#37 of Pokemon - To Catch Them All

Leo arrives in Dewford and begins training and catching Pokemon in Granite Cave where he meets a surprising character, before a mural.

After defeating Roxanne and claiming my first badge from Hoenn, the Stone Badge. I knew my next battle would be in Dewford but to get there, I needed to go south back through Petalburg Woods and hitch a ride on a ferry across to Dewford Town. After buying some more Pokeballs for the potential new captures that awaited me I began retracing my steps and left Rustboro City and returned down through Route 104 and bypassed the berry house where I harvested some more berries. Recently, when it came to berries I had decided to harvest as many as I could as for when I returned to Kanto I would plant as many berries as I could all over the large garden. This would help create natural food sources for the Pokemon and create a more natural habitat.

As I headed inside Petalburg Woods Grovyle exited his Pokeball to enjoy the beautiful scenery and almost a natural home for himself. The Pokedex did state that Grovyle were commonly found living deep inside jungles and Petalburg Woods did in a way resemble a jungle. Though eventually we exited the jungle and Grovyle returned to his Pokeball and I continued on my way. On the south of Route 104 I came across the ocean that separated me from Dewford Town. However, their was a boat that was parked outside of a house that seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. As I approached a elderly man exited the home and seemed surprised and happy to have a potential visitor.

"Hello youngster, might you be looking to sail to Dewford Town?" I nodded "yes are you a sailor then?" I asked and he nodded before apologising profusely. "Oh there I go again, sorry youngster, my name is Brinery and I was and still am an accomplished sailor that loves to explore the ocean. So, would you like to sail across to Dewford then?" I once again nodded, "yes, that would be very helpful, thank you very much. Oh and my name is Leo before I forget." Briney nodded his head before we stepped on his boat and he began to drive on over to Dewford.

While waiting for the time to pass, I released Marshtomp and Wingull and they appreciated the ocean waves and clean air as they looked across at the ocean waves. Eventually though, Wingull couldn't help himself and decided to fly above the ship and scour across the ocean waves. I watched happy to see Wingull enjoying a healthy flight. It must have been a good change of scenery since he was training for a while in Petalburg Woods and that wasn't something he enjoyed that much. Eventually after some time passed by I eventually saw an island approaching in the distance. Briney saw the island as well and confirmed my suspicions. "That is Dewford Town, we'll be there in no time at all." He was right and in no time at all we landed on Dewford and I exited the boat and returned Wingull and Marshtomp and thanked Briney for the boat ride.

"After your done with Dewford, I wouldn't mind helping you reach Slateport City. The next ferry won't be for a while." Mr Briney offered and I accepted informing Briney that I would be challenging the gym and catching some Pokemon in the nearby Granite Cave. Once done with that though I'd be more than happy to head to Slateport City. Briney was in agreement and decided he would wait at his boat for when I was done with my visit. Firstly I headed north past Dewford and reached Route 106 which linked to Granite Cave and the ocean surrounding Dewford. In the distance I could see many surfers enjoying the waves and on the beach, beachgoers were enjoying the sand and sunshine.

As I explored the beachy route, I was challenged by a Fisherman who sent out a Tentacool and I sent out my elder Ralts who used Confusion against Tentacool which was super effective and defeated Tentacool. A second Fisherman then challenged me with a Magikarp which I had my Grovyle handle with Mega Drain and a Tentacool which the younger Ralts dealt with swiftly using Confusion. A Backpacker challenged me with a Slakoth and I sent out my Combusken and had him use Double Kick defeating the Normal Type.

At that I defeated all the trainers and decided to head on inside Granite Cave and began exploring the first level of the cave and was not surprised to see Zubat in the cave. It seemed as though no matter what region you were in, when you were in a cave, you would find Zubat everywhere. But that just showed how resilient this species of Pokemon were and could thrive where most other Pokemon couldn't. However, according to my Rotom Phone, there were many new Pokemon that could be found in Granite cave and some were more common the deeper inside the cave I went. On the first level the only Pokemon I found was a Makuhita a Fighting Type. "Come out Taillow!" Taillow swooped on having some slight difficulties flying thanks to being in a cave but managed to handle himself.

