A Saving Grace Chapter 2: Keep it brief "Wake up sleepyhead!" A certain Nidoqueen yelled into a certain 17 year old's ear "Aaah!" Henry yelled before falling off the dirt bed. As Henry picked himself up, he heard a fit of giggles coming from the pokemon. "Good one." He stated as he stood up. Henry was about a foot and a half taller then her and she was about 50 pounds heavier then him. Henry turned on his 'mock-anger' face and looked away. "Hey, it was just a joke." Grace said as Henry just huffed. Moving into his line of sight, she gave him the puppy eyes. "Can you pleeease forgive me?" Henry looked down at the apologizing Nidoqueen. "Sigh of course i can" he said with a heart warming smile "Good. Now let's go get something to eat." After Henry and Grace raided a few Pecha berry trees, they went for a walk on the beach. "Everyday?" Grace nodded "Everyday. I just find it.. relaxing." "I never got to go for walks, it was always 'if a defendant has a witness, question his motives' or 'practice your signiture'. Never really had time for... me, i guess." "I've had a bit too much time to myself..." "What do you mean?" "Well you're the first person besides my parents i've talked to in about a year" "You were lonely?" "Yes..." she said looking out into the water with a sad face "Well i think... it was meant for our paths to cross. We were both... lonely. It's like an old human expression 'out of disaster comes opportunity'" "What's the opportunity?" "The chance that we become... friends." "Ya, i guess so" "So what do you want to do-" Herny stopped short as he noticed something odd in the water - It was a suitcase! He then just ditched the Nidoqueen and ran into the water, after the rectangular object. After a minute of trudging through the thick water, he grabbed the item right before a Tentacruel (Author's note: Love that name) used one of it's tentacles to grab it. The Pokemon, noticing it was not in it's slimmy grasp, saw the human and started to attack. "AAH!" Henry screamed as he was assulted. Grace giggled as she watched the silly biped flopping around. After a good chuckle, she dove into the water and clawed the Tentacruel (Ha), getting it off Henry's back and dragging the boy back to land. He coughed a little seawater up before getting smacked in the back. Hard. "Hey! What the helk?" "I could be asking you the same question! At first it was funny, really funny, but after a while... it became sad... really sad - Okay, i'll make fun of you more later - but, why'd you dive straight into the water!" "THIS is why!" He said with a smug smile as he held up a black leather briefcase. "What is it? Some sort of shiny rock?" "No No! It's a briefcase.." Henry told her as she just tilted her head a little with a quizical look. Seeing Grace's reaction, he gave a sigh, having to explain yet another thing about human culture. So far, in the day he'd been staying with her, he'd had to explain at least 20 things to her, if not more. "Okay... so humans like to... laze off, you know?" He asked as she nodded "Well, the thing i was on was this was... this giant... uh, 'raft' thingy, and the whole reason i was on it was to laze around." "So you were lazing around, for the day?" "Uh no, for the month." "T-the month!" "Ya?" "You're being completely serious?" "Ya, why?" "The Nidospecies usually lay down in the sunlight for an afternoon, but not a whole month! What do you do all that time?!" Henry gave a soft chuckle at that. "Most people swim or gorge on food, i mainly moped around on the deck. Who knew that would save me..." "Ya that's very interesting all, but i want to hear more about this 'raft' and how you don't die of boredom" "Later, we gotta go back to Fort Grace and Henry Super Awesomeness Place!" Henry ran off to the... that place. "Is that what were calling it now?" Grace yelled to the boy "Yes, now come on!" he yelled back
........ Henry sat hunched over the bed - which he now used as a table - while Grace came in, panting heavily. As Grace came in, she saw him carefully opening the luggage, laughing quite a bit. She went over to him, and quickly smacked him in the back of the head. "HEY! What the heck was that for!" He yelled at her "THAT was for not waiting up for me, and this-" She stopped then smacked him again "Is for not waiting for me to open it up" "Fine, let's open it... again" He said as he shut it, looked at her to which she nodded, then opened it again. And what then he saw it was... his fathers! Nahhh, i'm just kidding. But really, wouldn't that be kind of F@#$ed up? Like the universe just decided that it had to be THAT briefcase. No, let's just say it belongs some random passenger, like... John Brians... So to be clear, it's not his fathers.... The first thing was a few pair of clothes (which seemed like they'd be a bit baggy on him) which was a couple pairs of shorts and a plaid shirt, a tropical shirt and a normal black t-shirt. There was a razor and a can of shaving cream, as well as some cologne (like he'd really need that...). There was a Book of Arceus, and upon closer