Ignition
Ignition "Fire Fang!" A small, red blurr was sent flying towards it's opponent, smashing into it hard. The red blur stopped for a second and gave a pose, taunting it's opponent. The opponent gave a growl before launching itself towards the red blurr as it gave a smug, toothy smile before speeding off again. The opponent soon got a face full of dirt as the red fighter waited for instructions. "Finish this off with... Lava Plume!" Red blur flashed another toothy grin before charging up it's attack. He heard another voice yelling what attack his opponent was going to stop him with, but it was pointless now. Soon, chunks of lava were sent straight towards the best. After the flames dissipated, the fighter was left singed and it's fur full of ash, his eyes as wide as saucers, but the look soon was gone as he fell over. Fyre look up to his trainer in expectancy, wondering if he would be rewarded for his latest victory - i mean, he deserved it, it WAS his fourth that day. He'd foughten against enemies with type advantages over him, and come out victorious! Of course, that last battle was a little too easy and he could've defeated that pokemon in one hit, but he showed restraint, mostly to make the other pokemon feel good about itself (and more so the trainer, they were more... sensitive then pokemon when it came to battles), but Fyre still wanted to have some fun with it, it was just his nature Ember looked down at him with eyes filled with pride. She loved her fluffy furball (she loved that petname, he hated it), and, like the four previous times, was very proud of him. The life a trainer was usually hard - most having barely enough money to support themselves - but not for Ember and Fyre, they always won battles, barely low on cash. Ember loved being a trainer, loving it more that she could be one with her best friend. She'd seen other trainer's relationship with pokemon and some just treated them like tools, not friends. Even her friend (or as he called her, 'rival') Martin, treated his Pikachu like a tool. It was rather sad too, she'd met the affectionate pokemon before, but Martin mostly kept her in her ball, the only time really let it out was the first week he'd gotten her from professor, mainly to brag. Ember had long, auburn colored hair that reached the middle of her back and matched her fire-red eyes. She had a freckle covered face and cute little dimples. She had a petite figure and had an overall small look, only weighing 100 pounds and reaching 5''3. But not Fyre. She'd only put him in him in his ball a handful of times, he giving barks and yips obvious annoyed by the trinket. Ember had been on the training road for about 3 months, the 18-year-old wanting to go when she was 10, like all the other kids, but because of a certain 'problem', she couldn't This certain problem was an... illness. Ember was born with a birth defect, she being to normal water, having to drink a special kind, mixed in with needed chemicals. She lived a normal life at least... for the most part. At least, that was how it went until she was 7. Her house one caught on fire from a loose ember off of a battle. In the accident, her mother was crushed by a fallen cabinet, and she was left in the flames, alone. Of course, the Saffron City Firefightin' SquadTM had fought the flames with their 'rightous flame fighting powers' (their words not mine) and found her and her mother's bodies. But the strange thing... Ember was still alive! she was covered with burns - third degree to the max - burns that would kill a normal person ten times over. Not Ember. When she had woken up - about three days later - she found herself without a scar! Even if a someone one COULD survive a trial like that, it would take weeks - months, to recover! But Ember was up within a few days! It wasn't without its losses though. Ember's mother was still dead and Ember had slight amnesia, she couldn't really remember her house or her mother that much, only remembering her white-blond hair. They began testing on her, doing various experiments. Then they discovered something; her blood was the exact same as that found in a firetype pokemon! Her blood most related to that of a Blaziken. Scientists and Doctors from all over the regions came to see her and test her. They discovered she had the abilities of a pokemon, although dulled a little. It explained why she had to drink the chemical water (Although normal fire types COULD drink water, her mix of fire-type DNA and human DNA acted a little violently to each other), but no one could explain why she was the way she was. So over the next 11 years, she never left the lab, not even once. Though it wasn't all bad, after the knew she was healthy, they wanted to see how she would react to other pokemon. Most had a reaction as they would to a normal pokemon, except for Ice and Water pokemon, She wanted to make friends and they