As he drew his last breath, Sam saw everything.
He saw his mistakes, his smothering of Simone, his inability to comfort his brother.
He saw stars, so many endless stars, an ocean of light where there should be void.
And he saw them.
Scheming, conniving, vicious.
He had no name for those things but evil.
And they caught Grey in their trap, alongside four other souls.
Though Grey had rejected him, Sam's love didn't die. It was now an ember, a good luck charm against the foes to come.
Because he took up arms, light forming in his paws.
And he would save him.
