#6 of A City Boy and A Country Girl

Only one more chapter left after this! The suspension is getting high! I hope you all enjoy. Feedback is ALWAYS welcome, and if you like it, let me know!

In the last few weeks of school, the police had placed curfews for young adults to be home and indoors by 10 p.m. If a person was camping, they had to call the police and let them know what campground they were using, how long they were going to be there, and a patrol car sat right outside the gates of the campsite. The police were putting a lot of precautions down to make sure that no one got kidnapped again, but what were they doing to actually find the three missing girls? Yes, three! On prom night, a mare named Piper was taken right outside the gym. She had gone outside for a smoke and never came back inside. Her friends assumed she went home, but after the prom was over, a science teacher found one of her heels outside the door. The teacher also reported that Piper had gone out the wrong door. The door she used automatically locked from the inside, and as soon as she let it shut, her hopes of escaping dropped. It was like an alley back there; there was only one way in and one way out.

"You want us to do what?!" Trixie squealed in a high pitched voice.

Sarah held a finger up to her mouth to tell Trixie to be quiet, and she looked around the room. There was really no need to look. She was in her bedroom, but she felt like she was being watched.

"We need to find this guy. More girls are going to die if we don't, and the police aren't doing shit!"

Adam shook his head slowly. "You can't put yourself in danger like that. I won't let you."

Sarah sighed and looked at both of them.

"Ok, here's the deal. My father got put as the head of the case. The chief is obviously an idiot. My dad won't do anything to save these girls. He's too preoccupied with Natasha. He hasn't sent out any search parties. He hasn't gotten any suspects. He doesn't have anything! I want to find this guy before he hurts someone else."

"You watch too many scary movies. This is never going to work. What if he does capture you? Are you going to escape? I don't think so! He'll kill you!" Trixie was in hysterics, but she knew Sarah was right.

"If we work together we can do it. He's here somewhere. He lives here somewhere, and we need to stop him!"

"Sarah, I love you. I don't want to see you get hurt. This is serious stuff. We can't take on someone who murders girls for a hobby." Adam said softly.

"Won't you guys at least try to help me? Please?"

Trixie crossed her arms over her chest. She looked pissed off, but Sarah knew she was giving in to her request. How hard would it be to capture this guy? He was obviously dumb. You don't leave tiny pieces of evidence behind and expect not to get caught. Trixie nodded and smiled.

"All right fine! I'll help you, but if I get hurt, you're paying for my hospital bills. You got that?"

Sarah nodded. "Sounds fair to me!"

Adam was still sitting in silence. His face was serious, and he let out a long sigh.

"Fine. I'll help you, but the only reason I'm helping is because I know you'll do it with my help or not. I'd rather be there in case something happens."

Sarah picked up a folder off of her bedside table and opened it in front of them. There were school pictures of all three of the girls: Lacy Whitmore, Elizabeth Harper, and Piper Sawyer. Each girl looked up from her photo with a smile, and Sarah said a silent prayer for them. Two of them were dead for sure. Lacy's body had been found in the park, and Elizabeth's body was found half buried on the edge of a cemetery. This guy was obviously an amateur. There were police photos of their bodies. They had been cut in several places. Elizabeth looked the worst, because some of her fur was hanging off in large chunks where the murderer had sliced her up. Both girls had their eyes opened in the photos, but this time there were no smiles on their faces--only horror in their eyes and blood caked into their fur. Trixie gasped.

"Where did you get these photos?! They're horrible."

Sarah nodded. "Yeah, they're really bad. I snuck into the police station and made copies. I told you they're not doing anything. They can't even spot a teenager stealing information."

Adam snickered, but didn't say a word in response.

"Ok, we know two of them are dead, but Piper could still be alive. I was looking through the files, and I noticed that each girl was taken about a month apart. When he takes one, he dumps the body of the last one somewhere. He took Lacy first, but after he was done with her, he threw her body in the park and kidnapped Elizabeth. He dumped Elizabeth's body in a hole, and on that same night, he kidnapped Piper. I just don't get it. Usually, there is a pattern to any killer. It could be what the girl looks like or they're profession--something! But these girls have nothing in common! It makes no sense!"

Trixie examined the photos carefully. "You're right. It's not how they look for sure. I mean a Cat, a Collie, and a mare look nothing alike."

Adam moved the photos over in his direction so that he could read some of the background information on the girls. He then looked up. "They were nothing alike either. Lacy was a cheerleader--a very popular one at that. Elizabeth was just a sweet straight A student who was involved in a lot of clubs and charities, and Piper was a long time band member."

Sarah nodded. "They do have two things in common. They all lived in this town, and they all went to the same school. It has to be someone in the school system."

"What makes you so sure it's not just a random guy who drove into town?"

"That's a good question Trixie, but I'm sure it's not. This guy knew where these girls were going to be. He knew it! He got Lacy while she was walking to a party, but she was only walking about two blocks down her street. This guy would have had to be outside her house and watching to see when she left. Then, he would have had to move fast, I mean really fast, to get her before she ran to another house. She knew this guy! That's why no one heard her scream! Think about it. She lived on Swan Road. That place has houses lined up on every side of the street. She could have easily screamed and ran for help, but she didn't. Why?"

Adam sat back into his chair, making it creek loudly. "You're right. She knew him. He walked up to her and pretended to talk. He could have knocked her out right there and took her back to his car."

Trixie shook her head no. "That doesn't work for Elizabeth though."

