smiles on everyone's faces.
"So is everyone packed and ready?" Blaferis asked.
Everyone nodded. "I'm mainly packed but you think we can stop at a store on the way to the airport?" Phillip asked.
Blaferis tilted his head. "For?"
"Need to get a jacket, the last time I talked to my parents there is about four feet of snow back home."
"I'm sure we can get you something in the village on the way out." Husvor stated.
Since no one else needed anything particular the group went back to the barracks and grabbed their gear and started to load one of the SUVs to start their trip.
..........................................
"How long is the flight going to be?" The Dalmatian asked while looking out the window of the plane.
"Should be about a six hour flight then we will be stuck in the next airport till the first flight in the morning." Phillip said while sitting down beside Blaferis across from the Dalmatian and Husky. "Kind of what we get for getting a red eye flight."
Husvor looked at the boy and smiled as he started to take his seat. "You good?"
Phillip nodded "Yeah, just going to be hard for me to get comfortable." He looked over and seen that the dogs expression started to get worried. "I'm fine." He reassured him with a smile. Phillip leaned back in his seat and looked over at the wolf beside him that was also looking out the window. "You ok?"
Blaferis looked down at Phillip with a smile. "I'm good." He responded with his tail thumping against the seat. "Just can't wait to see what your home is like. You told me a little bit about how your family is and everyone back where you came from but I'm actually interested in seeing what your home is like."
Phillip chuckled. "Well It's nothing special trust me."
"Oh I'm sure it is. You see it doesn't matter how it looks or how fancy a house is, then that's all it would be, a house. A home is somewhere you go and can feel comfort and even love, a place that you can say this is home." The wolf said softly
Phillip smiled and thought about what the wolf just said. "Yeah, I guess you can say that my home is a nice place then."
"Good." The wolf smiled and leaned back while closing his eyes.
............................................
After a bumpy landing early in the morning, the doors to the airplane opened up and a rush of cold air came blowing past. The small group slowly made their way off the plane and located where their luggage was going to be dropped off. Phillip was waiting with the others till he heard his name called, when he turned around he was instantly hugged tightly. Phillip gasped from a small amount of pain but was relieved when Husvor pulled the woman off a little.
"I'm sorry ma'am but his still a little injured so you need to be easy with him." Explained quickly when he seen the lady scowls at him
"You're hurt!" she shouted.
Phillip breathed out roughly. "Yes mom, I was hurt a while ago and still healing." He reassured, his mom gave him another hug but more gently this time.
"Well it looks like the Users has been doing you good anyways kid." Phillip heard his dad complement. "If I'm not mistaking you actually started to gain muscle."
"Yeah, thanks. Where's James?" Phillip asked after looking around.
"He's at school. Told him because you're coming home today doesn't give him an excuse to skip another day." His mother answered.
Phillip chuckled "Well everyone this is my dad, Mike, and my mother, Sarah," Once Phillip introduced his parents to the anthros they all started to chat while the luggage was being unloaded. Phillip couldn't help but grin when he seen the horrid look on his mother's face or the shocked expression on his father's when the anthros untied their weapons from their bags. Blaferis grabbed Phillip's bag and sword and smiled at the family.
"Ready?" Mike asked.
"One sec." The boy said while moving to his bag, he undid it quickly and pulled out his new coat before closing it back up and sliding it on. The all black coat came down to his mid-thigh, the boy left the jacket un-button even though his mom wanted him to button up.
His mom looked at the other three and seen that all they had on was shirts and pants. "Umm, you guys going to be alright?"
They all smiled at her. "Ma'am we have fur, I think we'll be warm." Scrit chuckled.
Mike laughed while he started to lead them all out to the curve just outside the door of the airport, Phillip still looked around and seen they were all having people stare at them while moving through the airport. After a bit of shuffling Scrit's staff into the van followed by everyone's bags, everyone was piled in and the vehicle was on its way.
The trip to the house was shorter then Phillip remembered since his mom kept asking questions and offering donuts or other food she packed. Phillip chuckled when his mom started to chat with his dad, enough time for him to try and get some sleep, the boy leaned over against Husvor and closed his eyes. He started to drift off to sleep but he felt a little bit of tension come from both Husvor and Blaferis.
........................................
