Tora- A Challenge Made and Two Kinds of Trouble
#18 of Tora
Ya know, when I first "finished" this chapter, I honestly thought I was done. I went to bed knowing that I was gonna edit it and post it yesterday, but after I looked over it, it didn't feel so "finished" anymore. It was missing something, so I sat in front of it for a few minutes until I figured out what was throwing me off. It only had 6,214 words. It felt too short and one part didn't really "end". Suddenly, inspiration struck me and I knocked out 1,026 in one afternoon. Oh, that felt so good. I love doing this. I feel like I'm accomplishing something. So, you all know the drill. Start reading and make sure you comment and vote. Those kinds of things are still welcome and appreciated.

It was well into the evening. Most people and pokémon are usually asleep, but in a secluded area near Celedan, everything but sleep was going on. "Is everyone accounted for?" Chad asked through his nearly invisible ear-piece. He kept a watchful eye over all the "guests" as he walked about during "his" party. He had a select few of his pokémon at different points of the house to help with the surveillance.
"Yes, master, everyone is still accounted for on my end," someone replied telepathically. It was from his gardevoir, Cosmo, who was stationed upstairs on the east side of the house.
"Everything's fine over here," another telepathic reply came, this time from his gengar, shade. He stayed in the shadows "No one's made a move yet... Unless you count a drunk chick trying to get our luxray friend to mount her in your room."
"He can take care of himself," Chad replied. "Keep an eye out for anything suspicious. Don't hesitate to tell me anything." He walked through the crowd of half-drunk people in the kitchen to make to the other side of the house, where Miu was waiting for him. "Anything yet?"
"No, he hasn't done anything yet," she replied. The dragon was referring to the short, husky man in a pinstripe suit. A tall blaziken stood next to him, looking as intimidating as ever. It seems like he's keeping watch while his master was flirting with a couple of half-drunk women. The sight of it disgusted Chad to the pit of his stomach.
"How long has he been over there?"
"Nearly half an hour now. I swear that everything that comes out of his mouth is complete garbage."
"It's really sad that they're not sober enough to realize that," he said. "You want me to get you something to drink?"
"Sure, but not too much. Someone spiked the punch... A lot." Nodding to her, Chad made his way over to the table with the food and drinks. Unfortunately, the area was really crowded and he had to shove his way past several people. He was almost there when he felt something prick his arm.
"The fuck?!" he cursed, yanking his arm away. He quickly looked for whoever it was that did it, but couldn't because everyone was moving around and too closely packed. He silently cursed again and continued to the table. Once there, he grabbed a plastic cup and filled it a little over half-way. "Damn, she wasn't kidding," he thought as he could smell nothing but alcohol coming from the cup. He made mental note to get his own cup after this night was over. As he went to deliver the drink, he started to feel weird. The music that was playing sounded better to him than it did a few minutes ago, even though punk rock wasn't his favorite genre of music.
"Thanks, I really needed this," Miu said before she took a sip from her cup. Chad jumped and blinked rapidly for a second.
"When the hell did I give her that?" he thought_. "I couldn't have walked across the room that fast."_
"Hey, you okay?"
"Uh, yeah... I'm good. Hey, keep an eye on him. I gotta find, uh... Damn, what was his name?"
"Are you sure you're alright? You look-"
"Isn't that right, boy?" Lou said right next to him, making him jump. Chad suddenly flung himself next to his "employer", holding a half-empty cup and looking at three women.
"Huh, what?" he said in a daze.
"Looks like somebody needs to lay off the punch," Lou laughed, followed by the three girls.
"Chad, are you alright?!" Cosmo asked worriedly. Chad gripped his head as a sudden headache came over him. Whoever that voice is, she was not helping it go away. "Answer me, Chad!"
"S-shut up..." he mumbled. Everything was getting blurry and the room started spinning. He stumbled away from the laughing group. It was at this point that he couldn't even see straight. Everything was merged together in a huge mass of jumbled mess. He kept bumping into people, his coordination was off, and the music sounded slow and fast at the same time. Suddenly, something big and orange stood in front of him. It spoke to him, but he couldn't understand it. Then, everything turned black.

