Unexpected Company

The sun rose and hit Ruby's face, slowly waking her up. She yawned and stretched out on the warm sand. She looked at Nall, who was still sleeping. A fiendish idea to wake him up crossed her mind, but she thought better of it, and let him sleep.

She leaned over the riverbank to take a drink. The sand in her fur began to agitate her skin. She looked at her reflection in the water. 'I look like some mangy old stray.' She thought to herself.

Slowly walking deeper into the river, the cool water penetrated her fur, causing her to shudder slightly. She sat down and began rubbing the sand from her fur and feathers. She stopped for a minute to reflect. "I wish Hiro was here. He always made this fun. Now it just seems like a chore."

Nall stirred. He slowly rolled over and opened his eyes. "Morning Ruby." Hs said lazily.

"Don't you know it's rude to watch a woman bathe?" Ruby replied half jokingly.

Nall may have been groggy, but he would never miss an opportunity for a cocky remark. "I'll keep that in mind when I see one."

His comment was rewarded with a splash of cold water. "And what does that make me, then?" Ruby asked.

Nall stood up and joined Ruby in the river. "The most beautiful dragon I've ever seen."

Ruby circled around to his flank. She put her paw on his shoulder and smiled. "Flattery will get you nowhere." She pushed him over into the water.

The water was reflecting the mid-morning sunlight, making it hard to see past the surface. She watched the spot Nall had disappeared intently, but was surprised when nobody came up. She was hit in the ear with a jet of water. She turned to see Nall's head poking out of the deeper water further into the river. They both laughed.

Ruby continued bathing as Nall swam back to the shallower water. She extended her wing in front of her as she meticulously picked the sand from beneath the tightly packed feathers. She repeated the process for the other wing.

Nall looked at Ruby's now droopy bow. "You should really take that off when you bathe.

"Why, so I can be naked, like you?" Ruby dipped her dace into the water. Nall watched intently as she pulled it back out, droplets of water flying everywhere.

Time seemed to freeze at that moment. Droplets, seemingly hanging in the air, reflected the sunlight, bending the ray into Ruby's eyes, causing them to glitter. Nall was fixated on her glimmering eyes, her beauty seemed magnified one thousand times.

"You really are a pervert." Ruby said after pulling her head from the water. "Huh? Nall?" She looked to see him in a zombified state, staring at her. She waved her paw in front of his face, snapping him out of it.

"Oh, sorry." Nall's face suddenly felt very warm, despite dripping with cold water.

Ruby got out and shook herself off. Her ribbon, losing its droopiness, now stood as it did before the bath. Nall wasn't far behind.

Nall looked at the position of the sun. "We should head back. The children are probably up and wondering where I am."

Upon reaching the entrance to Taben's Peak, Nall turned back into his human form. Ruby didn't care much for this form, and wished he would stay as a dragon. She said nothing about it, however.

"Hey Nall," Ruby said, looking toward the foliage to the side of the path. "Remember how we first met?"

Nall chuckled. "I don't think I'll ever forget. If I remember correctly, I had you by your wings, something like...this." He grabbed Ruby by the base of her wings and held her.

Ruby hung helplessly from Nall's hand. "Then, and now, be thankful you aren't pointing me at your face." He released her. She dropped a bit and flew up to Nall's face. She met his eyes with an agitated expression. Nall grinned, looking fairly silly in the process. Ruby lost any will to avenge her pride. She sighed and flew toward the lift, Nall not far behind.

The gondola reached the top, and Nall and Ruby stepped out. There seemed to be a lot of commotion; several of the children were running for the entrance dragging bags of rocks and pine cones. Nall stopped one of them. "What's going on here?"

"An unusual monster has wandered too close to out first defense line. We are taking care of it as we speak." The child replied.

Nall and Ruby followed the child to the location. "This is where you kids pelted us with pine cones." Ruby stated. "I see you've upgraded your ammunition."

They looked over the ledge to see a small grey object curled up on the edge of the platform. The objects it was being pelted with seemed to do little to move it. The monster lay curled up on the ground, quivering.

Ruby continued to watch the little animal, and began to feel sorry for it. She finally managed to turn her gaze from the painful sight. "Nall, that's enough. Not even a monster deserves this."

Nall raised his hand. "Hold your fire." The children stopped throwing things, and Nall continued. "This isn't getting anywhere. I'm just going to kick it off the ledge. Let the ground do the work for us."

He began to approach the ladder when Ruby flew around in front of him. "Ruby, get out of the way." He said firmly.

Ruby stood her ground. "Doesn't this seem the least bit wrong? Look at it..." She pointed to the monster, quivering at the end of the ledge. "It's obviously terrified, and probably in a lot of pain after what those children did to it. Maybe I can convince it to leave."