examination revealed to be hollow, the book holding a flask of what smelled like hard liquor. The final item was a wallet, filled with a couple hundred dollars, Henry laughed at how it was useless to him. "What's this?" Grace asked, picking up the razor. "That's a razor, it's used to shave a man's beard" "What's a bread?" "No, a beard... it's like... fur, that grows on a human's face" "Ah yes, i forgot that you humans a furless creatures..." "And you're any bettter, scaley" Henry said as he grabbed the razor back from her. Henry began to explain every item, Grace thinking the cologne was a liquid and tried to drink it, which Henry explained that she would die if she did so. She knew what the Book of Arceus was, Pokemon instead just recounted the stories to their young instead of writing it down. Grace found the flask and, of course, tried to drink from it to which the action was stopped again by Henry, this time saying he'd let her 'later'. After putting everything back, Henry and Grace went to the lake for a morning drink/wash. The lakeside was fairly empty, a family of Eevees, Vileplume and Aipom were all about, doing their business. Right now, Grace was in the water, swimming about, until she stopped, noticing the human was just standing there, watching her. "...What?" "Uh... it's just... i don't feel right." Henry said, a small blush on his face, "What do you mean?" She asked "Well... to get clean... i have to be... naked." "...I don't see the problem." "I don't like being naked with so many people- er, pokemon - around..." "But i'm naked all the time!" "Ya but you're a pokemon!" "Listen, i'm promise i won't look at anything i'm not supposed to." Grace said as Henry's face quickly went from a subtle rosey color to an obvious beet red. "What?" "I-i wasn't thinking about t-that!" "Just take off that weird fur stuff you have on and hop in!" Henry slowly and nervously discarded his clothes and hopped in the lake. As soon as he was in, Grace spit water at him, to which Henry dove after him. He pinned her under the water, sending the Nidoqueen into a giggle fit. She started to try to get him off, but he stood his ground, keeping Grace pinned under him. He then found Grace looking downwards. Wanting, to know why she was looking, he followed as well and found the 'thing' she was staring at. Henry quickly leapt off her, leaving the pokemon confused. "What?" She asked the boy who was blushing a beet red. "You said you wouldn't look... 'down there'!" "I was just having a peek!" Henry's expression quickly went from an embarrassed kind to an angered. "i'm going to go wash over there!" He said as he ran over to an uninhabited part of the lake. Grace gave a sigh, a little angered by the fact she didn't get a closer look. It wasn't like she didn't know what 'it' looked like, it's just she didn't really see many. Still, she didn't really want to lose Henry, he was the only friend she had.
.......... "Still mad?" "Humph." Right now, Henry and Grace were back at the FGHSAP. Henry sat in the corner, his back to Grace. "I said i was sorry!" Grace said to which he 'Humph'd' again. "What can i do to make you feel better?" He stopped his silent anger and turned around "Well... you could...I don't know..." "Just think about it, i'm gunna go get dinner" Grace said, going to get some Oran berries. Once he was sure she was gone, he started of think of something he could get from her. Maybe... a bike? No, a television in his room- Wait... he wasn't with his family anymore.... He kept trying to think of something, but found himself distracted by the previous events... when she stared at his... It was strange, embarrasing, stupid, and everyother thing out there... but he found himself... aroused by it. What the hell was he talking about? She was a pokemon! He honesly hadn't dated before, his parents never let him, saying women weren't as important as important cases. Okay, let's say he he did find her attractive - he didn't, he knew he didn't!, okay, so shut up! - but if he did, what would that mean for their relationship? What if she didn't return the feelings? What if she ate him? What if she got tired of him after a while... and then ate him! Let's say their relationship did surivive, what about their lives? Would they be able to have children? What would their children- "I'm back!" Henry, of course, hadn't moved an inch, still deep in thought, not noticing Grace's entrance. "Uh, hello?" She yelled as Henry snapped back to life, looking around. "You okay?" "Uh... ya, ya i'm... fine." "Great" She said as she dropped the Oran berries on the bed/table and began to chow down. After a few minutes, the two found themselves with bellies full of berry and mouth's dripping blue. "So, what do you want?" "Don't worry, i'll think of something." He said with a laugh "Belch" Said- Er, burped, Grace. The two just stared eye to eye at each other before errupting into a fit of laughter. Grace and Henry, Man and Pokemon, laughed long into the night, their silliness could be heard all around the island. End of Chapter 2
