Division 42, Ch. 3: Preparations

I was still crying when I felt DJ come up into bed with me. As soon as I felt his fur, I reached out and held him close, never letting go. He returned the embrace and soon we both fell asleep, hold each other for comfort.

As soon as I closed my eyes, I started dreaming. And, boy, was it weird.

***

I was waking up, my eyes blurry from the amount of sleep I had. When my eyes adjusted, I looked around a pure white room. I tried to get up, but I felt restrained. I saw that my arms and legs were chained to the hospital bed that I was in. I forced the chains to break, but to no avail. I was too weak to break them.

I saw to my left and right surgical equipment, hoping against hope that it wasn't for me. That's when I heard a door open and whirled my head around to see the bastard that captured me against my will.

He was tall, had a tie, lab coat, and glasses. He looked like a normal human, but when I looked in his eyes, I saw the most sadistic look that chilled me to the bone.

He walked over and said, "Oh, good! You're awake. Now, before we begin, I would like to take this opportunity to explain why you're here and what we plan to do to you. You see, our group wants to study and understand everything there is in our universe, then, when we fully understand, we will plan universal conquest and control this universe. Once that's done, we will move onto the next, and the next, and the next, never stopping until everyone is under our control. As to why you're here, you're going to help us by leading a group to attack the only person in this universe able to stop us. Yes, we know of him, but we could never get close. That is, until now. Now, hold still," he said as he was taking a rather large saw in his hands, smiling that demented smile, "this won't hurt a bit."

I regained my strength and broke through the chains binding my right hand. I then decked the demented doctor and freed my other limbs. Opening the door, I was now in a dimly lit hallway. I ran down, looking for a way out. I ran, turning left and right, looking for any indication of escape.

I heard footsteps and shouting. I knew that they were looking for me. I looked for something that'll help me disappear in a flash. I looked and saw a ventilation shaft. I opened it and climbed through. I crawled around, looking for a room that wasn't occupied. I looked down and saw what looked like a break room, seeing no one. I dropped down, ignoring the clatter the vent made as it dropped down to the tile floor. When I recovered, the door opened and three guards came through, holding their rifles up to my chest. Before they fired, I dashed up to them and began to kick and punch at their bodies, knocking them out cold.

I ran until I saw an exit sign. Opening the door, I saw stairs leading up to the unknown. I heard guards clambering behind me. I had no choice but to climb. As I was climbing up the stairs, I heard the guards starting their ascent up to catch me. Pouring on the speed, I took to the stairs four at a time, my long legs pumping to make sure that I would escape this hellhole.

When I busted through the top door, I was surprised that I had a welcoming committee already waiting for me. Guards surrounding me, closing off my chance of escape. I saw that one of them wasn't dressed in a guard uniform. He was dressed in a black suit, black dress shirt, red tie, and black shoes. His hair was jet black, greased and combed back. His eyes looked so black and menacing, so full of hate and pure evil, that I avoided looking at him for however long I could.

He walked forward, his footsteps click-clacking on the floor. He walked right up to me, with a smile on his face that make me wanna puke. He said, "Oh, Rena, how nice to see you awake and walking about. I do hope we haven't harmed you. "

He then put his hand on my cheek and I instantly pulled away, his touch sending cold shivers down my spine. I couldn't take it anymore. I wanted to get away from him. I wanted to-

I was cut off of my train of thought when he forcibly took my face with his hand and made me look at him, his smile still present.

"Oh, Rena, please don't be mad. I only want what's best for you. You see, I had a dream. A dream of peace throughout the universe. I was told that I would be the one to bring said peace. So, I planned for all of this, only with peace in mind."

"But," I said, "you destroyed everything at my home. My friends are worried sick about me. Please, let me go. I promise I won't reveal this to anyone."

"On, Rena," the man laughed, "you're so funny. That's why I chose you. You're beautiful, smart, funny, and so loving. That's why you'll be my bride. We'll live together in this peaceful world that I'll create. And it's all for you, my love. But, if you refuse, I'll make sure you suffer a fate most horrible, you'll be wishing for a swift death."

I was shocked. This madman, who destroyed my home, tried to kill my friends, my Chris, was now saying that it was all for me, that I was to marry him and if I didn't... I didn't want to even think about it. I pulled away, trying to escape this nightmare, but he held his grip on me.

