Two Kings one Prince: Part Four
#5 of King
King Zaptor sat on his throne looking over the plans of an attack to reclaim one of the docks the humans had taken over. Having heard that a lone human had bought the dragons, and that the human was young, he had a idea that it was Brandon, who had freed them. He asked to be left alone, looking over the charts for any possible idea that could be used for the best way of attack, when some voices where heard just outside the throne room doors.
"I have to see the king!" it was the voice of Zel, having seen her since she departed to find out who Brandon father was. After her days of training him with magic and caring for him were done, she was given a job to teach many others, by becoming the King Sage. Her only work at the moment though, was helping the other magic casters find Brandon blood father.
"I'm sorry ma'am," one of the guards spoke. "But the king said not to be disturbed."
"This is something to do with the mission he gave me you fool!" she nearly screeched. "Now let me in or I'll..."
"Allow her in!" the king shouted loud enough for them to hear, as the door swung opened, the white drake flew in almost in a run and bowed before the king, as the door closed behind her. She bent down forward halfway, her breath coming out heavy and fast.
"I...found...something!" she panted in between each word. "Something even I couldn't believe in all my years of studying magic!"
"What is it?" Zaptor asked as he offered her a chair beside him, one that Brandon would use, but knowing he wouldn't mind her sitting in it. She took the seat slowly, as if she would be cursed if she sat on it. When she was fully seated, she started to tell her tale.
"Well," she started. "I went to a dragon village a little off where the humans took over the docks, I saw Brandon boarding a boat with the other dragons, going to another dock, so at least he saved a handful." Zaptor sighed with a smile, he knew it was Brandon and was glad too that he got out of that dock without being noticed. "I wanted to go to him, but if I went in, well...you know what will happen...anyway!" she waved her paws with her eyes closed and head shaking. "What I was saying, when I went to the village, they killed off a few humans that dared to try and take the homes that were theirs. I got their blood sample; all came back unmatched to Brandon blood, speaking of which, I'll need another vale."
"You're going to have to wait until he returns then," the king answered. "I'm sure he'll return any day now, I sent two Wyvern mounts to fly out to pick them up, they will be there in the morning, and return the night. It seems our solders found something in the air that allowed the Wyverns to fly even faster, air pushing their wings to limits we didn't knew they had!"
"That's nice, alright but anyway," she went on as Zaptor only laughed at her fast like talking way of speech. "This old dragon I spoke to, told me a very old story, back when the human and dragon king first started their war. From what he told me, the dragon king kidnapped the human king daughter, and rapped her many, many times." She shook her head. "If that's not a way to provoke a war, I do not know what will. After the princess was rescued, she found out that she was with child!"
"What?!" Zaptor eyes grew wide from the information. "But that's impossible, dragons and humans are two very different races; how can they cross breed?"
"That's what I said!" she went on. "But what got me more...was their skill in magic!" Zel closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "They didn't need to use words to use magic...and their hands glowed blue when they used it."
Not a word was spoken as the two stared into the other's eyes, Zaptor jaw slightly agape as Zel nodded.
"We've been looking for Brandon father in the wrong race," Zel went on. "For his father..."
"Is a dragon...?" Zel nodded as Zaptor stood up and started to walk away a bit as Zel watched.
"Now it will be easier to find Brandon father," Zel laughed as Zaptor held his back to her. "We just need to..."
"I already know who the father is..." Zel tilted her head in slight confusion as she stood up.
"Who is it then my lord?" she asked as Zaptor turned to her fully.
"I am," he answered as Zel laughed.
"I know you consider yourself his father," she giggled and smiled. "But I mean..."
"I was the first and only to lay with Alice; Zel," he spoke causing Zel to stop laughing.
"What?" she blinked with confusion as Zaptor looked away.
"I had grown fond of Alice the more I saw her," he told a story he had not shared to anyone but his late mate. "My mate knew this, for I told her how I felt about Alice, as you know, some kings before me had many mates, and mine was more then willing to allow myself to have Alice if she and I wished." He closed his eyes slightly as he remembered the night he told Alice. "I told her how I felt for her, and that even though we were different, our hearts were the same. She told me she didn't know if she had true feelings for me, but wanted to try something to see if it was true; that night, we mated." Zel eyes nearly popped out of her head as she blinked at the back of her king. "I knew it was her first time, I could feel and smell her worry, I still feel her clinging to me...crying softly from the pain that we dragons don't hold for we don't share much of the same traits as humans do when it comes to mating. The next morning, she returned home, kissing me goodbye. She asked me to keep this from everyone else, until we were ready, I agreed, and watched her go." She turned to his son old teacher with soft eyes. "We wrote back and froth though mail, but she never returned, the only time I did see her...was dyeing before me."