Back in Pewter City, Tora was the first to wake from her slumber. She let big yawn and sat up on her hind legs. She looked to her left to see Chris sleeping face down on the pillow, lightly snoring. Looking to her right, she saw Aaron curled up on his side with his tail wrapped around him.
"I can't believe how cute he can be sleeping," she thought. Taking note of the time, the chu didn't want to waste the day away staying in bed. She freed her tail from under the sheets and brought it in front of her. Carefully, she brought the tip to Chris' ear and gently poked the inside. Chris immediately slapped his ear, jerked his head away, and rolled off the bed; all at the same time. The resulting thud woke Aaron up with a start. The psychic found Tora leaning over the side of the bed giggling. Curious as to what was so funny, he went over and peered over the bed to see Chris on the floor, rubbing his head.
"There are better ways to wake a person up," Chris groaned.
"But none of them are as fun as this," Tora replied.
"Says the one who's still on the bed." Chris sat up and stretched his arms with a big yawn. He looked over at the clock and saw that it was 8:57 am. "Well, I guess I better get changed so we can meet Alice over some breakfast food. You don't mind if I change here, right Aaron?"
"Chris, I saw you naked just last night. I think I can handle seeing you in your underwear," Aaron replied.
"Is that what you want?"
"I, er... Didn't mean-"
"He's joking, Aaron," Tora said as she kissed his cheek, making him blush a bit. Chris got up, changed his clothes, brushed his teeth, and left the room with Tora and Aaron, now disguised as an espeon, behind him.
They headed straight for the cafeteria, which was located down the hall after they made a right at the steps. It was a decent sized room, complete with long tables and benches, bars/counter tops full of all kinds of breakfast foods, and a juice bar. Chris saw Alice eating at a table next to the juice bar with April and made his way over to them. "Morning, Alice," he greeted. Alice looked up from her plate and waved to the group.
"Morning, Chris," she replied. "I was starting to think you'd never get up."
"I would've slept in a little long if it hadn't been for someone's bad idea of a wake-up call," he said gesturing to Tora.
"Well, it's a good thing she woke you up because the food doesn't stay hot forever. You might want to get some be fore it cools."
"Right, I'll be-"
"I'll get it!" Aaron piped in.
"I wanna go too," Tora added.
"Er, okay. You two can get breakfast." The psychic and chu nodded and walked to the bar together. Chris was a bit curious as to why they were eager to get the food, but left it alone. They were entitled to some alone time, even if it was to go on a short errand. As he sat on the bench, Alice put her fork down and looked at him suspiciously.
"So, I've been wondering about this since yesterday, but is that espeon yours? It seems really weird that it would appear out of nowhere."
"Great,"_he thought. _"She had to ask that question.""Actually, Aaron doesn't belong to me. He belongs to my mom."
"Then what's he doing here?" Chris pointed at Aaron and Tora, chatting and laughing together as Aaron used his psychic powers to put food on their plates.
"You see that? Those two are madly in love. That espeon couldn't go one day on our journey without seeing her. Sending him back home would only hurt their feelings and, as a gentleman, I can't let that happen."
"Love, huh? Well, if that's case, are you gonna use him in your gym battles?"
"Uh... Not really. I want to do this with my own team of pokémon." Alice closed her eyes and sighed, thinking about everything that was told to her.
"I guess I can respect that. I wouldn't want to use any of my parents' pokémon if I had the option." Chris silently thanked Arceus for keeping her from asking any more questions. Just then, a plate with eggs, bacon, and three pancakes landed in front of him, followed by two other plates next to his. Aaron and Tora hopped up into their seats.
"Breakfast is served," Aaron said.
"What, no juice?" Chris asked jokingly, right before a glass of orange juice landed next to his plate.
"Anything else you need?"
"No, I'm good." With that, Chris picked up his fork and dug right into his food.
After their meal, Chris, Alice, and their pokémon left the center and set about finding the Pewter City Gym. Of course, with Alice already been to the city, they went straight to the gym. It was located on the west side of the city, not too far from the city limits. The gym itself was huge and decorated to symbolize what kind of pokémon the leader used. It looked like the top half was completely made of large boulders being held together by huge beams of steel.
"So this is the gym, eh? It looks kinda cool," Chris commented.
"I'm sure that's what they had in mind when they built the place." Alice said.
