Two Kings One Prince: Part Three
#4 of King
For the next few days, the group of four had stayed within the walls of Tentra home, the female drake watching over her mother, buying her the medicine that she said that she needed, but both the mother and Brandon knew; that was not the case. Everyday they stayed, the worse she got to the point she was spitting up blood. At night when Brandon would stay in her room, this time taking the chair with a extra blanket, he would hear her soft cries as she wept for her mother; in a way, Brandon thought that she knew her time was coming. On the forth day staying there, both Tentra and Brandon were getting ready for another day. Brandon fought with himself the whole night trying to think of a way to ask Tentra to be his mate, but nothing came to mind until the moment he woke up. With her back to him, he dressed, wearing an all black suit, with a white undershirt. Coming out of the room they shared, Tentra went into the cooking area to prepare some food for the morning, while Brandon went to tend to her mother. When he got to the bed, he noticed something, most of the days; the pale scale drake would be up, waiting for the two to awake as well. But today, she lay still, not moving with her eyes closed.
"Ma'am?" he asked going over to hold her shoulder, he shot back at once; it was freezing. He looked toward the window, it wasn't open and a fire was still burning slowly in the fireplace. Looking over at her again, he touched her arm then hand, again freezing, gulping slightly, he slowly moved his hand up to her neck pressing two fingers to where her pulse would be, and prayed for at least a weak one. His head bowed, his hand drifting away from her neck and off the bed as he fell to his knees; he felt nothing.
"Brandon, mom how do you want..." Tentra walked into the room, a knife in her hand as she saw Brandon kneeling, he looked over and he saw the sadness in his eyes, looking at her mother then back to him, her lips quivered as she dropped the knife. "N...no!" she fell forward as Brandon was up and caught her, holding her to his body as she clung to him crying hard into his shoulder. he fell to his knees again as she did as well for her own legs couldn't hold her up as she cried her sorrow out on the shoulder of the human, as he held her tighter; his own tears slipping though his eyes as he joined her.
She was laid to rest later that day, Tentra holding onto Brandon hand the whole time as she sobbed lightly though out the whole ordeal. It was the first time they ever held hands like this, and nether wanted it to be like this. Friends from the village took turns speaking about Tentra mother, some making small jokes on how she would gut anyone who tried to harm Tentra. A few laughs here and there to try and lift everyone moods, even Brandon went up to speak about the drake. He told everyone that she never treated him like a prince after the first day he stayed, but as a person, which was what he always wished for everyone to do for him; saying that she had a kind heart, and a smile that would make even a bandit drop his steel to the ground. Walking back to Tentra said, she thanked him, holding to his arm and leaning closer to his shoulder. His arm wrapping around her own shoulder as the two held each other close. Like all deaths, gifts were given to show their passion for the one who was last. Tentra laid a poem she made that se planed on telling her that morning, Nixi placed an engraved bracelet as well as Drake. Many others gave gold coins or makeshifts gifts, and Brandon, pulling off a ring on his finger of a blue dragon curling around his ringer, placed it on her left hand. And just like that, the casket was laid, and the hole covered.
"I just want to go back," the female drake spoke lightly back at her mother home. "My friends here said they would look after this place for me until I get my things to come back, you understand right Brandon?" the human nodded, slowly looking away, he knew that she wanted to come back to live here, and that it would be easy just to send for her things, but she wanted to see Brandon ready for the ball.
"I understand, if...if you excuse me, I need some air." He made his way to the door and walked out to the back, his back to them all as his body lent on a tree, his arms crossed before him as his head held low.
"Was it something I said?" asked Tentra as Nixi was about to answer, Drake cut in.
"You don't even see it do you?" he asked as Tentra turned to him. "He likes you for god sake!"
"What?" asked Tentra in confusion, as Nixi just nodded her head.
"You have no idea Tentra, on how much he likes you, he and myself spoke a while ago about it. Tentra, he wants to be your mate." The drake took a step back, holding her up a bit on the wall as her heart went a mile a second. It was true, like her mother had told Brandon unknown to her though, that she had feelings for the human, but she never thought that he would have feelings for her.
"So when he asked...to stay with him that night...?"
"It was no doubt the first stage to try and ask you to be his mate." Answered Nixi as Tentra sighed sitting down.
"But his father..."