Upon arriving at the house Phillip was the first to climb out of the van and made his way to the back while the anthros stepped out and looked around to yard and small two story house. The yard was covered in snow which made Blaferis grin, Husvor shook his head from the freshly falling snow, Scrit after a while followed Phillip and started to unload all of the bags and equipment.
"You guys mind helping?" The Dalmatian said to the other two.
The others looked over and started to lug everything inside the house, Husvor walked in and started to look at all the family pictures on the shelves while Scrit followed Phillip's father up the stairs to the room where they will be staying.
"You sure that you guys don't need a bed or anything?" He asked when he opened the door to the extra bedroom.
Scrit looked in and seen the cleared floor and smiled. "Nope, this will work perfectly."
Mike looked at the dog not convinced. "Alright, well if you guys change your minds just let me know."
"We will thank you." Scrit said while he walked into the room and set his stuff in the corner. Phillip shortly walked into the room and seen that Scrit was already making his bed.
"Getting settled I see." He said.
The dog's tail started to wag. "I don't want to worry about it later, so I can have more time to look around."
"Alright." Phillip smiled. "Well mom should have lunch ready in a little."
"Ok, I'll be down in a bit."
Phillip walked out and started to make his way down the hall but stopped at his old room and seen Blaferis sitting on his bed while looking out the window, his stuff was brought in and his sword was leaning against the bed. The boy slowly walked in and sat beside the wolf. "You ok?"
The wolf looked down at the human with a smile. "Yeah, this is where you always slept?"
Phillip nodded and scooted up so he could lean against the wall. "Yep, not a bad size room but I still had to share the room with my brother." He motioned to the other bed.
Blaferis looked over at the unoccupied bed. "He always gave you trouble?"
Phillip let out a sigh. "Yeah, he always was hard on me. Even dad was, until the day I passed the test everyone here wasn't the friendliest towards me except my mom."
"So after you passed they all had a change of heart?"
Phillip chuckled while he sat up and leaned against the wolf. "Yeah I guess you can say that, almost the whole school seemed to like me but I don't know if it's all show or not."
"I agree, it does seem hard that if people didn't like you that they would change that quickly, family might be different but not sure about your school." Blaferis said while wrapping his arm around the boy and pulled him close.
Phillip gave the wolf a quick hug before standing up. "Well you should get to stuff into the room, mom will have lunch ready in a bit."
"I will." Blaferis said while giving him a smile.
Phillip walked out of the room as the wolf slowly got up, the boy walked down the hall and could already smell lunch being cooked as he started to walk down the stairs. Husvor was walking up at the same time. "Lunch is almost ready." The Husky said while giving the boy a lick on the cheek as he walked by.
"Thanks" Phillip said with a smile as he walked down the rest of the way into the living room. Lunch was full of conversation from everything about what Phillip has done and about his accident. Phillip had a smile on during the whole time, his mom seemed to treat Scrit as her own child and kept asking if he wanted more or if he wanted anything else plus taking his plate away from him. Phillip's dad said it's because Dalmatians is her favorite kind of dog, which made everyone laugh and Scrit blush. After the meal the anthros moved into the living room while Phillip helped as much as he could to put dishes away.
"Well, they seem to be really close to you." Sarah giggled.
"It's because I'm not bonded yet." Phillip simply replied.
Mike slapped his son upside the head gently while walking by. "And why haven't you bonded yet?"
"I don't know." Phillip said sternly. "The situation on why I haven't is actually bothering me."
"Honey don't be in a rush." Sarah said calmly.
"I know." He said while sitting back into his seat. "It's just frustrating to know that others have bonded by now but not me. What makes me different?"
"It might be because you still have some growing up to do." Mike chuckled.
"I don't think that has anything to do with it." Phillip laughed.
"Well I'm sure you'll bond soon honey." His mom came up and kissed him on the forehead. "Now you go and keep your friends company."
Phillip groaned while using his cane as leverage, he pushed himself up out of his seat. "When we going to pick up James?"
"I'll be leaving soon." His dad responded.
"Alright." He turned and started to walk out of the kitchen.
Phillip came into the living room to see everyone relaxing on the couch except Scrit who was on the floor. "This is a nice little town." Husvor stated when the boy sat between the two anthros.
Phillip shrugged. "It's not bad."
"I like it here." Blaferis said his tail wagging. "Can't wait to spar with the snow here."