"Yeah, that, and make it painfully obvious which type of pokémon the leader uses."
"Just because it's obvious, doesn't mean that you'll have an easy win. They're not called 'gym leaders' for nothing," Aaron said.
"No kidding. How do you know about gym leaders?" Chris asked.
"The same way I find out about anything in this world. I venture out and investigate."
"Right, anything else I should know?"
"Mmm... there's a battle that's about to start inside."
"Really?!" Chris and Tora exclaimed. The two wasted no time running inside the building, leaving everyone else behind. They ran down a short hallway before arriving in a huge room, with plenty of overhead lights, and bleachers along the east wall. There was a trainer standing about twenty feet away in the trainer's box with a pokéball in his hand. Standing in the middle, where the referee usually stands, was a kid that looked like a younger version of Brock. Chris assumed that there was a strong possibility that they were related. Standing on the other side of the battle square was Brock, the gym leader. He wore dark brown khakis, a black tank top, and black shoes. His hair was black and really spiky, and his eyes were... closed? Chris couldn't really tell if they were open or not, but he wasn't too concerned about that. There was a gym battle about to happen and he was going to watch it. Alice, Aaron, and April had finally caught up to them.
"Hey, why the big rush?" Alice asked.
"A gym battle's about to start."
"Hey, you bunch over there!" someone shouted. It was the gym leader, Brock. "If you're gonna stand there talking, do it in the stands so you're not a distraction to the challenger." Without another word, the group made their way up to the middle of the bleachers.
"At least I know his eyes are open," Chris thought.
"This will be a two-on-two battle!" The kid began, speaking loud enough for everyone to hear. "The winner is decided when both pokémon of either side is unable to battle. Only the challenger is allowed to substitute their pokémon."
"Now, I hope you're ready for this battle. There's no holding back here," Brock stated.
"Don't worry about me; I'm ready for this," the trainer replied. "Let's go, grovyle!" The trainer tossed a pokéball into the air and a tall, green reptile popped out onto the battle field, ready to battle.
"That's a fine grovyle you've raised. Let's see how it does against my graveler." Brock tossed his own pokéball and a big, round, and very rugged rock appeared on the field. It unfurled itself to stand on its stubby legs. The referee raised his arm in the air.
"Let the battle begin!"
*****8*****
"Onix, use slam!" Brock shouted. The giant rock snake roared as it brought its lower half around to deliver a devastating blow.
"Use Protect, sneasel!" The trainer shouted desperately. The considerably smaller sneasel was panting heavily and barely had enough time to summon the green barrier before the heavy tail of the onix came crashing down. Chris and the others watched the battle in awe as Brock dominated the field. They hoped that the type advantage would play a part in the battle, but it didn't even matter. Brock shrugged off all the trainers' strategies like they were nothing. The biggest impressions were on Tora and Aaron. Reason being was because there was a chance that she might be going up against the monster of a pokémon. Neither of them was sure how she was going to pull it off if it came down to it.
Back to the battle, the sneasel had successfully avoided a fatal blow. "Quick, use Metal claw!" The sneasel dispelled the barrier and charged at onix with glowing claws.
"Sandstorm!" Onix roared and different segments of its body began rotating. Sand quickly erupted from between the segments and made a tornado surrounding the rock snake. The sneasel was forced to stop its attack due to the sand assaulting its eyes. "Finish it with Stone edge!" The sneasel couldn't pull itself together fast enough before it was pelted with at least a dozen sharp rocks, sending it flying back to its trainer unconscious.
"Sneasel is unable to battle. The winner is Brock," the kid referee announced. The trainer recalled his pokémon back into its ball with a heavy sigh.
"I can't believe I lost..."
"Don't worry about whether if you lost or not," Brock said. "The important thing is what you learned from the battle. You learn your own weaknesses and from that, you and your pokémon can grow stronger as a team. Trust me; me and my pokémon didn't get strong overnight. It took a lot of hard work." Brock kept a friendly smile on his face. The trainer thought about what he said for a moment and it seemed to lift his spirits a little.
"I guess we still have some work to do. I'll be back for a rematch one day."
"I'll be here waiting for you." On that note, the trainer walked out the gym with his head held high and Brock recalled his onix back in its ball. The kid acting as referee ran over to Brock.
