Ch.9 The Encounter.

Kyo woke up early and could sense that his wolf was sleeping better than what he probably had the previous night. The human smiled to himself while he shifted closer and was rewarded by Icewaver shifting in his sleep and tightening his grip a bit tighter. The human nuzzled the wolf's arm as he lay in the bed till his wolf woke up.

Later in the morning Icewaver slowly shifted a little in the bed before he opened his eyes, the sight of his human laying so close to him made the wolf so happy. Icewaver leaned forward and nuzzled the back of his pup's neck, the Kyo slowly rolled over with a big smile on his face to receive the same smile from his wolf.

"You been awake for a while I take it." The wolf whispered as he reached up and rubbed the side of Kyo's cheek.

Kyo moved closer so that his head was resting against the wolf's chest. "Just a little."

"Why didn't you wake me?" The wolf giggled.

"I wanted you to get your sleep." Kyo whispered back.

Icewaver licked the side of his human's cheek. "Aww, but we could have gone and done something."

"So I guess you're feeling better than."

Icewaver's ears flatten down a bit. "I'm still saddened about mother's death but now I know she is with Luna I am happy for her and I know that I'll meet her again."

Kyo smiled up at his wolf. "So what you want to do for the day?"

Icewaver grinned "Oh I have a little surprise for you."

Kyo gave the wolf a scared look. "Why do I have a bad feeling about this?"

The wolf let out a small chuckle. "I wouldn't be."

Kyo let out a small chuckle. "If you say so master." The human leaned in and kissed his wolf on the lips before sitting up and crawling out of the bed with his wolf not too far behind him. They both dressed and made their way down to see if the slaves had put the food away yet, to their luck they haven't so they both sat down and ate the food that was brought out to them.

When done they both got up and walked out to the hall where Galle was waiting for them. "Father." Icewaver said, as he approached the big wolf.

"Alpha." Kyo bowed. Galle looked at Kyo and gave him a small smile.

"I have something for you." The big wolf spoke softly, pain and sadness could still be heard in his voice even though his facial expression told different. He started to walk down a hall with Kyo and Icewaver close behind.

He lead them to a room that happened to be their armory, Galle pushed the door open but stood to the side so that Kyo could walk past him. Kyo looked up at Icewaver confused, the wolf just gave him a reassuring smile and a small shove on the back. Both wolves watched as the human came up to the table.

"I know it's too dangerous to go out right now, but I figured we can go hunting when things become more peaceful." Said Galle.

Kyo picked up the object into his hands and turned around with a grin across his face. "Thank you Alpha."

The human ran up to Galle and gave him a big hug, the wolf smiled as he hugged the human back. The hug was short as Kyo stepped back to examine the object further, the bow he held was nicely curved, the draw string was tight and had good weight behind the draw as he pulled it back.

"Icewaver mentioned that there was something in town that you would like, I was confused at first as I walked down the main road a couple of days ago but when I saw the stand I figured that's what he was talking about." The alpha explained as he leaned against the wall.

Icewaver held out his paw so his pup can give him it to inspect himself. "At least you didn't get a bow with too heavy of a drawback." The wolf stated.

Galle let out a small laugh. "You know how hard it was to find a bow at that stand with a light drawback, I don't think Pup would be able to draw any of them. I had to have one of the smiths loosen this one up."

"Well it's a fact that wolves are stronger than humans by far." Icewaver set the bow on the rack and went up to hug his human from behind. "But how things are with my human I wouldn't have it any other way."

Galle smiled at the two, "Well I still have some important preparations to take care of with Captain Nogra."

Icewaver looked confused at the wolf. "What are you planning now father?" The bigger wolf just smiled and walked off without another word. "You know I hate it when he never answers my questions."

Kyo just giggled as he held onto the wolf's arms. "Guess he wants to make it a surprise."

The wolf let out a small sigh, "That's what I'm afraid of."