"Does not care who he falls for," Drake stepped in. "He loves his son and will stand by him though anything if he meant his happiness." Tentra had nothing to say to this, it was true, like her mother told Brandon days before her death that she had feelings for him, but she never thought that he too had feelings for her. Nixi saw her thinking hard on the matter as she spoke up again, with her hand on Drake shoulder.
"Myself and Drake will retire to the pub of which we are staying, I'm sure you and Prince Brandon would no doubt like some time to talk this over." And with that, the two made their way outside, leaving the door opened, as Tentra soon went out as well, going to where Brandon was.
She found him still rooted to the same spot, eyes closed, arms crossed; let his head was held high, looking up at the clear mid-day sky.
"Brandon?" the human turned slowly and saw the drake behind him, while sighing, he slowly turned the rest of the way, letting his arms drop. "I have something to say,"
"May I say what I have to say first?" Tentra only nodded slightly, moving closer to him as he started to speak. "Tentra...I...and well...I...and..." he closed his eyes trying to think of the words to tell her, when he felt something brush on his chest, and then on his lips. Shooting his eyes wide opened, he came to find Tentra with her lips on his, eyes closed as she placed both hands on his chest, her body close to his own. When at last she broke her lips away from his, her chest still pressed up to his as she moved her hands to his wrists and held them lightly.
"I know," she told him with a smile as he only blinked with confusion.
"W...what, but how did you know?" he frowned as he sighed out loud and shook his head. "Nixi?"
"And Drake too," she answered with a soft chuckle. "But did they speak the truth...do you really truly have feelings for me?"
"I do," he answered holding her hands in his own. "I don't know how and when I fell for you, I just knew that one day, I saw you in a different way, not the servant that helped me, or a friend that listened. But a women I want to spend the rest of my life with." She gave him a warm smile and leaned up a bit, kissing his lips softly for a moment as he returned the kiss, wrapping his arms around her waist and pushed her into him. When they broke the kiss, he looked into her eyes, until something came to mind. "When did you start having feelings for me?" he asked as Tentra thought back for a moment.
"Remember that night when I went out to get some stuff for your room?" she started. "And that drunken dragon kept trying to make me mate with him, and then you cat looking for me after a while, to see that I was on the ground in a mess because he started to slap me around?" Brandon nodded, remembering all too well that night when he found her like that. He sent her off to get some things that he needed to make something for his father, when she didn't return in the time she said it would take, he started to get worry and went out to find her. When he did find her, she was laying on the ground, curled up in a ball whimpering as the towering dragon kicked her in the gut over and over again. Brandon then taking his blade, sliced the dragon arm off, and ordered the guards that came with him to make sure the dragon didn't bleed to death, that he still had to face Brandon when he was no longer under the spell of drunkenness.
"Yeah," he answered. "I cut his arm clean off.
"Well, when I saw you picking me up and carrying me, I saw a different side of you that day," she admitted with a small smile. "After that...I couldn't stop but think of what it would've been like to be your mate."
Brandon only stood there, the two holding each other close to the other as he smiled and hugged her again; kissing the base of her neck as she somewhat shuddered.
"Do you want to be my mate?" he asked as she looked toward him and nodded with a smile.
"Yes," she answered. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, but uh, do you think we can...hold off the...you know, until maybe after the ball?" Brandon only nodded. Seeing how it was so soon after her mother passed, he didn't want their first night to be remembered as the same day the drake mother pasted.
"Of course," he answered with a smile as the two kissed once more. Unknown to the two, someone was watching close by, a human female, bearing the red markings of the King of the Humans. Light armor with a small like blade on her hip. Her hands covered in red markings, which seemed to be veins that would go out her arm, ending at her neck. She gave a slight chuckle as she watched the two make their way inside the home which now belonged to Tentra, as the human, tossing her blond and white line hair turned away and chuckled softly.
"I know I was to bring back the boy when I first found him," she muttered to herself. "But maybe now...I can bring him to me, without the need of hurting him." She chuckled again and snapped her fingers as a glowing light of a swirling vortex opened before her. Turning slightly back, she gave a sneer look and smiled. "Enjoy your time together lovely," she spoke. "For the next time I see you, it will may be your last time together!" with that, the human walked though, the vortex closing, and the sound of the world seemed to return to normal.