"That was some awesome battling, bro," he said. "The way you turned things over with onix was really something."
"Thanks, but I think he'll give me a run for my money on the rematch." Brock looked toward the stands where Chris and the others were still sitting. "Hey, are any of you looking to challenge the gym?" Once again, Chris and Tora were the first to their feet and already dashing toward the gym leader.
"Yeah, I'm here to challenge the gym," Chris said once he was in front of Brock. "Honestly speaking, this is our first gym challenge and it's got us kind of nervous and excited at the same time."
"Us?"
"Yeah, me and my partner, Tora," he said gesturing to the raichu at his side. Brock looked down at the raichu and smirked.
"Your raichu looks pretty strong. I can tell by the way her fur is shining that you've been taking good care of her."
"Thanks. She's my best friend in the world."
"That's good to hear. It's nice to see young trainers so close to their pokémon. I'd take you up on your offer, but I'm already expecting someone else to come in and have a bunch of other things that need my immediate attention. However, we can have our battle tomorrow, if that's okay with you."
"That's cool. That gives us more time to train so we can beat you and earn our first badge," he said enthusiastically. Brock just laughed at him.
"If you keep up that attitude in our battle, I'm sure you'll do just that. Just don't let that confidence go to your head. As you've just seen, I'm no pushover."
"Don't worry; my confidence is gonna take me and my team to the top. I'll be back tomorrow. Let's go, Tora. We've got some training to do."
"Some?" she asked. "It's going to take a lot more than 'some' training for us to take on that onix."
"Ah, don't be such a baby. I'll come up with something."
"You better come up with something good, because you're not the one out there getting your butt kicked."
"Don't be like that. I'll make sure you guys don't get too beaten up." Before Brock could comment on what just happened, Chris and Tora were already running across the rocky battlefield with Aaron, Alice, and April following behind.
After going to the pokémon center to heal up their pokémon, Chris and Alice went to the outskirts of the city to train. He had informed her of tomorrow's match and she was happy to train with him while he prepares for it. Since the gym was using rock/ground type, it was obvious that in order to have a chance at winning, he needed to train Kaden and Lani since their attacks would do the most damage against them. That doesn't mean Tora was going to be left out. She meant it when she said that Aaron was going to help her train and there was no way he could talk himself out of it. The group found a nice open field with plenty of room to do what they wanted to do. The rest of the pokémon were let out of their balls. It wasn't long before Jari was ready to pick a fight again, this time with Fang. Thankfully, Alice and Kaden were able to calm him down before things got out of hand.
"So how are you going to do this?" Alice asked Chris, who was slightly unsure himself.
"I don't know. We could do some strength training with Lani to power up her moves, but Kaden needs to work on his speed too. I know he can take some hits, but I don't want him taking damage when he can avoid it. I could just have them fight each other, since they both have what the other is lacking."
"Not too bad of a plan. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you've done this before." They both shared a quick laugh at that. "Well, since you know what you're doing, how do you suppose I deal with him?" she asked pointing to Jari, who was now having it out with Kishan. Chris sighed and looked around for the blue beetle, whom he spotted sniffing some flowers.
"Kaden, can you take care of Jari real quick and come over here?"
"Sure thing," he said before heading off to handle the situation.
"Thanks." Looking around again, he spotted Lani, Tora, and Aaron chatting in a circle. For some reason, Aaron looked really uneasy as Tora was talking to him. He made a note to ask about that later. "Lani, come here for a sec." The pink dragon broke away from the couple and slithered her way over to him.
"Hi Chris," she greeted cheerfully. "Whatcha need?"
"You, my little dragon friend, and Kaden are going to be training buddies today."
"We are? What for?"
"Well, you two are going to be taking on the gym leader here tomorrow and I'm going to need you both in tip-top shape."
"A gym battle? Awesome! So, what do I need to work on?"
"I'll tell you when Kaden comes back." Once Kaden resolved the issue with Jari, he came back and Chris informed him and Lani on everything that he wanted them to work on. With that out of the way, everyone was ready to get started. Kaden and Lani took their places ten yards from each other, ready to go to work. "Remember Lani; I want you to hit him as hard as you can with your Aqua tail and make him fall. Kaden, I want you to dodge as many of her attacks as possible."