Phillip could hear the other two groan. "What?" Phillip asked.
Husvor rested his head against the boy. "He's happy because he can use the snow as he pleases, it's technically frozen water so he can control it, means me and Scrit is going to be getting our asses handed to us." Blaferis was staring at the husky but looked away when Phillip went to look up at him.
"Yeah." The wolf agreed in a less happily tune.
Phillip looked over at Blaferis. "You ok." He asked quietly.
"Just tired is all." He said while leaning on the arm rest of the couch.
"Alright." Phillip said. "You want to come with me and dad to pick up my brother?"
Blaferis looked over with a smile. "Sure."
"Scrit?" The boy asked.
"Na, I'm going to rest up a bit."
"Is it alright if I tag along?" Husvor asked.
Phillip shrugged. "I don't see why not, just one thing though. Please leave the weapons at home." The boy chuckled.
"When we going?" the wolf said while standing up and stretching.
"Now." They all heard while Mike walked out the door.
Phillip sat in the back of the van with Blaferis while Husvor sat in front, Phillip looked up at the wolf and could tell he had something on his mind. As they parked in front of the school Phillip opened up the door and motioned for the wolf to follow. Husvor was busy chatting with Mike while the wolf leaned against the car and Phillip stood beside him.
"So tell me, what's on your mind?" The boy asked. "And I don't want to hear nothing or I'm tired, I want to know what's bothering you."
Blaferis's ears flatten against his head and let out a small whimper. "Husvor." Was all he said.
Phillip let out a small sigh. "Is it because of how close he's getting."
The wolf looked down at the ground and nodded. He felt two arms wrap around him and he couldn't help but hug back. "Look I'm sorry. Husvor and I are friends, like me and you."
"I know." The wolf responded in a whisper. "Just..." the wolf's voice trailed off.
"You're afraid he'll bond with me?" Phillip could feel his arms tense a little.
"I know it's nothing you can control if you do bond to someone else." Blaferis said softly. "It will hurt me badly, but I will still be a friend and be happy for you."
Phillip rested his head against the wolf and gave him one last squeeze before letting him go. "I just don't know who I'm going to bond to though."
"I think we all wish we knew." The wolf responded.
Phillip leaned back against the van as the door opened and Husvor climbed out. "Everything alright?"
"Yeah, everything is fine." Blaferis reassured looking down and smiled at Phillip.
Phillip smiled back up at the wolf when the bell rang, moments later the students of the school came rushing out to head home but most came up to them. Questions where being thrown at them non-stop, they couldn't get a word out before someone started to chat at them. Blaferis looked down at Phillip with a confused look.
"They don't see anthros that much." Phillip explained.
"Ah." Blaferis looked over and seen that Husvor liked the attention but the wolf noticed that Phillip looked kind of worried. "You ok?"
"Just want to get going before I meet someone that can be a real ass to me."
"Alright." The wolf said when someone walked up to him and gave him a hug who he assumed was his brother.
"It's good to see your doing alright." James said.
Phillip shrugged. "Besides the accident I'm still healing from I'm doing alright." He lifted up his cane to show he's not fully healed.
"Well at least you get to rest while here." James said while ruffling Phillip's hair, Blaferis let out a small chuckle which caught both boys' attention. "What?"
"He picks up his training tomorrow morning." The wolf said with a smile.
"Come on, he's on vacation." The older brother protested.
"Na," Phillip disagreed with his brother. "I've been out of heavy work for a while and need to get back into things before I get too lazy."
"Wait...you want to work?" James asked unconvinced, "What have they done to you?" He laughed.
Phillip shook his head. "I know, I've changed."
"Well we won't work you to hard." The husky said.
"Done with pleasing the crowd?" The wolf crossed his arms over his chest, the wolf looked around and seen most left to catch the buses so only a few were left behind.
The dog gave Blaferis the finger before looking down at Phillip and smiled. "Sorry, not every day I get to talk to so many humans at once."
"It's ok but should be getting home." Phillip said while turning to open the van.
"Well well, little shit is back already." The boy heard, he sighed and turned around to see Mark made his way in front of them with a few of his friends.
"I'm on vacation." Phillip said sternly.
Blaferis moved closer to Phillip. "Is this the ass you didn't want to see?"
"Yep."