"King Zaptor..."
"Zel," she straightened up as he started to walk toward the door with her behind him. "Get a mount ready for us; we are leaving to meet my son, to do the test to truly see if he is my blood son!"
The sky was a clear blue in the mid afternoon, Brandon yawned as he walked around bared chest around the dragon village, since no one really wore clothing, why should he, but he did have on a pair of dark pants. Tentra right beside him, holding onto his arm slightly as he smiled at the touch she was giving him, she too for today went bare chest; matching with Brandon with a pair of dark leggings as the two made their way though the city, talking a bit about what would happen when they returned to the castle, and about the ball.
"You'll be fine," Brandon spoke, rolling his arm he didn't have the drake clinging to, his muscles rippled as he moved them. "Nothing will go wrong."
"But what about the others?" she asked looking to him. "There will be girls with...higher class then me!"
"Uh Tentra?" he smiled holding her to his chest as he kissed her softly. "You're my mate now, which makes you a princess."
"R...really?" he only nodded as they started to walk again, this time Tentra was leading Brandon away from the city, into the lush forest that surrounded them. Before he could ask where she was taking him, she hushed him with her paw, and led him far away from the village.
They came to a stop, a large pound nearly as wide as the village glistened in the sunlight, flowers blooming from the summer air, birds singing all around them. Brandon slowly took into his surrounds, he had seen such places dragon-made in the kingdom, but from nature herself; never.
"When I would want to think," Tentra spoke still holding his arm. "I would come here, I call it 'Tentra's Lake', since pound really doesn't sound nice." They shared a chuckle and turned to each other, and before they could lean in to kiss again, a soft clapping sound was heard.
"My, my, my," came a soft voice. "A few lovers out for a stroll I see," Brandon at once went in front of Tentra. A woman wearing the red mark of the human king slowly made her way though the trees, her blade easily seen as her red eyes bored to the two. "And a human with a drake," she snorted. "You really set your self low boy."
"Who are you?!" demanded Brandon, knowing who this women was working for, the human female smiled as she walked back and forth.
"I have lived many lives," she answered. "Been in the body of a wolf, an eagle, and even at one time in my life; a dragon. So I have many names," she stopped and smiled almost wicked like. "You may call me Sage though; it is what my first master called me, and what my new master had allowed me to keep."
"What do you want then?" he demanded again as Sage slowly shrugged her shoulders.
"I have not yet decided what I want for working with the human king," she answered. "Power, gold, land? No these things are useless to me, for having power, well I have that already, I but need to watch someone, kill them, and then take their body to take their power." She grinned, slowly drawing her blade as Brandon moved backwards with Tentra, cursing himself for not coming armed. "Gold, well I could simple make that, for I know magic unlike you have ever seen." She smiled again. "And land, well...once day all of this will change, I have seen what our future will hold, and I plan on waiting..."
"Waiting for what?" Sage only shook her head.
"Bah, I have spoken too much of my plan to wipe those damn lizards off the face of the world." She muttered as Tentra held Brandon tighter. "Now, come with me, and I'll let your little mate go, or," she drew closer. "I'll make you come with me."
Brandon flexed his left arm as it glowed blue for a moment, then combust into flames, Sage watched with a smile as Tentra moved back as Brandon glared.
"And how will you make me come with you?" he snarled as she laughed.
"Maybe not with me," she answered. "But...to me," Before he could say the slightest thing, she moved so fast that she was now before him in a heart beat. Using the flat end of her blade, she smacked Brandon in his chest sending him tumbling backwards as Tentra fell with him. Brandon was up at once, standing over Tentra as his arm grew brighter as he flexed his hands out toward Sage to fire a fire ball at her. But once more she was before him, a smirk on her face as she grabbed his hand with her own, not even minding the fire that wrapped around her fingers, as she pushed his wrist back; a loud snap was heard, followed by Brandon scream. He held his hand as Tentra went to his side to try to help him with his pain, but as Sage started to move forward, Brandon with a heavy breath, spoke to Tentra.
"G...get out of here Tentra!" he screamed. "Hurry!"
"I think not," Sage smiled as she kicked Brandon sending him hurtling toward a tree, his body hit it sideways, another cry of pain as Tentra cried out and started to run toward him again until the human female grabbed her throat pulling her back to her body as the drake screamed and struggled.
"L...let her go!"