"Oh, before I forget," the man said, now looking in my eyes, "I know you're there, Chris. Please know that I will take good care of her. Don't come here, or you'll know what'll happen, don't you?"

With that, the dream started to fade. Before it was gone, I heard Rena say, "Chris, please rescue me. Chris.... I.... I-"

That's when the alarm rang out and the dream disappeared.

***

I heard the alarm clock ring out. I jolted awake, sitting straight up. DJ was still by my side, now fully awake too. I looked at him and he looked at me, both of us nodding in understanding.

We both had the same dream.

I got up, still in the Spartan armor that I had worn yesterday, and ran out the door. I stopped, seeing the Hub back to the way it was, everything new and in working order.

"Zeta?" I asked, hoping for a response.

"Yes, Chris?" Zeta responded, the weight on my heart lifting a bit.

"Oh good, you're back online. Who fixed the Hub?"

"I did. I go offline whenever intruders are in the facility, to protect myself. Where's Rena? I only sense you and DJ. Where is she?"

I looked down, still sad of the events that took place. DJ answered her for me, "She's been taken by the intruders. She's being held captive by a madman and being forced to marry her."

"Oh, Chris! I'm sorry. I know how special she was to you. Please bring her back."

I didn't know what to do. I was conflicted. I wanted to go and save her, but if I did she would die. After seeing that dream, she would die either way. I had to talk to someone about this.

"Zeta, what did you do about those animals that we saved yesterday?"

"Oh, I put them back in town and someone is taking care of them."

"Show me where they are. I need to talk to someone."

***

DJ and I walked through the town, trying to find the hospital that Zeta told us about. We saw it and made a rush for it. Once inside, we talked to nurses and attendants until we found who we were looking for.

Inside the room was an anthropomorphic cheetah, resting in a hospital bed, covered in bandages and asleep. I moved closer, hoping not to wake him, when I heard him speak, "I know you're there."

He got up and looked even worse. His head was wrapped in gauze, his body covered in scratches, even one of his arms was in a cast. Whatever happened to him, he put up some hell of a fight.

I moved closer, grabbing a chair and sitting close to the bed with DJ standing behind me. I was about to say how sorry I was and how it was my fault and apologize, but he beat me to the punch.

"Don't worry. No one's mad. Especially me. No one can blame you for what happened. Especially with what happened to Rena. What are you gonna do about it?"

"Honestly, I don't know," I said, "I want to go and save her, but I'm scared of what they'll do to her. I mean, I saw what they were about to do to her and I'm scared for her and-"

I was slapped by a furry paw. I turned and saw that the cheetah still had his hand raised. I was silent.

"Sorry," he said, putting his hand down, "you were being hysterical. But I understand how you feel. Listen, I'm going to tell you something that I have never told anyone."

I was curious at what he had to say, so I was silent as he spoke.

"Growing up, I was sold as a slave to a very sadistic skunk. During the day, she would make us work in the 20 acre field that she owned, tending the deadly plants and using us for back-breaking manual labor. At night, when work was done, she would choose one of us for a "night game", where she took one of us and submitted us to horrible, painful and humiliating games. When one of my closest friends was chosen, I had to stand still and watch while she did whatever she could to make my friend scream. She whipped him, beat him, stabbed him, burned him, and he was screaming, begging her to stop. She pulled out a sword and made to kill him so she could get a response from me, but I wouldn't let her. I ran as fast as I could to save him, but she was quicker. She made a slice at me and it connected, cutting through skin and muscle, leaving a huge gash in my side, blood spilling out. She motioned for someone to collect me while I looked at my friend. He said a silent thank you as I was carried out of the room, taken outside and casted into the river to drown."

I was about to reach my hand out to comfort him, but he put his hand up to cut me off. I put my hand back, listening to what happened next.

"I really thought I was going to die, so I let myself fall into a deep sleep, to slow down the bleeding. I was drifting down the river when I felt someone pick me up and drag me out of the river. I felt a tingling sensation at my side and the pain went away. I could finally sleep in peace. I woke up and saw who saved me. It was a lion, big and strong. I went up and asked him how he saved me. He said magic and produced an earring for me. It was in the shape of an eye and as he gave it to me, I looked like a tiger's eye. As I put it on, I felt the same tingling sensation I felt the night before, but all throughout my body. He looked at me and smiled, saying that I was now ready to learn magic.