"Aww, little kid has body guards now." The kid joked when Husvor looked at the kid, not pleased. Both anthros could feel what pain that this kid was bringing up in Phillip and both anthros don't like it. "He got chosen to join an army but I bet that he's still the little pansy ass that he was when he left. I would have been a better choice than him." The jock said while having his arms crossed.
Blaferis looked down at Phillip and placed his paw on the boy's shoulder. "You're not the same as you were when you left kid, believe me." The wolf motioned for the boy to get into the back of the van.
"Ha ha, try and come back without your pets and I'll show you that things haven't changed." Mark laughed while James got in the middle seat while Husvor got in front.
Blaferis turned around and smiled at Mark. "I don't condone useless violence from bullies, if you even touch him...I'll rip you in half before he can retaliate." The wolf growled at the end, a quick gust flew from him and all the snow and ice that was on the parking lot flew away. Mark staggered back a little while Blaferis went over and sat in the van while closing the door, leaving the boy scared. The whole way back Husvor and James were laughing at Mark's expression when they left him. Phillip was leaning on Blaferis's shoulder in the back while the wolf had his arm over his shoulder.
"Don't let him get to you." Blaferis said softly.
Phillip moved closer. "I know thanks."
"My pleasure." The wolf said while giving the boy a quick lick across his forehead.
....................................................
"Lazy ass dog." Husvor chuckled when he walked into the house to find Scrit curled up on the couch already asleep.
Blaferis shook his head while walking by. "He's lucky we're on vacation, I'd toss him off the couch to get him up."
Phillip and the rest of his family came in and all headed in their own directions, James heading to his room to finish his homework and his dad headed to the kitchen where Sarah was starting her cooking for dinner.
Phillip followed Blaferis out the back and the two looked out into the field. "Love the view you have here."
Phillip laughed. "Na, like the view of the mountains back in Washington more...we get a lot of snow but too flat here."
"Yeah but you don't get as much rain this time of the year." The wolf said.
"True. What time we staring my training tomorrow?" Phillip asked.
The wolf shrugged. "I was thinking sometime after we get up."
Chuckling Phillip turned to head back into the house. "Well, hopefully not that early in the morning. You still get up just before sunrise."
The wolf stayed outside a little longer, moving the snow around his foot paws in circles to pass the time before Sarah told him dinner was ready. The roast didn't last long with the three anthros, Mike looked over at Phillip and pointed his fork at him.
"So, you go to their world yet?" he asked.
Phillip nodded. "Once, didn't go so well."
James chuckled. "What got your foot caught or something."
All the anthros stopped and stared at the kid for a while before Blaferis spoke up. "We were attacked." He said plainly. "Phillip here was the first to spot them but he froze up in the middle of the fight." The wolf looked at Phillip to see the boy was looking at the floor, he placed his paw on Phillip's shoulder and gave him a firm squeeze before looking back up at James. "It was his first time seeing a Bragin so we don't blame him." James and the parents were staring at Phillip.
"It won't happen again." Phillip said quietly
"I know." The wolf looked back at the boy and smiled. Dinner went on with more talk about Phillip being in the service and all the tales including the race and how he got injured.
.................................................
Phillip plopped onto his bed and let out a deep sigh. He had to admit he did feel weird lying in his own bed and not on the floor surrounded by anthros. The light was turned off before James moved to his own bed and crawled in. Phillip didn't bother getting under his own covers, he just laid there and was letting all that has happened since he left that morning to be a User goes through his head. After a while the boy sat up and looked over to see his brother was facing the wall and could hear him snore softly. He quietly got up out of his bed and snuck out of the room. He moved to the door just down the hall way and quietly opened it up. He poked his head in and seen that it looked like all the anthros were asleep, he walked in and gently closed the door before making his way over and slowly slipped in under one of the blankets between Blaferis and Husvor. It wasn't long that he laid down that the wolf turned over and wrapped his arm around the human.
"Couldn't sleep?" the wolf asked.
The boy moved closer. "Yeah." Phillip could hear the wolf chuckle and felt him nuzzle the top of his head before relaxing and drifting off to sleep. Phillip closed his eyes and felt the warmth of the two anthros surround him, a paw fell on his cheek and he opened his eyes to see the Husky smiled at him. Phillip smiled back and took the anthro's paw in his and slowly drifted off to sleep.
To be continued.....