wanted to claw her eyes out. But one day, she said she was going to meet someone who would be different from the rest. That day, she met Fyre. At the time, she was 10, and had recently been told she couldn't go on her journey because it was dangerous (it WASN'T - all pokemon journey's were dangerous, but they kept her because they wanted to study her), and she was feeling rather down. But they lead her to another meetings with the pokemon - she hoped it wasn't one of those nasty water types, jerkwads. She was put in the normal play room and waited patiently for her meeting. After five minutes, her normal scientist, Dr Gray, came in with a shuddering mass. Ember wondered what it was, but she seemed to feel a strange compulsion to go and say hi. The scientist put it down and it quickly... ran to the corner of the room. She then got a closer look at him. He had a nice sleek, coat colored reddish-orange. and tan bushy tail with a matching fluffy ring around it's neck and tuft of fur on his head. He had black, animalistic eyes that were on either side of a very short muzzel with a small black nose, he was obviosuly a Flareon. On his head sad large, fox-like ears with black and blue insides. The bipedal animal was shuddering visibly, obviously scared of her. She looked back at the scientist to find him gone, and looked to the door right at the time to see it shut. She gave a sigh and walked over to the little beast and picked it up. It began shaking even more, it's eyes closed. After a few moments, he opened his eyes again and she looked into his blue-black eyes. At that exact moment, he just froze. They booth just stopped, neither doing anything until Ember sneezed cutely, which caused her to drop him. "Ouch!" He yelled "Sorry- Waitttttt.... what'd you just say?" "I said 'Ouch!'" "You can talk?" "Of course i can talk! Why wouldn't i be able to talk!" "Well- No reason" "Why do you smell like a pokemon?" "I smell like a pokemon?" "Ya, you smell like..." He stopped to sniff around "A Blaziken!" "Really?" "Uh-huh, but you also smell kinda like a human..." "Well i am a human..." "Well, duh! But... you smell like both" "Okay..." "So, Blaziken-Girl, can you use special moves?" "Special... moves?" "You know, like this!" The Flareon then stepped back and put his paw up. Ember tilted her head quizically before a small flame errupted from it, to which Ember did an 'Eeep!' and ran behind the bed, afraid of him. Now the tables were turned. The Flareon slowly went over to the shaking girl and touched her chest with his nose. "Hey, are you okay?" He asked as she looked up, did another 'Eep' and looked down again. "I'm... sorry for scaring you..." She took a few moments before responding. "Uh, i-it's okay-y..." There was a few moments of awkward silence before Ember spoke up. "So... what was that thing you did?" "Huh? Oh that was an Ember!" "A what?" "An Ember!" "That's me!" "You're not an Ember, or you'd be on fire!" "No, i AM Ember, that's my name, silly!" "Nayam?" "You know, a name?" "...Still blanking." "What do people call you?" "I heard 'Test Subject 8' once..." "That's not a real name!" "Then... give me a real one!" "Fine, just let me think..." They stayed there for a few minutes, Ember staring off into space, her brow furrowed and the tiny Flareon not taking his eyes off her. "I got it!" "What, What is it! Tell me!" He was incredibly impatient at the moment, he never liked waiting. "Okay, so - i'm just spitballin' here - but what do you think of 'Fyre'?" "Fire?" "Ya! But like... with a Y!" "Oh... Sounds a little... lame, but okay." "Lame? I think it's cool..." They talked for the next hour about their hopes, dreams, ambitions, lives. etcetera. Ember told him of her life in the lab, how they did experiments on her, how they kept asking her questions. While Fyre told him of his life. Appearantly he used to live with his mother in Route 6, along with his 5 Eevee brothers and sisters. He was the runt of the liter and was often shunned by most of his siblings, except two of his sisters, the other sister and brothers picked on and beat him. One day, there were these guys with white labcoats in the forest, and the word got around. There was a known protocal around the forest, when a furless, skinny thing on two legs was seen, you were to hide. His sisters thought he already knew, his brothers didn't care and his mother was too busy looking after the rest of the children to notice he wasn't there. But when they found him, he didn't even care, just accepted what was going to come to him. So, when they brought him to a white room before bringing out a Fire Stone and forcing him to evolve (it wasn't like they were aggressive, but they still forced him) and now he was here. The scientists came in and seperated them, but promised that she'd see him again. And so began the start of a beautiful friendship... They saw each other usually every other