Hello again, I don't think I have anything to say, so enjoy :3 -

The two foxes made their way up the stairs with the cleaning equipment bundled in the arms. It was an easy task to complete, or at least it would've been easy had the vixen not decided to have some more of her 'fun'.

They were ten minutes into the job had already done the main room and most of the bathroom, their agility and strength being put to use with cloth and scrubber. The fox was busy cleaning the bath-shower while the vixen was meant to be cleaning the sink, although she had other ideas.

"Do you think the water still works?", the vixen asked.

"It should do, unless they turned it off."

"Let's find out!"

As the vixen said that, she turned on the shower, causing freezing cold water to gush down onto the fox who was cleaning out the bath. The water wasn't bad, the fox's waterproof fur keeping the ice cold water from touching his skin, however it was still annoying, being drenched unexpectedly by a vixen he'd only known for a day.

The fox lifted his head up to complain and was immediately caught in a kiss. He tried to pull away but his head was caught by the vixen's hands, pulling him back towards her. Eventually the vixen released her grip, and the fox remembered something about his dad saying vixens liked to catch their men prone, using surprise and mind games to win them over. This vixen was definitely doing just that.

The fox pulled his head away from hers, but apparently the games weren't over yet for the vixen. She hopped into the bathtub, using a hand to splash water at the fox who had moved out of the torrent of freezing water. The fox started to exit the tub, but the vixen made a move to pull him closer. Unfortunately for both the vixen and the fox, the move didn't go as planned and the vixen lost her footing on the wet plastic tub and slipped over, pulling the fox with her.

A loud crash sounded as the vixen fell backwards into the bath, her face under the torrent of water, as the fox soon followed suit, collapsing on top of the vixen, looking down at her face. The fox was more than a little unhappy now, however the playful smile on the vixen's face soon made the fox smile himself.

They both laid there, the fox soon absorbed in the vixen's face looking up at him. He could feel the water falling on his head, the droplets running down the sides of his face and to the end of his muzzle, where the vixen licked off the drop that was about to fall from his nose. She really was quite beautiful, and she definitely wasn't trying to hide any of her playfulness. The water was still cold, although he didn't really care anymore, as long as they could both stay here like this.

-

Liz was sitting on the sofa beside Dan, thinking about what else they could do for the day once they had bought the bed before a loud 'crash' followed by a muffled 'thud' came from upstairs. She looked towards Dan.

"I wonder what's going on up there?", said Dan.

"I don't know. I'll go check it out, you can stay here."

Liz got up from the sofa and made her way up the stairs. She couldn't hear any other sounds, so that must mean that they're not hurt, although she dreaded to think of what objects they could have broken in there.

As she opened the door to the room, she heard the sound of running water. Why would they have water running, unless they had somehow managed to break a water pipe? As she opened the door, she could see nothing wrong at first, however she also couldn't see the two foxes although as she explored further into the room, she soon saw the two.

Liz stifled a giggle at the sight of the two foxes laying there. The sight reminded her much of how she had experienced young love with Dan. Him and her being so absorbed in one another and everything their partner did, not caring about their surroundings as long as they were together.

However, instead of two humans, this time it was with two Reklan. It touched her to see the two laying there together, showing that despite what they'd been through and experienced with humans, they still had some form of compassion inside of them, even when they were technically slaves.

Liz stood there, watching them for a while before realising that she couldn't just stand there and watch. She moved over to the tub, poked her head over and said 'boo'. Both the foxes jumped out of their skins when they realised they had been caught. Liz just stood there, laughing when she saw their reactions. Both of them were staring at her with a rather comical expression of surprise on their faces.

"And I suppose you two have an explanation for this?"

The two just sat there, the vixen with a face you would expect to see from a child who had just been caught stealing cookies from a jar, on the other hand the fox having an expression of fear on his face. Eventually the fox spoke up, his gaze set on the floor.

"I'm sorry miss, we didn't do as you commanded."

Up until that moment Liz had been alright, but the fox's comment made her angry. Angry at herself. Angry at the person who had taught the fox to act in that way. The poor thing was trembling, as if he expected a whip to strike his back at any moment. In fact, he probably was expecting a whip. Liz cursed the people who would ever think of punishing the fox so harshly for what had just happened, and herself for not making the fox feel safe enough as to not expect to be punished whenever he did the slightest wrong.

The vixen, however, was a different story. She sat there with an innocent expression on her face. Liz was sure that it must have worked on many men before, but she was a woman and definitely didn't get tricked by her playing innocent. Most likely it was the vixen who had started the incident off in the first place.

Liz made a note to punish the vixen more severely later, or maybe give the fox a reward for putting up with all the childish behaviour. She seriously hoped the vixen could learn to control herself before any visitors came, or else there would be quite a bit more trouble than there was currently.

-

The fox stood there, petrified. He had only had a few experiences when he was caught off the job, or when he had damaged or spilt something, but every one of them had involved punishment. When he was younger it had usually resulted in a few harsh words and no food for the next day. However as he grew up the punishments became worse.

One time when he was thirteen he was caught talking to another Reklan when he was supposed to be working. He had apologised swiftly, but not swiftly enough to prevent his punishment. Up until then it had only consisted of a few sharp swipes of a cane, but those were all given before his latest birthday and now that he was a teenager, he was told he should expect a much harsher punishment than before.