The doors flew open to the council chambers as Galle walked up to the table that Captain Nogra and one of the wolf captains. They both stood up when the alpha came in, he looked around but frowned at those who was attending the meeting.

"Captain Serikko," Galle said in a stern tone, the white wolf had a black stripe down the back of his head, looked over to the wolf. "Where is Captain Trimoph?"

"My lord, the captain hasn't been seen since he came back after the incident with the bears." He calmly said.

The alpha looked over to one of the guards standing near the door. "Go fetch the captain now." With a bow the wolf was through the door and off on his mission. Galle took a seat followed by the two captains, "Captain Nogra, is what we discussed earlier alright with you?"

The bear gave a nod, "Yes my lord, I'm sure the prince will approve."

"Good." The alpha leaned forward.

"What about the location my lord?" Captain Serikko asked.

"I think I know the best place to set up a trading village." Galle reassured with a smile. They all continued to go over the final details before the alpha let Serikko go.

The bear looked over to Galle as the wolf stared out the nearby window, night had fallen as the meeting took up most of the day. He can tell the Alpha was thinking deeply, the bear didn't want to interrupt but he had to find something else out. "My lord?"

"Yes?" The wolf said without moving except his ears.

The bear shifted in his chair uncomfortably. "What about the other arrangement we discussed?"

The wolf let out a sigh before he turned around and placed his elbows onto the table, the bear looked at the alpha, the look as if the wolf would break down any moment. The conversation they had was hard on the wolf but they weren't done when the door was busted open and a wolf came running in.

"My lord!" The wolf Yelled. They both stood up sensing the urgency.

Kyo and Icewaver left the armory hand in paw, they went about their normal routine, Icewaver went out to tend to the guards while Kyo went off to play with the pups and make sure that were happy once more.

Life at the palace still had a depressing feel but everyone went on as normal. Kyo walked out to the gardens where he sat down and looked at the flowers, he thought about how his life was full of death and what would happen if something would happen to his wolf.

Kyo couldn't help but feel sad at the thought of losing Icewaver, he was so caught up into his thought that he didn't notice that the sun was setting and Icewaver walking around the corner.

"Pup?" Icewaver called out.

Kyo turned around and started to burst into tears at the sight of his wolf, getting up he ran into a mad dash and slammed into Icewaver with a huge hug.

"I don't want to lose you." Kyo said softly between his sobs.

"Hey, who says I'm going to leave you." The wolf said softly as he ran his claw through the human's hair.

Kyo just buried his face into the wolf's chest hugging him closer "Everyone around me that I care about ends up dyeing on me, mom, dad, my village and now your mother. I don't want to lose you next."

Icewaver bent down so he could see his human at eye level, he lifted the human's face up by his chin with one finger. "I'm not going to leave you ever. I promise you." The wolf said before he placed a kiss onto the human's lips.

Icewaver picked up his human and carried him back to the room, Icewaver gently placed him down onto the couch while he laid behind Kyo, licking him on the cheek to help calm him down.

"We'll have our food brought up to us later." Icewaver whispered into the human's ear.

Kyo just nodded while he lay in his wolf's strong arms. The two just laid on the couch in peace, Kyo looking out the window to see that night has taken over when their door flew open. "Lord Icewaver!" A guard shouted.

"What's the meaning of this?" Icewaver shouted at the intrusion of the guard.

The wolf ran up to him out of breath. "We are under attack." He yelled.

Icewaver quickly got up and ran over to his bed and grabbed his sword, when he came back out gave Kyo a kiss on the cheek before fastening his sword to his back. "Stay here." The two wolves ran outside of the room into the halls.

"What are the details?" Icewaver announced while they made their way down the hall.

The wolf right by his side shook his head, "I don't know, one minute everything was fine but then a group came up to the gate in cloaks and started to attack. Then more came in from between the buildings."

They both got to the front door to see Galle standing. "Father, I'll take care of this. Stay here."

"No you need to stay I will lead." The alpha told him.