Before I could even give Taillow a command Makuhita struck first and use Fake Out on Taillow flinching him and surprising me. "I had no idea that Makuhita could even use Fake Out. Taillow use Wing Attack!" Taillow flew as low to the ground as he dared and managed to strike Makuhita with both wings causing super effective damage and forcing Makuhita to kneel down breathing heavily. "Pokeball go!" I threw a Pokeball and watched as the ball shook once, twice, three times before the Pokeball burst open and Makuhita glared still breathing heavily but smirking lightly at Taillow.

Taillow wasn't going to back down and decided to go on the offensive once again. "Taillow use Quick Attack!" Taillow zoomed towards Makuhita at lightning speed but Makuhita may not have been fast enough to dodge but decided to use his hands to throw sand into Taillow's path. The Sand Attack was effective and caused Taillow to land trying to remove the sand from his eyes. Eventually he was successful and he was greatly annoyed at the Makuhita. "Once more Quick Attack!" Taillow again charged towards Makuhita who prepared to counter with Sand Attack once again. "Dodge and get behind Makuhita!" I commanded Taillow who immediately followed the command circling around Makuhita and effectively dodging Sand Attack and thus landing a Quick Attack.

"Pokeball go!" I watched as the ball shook once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Makuhita has been registered to your Pokedex. Makuhita the Guts Pokemon a Fighting Type. It toughens its body by slamming into thick trees. Many snapped trees can be found near its nest." I smiled and congratulated Taillow on such a good job. Taillow happily flew into my arms and hugged me as best as he could with his wings but suddenly began glowing. I lowered him to the ground and watched as he grew much taller. "Swellow has been registered to your Pokedex. Swellow the Swallow Pokemon a Normal and Flying Type. It circles the sky in search of prey and dives sharply to catch its target."

Once more I happily congratulated Swellow on successfully evolving and he thanked his beloved trainer for giving him the best commands he could. However, with Swellow's increased size I could see he wasn't comfortable inside the cave and thus I decided to recall him and let him out outside the cave where he could have as much room as he needed. I also released Makuhita and had him healed and offered him praise for battling so well against a Flying Type when he was at a disadvantage. Makuhita wasn't expecting such praise from a trainer he had met and wasn't sure how to respond other than thanking his new trainer for the compliment. Before I descended further down into Granite Cave I headed down the cave some more and reached a room which was very interesting.

It looked like a cave mural that had been created many, many years ago by ancient people. What the mural depicted was three Pokemon that looked like Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza however, their appearances were far different than what I had believed them too be. Was this perhaps a transformation like mega evolution. Or could it have been something completely different? The mural also seemed to depict not only their appearance but also the power they seemed to posses in these forms. They seemed to have their powers increased exponentially and it seemed as a consequence their powers created disasters for people who lived in the past. Perhaps that's why the people created the mural to show the damage and power that these Pokemon possessed. I wonder if the ancient people even viewed these Pokemon as deities. I was so immersed with this mural that I hadn't actually heard or noticed someone standing beside me as they too observed the mural.

"This mural depicts the legendary Pokemon, or the 'super ancient Pokemon' those being, Kyogre, the Pokemon that controls the oceans. Groudon the Pokemon that controls the land and their master, the legendary Pokemon Rayquaza who lives high in the atmosphere." I turned to face the newcomer intrigued at the knowledge that they possessed of these Pokemon and maybe even their forms that they possessed. At a second glance I recognised the man who spoke, "your Steven Stone, the champion of Hoenn and your ranked number 3 in the Masters eight!"