"After a few months of training, I was ready for the world. I left my master, in search of that damned place that my friend was being held in. He was the only one who would cheer me up when I felt down, which was always. He was kind, funny, and handsome. I remembered the way there and hid because everyone thought I was dead. When night came, I looked around and found him, again being subjected to the "night games" by that skunk. I rushed in, pouring on the speed, and knocked the whip out of her hands. I went to untie him and left before she came to her senses. I ran, I kept running until I found a place to hide and stopped. I did whatever I could to stop the bleeding, but only time could tell.

"After I used magic to stop the wounds, he still looked horrible. I was heartbroken, but I heard him say something. I leaned in, hoping he would repeat it so that I could understand him. What he spoke next made me break down and cry.

"He said, 'Don't be too hard on yourself. What you did was right. I guess I wasn't strong enough. Just remember, I.... will.... always... love you....'

"I cried, saying things like "Don't leave me!" and "I love you, too!", but it fell on deaf ears. He was dead."

I reached up again, offering my hand for comfort. He didn't raise his had to object and let me put my hand on his shoulder.

"I broke down and cried. I have never loved anyone like I loved him before. He went out of his way to make me happy, and I... I...."

He cried, sobbing against my chest, remembering the horrible time of his friend's... his lover's death. I could only sit there and stroke him, comforting him.

"He.... He was my only friend.... My first true love.... He's gone, but you have a chance to make things right. You have to save her in time and.... and...."

It was my turn to silence him. But, instead of a slap, I put my finger to his lips to shush him.

"I promise that I will get her back. Thank you for making my decision."

I got up, hugged him and hoped that he would feel better, and ran out, heading to the Pokémon room. I was going to need some help...

***

I looked everywhere, searching for any sign of the legendary Pokémon that helped yesterday. Me and DJ split up to cover more ground, keeping in constant contact with each other through our link, which I conveniently found out just now.

I was searching the mountains, hoping that they were here, when a storm cloud appeared over me. It was sudden, not seeing it anywhere else and this being a gigantic room, I was sure that this sudden weather didn't happen.

Suddenly, lightning struck down near me, causing a sonic boom so strong that it sent me back, hitting the wall upon impact. I was sore all over, silently thanking myself for still wearing the armor before entering here. I went to the crater that the huge bolt of lightning made and was amazed at what I saw. Kneeling in the crater was one of the newest legendary Pokémon from the newest Pokémon game, his pure black form blending in with the shadow that the crater made. All that I could see were the blood red eyes that instantly made me knew who he was. It was Zekrom, the Deep Black Pokémon.

He stood up from his kneeling position and I saw that he was around my height and had five fingers, but those were the only differences I saw. Everything else was what I remembered. His black wings, his huge generator tail, everything was there.

While I was admiring him, he looked at me and flew up. I took a few steps back and he landed in front of me.

"Hello, Chris. I have been watching you for a long time," he said, with a smile and his arms crossed.

"You... You can talk," was all I could say, still freaked out of Zekrom appearing before me.

"Yes, I had to take a more.... human appearance for you. Now, let's go save Rena."

"Wait, why do you care about Rena? Why do you care about me, for that matter?" I demanded.

"Because Chris, I am you."

I was about to say something but was cut off.

"Now, now, don't get the wrong idea. I mean to say that I'm a part of you. The Pokémon that's inside you, needing to break free. And today's that day. I'm here to help you in getting Rena back and to guard you until the time comes."

"Wait, what time?" I asked, confused.

"Later, someone's coming." He stood in front of me, spreading his arms out to protect me. I was worried as to who it was, before I heard his voice.

"Hey, Chris. Is that you?" DJ and the rest of the legendary Pokémon came bursting through the jungle when they saw Zekrom and stopped dead in their tracks.

The legendary Pokémon bowed their heads in respect, but Zekrom just waved it off. DJ came closer and asked, shaking with fear, "Chris, why is Zekrom here?"

I looked and saw that everyone was like DJ, shaking with fear at what would happen. I laughed and said, "There's no need to fear. He's with me."

Everyone was still wary of him, but seemed to relax at my word. They looked expectantly at me, hoping for a plan that will save Rena. The only problem was that I had no idea where she was. That's when I remembered something about Lucarios that might help in this situation.