"Right," both of them said together. Lani made the first move with her Aqua tail and leaped at the blue beetle. Instead of taking the hit like he normally would, Kaden side-stepped her at the last moment. The resulting impact from her attack sent bits of grass and dirt flying up. He attempted to counter-attack with Brick break, but the dragon had already moved out of the way for a counter of her own. She attacked much closer than last time and scored a hit on the bug. Kaden didn't think too much of it, but that wasn't what the training was for. He was to avoid getting hit at all. Having seen Kaden shrug off her attack like it was nothing made Lani feel somewhat weak. The first exchange of blows made them realize how difficult the task at hand was going to be and they shared one thought. "This might be harder than I thought."
Alicehad already started training her team. She paired up Kishan and Jari with each other to let them settle whatever beef they had with each other. Fang and April were put on the sidelines for now to watch them duke it out. Kishan started off with a Water gun just to end the fight as quickly as possible. Jari held up his weapon in front of himself, holding both ends firmly, and managed to actually part the incoming stream of water into two. This defensive move managed to surprise everyone. Kishan stopped his attack and growled a little while Jari spun his bone dry looking as cocky as ever.
"What's wrong, turtle boy? I thought you wanted to attack me, not wash my weapon for me," he said smugly.
"You cocky little bastard," Kishan growled. "Don't think that just because you got lucky, you're going to win."
"Luck? There's no such thing as luck when it comes to me. Luck, to me, is just a rotten apple that's fallen off the tree of uselessness into a sea of things unrelated to me."
"That doesn't make any sense!"
"It doesn't have to when you're as awesome as I am."
"That's it! I'm taking you down!"
"Keep your cool, Kishan," Alice said. She knew that he gets somewhat reckless if he gets upset in the middle of battle and could possibly end up hurting the brown dinosaur really bad. If things did get out of had, she could have April give him a little shock to snap him out of it.
Meanwhile, Tora and Aaron were getting ready for their own training session. They stood about a good twelve yards from each other. "Aaron, this is the last time I'm going to tell you," Tora began. "I want you to help me get stronger and to do that I need you to attack me. Remember what I promised you?"
"Yeah, I remember," Aaron replied. "I just don't want to-"
"Hurt me, I know. I'm sure I can take whatever you can throw at me." Aaron's ears perked up at her comment
"What do you mean by that?"
"Nothing, just that I think I'll take you out before you decide to actually fight back."
"Really? I can tell you right now that that's not going to happen."
"Which part; me kicking your butt, or you fighting back because I'm kicking your butt?"
"You wouldn't." Tora got down on all fours and started charging up her electricity.
"I would. You better dodge this cuz it's coming right at you."
"You're not gonna- Whoa!" Aaron's eyes went wide as he narrowly dodged a thunderbolt aimed right at him.
"Aaron, sweetie," She said with deceptively sweet smile. "If you don't get it in gear, you'll be in for a long day and you won't get what I promised you." She sent two more bolts his way, which he dodged rather gracefully.
"I guess I should get started then," Aaron thought as he got into a wider stance. "Besides, the reward is too sweet to pass up." He charged up a purplish ball of energy in his mouth and fired it at her. He only used a small portion of his power to gauge how much he should really hold back. Tora managed to dodge the Shadow ball, but the explosion from it hitting the ground near her was really strong. She almost had to grip the grass to keep from being pushed aside. Tora gave the espeon a funny look. "If it makes you feel any better, though I'm sure it won't, I'm holding back quite a bit."
"How much were you holding back?"
"That was roughly twenty percent of my power."
"T-twen...No way... You're bluffing."
"Am I?" Aaron had a very big grin on his face, which made the raichu a bit curious to see if he really was. "If you want, I can hit you with everything I have... But you'll be seriously hurt if I do that and none of us want that to happen. How about we work on strengthening your physical attacks for today? Try and break through my defense." The chu didn't think that things would turn out this way so soon. She figured that she would've had a little more fun with him before the real training starts.
"I guess we can do that," she said as she powered her Iron tail. Aaron surrounded himself with a fairly weak psychic barrier that was just strong enough for Tora to break if she tried hard enough. "Thank you, Aaron."
"No problem, Tora."