"Still awake I see," Sage smiled with a shook of her head. "Quite hard headed aren't you? No matter though," her hand started to clutch and unclench. Words she was saying were lost to the two as Brandon stood up, broken wrist or not, he was going to make sure Tentra was safe as he ran toward Sage, arm out to grab his mate, until Sage opened her hand one last time, a large ball of lightening and fire flung to Brandon.
"When I find that boy I'm going to slap him sideways!" Nixi growled tapping her claws on her arm as Drake only chuckled.
"Come on now Nixi," he answered with a laugh. "He just got the girl he wants, and I'm sure they want some...alone time you know the old bed bouncing, hatch-day suit, bow chicka bow wow..."
"Okay, okay, I get it," snarled Nixi as she sighed. "I just want him to be safe."
"He knows magic Nixi," Drake answered. "I'm sure he's..." the sound of a explosion cause him to stop and both heads snapped to the source; as well as everyone else as Nixi started to run with her blades drawn.
"Let's go!" she hollowed as Drake nodded and followed after her.
When they came to where the sound was, they were not greeted with the greatness of Brandon or Tentra, but with a crater of blackness, no life, no water nor no trees stood.
"By the Dragoness," Drake gasped looking around. "What...what happened here?"
"I have no...what's that?" they both looked toward where under a tree, a large ball made of stone was seen, part of the tree that was behind it looked to be unharmed and unburnt. The rock black with soot until it started to crumble. And Brandon unmoving body falling onto his chest. "Prince Brandon!" Nixi ran over to him and pulled up onto his back, seeing many cuts and bruises on his body. Some worse then other showing he had many broken bones within his body.
"How the hell did this happen to him?" Drake question as he looked around. "And where's Tentra?"
"Right now our worry is with Brandon," the dragon spoke lifting his body slowly. "Run up and see if there is ether a healer or a sage that can help Brandon,"
"Right," he nodded and started to run off with Nixi behind him, walking slowly.
With a loud thud and a cloud of dust, night fall reached the village as a large red Wyvern landed on the ground, two riders on its back, Zaptor and Zel. Everyone was done on their knee at once when Zaptor walked toward them, thinking that he would have at least seen his son by now, but seeing nigh of him, not even a hair!
"King Zaptor!" the king and Zel turned to see Nixi make her way up to the two, watching with worry eyes to the Wyvern behind them, but approached all the same.
"Nixi," Zaptor replied. "It seems you made it here safely then," he darted his head around a bit as if thinking his now knowing son was around. "And where is Brandon? There is something myself and Zel must do." At once Nixi looked down; she couldn't bear to look at her king's face as Zaptor saw this. "Nixi...where is my son?"
"He's..." she started. "In the healer's care." Zaptor body tensed at once.
"What happened...when did it happen?" Nixi shook her head slowly.
"What happen we do not know, we heard a big explosion and when me and Drake went to go look at what caused it, we found Brandon as he is now; slightly better yes, but not doing so good unless we have a full healing magic user."
"You have one," Zel answered walking forward. "Where is the healer?" Nixi pointed with her chin as Zel nodded, walking past her and into a small wooden home as Zaptor looked away.
"How long was this?" he asked as Nixi looked down.
"A day ago," she answered. "He hadn't woken ether, the healer's say it's because his body is trying to heal itself somehow, but something is not allowing it to."
"Magic?"
"Unlike they've never seen." She slowly looked up to him as she bowed her head again. "I...have failed you King Zaptor, I will gladly take any sort of displeasing you choose to regain my honor." Zaptor just made his way past her, she watched after him for a moment, until he turned to look at her.
"Let your punishment be known, that you failed to keep my son safe as you have gave oath to, if he dies; your life will also end."
"I...understand," she bowed her head again as Zaptor made his way into the wooden home himself.
Zel was leaning over Brandon body, only his leggings were worn as she healed over his wounds, she chanting so low that the words escaped all that heard. The King made his way in as all but Zel who was still busy working over the young man bowed their heads.
"May all but Zel leave; I wish to speak to her alone about my son welfare." No one spoke against him as they bowed and left, closing the door as Zaptor took a seat beside the working drake. "Well?"
"His wrist was broken in many places," she answered. "They had an herb around it to slowly heal it, at least they have some common knowledge to healing." She shook her head lightly. "Look at his hands though," she flipped both up to show what seemed to be dust dried onto his skin. "This was made from a skill I thought him, any elements around him could be use as a shield, the less dense it was, and the harder it was to deflect anything. It was true earth was all around him, but grass would have to be pulled off, then the dirt; so he was still harmed here." She pointed to his chest which held a large black spot. "Also his ribs were broken; I'm surprised he didn't kill himself pushing back all that magic that was used on him!" Zaptor only nodded, a small smile on his face that even with someone, or something that was trying to kill his son, even then he fought to the end to stay alive.