Steven Stone smiled and nodded his head, "yes and who might you be?" I quickly introduced myself, "I'm Leo from Viridian City in Kanto!" Steven Stone nodded his head once more. "So, Leo are you interested in this mural. It's not often someone as young as yourself even bothers looking at these murals nowadays." I turned back to the mural and pondered my response. "Yes, someday in the future, I want to catch every Pokemon that exists. That includes these legendary Pokemon. More to the point however, the mural seems to depict fear of these Pokemon, or perhaps, fear of the power these Pokemon possessed. Not only that, but the forms look different to the forms that I have seen in images."

Steven Stone smiled impressed at the knowledge such a young man knew of these legendary Pokemon and was even more impressed at the dream the young man had. "You would be right, Kyogre and Groudon possessed these ancient forms when they absorb energy from nature to increase their powers. We now call that form Primal Reversion Kyogre and Groudon. I believe that this mural created by the ancient people who witnessed these super ancient Pokemon created the mural with the intent to show future generations the dangerous power that these legendary Pokemon once wielded."

I listened intently, "so these ancient forms, have they now been lost to time then?" I asked curiously and was surprised when Steven shook his head, "no, in the past both Kyogre and Groudon assumed their primal forms to gain a special power. I battled them alongside a gifted trainer but even with our power combined we were incapable of neither stopping those Pokemon, nor defeating them. However, that brings us to the legendary Pokemon of the sky Rayquaza." I knew a bit about Rayquaza though not much. "I've heard that Rayquaza, descends to earth, to stop Kyogre and Groudon whenever they begin to fight."

Steven agreed, "that's what happened, when primal Kyogre and Groudon clashed. You see the mural also depicts a different form for Rayquaza, but this form is not primal reversion. No, this power is mega evolution, Rayquaza uses it's mega evolved state to defeat the primal Kyogre and Groudon and reverted them back to their more common known forms." I was really impressed and intrigued about these legendary Pokemon but also perhaps a little nervous about the incredible power that they could use. "Those Pokemon sound both incredible but also terrifying. I guess that's what the mural shows. The ancient people must have both revered these Pokemon, but also feared them when they underwent Primal Reversion."

Steven agreed once again, "that's what I believe, the mural shows that Rayquaza will always be there to protect the planet whenever Kyogre and Groudon assume those forms. Before I leave, I must thank you for his wonderful conversation and wish you the best of luck with catching every Pokemon, even these super ancient Pokemon." I thanked Steven as he left and decided to return to catching the Pokemon that were deeper inside Granite Cave. Down on the lower level of the cave I began looking around for some new Pokemon to catch and decided I'd rely on my new Makuhita for help with catching some of the Pokemon here.

The first and only new Pokemon I came across down on the first lower level of the cave was a Aron a Steel and Rock Type which have Makuhita a great advantage. "Makuhita come on out!" Makuhita appeared drumming his fists together, showing his eagerness to battle. "I know this is our first battle together, so lets see how well we work as a team." Makuhita agreed and prepared himself for a battle. "Makuhita use Arm Thrust!" Makuhita smirked and charged towards Aron and began repeatedly using Arm Thrust which dealt massive damage with each hit. Only two hits and Aron had been defeated. "Pokeball go!" I watched as the Pokeball shook once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed.

"Aron has been registered to your Pokedex. Aron the Iron Armor Pokemon a Steel and Rock Type. It usually lives deep in mountains. But when its hungry, it shows up at the foot of the mountains and eats railroad tracks and cars." I high fived Makuhita and thanked him for a successful catch and healed up Aron as well. I descended down to the lowest level of Granite Cave and began exploring for the remainder of Pokemon I hadn't yet caught. Down in the cave it was much darker but my newest catches understood the layout of the cave and helped me traverse the cave in a safe way.

