REBIRTH
MEW'S CHILD
Ch. 33
Following the feeling of Lady Suicune's mind, I quickly jumped the teleport to just above the tree line, then quickly shot off like that of a bullet out of a gun towards where I felt she was at the moment. "We should be there shortly." I said to Trisha as she quickly looked about us as the miles were quickly eaten away by the teleport.
'I have to admit that I am a little nervous about all of this.' She said as I slightly turned to the side to look down at her out of the corner of my eye, but kept my eye on the horizon for fear if I diverted my gaze that we'd end up crashing into a tree or something else just as large.
"About what...meeting Mew?" I asked her as she nodded up to me and I could see that she was shivering a bit at that thought.
'I mean, it is not every day that you meet the legendary mother of all Pokémon.' She said with a bit of a shiver. 'How am do I greet her, act around her......' She went into some kind of babel that I couldn't understand and I just had to shake my head, but stopped in mid shake as I realized that maybe I was playing this off a little too easily. After all, wasn't she my mother too, in a way?
'I guess I could knock it up to her being my...half mother in a way.' I thought to myself as I tried to think of things from Trisha's point of view. I didn't really remember my mother all that much, as I'd been told that she'd passed away when she'd given birth to me, so maybe I could think of Mew as my step-mother, but the thing would be, would she accept me...as me?
Much of the tree line thinned out in areas, but my eyes couldn't help but see the scorched areas out of the corner of my eyes that littered the area. Seeing the damage that'd been done to the forest was something that would take years to regrow, to which I felt a little heartbroken about. 'Couldn't there be a cure for something like this? Wasn't there some kind of Pokémon out there that could fix this?' I asked myself in question, but couldn't really answer myself at the moment as I needed to rejoin Lady Suicune. So, focusing on that of the teleport again, as it'd slowed slightly, we continued on our route, following/heading towards the mental thoughts of Lady Suicune as our beacon.
It wasn't that much later that I could feel that we'd be within easy walking distance of where Lady Suicune and Mew were, and I knew that a proper gentleman doesn't just, 'drop in' unannounced. So slowing the teleport I hovered there just above the trees and made a mental/aerial map of the surrounding area, just in case I needed to remind myself of which way it was to Lady Suicune and the hazards of heading in one direction or another. "We should be fairly close now, so I'm going to set us down so we will continue the rest of the way on foot."
'Why not just take us all the rest of the way there? Surely that would be easier and faster.' Trisha said in a tone that made it sound that she'd grown used to the teleport and didn't want to get her paws dirty unless needed. Though in truth it sounded like she might become spoiled if I continued to travel in this manner.
"The simple answer is, I don't want to just 'Drop In' on Mew, as that'd be very rude," I gestured towards the direction of where I thought both Mew and Lady Suicune were. "This way Mew will know that we are approaching and won't be spooked if we just suddenly arrive at her home. After all, she's already pretty upset about the whole thing with having her child stolen from her, and I don't want her to be angry at us for dropping in unannounced."
Trisha nodded up to me but when she cast her eyes downwards she seemed to find something pleasurable as a smile began to form on her furry face. 'I think they already know we are here.' She said which caused me to look down at her in confusion for a moment, only to see her point downwards with her paw. Turning to look at the way or where she was pointing at, I could see that not only was Lady Suicune was awaiting us but also that of Mew that hovered just slightly to her right. The look on eithers faces were quite different but had a bit of a similarity to them as well. Lady Suicune looked to have a very happy look upon her face at see us, while Mew had one of great joy that left tear streaks to run down her pink/furry face.
I couldn't help but smile at seeing Lady Suicune as well, and transferring the infant Cubone over to Trisha, I began to lower the three of us down to land lightly upon the grass before them. I'd hardly had a moment to release the final part of the teleport before I was promptly tackled to the ground by the two of them, then promptly assaulted by so many questions that I couldn't make any sense of what they were asking, and forget about trying to get in a word to answer any one of their questions. Finally it was the infant Cubone that 'was' asleep upon that of Trisha's back awoke from the noise and began to wail in distress of all the loud noise.
It was Mew who first noticed the distressed infant and quickly hovered over to it and began to swoon over it. After a few moments of that, resulted in the infants cries to change from distress to giggles of laughter when it began to play with the tip of her tail. I smiled at the sight of that and was only brought back to the other person who tackled me when I felt something brush against the horn in my chest. Looking at what'd brushed against it I saw that it was the braid of Lady Suicune's hair and with that I looked up to meet her eyes as she looked down upon me. "I'm back." I said with a bit of a chuckle.
'I am glad to have you back, my wayward knight.' She said in a very tearful/happy tone as the two of us leaned towards the other and embraced in that of a loving hug.
'So this is the knight that you have told me so much about.' Mew said as she hovered around my head, circling it as if she was scrutinizing me at every angle, once all of us had finally composed ourselves, we got down to introductions about how we knew each other and our association towards each of the members of our little group.
'Yes mother. His name is Genii and he was the one who rescued me from an awful trainer that wanted to capture me.' Lady Suicune said which caused Mew to stop hovering about my head and turn to look at Lady Suicune for a moment before turning back to face me.
"It is a true honor to meet you Lady Mew." I said in my regular voice as I went from laying there on my back to one of a kneeling position as if getting ready to be knighted. "I have been told of your plight and have sought after the trainer that stole away your child." Though somewhere in the back of my mind I wondered, 'Wasn't it true that every Pokémon was in some way shape or form a child of hers?' I then pulled off the Pokeball and then held it aloft for her to see the awful object that kept her child contained within. "If it pleases you, I shall release your child here and now, to be reunited with you."