"Have you done the test?" Zel shook her head slightly, pointing with her tail to a small stone, which swirled with red.
"I was able to get Brandon blood," she answered. "All you have to do is put your finger over it, cut it to draw blood, and allow it to fall onto the stone."
Zaptor nodded and went over to do as she told him to, taking his blade and made a small cut on his finger, allowing a small trickle of blood to slowly pass down his finger onto the stone. At once it started to glow a yellow light, a low hum, and yellow swirled around with the red.
"It will take a while for the test to be done," she answered still working over Brandon, the black spot on his chest slowly disappearing as she spoke. "So by the time I'm done, no doubt that test will as well."
"How will we know he is my son?" he asked as Zel looked to him for a moment.
"You have gold scales," she answered. "Also known as yellow, if the stone pluses like a heart of yellow, then it is a match."
"How is this possible though?" he asked her as she shrugged.
"Not sure myself, this was giving to my mother ages ago since she was a sage before myself." Zaptor only nodded, taking his seat and turned it so that he could look at both the stone, and his son.
"He is my son," he answered lowly. "No matter what that stone says...he is my son."
Brandongroaned, he felt sore all over, well he knew he should've been feeling sore all over; but the fact was, he felt nothing.
"Great...I'm dead," he muttered to himself as he opened his eyes to look around. He was in what looked to be a city, but it was unlike any city he had ever seen before. Towers, high into the air, some made of metal and glass, others he couldn't even think of what they held. Looking around, he saw that weird looking carts, made of metal were being pushed without horses, and made what sounded like growling. He was in utter confusion as he backed away, wearing only his legging and bared chest still looking all over the place.
"Hey kid!" Brandon turned to see a man dressed in blue; he held a small thick stick on his belt as he crossed his arms. "What are you doing here?"
"I...I don't know..." he answered truthfully. "Where am I?" the man in blue gave him a puzzle look and rolled his eyes.
"Tourist huh, well you're in Dartmouth Nova Scotia." Brandon only blinked in confusion.
"Well...what are those things?" he pointed to the things making the growling noises as the man laughed.
"Never seen a car before kid?"
"Car? And stop calling me a kid!" he growled lightly. "Where is the dragon village?" again the man laughed loudly as he patted the confused unknown to him dragon prince.
"Dragon?" he asked. "There are no such things as dragons' boy, only in old stories!" he chuckled again and shook his head. "Maybe the heat's getting to ya, go on, get going home." The man left, leaving Brandon shocked and confused even more as the man slowly faded away, leaving him alone in the city, no other human, or what he called 'car' were even seen, just he large buildings.
_The time on our world have changed young Prince of the Dragons._Brandon turned when he heard a soft voice coming from all around him. The voice sounded female, but unlike any voice he had ever seen.
"Who are you?" he questioned. "Where am I, what am I doing here?"
Peace Prince, the voice spoke again. I have brought you here, to see what you will have to face in all due time.
"What do you mean, whoa are you, show yourself!"
He heard the sound of footsteps behind him, turning around, he found a pale blue dragoness make her way up to him, a long sliver gown flowing behind her, stones that sparked in the light on her body as Brandon gasped and at once went to his knee and bowed; he was before the Dragoness Goddess.
You do not need to be so formal with me young Prince, she spoke in his mind. Her lips not moving as she cupped his chin to make him look at her as he slowly rose.
"Goddess," He whispered. "I...I don't understand what's happening, where am I?"
What you see here Prince,_she answered turning to point. _Is our world, hundreds of years from now, this here is what our future holds. Brandon jaw opened, he couldn't believe that this was what the world would be like one day. Do not worry though, this will happen hundreds of years after you and your love no longer is with the living.
"I don't...understand."
Do you remember that women named Sage?_Brandon nodded, remembering all too well. _It was I who created her Prince, I made her what she is, for yes I am all powerful, but even I, like the stars in the sky; will die soon. Brandon flinched back as she spoke as she turned to face him. I have brought you here, so that I may speak to you in secret, for that Sage may hold the power of hearing us in our own timeline, and do not worry, it is just your soul that's here, not your body.
"That makes it better..." he answered. "I think." She gave a warm chuckle.
Prince, listen to my words. Sage will somehow bring a human from this time, to make this human serve her to kill off all dragons, and drakes. But, there will be one other that will come, that I will chose to help you and your child stop them.