Eventually I came across a wild Mawile that looked rather threatening with its second mouth gnashing in my direction and it seemed to be a threat display meant to convince intruders not to attack Mawile. Since Mawile was a Steel and Fairy Type I chose to send out my Combusken thanks to his Fire Type moves they would be super effective against Mawile. "Combusken I need your help!" Combusken appeared kicking his legs out showing his strength to Mawile who glared in retaliation. "Combusken use Flame Charge!" Combusken dashed towards Mawile shrouded in flames. Mawile didn't back down and attempted to counter using Bite. The two moves collided and each Pokemon attempted to push the other back. Eventually thanks to type advantage, Combusken managed to push Mawile back and cause some super effective damage weakening Mawile enough for me to throw a Pokeball.

"Pokeball go!" I watched as the ball shook, once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Mawile has been registered to your Pokedex. Mawile the Deceiver Pokemon a Steel and Fairy Type. Attached to its head is a huge set of jaws formed by horns. It can chew through iron beams." I was impressed at the power of the jaws Mawile possessed and thanked Combusken returning him to his Pokeball and healing Mawile up. That left only two Pokemon remaining to catch and one might be more difficult to catch that I originally expected.

Sableye was a Pokemon that mainly appeared in the darkest areas of caves and the current area that I was exploring was exceptionally dark so the habitat seemed perfect for Sableye to inhabit. I also knew that Sableye gathered gems as a source of food, meaning that I might find some unique gems deep inside the cave as I explored. As I wandered through the cave I kept an eye and ear out for anything that looked or sounded like Sableye and eventually with some patience I spotted a Sableye rushing through the cave in front of me.

Sableye had excellent eyesight in the darkness and soon spotted me abandoning what it had been doing and instead focusing all its attention on the human deep inside the darkest area of Granite Cave. Sableye was definitely interested in the human, knowing that not many humans ventured deep inside Granite Cave unless they were after very specific Pokemon or items for themselves. I was here, for the Pokemon, not so much for the rare items. "Come out Ralts!" I sent out the younger Ralts and he shivered slightly seeing the intimidating Pokemon that too Ralts looked rather scary. "Don't worry Ralts, your really strong I know you can handle this." To add to the encouragement, the elder Ralts exited his Pokeball and gave his own encouragement but stood back and watched.

"Ralts use Disarming Voice!" Ralts shrieked and created a shockwave that crashed into Sableye causing super effective damage. Sableye after all was only weak to Fairy Type moves. Sableye stood back up shrugging off the attack surprisingly well and began his counter attack. Sableye created orbs and threw them at Ralts which I noticed was Confuse Ray. "Use Teleport and dodge them!" Ralts managed to dodge the Confuse Ray and appeared behind Sableye. "Now use another Disarming Voice!" At close range Ralts unleashed a second Disarming Voice and thanks to the distance, the attack seemed to be more effective against Sableye.

"Pokeball go!" I threw a Pokeball at the weakened Sableye and watched as the Pokeball shook once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Sableye has been registered to your Pokedex. Sableye the Darkness Pokemon a Dark and Ghost Type. It hides in the darkness of caves. Its diet of gems has transformed its eyes into gemstones." I was surprised to hear that as I never knew that Sableye's eyes had changed due to its diet, but I supposed it made sense. However, I was more surprised when I saw that Ralts had begun evolving thanks to his victory against Sableye. "Kirlia has been registered to your Pokedex. Kirlia the Emotion Pokemon a Psychic and Fairy Type, It is highly perceptive of its trainers feelings. It dances when it is feeling happy."

I saw how happy Kirlia was when he embraced me and his elder brother Ralts who was also happy at his evolution and I'm sure that Kirlia could now sense how happy I was too. At that I had only one remaining Pokemon that I hadn't yet caught and to find this Pokemon I'd need the assistance of some extra hands. "Come out Combusken, Marshtomp, Zigzagoon and Makuhita." The myriad of Pokemon appeared and wondered why they had all been called on.