*****8*****
The training went on for a little more than an hour. It was almost noon and it was getting pretty warm out. The grassy field was turned into a war zone with everything they've done. In that time, Chris saw major improvement in both Kaden and Lani. Kaden, for the most part, has dodged and countered the dragons' attacks. With Lani constantly using her tail, or the lower half of her body, she's now able to knock Kaden over with only two consecutive hits, which was a major improvement from when they started. As for Tora, she managed to break three of Aaron's barriers, each a little stronger than the last. Although, there wasn't much of a difference in power, it was still progress. All three pokémon were both tired and satisfied with the amount of hard work they put in. Alice's pokémon were just as tired as they were, especially Jari. He's been knocked around by Kishan's water attacks and wore himself out trying to hit anything else but his tough shell. Their fight lasted longer than it should have, only because Kishan was told to draw it out so that he could get some experience battling water types.
"That was some great training guys," Chris said, feeling very proud of his team. "Now I'm sure we'll be able to beat Brock and wane our first badge."
"Did you doubt us?" Lani asked as she caught her breath.
"Not for a second. You could say that this was a 'just in case' training session."
"Whatever you call it, I like the results. I've never felt so light on my feet," Kaden commented.
"Glad to hear it. Alice, how about we head back to the pokémon center to rest up?"
"Sure. Sounds good to me," she said. Chris looked around and found Tora sprawled out on the grass with Aaron sitting next to her.
"You two okay over there?"
"Yeah, we're fine," Aaron replied. "She's just a little winded."
"Can you teleport us back to the pokémon center?"
"No problem. Is everyone ready?" Chris and Alice recalled everyone back into their balls before Aaron teleported them in the lobby of the Pokémon center. There were quite a few trainers inside compared to earlier that day. The two immediately went up to the front desk and asked Nurse Joy to heal their pokémon. After saying goodbye to Tora, Chris was left with Aaron, Alice, and April to spend time with until they came back.
"So, Chris, you wanna take a tour around the city while our pokémon heal up?" Alice asked, since there was nothing better to do. "When we're done, we can come back and take everyone out for lunch." Chris shrugged his shoulders and agreed to the tour. It would be better than what he could come up with at the moment. Aaron approached April with a friendly smile.
"Hi, April," he greeted. The sheep nervously fiddled with her paws and looked at the ground.
"... H-hello..." she answered. The espeon took note of her uneasiness and tried to keep his distance so that he doesn't scare her.
"So, we haven't really talked to each other since we've meet and I'd like to get to know you, since we'll be traveling together for a while"
"... Okay... Um, y-you're..."
"It's Aaron. You don't mind talking with me do you?"
"N-no, it's fine..."
"Alright then," he said cheerfully. "Let's get going before they decide to leave us behind." The two followed Chris and Alice out the center and began exploring the city.
There were plenty of things to see in Pewter City. With Alice leading the way, she showed them all the best shops to go for their money's worth and every restaurant the served pokémon. Most of the restaurants had an outdoor area for the larger pokémon to eat comfortably. The shops had a variety of pokémon treats and clothes, but also had a wide selection of beautiful stones, honoring what the city's known for. They took a quick rest at a park that was in the middle of the city. During that time, Aaron talked to the shy sheep as much as he could. Although she's gotten more comfortable around him since they left the center, he was still getting delayed responses and one-word answers. When he asked about her nervousness, she couldn't come up with an answer. The psychic didn't mind her not answering, he didn't really expect one.
Back at the pokémon center, Tora was being looked over by Nurse Joy while the rest of the pokémon were being healed by a machine. Right now, she was being checked for any bruises or any other physical damage. "Well, it looks like the only thing you've succumbed to be exhaustion," Nurse Joy said with her trademark smile. "A little rest and you'll be all better." She went over to a mini-fridge, grabbed two sitrus berries from inside, and gave them to the young Chu to help speed along the recovery process. Tora was starting to feel a little hungry anyway and thought of it as a snack before lunch. "Now be a good girl and don't go anywhere while I'm gone." Tora nodded and waved goodbye to the kind nurse.