Nall glared at her. He could tell that she wouldn't budge on this matter and folded his arms in impatience. "Fine, get on with it. Don't come crying to me if it bites your wing off."

Ruby cautiously flew down to the platform and landed softly. She folded her wings and slowly approached the creature, so as not to scare it any more than it already was. "Excuse me..."

The creature's eyes widened in fear, and it crawled away from her. Ruby smelled a heavy scent of blood. Gazing at the creature, she noticed a large smear of it where the monster's stomach had slid across the platform.

"You're hurt." She said, taking another step toward the monster. The creature stepped back again, running its paws off the platform, causing it to look over the edge. It laid there shaking. Ruby stopped to prevent it from accidentally falling.

Ruby sat down, trying her best to sound friendly. "I'm here to help. Please step away from the ledge."

The monster laid there, wondering what to make of her.

Ruby continued. "I don't want to hurt you. You need help, that wound looks bad. Please, let me help."

Ruby slowly stood up and resumed approaching the monster, slower this time. It didn't move, and continued looking at her. She sat down right next to it. She lowered her head so she could talk eye to eye with the monster. "It's alright, I'm a friend."

The monster let out a small squeak.

Ruby tilted her head. "I'm sorry, I can't understand you."

The creature placed its paw on Ruby's. Ruby suddenly felt very strange, like a rush of information suddenly forced its way into her mind. She shook the feeling from her head. The monster squeaked again.

"Yes, I can understand you now. I'm not sure what you did, but that was incredible." Ruby said excitedly. She was suddenly reminded of the reason she was down here talking to a monster. She looked it over and tried to remember where she'd seen one before. "Hmm...grey fur, green mane, and a tail...I know I've seen your species before..." She said to herself.

She looked up at Nall, who was growing more impatient by the second. She suddenly remembered. "You are one of those chiro mongrels, aren't you? What are you doing here? For that matter, how'd you get so beat up?"

The chiro mongrel looked like it was having trouble staying conscious. Ruby nearly panicked. "Hey, hang in there, don't fall asleep!"

The monster's body went limp.

"Nall! Get down here!" Ruby shouted to the platform above them.

Nall jumped down, landing cleanly on his feet and walked over to them.

Ruby flew up to meet his face. "It's hurt. Please take it to your room and help it."

Nall looked annoyed. "Why should I?"

Ruby extended her claws and swiped them across Nall's face. "It'll get worse if that thing dies." She flew up to the above platform. "We are going to have company, if any of you so much as thinks of throwing something at it; I'll be throwing things at you. And if anyone has a problem with that, they are welcome to speak their mind as I throw them off this walkway."

One of the more challenging children stepped forward. "I doubt that."

Ruby flew up to the boy. She glared at him in a manner so intimidating, Nall, whom had just brought the chiro mongrel up stepped back in fear. "You want to test that theory?" Ruby said, still glaring at him.

The boy just stood there with his mouth open.

"Well?" Ruby asked again.

The boy shook his head and Ruby flew up to Nall's room. Nall ran there and met up with her. When he arrived, he noticed that she had already set out a place for the monster to rest. "Hurry up and lay it down here."

Nall laid the creature down on the floor and stood up. "We need to stop that bleeding." He ran out of the room and returned holding some bandages.

It didn't take long for him to finish covering the animal's wounds. "That's the best I can do. It would have a better chance if Ronfar helps. His skills as a priest would be of great use."

Ruby looked at the loosely wrapped bandages. "We need to do better than that. We don't have time to get a message to Ronfar. We're on our own."

"I can try again, but I doubt I will do much better this time." Nall suggested.

"I'll help." Ruby added.

They managed to tighten the bandages, and after a few hours, the creature woke up. It raised its head. Ruby was sitting directly in front of it.

"We were worried you wouldn't make it." Ruby said, smiling.

The chiro mongrel jumped to its feet and looked around in a panic. Feeling an intense pain in its abdomen, it collapsed to the floor.

"Don't do that, you are still hurt. You'll open up your wounds if you do that." Ruby reassured the animal. "You need to relax; you are in a safe place. By the way, do you have a name?"

It gave a small whimper.

Ruby tilted her head. "Well, we can't have you running around without a name now, can we?" Her eyes opened slightly. "How about Sayuri?"

It smiled and nodded.

"Sayuri it is then." Ruby said, smiling. "You look hungry. Would you like something to eat?"

Sayuri's stomach growled as Nall walked into the room holding a large plate of fish. He had changed his clothing since the incident. "I see our guest is awake, I'll get another plate."