day, and they always had something to talk about. Soon after, Ember learned she had the powers and Fyre began training with her. They ended up rather strong, especially Fyre. Once Ember was 18, she was legally a person and could do what she wanted. And she wanted one thing; to become a pokemon trainer. As a gift for her years in the lab and her contribuation to pokemon and human relations, they gave her some money and a plane ticket to Pallet Town. Now that she was going, that left a certain problem of what to do with Fyre. He was mainly there because he was to help Ember hone her skills, and the fact Ember threatened to burn the place down if they put him down. So now that she was gone, they had no use for him and were most likely going to put him down. So, they decided to give him to her. And that began their adventure. They had a nice stay outside of the lab, enjoying all Kanto had to offer. Soon they made their way to Pewter and easily defeated Brock. They continued their way through the region, having various adventures along the way. They had specifically encountered Team Galactic, all the way from Sinnoh, the (slightly evil) group having set up a base of operations in Kanto for finding (stealing) interesting pokemon. Their sources finding out about Ember and wanted to capture her, not her pokemon, and she stopped them. And of course they had other silly, hairbrained schemes and Ember foiled those too. By the time they had reached Celadon, they were getting some recognition, getting stopped a few times by passing trainers, and even Erika, the gym leader, knew them. At the moment they were very well known, even having a couple fan-clubs (one which was a good 70 strong) and were stopped occasionally on the street. Right now they were in Ember's hometown: Saffron City! Ember was really happy, she was going to see all her old friends and neighbors, and, most importantly, get the Marsh Badge. Of course, she had done that already, the last four battles were mainly to get Fyre stronger and just for some fun. But now, they were pretty much out of things to do, so they decided to just go get some rest. "Good job Fyre, That last battle was totally awesome!" "Ya, I was like Pow Pow Pow!" Over the years, Fyre had matured... for the most part. When he talked about battling, he became like a week old Eevee pup, running around and making strange sound effects. They talked about the amazing battle against Sabrina once more, probably the third time that day. "Ring Ring" Ember stopped her talking about the Fire Fang he used on the gym leader's Venomoth and went over to her cellphone, ringing the default ringtone. "Hello?" "Ember?" Ember's father, Arny, answered. He had lost his wife in the troubling accident, but he never stopped smiling. He was now living in Rustboro, Hoenn, leaving Saffron because of the painful memories. When the United Region's decided to 'study' her, he fought to get her back, but unfortunantly lost. He still got to visit her - every weekend. When Ember became of age, he offered to take her in until she got a job or went to college. She declined, saying she wanted to 'see the world' and 'be somebody'. Before having Ember, he used to be a pokemon trainer, reaching Fuchsia and leaving the life behind, stopping because his wife was going into labor. Arny had told Ember that he met his late-wife when he was just begining the journey, he met her and they quickly fell in love. Of course, the love was short lived and 8 years later, she tragically died. "Daddy?" "Hello Ember!" "Hiya Daddy" "So, how have you been?" "I've been great so far, me and Fyre just fought Sabrina, so nothing big..." Ember teased "That's my girl! Wait... are you in Saffron?" "Ya! i'm in our old hometown!" "Seeing the old sights?" "Ya, i'm going to - guess where - our old house!" "W-what?" "I got the address from old Mrs. Clemen, and i was just about to head there before you called!" "O-oh honey... i uh... Gottago!" Then the phone call abruptly ended, leaving Ember on the bed, confused. Why had he just hung up on her? Her best guess was that the city made him remember the past, and he didn't want to cry infront of her. But then again, he seemed fine until she mentioned their home, so it might've just been that. "You okay?" "Huh?" She looked to the side of the bed to see a Flareon with a questioning look. "Huh? Oh, uh, ya. Ya, i'm just a bit...dazed" "By what?" "Nothing..." "Well come'on then! You said we're going to see your old house, and i want to see it!" "Ya, sure, let's get going." She said as she got up and put her shoes back on. Right now she was wearing a red and white striped sweater and a pair of jeans. She grabbed Fyre's ball, mainly for protection reasons and grabbed her bookbag (preferring it over a purse) and phone and headed out the door. After twenty minutes of asking directions several more times, knocking on wrong houses and