Sarah put her finger on the picture of Elizabeth. Part of her body was hanging out of the hole. He had left her there to rot. Maybe he wanted her to be found. Either way, he didn't really intend to bury her.

"Yes, it does. Elizabeth was the one who found Lacy's body. The guy didn't try to hide Lacy at all. He wanted her to be found. He kidnapped Elizabeth, and her friend April ran for help, but by the time someone got there, Elizabeth was gone. I talked to April, and she said that Elizabeth wanted to go to the park because of a love letter she had gotten at school."

"Why haven't the police figured this out?" Adam asked in a deep tone.

"I don't know. It's so obvious, but the police here are not exactly the brightest." Sarah responded.

Trixie crossed her arms over her chest. "Piper was taken at prom, and only member from the school were even allowed on the property. They were checking IDs as we all drove in. There is nothing but marsh behind the school. So, he couldn't have come that way. He got in with an ID."

Sarah hadn't thought of that before, but it was true. The police had cars at the only entrance to the school, and they were checking IDs to make sure that the people coming in were students and teachers. The murderer had gotten into the party, and he hadn't left the prom until after he kidnapped Piper.

Sarah pushed all the photos back into the folder.

"This is all pointless now though. School just got out. How are we going to find the guy?"

Adam smirked. "We'll just keep our eyes and ears open."

The summer went by too fast, and they had no results. Most of the people in the town left for the summer to go on extravagant vacations, and there were no more kidnappings. Piper's body never turned up either, and Sarah wondered if she was even still alive.

School was back again, and Sarah knew this was her chance to actually get a better lead on the murderer. It was only a matter of time before she figured it out. She walked into school with her schedule in hand, and she could see the gym was still first. She felt different somehow. Her it was fifty degrees outside, but she felt like it was a hundred and three. Maybe she had a fever. She walked to gym class and quickly changed into her shorts and tank top. Since it was the first day of school, the teacher would just make them stretch. That's usually what happened, but her body continued to get hot. She didn't feel sick. There were no signs of a headache or a stuffy nose, but she could feel her lower lips getting wet. Her cheeks were flushed and her body was aching for attention--a male's attention.

The teacher walked into class, and he began to tell them to stretch. Adam was in line behind Sarah, and when she bent down to touch her toes, she instinctively rubbed her paw over her thighs, and rubbed her paw against her lower lips through her shorts. She heard a soft growl from Adam, and when she looked around, she could see other males staring at her as well. The females didn't seem to notice, and she realized that she was in heat. When a female went into heat, her scent got stronger, her body became hot, males, not females, could pick up on the special scent. When she rubbed her fingers over her lower lips, it made her shiver. They seemed so much more sensitive than before. The teacher looked over at her as he picked up on her scent and began to get aroused himself. He walked to her quickly and pulled her aside as the others began to stretch.

"I think you need to head home. I'll call the office and get you excused, okay?"

Sarah nodded and blushed. Adam had driven her to school, but he had a test the next period, and she knew that his teacher would not let him make it up if he took her home so, she insisted on walking home herself.

"I could really use the fresh air. I'm too hot, and I think I'm going to go home and take an ice bath."

Adam wrapped his arms around her and nuzzled into her neck. She knew he was sniffing her to remember her spiced scent, and she slowly pulled away. He gave her a charming smile and nodded.

"Okay, but please be careful. I will be home after school to take good care of you."

On the last line, he winked, and it sent a wave of heat through her body and a shiver up her spine.

"o-okay." It was all she could manage to say before she left.

It was actually a beautiful day to walk in the woods. The bright green leaves made rustling noises as the wind passed over every branch, and squirrels would frolic along the path she was walking on. The flowers had bloomed beside the path as well, and occasionally, she would see a beautiful purple or red lily. As she was walking, she heard a twig snap behind her. Slowly, she turned around to see someone standing in the path behind her. IT was obviously a male. No woman could ever be that tall or have shoulders that wide. His paws were large--clawed. She slowly took a step backwards as fear rose up inside of her instead of heat. She was no longer hot anymore; she was ice cold with fear. It wasn't Adam. It was a different species. The tail behind him let her know that it was a wolf, and she darted in the direction of her house. She put all the strength she had into her legs and tried to run as fast as she could. Her breathing came out fast, but she could still hear his loud footsteps over the sound of her rapid breath. He was chasing her, and from the sound of his steps, he was getting closer. As she ran, she caught a branch with her hand and let it snap back.

"Ow! Dammit! Come here bitch!"

That voice...She knew that voice, but from where? She kept running, but she made the mistake of looking back behind her shoulder. He had pounced at her, and he managed to grab onto her legs. Her body flew forward, and she landed on the ground with a hard thud. His paw gripped her hip and pulled her onto her back as he crawled on top of her.

"Bret..." She whispered, but it was too late. The last things she saw were the sun reflecting off of a long needle before it connected with her neck and the long snout of a wolf she had seen so many times growing up. The world turned, and in seconds, the trees disappeared.

7 Sarah could feel her eyes slowly opening and starting to blink, but everything was black. She could feel a black bag over her head, and she remembered what had happened. Bret was in the woods, and he had drugged her, but why? Bret had always been...

It was early May now, and the woods were in full bloom. Sarah was sitting in the passenger seat of her mother's car and staring out the window. Everything was so green, but it was summer after all. Sarah could hear the radio faintly, and she smiled...