Now that her check-up was done and she was alone, the chu thought about her promise to her psychic boyfriend. She had promised him that if he helped her train, she's do him one favor for him in return as long as it's not anything outrageous. A blank check if you will. She wondered what he would ask of her and had already thought up of nearly everything he could possibly think of that would be a fair trade for today. She sort of wished that he'd stuck around to keep her company. As her mind began to wonder, the door opened again to show that Joy had returned, but she was not alone. A tall man dressed in dark blue jeans and a yellow shirt walked in behind her. A weavile followed right behind him. It gave her a look that made shivers go done her spine, and not the good kind. The dark type hopped onto the table as instructed by the nurse and allowed her to look over it.
"Excuse me, Nurse Joy, but the trainer that dropped off that raichu, does he happen to have a dratini as well?" the man asked, which made Joy and Tora give him a funny look.
"I'm sorry, sir, but I'm not allowed to disclose that information to anyone," Joy responded.
"I know, it's just that he stole that pokémon from me and I was wondering if he brought it here to be healed." Tora's jaw almost dropped and she was getting a little scared at this point.
"Has this guy been following us?" she thought. "Why is he saying that stuff?"
"What proof do you have that this trainer stole from you? That's a very serious accusation and I don't play games when it comes to pokémon," Joy said sternly.
"I know you don't, which is why I have brought proof of that claim." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small photograph. "This is a picture I took of us a few days ago with my other pokémon. Joy took the picture and inspected it. Tora quickly made her way over and snatched the pictured from her. She was shocked at what she was seeing. As he said, there was a pink dratini with him, his weavile, and few other pokémon as well. It even had the date printed in the top-right corner.
"Hey, that's no way to behave," Joy scolded as she took the picture back. "Well, sir, it seems that you're telling the truth. I'll be sure to notify the authorities as soon as he comes back."
"Oh, there's no need for that. I just want my pokémon back. I don't want the kid to get in trouble."
"Kid or not, he stole someone else's pokémon and I won't tolerate it. He's going to have to deal with the consequences of his actions." The man shrugged his shoulders in defeat, seeing as he can't change her mind on the subject. Tora tried to tell her that he was lying, but she was just shooed away and told to sit back down. The chu was in a panic as to what to do. She couldn't run out with Lani's ball because that would look suspicious, but she couldn't leave her and the others alone either. If Chris came back, then he would get into some real trouble. He would most likely get his license stripped and have to surrender all his pokémon to the police. That thought was scarring more and more by the second. Now she really wished that Aaron was here so that he could straighten this whole mess out..

In a mansion south of Celedan City, Chad was just waking up from the previous nights events. He sat up and discovered that he was naked in his bed. He also found that there was a naked, blond-haired woman and one of his zangoose with him as well. The matted fur between her legs already told him what happened. That wasn't what surprised him. What did surprise him was that he didn't wake up with another guy on the floor somewhere or something in his rear. Let's just say that it wasn't the first time he's been drugged. As he pulled his legs over the bed, his head started pounding.
"Ah, fuck, this is gonna be a killer," he groaned. He looked over to the woman and pushed her a couple times. "Hey, get your stuff and get out." She groaned and turned away from him.
"Sod off, guy. I'll sleep however long I want."
"Fuck you too, bitch. Now get up and get the fuck out!" The sudden shouting woke up the sleeping zangoose and she started growling at the woman. The woman huffed and angrily got out of the bed to put on her clothes.
"Whatever. The sex wasn't that good anyway." As she left the room, Chad noticed a little wobble in her step, to which he couldn't help but grin.
"The Hell it was," he thought. "Too bad I can't remember what happened." He got up and stretched his arms before looking back over at his pokémon, who was busy grooming her fur. "Tilly, go get cleaned up in the shower." The white cat stopped her grooming and made her way into the bathroom.
Wanting to get rid of his massive headache, Chad got up, pulled on a pair of boxers from the floor, and walked out his room. The hallway was trashed with empty plastic cups, beer cans, liquor bottles, napkins, and whatever other trash was left over. A flygon was in the middle of the hallway picking everything up and putting it in a large trash can. It glanced at him as he passed by with a sullen look on its face.
"Fly flygon," the green dragon greeted with a slight buzz of its wings.