getting yelled at by the elderly, she finally found her house - 41 Cherrywood Lane. She now stood in front of the walkway, just... looking at it. Next to her was the rusty mailbox, it's wooden pole was starting to rot and the whole thing went well with the overgrown grass, it's tall bushes crawling with life, obviously filled with Rattatas and Weedles. The house - strange as it may be - seemed... fine. It wasn't exaclty 'fine', but it was better than she thought it was going to be. The house was a two story, painted green, the paint peeling. It had four windows, two of them with broken glass, obviously broken by some neighborhood kids looking for thrill. The roof was looking pretty good, except for some noticable cave-in's. "Ready to go in?" Fyre asked as she just nodded. She hadn't seen this place in so long and she barely remembered it. She had forgotten most of her times in Saffron, except for a few times when she got picked on and her mother soothed her by running her fingers through her hair. She walked slowly, and so did Fyre. Usually, when she didn't walk fast enough, he ran ahead and yelled at her to catch up, but now, she was obviously going through an emotional time and he decided to be right by her side Creeeeak! The sound echoed through the household as a certain female trainer and eeveelution entered the building. As she looked around, the memories came flooding back. She remembered when she was 6 and got her first A+ on a test. Her mother was so happy, she was chirping gleefully and everything- Chirping? Mother's don't chirp. Ember just guessed the memories got mixed or something. "This pla-" Fyre said but Ember wasn't listening, she was too busy dealing with the emotions. She kept walking as more and more memories came back. That time she and her mother were making brownies and Ember got to lick the bowl, when she made all that macaroni art and her dad complemented her on it, and when she and her mother were playing and Ember's hands started glowing and... No, she couldn't think of that... Ember made her way to the living room, the television stolen and a support beam leaning towards the center, just a few hard kicks and it was going to be down. She then noticed the walls had one item that hadn't been stolen: Photos. The wall's were covered with framed pictures. She quickly ran over to them, eager to see the moments the pictures held. Fyre just hopped on the couch, not wanting to disturb her moment. She looked through the photo's, trying in vain to see something she wanted ever since the accident: her mother. The first was of her and her father, out in the local Saffron park, she on his shoulders. The next few were of her mother: Them making cookies together, when her mother was holding her as a - what she would guess - 6 month old, nuzzling her, and the most important one, the one that showed the day she was born. Her tears fell to the photo. It was her mother, she finally saw her mother. But... it was... odd. Her mother was a... Blaziken Her mother was a Blaziken. A Blaziken. Her mother - the one who brought her into the world, was... a Blaziken. A Pokemon. A beast. Her mother... she looked like a normal Blaziken: Red fur around her arms and torso and a lighter, orange color on her feet up to her shins. She had chicken like talons and arms and a pointy tail. Finally, she has a thick, blond white mane (made of fathers) In the pictures, It showed a little Ember and her.... mother... putting the cookies in oven, a little human baby in the Blaziken's talon, but she wasn't crushing the baby, just holding it softly. Finally, there was a picture of her mother on the couch Fyre was on, her father was sitting next to an exhausted Blaziken, her mane tangled, and the man holding her with one arm and holding the camera with the other. Tears began flowing down her eyes as she fell to the floor, onto her knees as she began to put her hands to her face. Her mother was a Blaziken. She couldn't get the idea out of her mind - her father had had sex with a pokemon. An animal. A beast. And he'd never told her since she lost her memory. He hadn't told her that her mother... was a Blaziken. She was a monster. A freak. Nothing but a half-ling. She began to hear Fyre coming over and trying to comfort her, but she didn't care. She felt her sorrrow turn into... hate. How DARE they do this do her - not thinking about how this could effect her. And worse, her father lied to her for years. Why, why would he do that. She felt herself boiling with a white hot rage. She stood up and started to yell, her voice sounding not her own. But she didn't care, she just needed to vent her anger. She felt something strange in her throat, but she opened her tear-filled eyes and looked around - the house way on FIRE! She saw the wood burning and smelled the flame's smoke... it somehow felt... calming. She looked down to see Fyre staring up at her, his