Ch8. Goodbye

Icewaver's arms tightened on the human a little just before he woke up and opened his eyes. He looked down with a smile as he nuzzled the back of his human's head, but that smile didn't last long when he looked over the boy's shoulder to see his father still clung to Kyo's waist. The big wolf's fur was matted down from tears rolling down his face all night.

The wolf let out a deep sigh as he moved out from under the covers and walked to his closet. He slipped on a pair of pants before he went to the door.

"Master where are you going?" Icewaver heard behind him.

The wolf slowly turned around to see Kyo was awake, the wolf gave his human a smile. "I'll be right back."

Kyo didn't get to ask anything before the wolf was out the door. Icewaver moved slowly through the palace, he came to the chamber where his mother's body was laying. He walked in just in time to see two female wolves get done wrapping the body in pure white cloth, the two noticed the wolf standing in the room so they both bowed and left with only whipping the tears from their eyes. Icewaver slowly walked up to his mother and got down onto his knees.

Even with the wrapping the young wolf can still see the features clearly as he moved one of his paws to the side of her face. He didn't hold back when he touched her as tears rolled down his face, he moved closer to her as he nuzzled her cheek.

"Mother..." The wolf sobbed. "Why?"

Like his father he had lots of emotion but even though he had sorrow he also had rage. The only thought running through his mind was why would someone take the most caring wolf in the whole world and murder her? Icewaver wanted to find who ever done this and make them suffer, make them pay. Icewaver sat up and kissed his mother on the forehead before walking out and leaving the two wolves to get back to their duties.

"It's sad you know." Icewaver heard as soon as he walked out into the hall. "That something like this would happen to the kindest wolf to walk these lands."

"What do you want?" Icewaver growled not bothering to look at the wolf that was leaning onto the wall.

The wolf gave a small shrug. "Just to let you know that your time as alpha might come sooner than planned."

Icewaver glared at the wolf. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Don't be so blind." The wolf said as he stood up. "Father has lost it, mother's death got to him so badly that most likely he lost his ability to lead as alpha. That mean you'll have to step up"

Icewaver growled at Luerist. "Father can still lead us as alpha."

The older wolf let out a loud sigh. "But if he doesn't get his emotions together he won't and you'll have to be alpha and also find a mate. Not some human fuck toy."

Rage rushed through Icewaver as he rushed forward and grabbed his brother by the throat and held him up against the wall. Luerist grasped Icewaver's arm as he struggled to get free.

"First off," The wolf yelled. "Pup is not just some fuck toy that I keep for amusement. He is my mate that I already lost once and not going to lose again." His grip tightened onto his brother's throat and could hear him chocking from loss of oxygen. "Next is if you were half the wolf that act like then you wouldn't make up some pitiful excuse like taking care of your family to not become alpha, you're never with them during the day anyways."

Icewaver released his brother and watched as Luerist fell onto the floor coughing for air. "You think that I'll make a good alpha because I'm strong but you forgot that you also have to be smart and caring. You might not be as strong as I am but you have the brains that I'll never have. I would end up depending on others for things that you can figure out on the spot."

Icewaver let out a deep breath and tried to calm himself while reaching down and pulling his brother up into his feet. "The funeral will start in a couple of hours," the wolf said as he started to walk away. "I suggest you pay your respects to mother properly before it's too late."

Icewaver rounded the corner when he heard a noise from behind him, he knew it was most likely his brother falling onto his knees but the wolf didn't stop to find out.

Kyo shifted a little in the bed before he felt the grip on him tightened. Kyo gave the wolf a small smile while he looked down at the big wolf that had his arms wrapped around him. The human ran his fingers through the wolf's fur, Galle let out a groan before he opened his eyes and sat up a bit. He saw Kyo smiling at him and he gave a small smile back, after whipping his face off with his arm, the wolf moved out of the bed and started to put his pants on.

"Thank you for letting me sleep with you two last night." The wolf said without looking at Kyo.

"It's not a problem alpha, I know how hard it is to lose someone close and the last thing that anyone wants when that happens is to be alone."