"DJ, how exactly did you find me?" I asked.

"Well, I followed your aura. I can track it pretty easily since I know what your aura looks like," he said.

"Great," I said, noticing DJ blushing at the praise, "can you sense Rena's aura?"

"Yes, since I been with her and know what her aura is."

An idea of how to find her was forming. I quickly ran the details to everyone, then ran out to the Hall of Items to grab a couple of things. When I came out, everyone looked at me.

"When do we leave?" Zekrom asked.

"Tonight," I said, "everyone grab anything that could be useful while I check on a friend."

With that I ran out, hoping he's still in the hospital....

***

I found him in his room at the hospital, about to leave. He turned and saw me there and I stepped into the room and locked the door.

"Chris, what-what are you doing here?" he asked, confused as to why I would lock the door.

"Listen," I said, cutting him off, "do you wanna have a chance to redeem yourself? Do you wanna save Rena with me?"

He smiled and put his hand on my shoulder. "Gladly."

I grabbed his hand and ran to the open window, rushing out with the cheetah in tow. We were falling and I pulled out my jetpack and hit the ignition. It slowed our descent just enough for us to land softly, then dash to the woods to make it to the door.

As soon as we were inside, I took some clothes from a pile and shove it into him. "Change into these, we need to blend in."

Not really understanding, he changed. I turned around to give him privacy and to go over the plan again in my head. First, use Lucario to get to where the bad guys are holding them, then go through and find Rena and get out. To make sure this never happens again, I have something special planned for the lot of them.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and turn, the cheetah changing into the black camo pants and a black shirt with a black beret on his head. He also wore the watch I thought up for him.

"Nice, uh, sorry - what's your name?" I asked, holding out my hand for a shake.

"It's Dash, Dasher Cheetah, " he said, returning the shake.

"Alright, Dash, welcome to the team," I said, introducing Dash to the team standing behind me. As he looked down the line, going through everyone, his eyes stopped at Mew. He looked at her and she looked at him and, from what I could tell, I think it was a love at first sight deal.

"Dash, you alright?" I asked, waving and snapping in front of his face. He snapped out and looked embarrassed, blushing at what happened. He looked at Mew on last time and saw that she winked seductively back at him before turning her full attention back at me.

"Alright," I said, "the plan is to use DJ to locate Rena, go in, take her, and get out. But not before we leave with a bang."

"And how do we manage that?" asked Dash.

"With this," I said, holding up a duffel bag, holding a bomb the size of a small missile.

"Okay, one question. How do we get there?" Dash asked.

He got me there. I was stumped. Then, I remember the car garage that Crystal told me about. I asked Zeta about it and she opened a door leading into the garage. I saw lots of cars there, but one stood out among the rest. I ran to it, the keys in the ignition, turned it and it flared to life. I told DJ and Dash to climb in and everyone else to fly after me. DJ was in the front and Dash in the back. We started down the road, with me grinning ear to ear at my secret weapon.

"Guys," I said, grabbing everyone's attention, "meet Bumblebee."

"Charmed, I'm sure," was the response from the radio.

"Whoa, who's that?" Dash asked, backing away to his seat.

"Our secret weapon," I said, still grinning.

Soon, DJ was meditating and started pointing down a deserted road. I turned onto it, everyone else flying after me.

"Hold on, Rena," I said, "I'm coming..."

All right! Chris made up his mind and has powerful allies to help him. But, does he have enough to get the girl? Find out in Ch. 4: The Rescue.

Finally, done. Guess I better take this time to say: All characters are owned by their respective owners. Please ask for permission.

Also: special thanks to Dasher Cheetah for letting me use his character. Thanks, Dash! Hope I did justice!

Also: I'm thinking of doing another story. Something different from Division 42. I wanna run it by you guys first and see if I should do it.

Premise: A college kid gets sucked into another world, filled with furries, monsters, and magic. He is the only one to set things right. With his trusty keychain, iPod, and backpack, he and his friends fight against the forces of evil and get home.

If this intrigues you, PM me and I'll fully explain myself better. Just wanna write other things.

Rate, fav, and comment. I loves ya.

Division 42, Ch. 2: Fight I was sleeping soundly, dreaming of all the things that'll happen to me in the days to come. All of a sudden, the lights came on and immediately caused discomfort to me. "Come on, Chris," I heard Zeta said, "Time to...