Unlike before, when punishment had been a private affair, this time he was taken to the place where all adult Reklan who had disobeyed orders were punished while the rest of the slaves watched. It was an open, grassy area with a cobbled square near the back, in the center of which was a thick wooden pole, mounted upright. The pole had various wooden hooks placed at different heights on it, all facing the grassy area.

The fox was taken by one of the humans and held by the pole while they waited for the rest of the slaves to arrive. Some humans had arrived as well, mostly because they enjoyed watching the Reklan suffer, and some to actually perform the punishment.

His hands were clasped together in metal cuffs and the chain connecting those cuffs was then pulled over one of the hooks, leaving the fox pressed up against the pole on his tiptoes, his back facing the crowd, ready for whatever pain they were going to expose it to.

The fox heard one of the humans read out his 'crime' as if he was in a court of law, but in this case, the jury always skipped straight to 'guilty'. The human then read out the punishment, five lashes of the metal-tipped whip. It wasn't the worst punishment the fox could receive, but it definitely wasn't the best, either.

The human procured a long, slender whip from his coat and handed it to the human who was to deliver the punishment. The whip itself wasn't painful, he'd heard. Instead it was the piece of metal at the end, shaped like a miniature sword blade, capable of doing large amounts of damage when placed in experienced hands. The human who was to deliver his punishment had been doing the job for twenty years, and the fox could only hope that the human was out of practice with it, even though he heavily doubted that was the case.

Once the human had received the whip, he made his way over to the post where the fox was suspended. The human uncoiled the whip and held it ready by his side, waiting for the command 'begin' to be said.

As soon as the fox heard the word, he could instantly hear the crack of the whip and feel the cold, thin blade come into contact with his skin, forming a line where it had struck and pulled back. It stung like hell, and the strikes that followed didn't show any sign of abating. The fourth strike was a not-so-lucky hit for the fox, the whip making perfect contact, optimising the size of the gash left by it's path across the fox's back. By the fifth strike the fox was in agony, the strikes although being thin and contained, were long and deep, drawing trails of blood along the ridges formed through the fox's skin.

The fox didn't give any resistance as he was taken down from the post and uncuffed by the not-so-gentle humans and slowly made his way back to his assigned chores. He had seen much more painful punishments be given, some even killing Reklan who weren't tough enough or didn't get the wounds treated quickly enough to prevent infection. That day the fox learnt to never disobey his masters, and to spend as much effort possible in doing his job well.

The fox was standing there in the bath, expecting the crack of a whip to sound at any second, but instead he heard Liz's voice.

"Well, I'm very tempted to punish you for disobeying me, and also for calling me miss."

The fox inwardly cursed himself for forgetting to call her Liz, not miss or madam, the memories of the whip only getting stronger in his mind, forcing him to relive the pain he had experienced that day. His trembling increased in strength.

"But I'm sure that I can excuse you for just this one time, can't I? You two start cleaning again, it looks like you're mostly finished anyway, and I'll go get you some towels, ok? Although I do think we'll have to have a little talk about this later."

The two foxes nodded in agreement, resuming their work as Liz made her way downstairs. The fox was definitely glad he didn't receive any harsh punishment, and remembered that he wasn't in his old master's place anymore, but he was still feeling numb as he stepped out of the bath to continue with his work.

-

Liz came down the stairs and saw Dan on the sofa, looking at her.

"So?", he asked.

"They're fine. That vixen is only going to cause trouble though, she's the reason that this little 'event' happened. We might even have to send her back of she becomes any more of a pain."

"So what are you doing now, then?"

"I'm getting some towels, the incident involved quite a bit of water."

Liz went over to the cupboard where they stored the spare bedsheets and towels and selected two of the latter, bringing them upstairs to the room where the two foxes were just finishing their job. They quickly finished what they were doing and made their way over to the towels, drying themselves into two puffed out balls of fur, one reddish-brown, the other orange and picked up the cleaning equipment, following Liz down the stairs to put the things away before sitting down on the sofa again.

"Dan and I are going to go out to the shop now, so don't give me any more misbehaviour, ok?"

The two foxes nodded, one sincerely, the other with more than a hint of mischief.

"And I mean that", Liz said while directing a stare at the vixen, "ok? I think you've done enough work for this morning, so you can sit here until we get back and then we can have that talk I mentioned earlier."

The foxes bobbed their heads and sat back against the sofa while the two humans walked out the front door, the foxes hearing the 'click' of them being locked in. The fox was sure he could easily escape through one of the many windows in the house, but why would he? This place was much nicer than anywhere else he had stayed, and the people were nice as well. Trying to escape this place would be like leaving paradise in preference of hell, and the fox was sure which one he would rather stay in.

Author's note: Gah, male and female left alone with each other where nothing could supposedly go wrong. This is probably the perfect opportunity for you-know-what to happen. I am trying to keep this story as yiff-free as I can manage, but it's ever so slowly creeping up on me. Most likely I will release part eight as two different parts, one with sex, one without. So yes, so much for a clean story. Oh well, better luck next time I suppose.