Galle just got done dressing when the door to the room opened, Icewaver slowly moved in when he noticed that the two were up. The wolf gave them a smile while he moved to the side of the bed and sat beside his human. "Pup, you need to get up and get ready." The wolf said as he wrapped his arms around his human.

Kyo looked up a little confused. "For what?"

Galle didn't say anything as he walked out of the room, Icewaver ears fell as he looked away from Kyo. "Mother's funeral."

The human looked a bit confused. "So soon?"

Icewaver nodded slowly. "Yes, it's a wolf tradition to bury the family member when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky the next day."

Kyo got up out of bed and went to go change. Icewaver went to his closet and grabbed a pair of pure white pants and gave them to his human. Icewaver got a pair for himself and put them on, once the two was ready they made their way down to the dining room to get something quick to eat. The pups were already there but none of them ran up to Kyo, the sat and ate their meal while the human went up to all of them and gave them each a hug before sitting down.

They all ate their meal quietly except for the small whimpers that the pups was giving off, no one wanted to think about what's going to go on later in the day. Icewaver finished first and waited for Kyo to finish up before they walked out of the room, Kyo noticed that in the main hall white flowers was placed on the pillars that went towards the front door. Icewaver made his way out side to see that the wolves of the village were starting to already gather.

"So is the whole village going to be at the ceremony?" Kyo asked.

Icewaver wrapped an arm around his human's shoulder. "Like I said earlier, the family will be there and she was like a mother to everyone."

"Excuse me sir?" they both heard, Icewaver turned to see a solder in white uniform standing at attention.

"Yes?" Icewaver asked.

"I was wonder if you have seen captain Trimoph?" the wolf aked.

Icewaver shook his head, "No I haven't seen him since we got back."

The solder nodded. "Ok, he said he had to take care of things at his farm and was wondering if he got back yet."

Icewaver smiled. "I bet his cattle got out once again, if I see him then I let you know."

"Thank you my lord." The wolf bowed and walked off.

Icewaver shook his head and looked down to Kyo. "That captain always has problems with his cattle he ends up leaving every once in a while to take care of them." The human smiled while he followed the wolf outside the palace.

The two was walking through the gardens when Kyo noticed the captain of the bear clan walking towards them. The bear's ears flatten when he got close to them, his head looking down at the ground. "My lord, I'm very sorry for what happened." Nogra mumbled.

Icewaver patted the bear on the shoulder while he started to walk past him, when Kyo started to follow the bear stepped into the humans path. Kyo looked up at the captain somewhat confused but he watched as Nogra held out a small pouch to the human.

"I know that you already forgave me but I got this for you yesterday, one of my men designed it." Kyo slowly took the pouch from the bear's paw and felt that it had some weight to it. Kyo opened it to see a black handle sticking out towards him, The human grasped it then gently pulled. The object smoothly slipped out of the sheath to reveal that he was holding a knife.

Kyo held the dangers object at where the handle and blade meets, he felt that it was pretty well balanced. After examining it he put it back, he looked up and the bear with a smile before running up and giving him a hug.

"Thank you." He said, the bear was a little surprised but managed to hug the human back.

Before the bear could respond they all heard a load howl from nearby. "They're about to start." Icewaver said softly.

They all made their way to the front of the palace where many wolves was standing patiently. It wasn't long till the doors opened as four wolves emerged from the large building, each one holding the corners of the platform that Heavshal was laying on. Each of the wolves is wearing white pants with gold wrist cuffs, the body of the once loved wolf was wrapped in white cloth and was surrounded by white flowers that Kyo have never seen before. Galle and the rest of the family appeard from the doorway of the palace moments after the carriers has passed. Icewaver grabbed his pup's hand and pulled him threw the crowd, they both appeard besides the alpha and started to walk beside him. Kyo looked up and seen that the wolf's face was still slightly damp, his he didn't bother to acknowledge the two as he kept his eyes on the body that was being taken threw town.

As they made their way around town, wolves would move out of the way and waited as the family pass by before they joined the whole crowed. They ended up marching up to a side of a nearby hill that had a good view of the town, their whole was dug in the ground with a wolf standing pationtly. The ones caring the body slowly her onto the ground and gave their bow before walking over to join the crowd. Everyone was silent except from the whimpering that could be heard from all around as wolves started to surround the sight.