eyes filled with one thing: Fear. She looked to her left and saw a hanging mirror, most likely from upstairs. In it was... a Blaziken! Her reflection was a Blaziken! She had turned into a Blaziken and set the house on fire! She looked so similiar to her mother, but was more... human. Her whole body was covered with luxurious red coat, of course except for her legs which were a firey orange. Her torso had a nice orange diamond partially covered by her mane. She had a short beak which had two slit nostrils, either side having two round eyes, still retaining her fire-red eyes. Her feathers formed a hair-like man, it being blond-white had a silky soft look. She stopped her rage and contiued to stare at her appearance before hearing a cry of pain behind her. Turning, she saw the previously mentioned support beam turned on the ground and under it, was Fyre. He let out a groan and she ran over to him. "FYRE!" She yelled as she tried to pull him from it and had no luck. She began crying again. First her mother was crushed - by her doing, by the way - and now her best friend was going to die too - ALSO by her doing. She needed to vent again, this time punching the beam with her new, poweful talons. After a few minutes, she noticed something - the beam was at the other side of the room! "Fyre, wake up!" She yelled as the Flareon opened his eyes. "Ember.... Ember... what happened... I remember seeing you.. Blaziken.." Fyre coughed as he got up and looked around, before noticing the place was burning. "Oh Arceus, we gotta get out of here!" "Ya, come'on, i see an opening!" "Get out, i gotta get something!" "Forget it, it's not important enough to risk your life for it!" "It... Yes it is! Just go!" She looked at him with a tear in her eye before running off.
Come on... Come on... Where was he? He said he'd be out by now! ...Well, he didn't exactly say it, but she could tell he wanted to say it. She saw the house coming down, the roof caving in. Soon enough, the house... was just a pile of rubble. She cryed profusely. Her best friend was dead! He was just a bruised, cut-filled corpse- "Why're you crying?" She looked up and saw an oh-so familiar Flareon: It was Fyre! He was, as expected, ripe with buises and cuts, his fur covered with soot. "You're... You're... Alive!" "Of course i am why wouldn't i-" He was stopped short as Ember clawed him, obviously made "What was that for!" "That's for making me worry! What the hell did you get that was so important!" "Uh... this." She noticed he had something strapped to his back. He quickly clawed at it and presented it to her. It was... the picture of her mother, her father and her as a baby. She began crying, tears of happiness this time. She had realized.... she wasn't a monster. Her parents weren't monsters for... just being in love. But that didn't mean they weren't off the hook. She quickly put down the pictures and hugged Fyre tightly, whispering 'thank you so much...' and then, almost on autopilot, said.. 'i love you' "WHAT?" Fyre yelled back. Ember then realized what she said and stopped her hug, scooting away on her rear and and blushing, looking away. Ooooh, why had she said that! Truth was... she'd loved him for quite a while, probably for years, she didn't remember the day or moment she knew, just knew that she... knew. She felt so embarrassed! She had just said that she loved him while her old home still burned 50 feet away! Her thoughts were soon interrupted by something warm... and wet, kinda. She then noticed - Fyre was kissing her! She tensed up at first before simply easing into it. She didn't care she was kissing a pokemon - one of the most taboo topics out there - she just cared he was male and she was female. Plus, didn't it help that she was half pokemon herself? Soon they had to break apart and were left panting. "So, uh, ya..." "That just happened..." "Fyre, i don't care that you're a... pokemon and i'm human... well half-human, but what i mean to say is.. iloveyou..." Ember had a visible blush on her face and was looking away "I've been thinking about it too and... i love you... too!" He said as she hugged him again "Uh, Ember?" "Yes, Dear?" "You're.... Naked..." "But i'm still covered by feathers!" "Uh... You changed back." Fyre said as she looked down and saw her fleshy skin. as she gave an "Eeep!" "We better get some clothes before we head back..." Fyre said, looking away from her naked form "Or i could just go into Blaziken form and try to make people think i'll look like a normal one" "Sure, let's try that." Fyre said as Ember changed into her other persona and stood up, her feathers were tangled much like her mother in the picture. "Care to go?" She said, looking at him with a warm smile "Let's." They headed back, the burning house behind them was a reminder that Ember's old life was gone, the newfound knowledge and wisdom that came with the new body. THE END