I awaited there for a long while, and began to wonder after a while as to the reason why she wasn't telling me to instantly free her child. Looking up I was surprised to see that she was staring down upon me with wide eyes. I began to wonder what she was thinking at the moment, but before I could think of anything else I saw her float over to me and then lightly place her soft furry paw upon my forehead and give me a look of something akin to that of sadness. 'You are not truly one of my children, are you?' She asked to me as her furry paw lightly stroked my forehead.
"If truth be told, my lady, no. I am not 'truly' a child of yours." I said to her and knew now the reason why she didn't want me to instantly release her child. She was more interested in me and probably that of the story that led up to that of my being. With that thought I returned the ball back to my belt and nodded to her. "I was born that of a human, but through a series of events, my body failed me. My new father saved my life by transferring my strong mind into that of an infant Ralts. Through the years and many a travels I grew up to the Gallade that kneels before you today."
'A rather uneventful tale.' Mew said as she giggled a little bit as she turned and looked towards Lady Suicune. 'I think I like your story of how the two of you met a lot better.'
'You must forgive him mother; being humble is just something that he likes to be when meeting new or rather, very important people.' Lady Suicune said which got both of them to laugh a little at. 'Anyways Genii, what kept you so long? I thought that you would have returned a while ago. Did something hold you up?'
I nodded to that. "A few things Lady Suicune." I looked towards that of Trisha to see that she was still looking quite shy about meeting Mew, and was still a little ways off from us as if afraid to be in proximity of that of Mew. "One of which I'll probably bring up a little later, but for the most part it was so that I could make sure that the trainer that had captured Mew's child was healthy and had no lingering injuries from her..."
'MY CHILD!' Mew cried out as she quickly leapt up, scaring the poor infant Cubone that'd been lightly napping against Trisha's side. 'You have my child. Release her this instant!' To say the least I was quite shocked by how quickly her demeanor had changed in that moment of remembrance of what she was angry about before.
'Talk about changing your mood at the drop of a hat.' I thought in a bit of alarm as Mew staid right in front of my face no matter how far it was that I backed up. I finally found my back pressed up against a tree and nowhere else to go with a very pissed off/powerful mother right in front of me. It was Lady Suicune who came to my rescue as she used her horn to put a wedge between us.
'Mother, please, Genii has every intention of returning your daughter to you. Though he cannot rightly do such if you continue to hold him down like you are.' She said which cause Mew to back up a little and apologize once Mew had backed up a little. 'Is that not right, Genii?' To which I quickly nodded.
"Every intention." I said as I had found that at some point I'd thrown up both my arms in defeat. She seemed to accept that for the moment but didn't take her eyes off of me for a second or rather the belt that currently held the Pokeball that housed her daughter. I almost felt like I should wipe away some sweat from my forehead, but didn't as I dared not to show such weakness. Slowly getting to my feet I then reached down to my belt and removed the intended Pokeball. Hitting the activator button once, which allowed the ball to expand, and with the second press it activated the delayed release function. Giving the thing a toss into the air we all watched as it stopped in mid apex and hover there.
I was begging to think that there wasn't a Pokémon within the ball and that the trainer had somehow tricked me into thinking that that was the ball that contained Mew's child when the ball snapped open and released the Pokémon within. Just like all releases of a Pokémon from its ball, a pure white light shot out of the ball. Though before the light hit the ground it stopped a couple of feet off the ground and seemed to congeal there into some kind of form. So curious about who/what Mew's child was I didn't realize that I was staring into the light with my eyes wide, only to have them blinded by the explosion of white light as the Pokémon took on it form and fully materialized into the world again.
Once everything had lost its sparkle as well as its blurriness, did I look on the sight before me. 'What the heck? Who threw out all the glitter?' I thought to myself for a moment before I realized that instead of it being glitter it was some kind of glistening feathers that were slowly descending around the area. Giving a bit of a huff to the air (As if I were blowing up a stray piece of hair) was I able to see the true sight before me. Mew was hugging the chest of a Pokémon that was at least three...no, four times that of diminutive/miniature size. It had a light blue colored body with a light yellow underside, three pinkish colored rainbows around its body that seemed to be attached to either side as well as one on its back, three crescent shaped moons for its head with two on the side that came to a point at the top while the third curved out from the two upturned ones, and finally a strange purple like gem on the top of its forehead.
For the life of me I couldn't guess who that Pokémon was. The form and the shape looked so familiar but I couldn't guess who that Pokémon was. It was like one of those times that you had the answer at the very tip of your tongue but you couldn't bring it forward to say. It was also at that moment that I realized that someone was beside me and saw that Lady Suicune had moved up to stand beside me. Kneeling down so that I was a little closer to her I rested my left hand just above her shoulder and gave her a gentle rub there. "Forgive me for asking this Lady Suicune, but who is that upon which Mew calls her child?" She looked up at me for a moment with a confused look on her face until I gave a defeated sigh and nodded. "I know that I've seen that Pokémon over there, but for the life of me, a name doesn't come to mind. Could you tell me who that crescent shaped Pokémon is?"
She gave me a nod and then turned back to the heartwarming scene before us. 'That, my dear knight, is Cresselia. It is said that she is the one who controls that of good dreams. If you are to ever hold that of one of her feathers, it is guaranteed that you will receive pleasant dreams through the whole night. Not even her brother Darkrai, the bringer of nightmares, can stand up to her.' I thought about that for a moment before I nodded to her and turned to look upon the scene myself.
It was true that I knew the name of Darkrai, who hadn't when his name was always cursed when one would have a nightmare, but to remember that of the name of the one who brought you your good dreams usually goes unnoticed/forgotten for the hope of remembering the good dream you had that night. It was strange to think that we would remember the name of the one who brings us horrible dreams over that of the one who brings us our pleasant ones. I gave Lady Suicune another rub to just above her shoulders and a smile spread across my lips at seeing mother and daughter reunited at last.