Sayuri looked at Nall and immediately started growling.

"What's gotten into that thing?" Nall asked.

Sayuri growled louder.

"First off, she doesn't like being called 'that thing.' Second, she says that you threatened to kick her off the walkway." Ruby snapped.

"So, it's a 'she' now? And so what if I said it? I didn't do it." Nall shot back.

Ignoring the pain, Sayuri ran over and bit Nall's ankle. "Ouch!" Nall said as he flung her across the floor. "For being saved by me, you sure don't act very grateful." He walked towards the injured animal; ruby ran between them, shielding Sayuri.

Ruby started yelling at him. "I'm surprised you didn't notice; you seemed to be looking there enough. Besides, after that, I would have bitten you too."

Nall sighed. "I really don't want to argue this. I need some fresh air. My clothing should be done soaking anyway. I don't think I'll ever get the blood out." He turned and walked out the door.

***********

Sayuri whimpered and rubbed her head against Ruby.

"Don't worry. He's like that sometimes." Ruby paused a second before continuing, almost sadly, "We both can be a little insensitive." She dragged the plate of fish over to Sayuri. "Here, you need this more than I do."

After dinner, Ruby stayed close to Sayuri. She liked the monster, despite having once fought many of them. She felt she was gaining an understanding that nobody ever had before. She sensed there was more to these strange beasts than what first appeared. She wondered if all monsters were this way.

Sayuri licked Ruby's face. Ruby was caught a little off guard by this action and jumped back. Sayuri whined softly.

"You don't have to thank me, it was my pleasure." Ruby said, afraid of what her new friend had in mind after that lick.

Sayuri approached Ruby, who began to feel incredibly uncomfortable. "You're kind of scaring me Sayuri." Ruby said, her voice sounding tense.

Sayuri leaned into Ruby until she fell over. Ruby was just about paralyzed.

Laying on her flank, Ruby watched Sayuri walk around behind her. "Now you are really scaring me Sayuri. Please, stop this."

Sayuri laid down behind Ruby. Ruby still couldn't move through fear. She didn't want what she thought was going to happen. "Sayuri, I like you, but...I don't think I like you in that way."

She heard a slight yip from behind her.

"What!? If you don't either, then why are you doing this? I told you, I wasn't interested in any thanks." Ruby said, almost panicking.

She heard a soft whine from Sayuri.

"This isn't right. I didn't want-" She stopped as she felt a wet object pass between her legs, and a wave of intense pleasure flowed through her body. The sensation caused her muscles to roll her unto her back involuntarily.

"Nall would kill me." She said in a half serious attempt to stop herself and her friend from continuing. "We ca-ah-n't continue." Her resolve was failing with each lick.

Sayuri kept licking her friend, ignoring her rapidly fading protests, which were quickly turning into moans of pleasure.

Ruby could no longer fight what her body was telling her, and stopped trying. Each wave of pleasure was stronger than the last. Sayuri's soft tongue was unlike anything she had ever felt before. She quickly began to feel a building sensation in her body. She tried to suppress it as long as possible, with no luck. Her body convulsed and she felt an intensely strong sense of euphoria. The feeling immediately died again, and she felt disappointed it didn't stay longer.

Ruby managed to stand up, although she was a little wobbly from the experience. She turned to Sayuri, who was still cleaning up the fluids from her face.

Ruby smiled slightly, but felt somewhat guilty. She sighed. "I guess I should return the favor."

Sayuri rolled over. Ruby laid down behind her, noting that her bandages should probably be changed.

She began licking Sayuri's hindquarters gently, trying not to cause too much movement, for fear of her wounds hurting her.

Ruby liked the taste of Sayuri's private parts. She could hear Sayuri panting heavily. She brought her head up to make sure she wasn't in any pain. "Are you ok Sayuri?"

Sayuri yipped slightly.

Ruby continued her work. She dug her tongue into her friend, causing deeper panting. She was surprised at the fact that it seemed like she had experience with this. 'She couldn't be that old, she was smaller than many of her type I have seen before.' Ruby thought to herself as she savored the flavor of Sayuri's insides.

Sayuri started convulsing. Ruby was worried she would hurt herself, but felt that she would disappoint her friend if she stopped now. Her inhibitions ceased when her face was splashed with a juicy fluid.

Ruby cleaned it up as Sayuri turned around and licked her face.

"Let's keep that a secret from Nall." Ruby said.

Sayuri nodded and laid down and fell asleep on the floor. Ruby flew into her makeshift bedroom and dragged a blanket back. She covered her friend and fell asleep next to her. She hoped Nall would let her stay.