"Hey yourself," he responded with a sigh. He turned right and went downstairs, which was even more of a mess than the hallway. Any of his pokémon that were bipedal, psychic, had claws/vines, or didn't pick up anything with their mouths, was assisting in the cleaning process of the mansion. He didn't bother talking to them and just went straight to the kitchen. Luckily, there was still coffee already made from the previous day. He poured himself a cup and heated it up in the microwave. The smell of it lessened some of the pressure in his head. Out the corner of his eye, he saw a thin, white and green figure standing along the wall. "Want to fill me in on what happened last night?" he asked.
"As you may already know, you were injected with a drug on your way to the beverage table," Cosmo replied. "We managed to capture the one who did it. He's tied up in the basement. Afterwards, you had a few conversations with Lou-"
"What about?"
"You... Talked about us; actually, more about Miu and her children than anyone else. Once you went to your room with that woman and Tilly, he got his alakazam to temporarily put everyone to sleep. I managed to stay awake and tried to stop him from taking her son, Skylar, but-" At this, Chad swore and threw his coffee cup on the floor, shattering it and making a mess on the floor. He was beyond pissed by now; and throwing his coffee wasn't helping his headache any. Both of his dragon partners' children were gone now and it was his fault. The only upside to this situation was that he knew where at least one of her children were. A thought suddenly struck him.
"Where's Miu?" The psychic looked at the floor and was hesitant to answer, but Chad was having none of it. He marched straight toward her and slammed his hands against the wall on both sides of her, making her jump in terror. "Where is she?!"
"S-she left to go search for them. She told me not to tell you, but-" Chad suddenly turned and quickly walked out the room. "Where are you going?"
"To look for my dragons," he replied before turning the corner. This was his third strike with her, and the fact that she took off without letting him know was proof enough that she was beyond being reasoned with. Chad stormed down the hallway on the east side of the mansion and found the stairs leading to the basement. He flicked on the stair lights and slammed the door as he went down the steps. He could hear some faint muffling coming from the room to the right at the bottom.
There were actually two basements under the mansion, but they were on the same floor and divided by foot-long, concrete walls. The basement on the west side was for entertainment purposes. It was fully furnished and was equipped with a large television, a stereo system with surround sound, game consoles, and a fridge with many kinds of adult beverages. The east side was reserved only for business and was not as furnished as the other side. The main was only had a long table with six chairs on either side and one at the head. There was a small projector sitting in the middle of the table. This room was rarely used for meetings with his employer. The room he was going in was a storage for various items and tools, more specifically, construction tools.
Chad opened the door and saw a man tied up to a chair, gagged, and blindfolded in the middle of the room. There was a large plastic tarp underneath him. The man apparently heard him come in and jerked his head toward him. Chad closed the door and made sure it was locked. He then went over and snatched the blindfold off the man. The man seemed to be in his early thirties and was dressed in blue jeans and a white dress shirt. He was pretty muscular and could most likely put up a decent fight against Chad if he weren't tied up. He yelled something through his gag; most likely swears and insults, but Chad didn't bother acknowledging it and went over to a shelf. There, he picked up a large nail gun, a hammer, a rubber mallet, a kettle, and a pack of toothpicks. He plugged in the kettle and the nail gun into a nearby extension cord and set the rest of the items about three feet in front of his prisoner.
He sighed and removed the gag. Immediately, the man started shouting. "What the hell, man?! Get me out of this chair! Do you have any idea who I am?!"
"You're asking me like I'm supposed to care," Chad replied coldly. "The only thing I need to know about you is that you were the guy who drugged me last night. Because of that simple fact, I assume that you know where he took my pokémon, right? I know that he keeps them pretty close together." The man stayed silent and continued to glare at Chad. "I'll take that silence as a 'yes'. Now, I don't have a whole lot of time here," he said as he picked up the nail gun. "Which means that I don't have a lot of patience. Tell me where my dragon is and you can walk out of here unharmed."
"Fuck you, ya skinny-" He didn't get to say any more before Chad fired a four-inch nail into his foot, causing him to scream in pain. A small amount of blood was slowly pooling on the inside and under his shoe.
"That was a warning shot. Wanna try that one again?"
"Are you a fucking psycho?!"
"Psycho? No, I'm a guy who's done taking shit from you people."

End notes: You know what? I might make the next chapter a little dark. Seems a little too good to pass up with this kind of set up. I'll have to think about it...