Icewaver leaned closer to Kyo so he could whisper into his ear. "That's the holy one," he said quietly as he motioned to the wolf standing near the body. "He is going to give mother her passing to join Luna, the moon spirit."

"So why does she have to be buried at this time of day then?" Kyo asked quietly.

Icewaver looked up at the sky. "It's her brother Finere that escorts our souls to her, it's said that the sun is his light to guild us to their paradise so we wait till it's the highest so we don't get lost on our journey. The holy one is going to release her soul so she can be with Luna and give her body back to the earth as payment."

Kyo nodded and understood a little in their beliefs. The holy wolf raised his hands high into the air, at that moment everyone started to get down onto one knee. "I know that losing someone hard to handle," The wolf started. "But don't forget that Luna takes care of all of her children, Heavshal and the others today will make their journey with Finere to her paradise and they will be their happily and patiently will we join them. His kind soul will be more that welcome into Luna's open arms."

Kyo listened but was a bit confused when he mentioned that there was other's, he looked around and in the distant he seen that there were more funerals happening. "They were her guards." Icewaver whispered to Kyo.

The human watched as the holy wolf sent his prayer up to Finere to insure of Heavshal's safety as she goes to Luna. With that he stretched his arm out to the wolves that carried her, they all stood as they moved and picked her up and gently placed her into the ground.

"Heavshal gives her body from the world that gave her birth as payment to enter paradise." He bowed as did everyone else. The four wolves stood on each end as they waited, The corner of Kyo's eyes he seen the alpha stand up and makes his way to the grave. He knelt down and kissed his paw before he placed it on her forehead.

"My love, wait for me in paradise." He said before standing up and nodded. The four wolves started to move dirt over the body till the whole was almost full. Icewaver stood as he looked over at the crowd as they moved to the side to make a clearing, more wolves came up to the grave with stones as they started to stack them over the buried body, once the stones was all placed over the body a female wolf came from the crowd and placed a white flower onto of the grave, once she left another appeared from the crowd and done the same thing. Once by one a wolf came and placed a white flower on top of the grave.

The grave was totally covered in white by the time everyone had placed a flower and left. They only ones standing at the grave was the alpha and his family. Icewaver looked over at his brother and saw that his cheeks was actually wet, the wolf placed his paw on the older one's shoulder.

"Take your pups back home, we'll be there shortly." The wolf nodded as he turned to his children and wife and motioned them to the palace. Icewaver gave his father a few more minutes of silence, the whole time the body was being burred the wolf didn't even move. His sight seemed distant, Icewaver was stating to fear that his brother could be right that he had lost his will to be alpha. The wolf walked over to Galle and placed his paw onto his shoulder. "Let's go back."

The bigger wolf didn't even argue as he turned and started to make his way back to the palace Icewaver and Kyo looked at the grave one last time before following the big wolf. When they got back, Galle just walked off upstairs.

"Is he going to be ok?" Kyo asked.

Icewaver laid his ears back when he looked over to his human. "For all of our sakes I hope so."

The rest of the day went on almost as normal. Icewaver was leading the guards while his brother was in the study, Kyo was off trying to cheer up the pups by taking them outside and play around. He got them to play a little but they didn't seem that very cheerful. Dinner came and everyone ate quietly, Galle finished his food first.

"I'm off to bed." The big wolf said as he left.

Everyone else finished their meals and done the same thing. Icewaver dismissed Shine for the night, they both stripped out of the clothing from the day. As they laid onto the bed, Icewaver reached out to his pup and pulled him close he gave the human a couple of licks on the back of the neck before he nuzzled him.

"Master..."Kyo said softly. "What do you think Angelis's intentions are?"

The human felt the wolf's grip tighten as he buried his face into the back of Kyo's neck. "I do not know, but I want to find her to find out. That's why I have men in groups looking all over for her."

Kyo just nodded and let his wolf hold him, feeling his warmth as they both waited for sleep to take them and end this day that was full of sadness and remorse.

Ok so I finally got around to getting my next Ch. done, kind of short but I'll make up for that in the next Ch.