"My...child?!" Brandon was taken back. "I haven't even mated yet in my life!"
Not yet, she answered. But it was not chance that you and Tentra fell for each other, but fate. She smiled lightly holding Brandon shoulder with her paw. You will have a child, a female drake.
"I'm..." he whispered. "Going to be a father...?"
And a fine one at that too,_the dragoness answered. _I have seen it all, how you will live your life with your family. She smiled lightly and then closed her eyes. Now for the next reason why I brought you here, to show you who will fight with your daughter to stop Sag! She flicked her wrist to make both teleport to what seemed to be a two story building, long with many young humans out and about. Look there, and tell me what you see.
"Brandon!" the prince turned behind him to see a few other humans, with a ball in their hand, they all looked the same age as him.
"Yeah what is it?" came another voice in front of the prince, his eyes growing wide, standing before him; was he! But unlike himself, he had longer hair, spiked up slightly with yellow frosty tips, his eyes green as he wore a blue over shirt, a white shirt under it and blue jeans. One ear was pointed a bit with two earrings, one on each ear. The Prince Brandon, reached his hand out to touch himself, but the hand went though. Once this happened, the other Brandon, rubbing the hair he grew on his chin and under his nose, shivered and looked around at once.
"What is it man?" asked one of the humans who spoke to him.
"Nothing," he answered sounding just like Brandon. "Hey, many a ghost touched me!"
"Bull shit man!" the second human spoke. "Look, those asses from the other side of the street said they can kick our asses in street football!" Brandon laughed loudly as he shook his head.
"Do they know that we are the fastest, they can't possible catch us!" they all started to walk away, but then the yellow frosty Brandon turned back, looking right at the Prince Brandon, who watched back. Moving back to where he was, he held his hand out, going though the Prince again as his whole body shudder.
"Man come on!" the ones behind him called. "Remember, losers pay for Mickey Ds!" (This is MacDonald by the way; it's what I and my friends call it.)
"Uh...right..." he shook his head and ran up to them, still looking back.
He could not see us,_Answered the dragoness. _But see, somehow he knew you were there, even though he has the smallest of dragon blood, it still runs thick for his senses. She flicked her wrist again, taking them to the top of one the buildings. Now, before you are sent back Prince, I have but one last thing to say, and ask you.
"Alright," Brandon answered himself still a little confused.
When you die and are about to pass on to the next world, I wish for you, to take my place.
Zaptor sighed, looking to see the spot on Brandon was as small as his fist now, the stone shook a few times, but still, both colors swirled, a little faster though.
"Just a little more," Zel answered.
"Take your time," he answered. At times the female would have to stop to take a breather and eat, but other then that, she worked on Brandon. Many times he could see his son hand twitch, which worried him. "Please be alright my son," he whispered softly as the stone stopped moving and hummed, making both turn their heads to see what the stone held.
"W...What!?" Brandon gasped walking backwards. "Why me, why do you want me to..."
Your heart is pure Brandon,_she answered in his name for the first time. _Even when those humans held your people, you did not kill them.
"Four to a village filled with men armed...not really good math don't you think?"
Even so,_she answered. _Somewhere deep in yourself, you believe that they should be given a chance to see what your people are like...right? You have been raised by them, a human raised by dragons. He nodded as she moved closer to him. Your mate and child will come to you when they die as well, if that's what you're wondering about. It was true he was what he was thinking, but could he really take the place of her?
"Are you sure?"
I am, you are to be the next, Brandon, God over the Dragons! That is, she chuckled softly. If you so choose. The world around them started to fade as she floated away from him as Brandon moved forward to try and grab her. When you have made your choice, she called to him. Look to the stars and speak your answer!
"Wait!" he cried out. "Where is Tentra, how will I find her!?"
_ Ride the mighty beast of red, he will take you to her._
Brandon eyes shot open and he shot his body upright in the bed he laid in. his face drenched with sweat as he held his head in his hands. He didn't know if what happened was only a dream, he shook his head. He didn't care at the moment; he had to save Tentra no matter what the cost. Swinging his legs off the bed, he found he felt no pain, looking down to see that he was fully healed, and seeing both Zel and Zaptor outside, he had a idea why. He also heard a slight growl, looking back he saw the Wyvern that his father rode in on, and was red! "Okay..." he muttered to himself. "Not a dream." Looking around he found a shirt and also a long sword. Clipping it around his hip and slipping some arms guards he found beside the bed, no doubt his father since they were as gold as his own scales. He made his way toward the window, before something caught his eye. "I wonder why that stone is yellow," he muttered as he jumped out and closed the window.