"Father please, you're the alpha I can lead my men." Before his dad can force the issue much further Icewaver ran out with his sword in hand.

The sight was unexplainable, the gate was broken open, and his guards were fighting cloaked covered figures. Icewaver looked behind as some guards were about to head out to join the fight. They came up beside him ready for his orders, "Get bows." The wolf commanded.

Three ran off as the rest stood ready. When they came back with arms full of bows and quivers of arrows Icewaver had to think fast, the army was slowly pouring into their court yard. So he figured that the only thing he had to do was help slow them down till they deal with the ones already inside. "Bows to the ready." Icewaver yelled. All the wolves that were armed aimed their arrows. "Aim for the gate's opening, Fire at will!" The wolf shouted. A volley of arrows went soaring threw the air until they landed on their marks. Yelps and holler could be heard from where they stood. The wolves loaded another set as they sent them into the air over and over again.

Icewaver watched as the enemy didn't let up as they still tried to force their way in, even though it wasn't a big army they were skilled in fighting none the less. Icewaver ordered for them to keep shooting while he took the rest and charged into the fight. Icewaver sprinted down the steps with his sword in paw and wolves at his side. Icewaver made his way to the mess of wolves and cloaked enemy, Icewaver seen one move to him with a sword above his head ready to strike, Icewaver held his sword sideways and swung it across the enemy's torso.

The figure fell with a thump as warm blood soaked the stone pathway, Icewaver didn't keep focused on the body since he was in a dangerous area. One more came running up to him and tried to impale him with a sword. Icewaver simply stepped to the side as he swung downward to hit the blade away, Icewaver grabbed the figure tightly by the throat and stabbed him into the chest.

Icewaver let him fall onto the floor as he got ready for another to attack when a load howl can be heard. Icewaver was confused until a paw fell onto his shoulder and pulled him backwards.

"My lord please stay where it's safe." The voice was nice and calm.

Icewaver looked at a white wolf and smiled. "What took you so long Captain Serikko?"

Icewaver heard someone call to stop firing, "Sorry my lord but your brother informed me late and it was hard to get my men out of bed once they get in. They will be coming towards the gate."

"Good but what I want to know is where these guys came from." Icewaver said he looked around to see that the enemy is starting to thin out.

The captain ushered the wolf back towards the palace. "I have no clue my lord, I can't even tell what they are since they are all wrapped up and if they are furs then they are good at hiding their tails." The captain chuckled.

Icewaver looked back at the fight and nodded, the small army that they were fighting was wearing cloaks but their entire bodies was covered even their faces so they can't be identified so easily, It helps to make them unpredictable since Icewaver don't know who they are fighting.

As the fight continued the captain noticed something. "My Lord it's a suicide attack."

Icewaver nodded. "I noticed, even though they can't win or have a lot of men they just won't stop their attack."

The wolves kept hacking down their enemy when the captain's men join the fight moments later, flanking the enemy from behind. The fight slowly continued till no one was left standing from the intruders. Icewaver and the captain moved through the small battle field, so many dead bodies and blood all over brought a slight depression feel to everyone.

As the two continued to walk across the court yard Icewaver heard a faint gag. The wolf stopped and seen one of the cloaked figure gasping for air, his left side pierced so deep that blood flowed freely from the wound.

Icewaver knelt down and uncovered the mask to see a wolf lying before him. He looked carefully and realized that he looked familiar but couldn't place his finger on him, the injured wolf looked up at Icewaver with a big smile.

Icewaver growled and gripped the wolf's neck tightly. "And what's so funny?"

The wolf coughed a few times still a smile on his face. "We were just the distraction." The wolf laughed.

Everything seemed to click as he looked back at the palace and started to sprint towards it with only one person in his mind.

'Pup.'

I know what your all thinking, "DAMN another cliff hanger." I just felt it was a good spot to leave this part of my story. I plan to have the next Ch. up soon to help ease some of the anticapation. Well hope you like it and please rate and fav :).