"I'm looking for Nosepass a Pokemon that commonly inhabits rocks in these caves. I need you to smash through some rocks and find Nosepass for me." At that each Pokemon ran through the cave and began smashing through the rocks with relative ease. Zigzagoon used the move Rock Smash while the others mainly used their powerful physical strength to smash the boulders apart. With several Pokemon searching the time it took to find a Nosepass was relatively quick and it was Marshtomp who happened to come across Nosepass first.

"Thanks everyone for your help, return for now and get some rest!" I called back, Combusken, Zigzagoon and Makuhita and kept Marshtomp out to battle Nosepass who seemed a little confused as to what had happened. "Marshtomp use Water Pulse!" Marshtomp like it had against Roxanne's Marshtomp unleashed a powerful Water Pulse which landed a direct hit against Nosepass. Nosepass stumbled and struggled to stand back up after taking the super effective attack.

"Pokeball go!" I threw a Pokeball at Nosepass and watched as the ball shook once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Nosepass has been registered to your Pokedex. Nosepass the Compass Pokemon a Rock Type. It hunts without twitching a muscle by pulling in its prey with powerful magnetism. But sometimes it pulls natural enemies in close." I happily collected my Pokeball and healed up Nosepass happy to have yet another new capture.

At that I decided to do some training with all my Pokemon to ensure they were prepared to battle against Brawly the gym leader of Dewford Town and a expert in Fighting Types. First was Grovyle and in the cave he was performing excellently, his speed and agility allowed him to maneuverer through the cave and battle the Rock Types with relative ease. Combusken also had much of the same advantages, being a Fire and Fighting Type he had no problems defeating the many Geodude and Aron that inhabited the cave. He was growing increasingly more powerful day by day. Finally there was Marshtomp and he as you'd expect was having a easy time, his typing naturally countered almost every Pokemon that lived here. He had long since abandoned his nervous and cautious personality that he once had as a Mudkip and had grown into a capable and determined battler, something he owed to his beloved trainer.

Poochyena, relied on using his hearing and sense of smell when battling in the caves and mainly had an overwhelming advantage against the Abra that made Granite Cave their home. He faced some difficult challenges against the defensive Rock Pokemon but through his determination and sheer force of will he claimed his victories. As a reward for his efforts he had begun to evolve. "Mightyena has been registered to your Pokedex. Mightyena the Bite Pokemon a Dark Type. It chases down prey in a pack. It will never disobey the commands of a skilled trainer."

After inspecting his new body, Mightyena immediately ran over to me and bowled straight into me happily rubbing his nose into my face and licking me happily showing his happiness at evolving. Also, as the Pokedex stated, not once when battling, did Mightyena ever disobey my commands. He followed them all faithfully. Next was my Zigzagoon who had been growing steadily compared to most of my other Pokemon. Thanks to learning Rock Smash he had been having some ease against the Rock Pokemon and his speed also helped him avoid getting hurt. Eventually though, he too began to evolve. "Linoone has been registered to your Pokedex. Linoone the Rushing Pokemon a Normal Type. It charges prey at over 60 mph. However, because it can only run straight it often fails."

Linoone showed me his incredible speed while he got used to his body when he dashed around me and he did run in a straight line too. I guess he would have to learn to battle while getting used to his new body. Beautifly and Dustox were finding some difficulties here, training against their weaknesses, but it was helping them grow more powerful and it would help them know how to defeat their weaknesses. Something they were happy to have learnt and were thankful to their beloved trainer for too.

Lombre and Nuzleaf were enjoying their time training in the cave as they had a type advantage against nearly everything that lived here. Their abilities had been increasing speedily and they mainly wanted to showcase their strength to their trainer as thanks to him making them stronger. In the brief moments I trained Swellow, I tried to make it so he was comfortable with his increased size when training in Granite Cave and he seemed to find it useful learning to adapt to flying in confined environments.

Wingull was smaller than Swellow and as such wasn't having the same difficulties as Swellow. Not only that since he was also a Water Type he was able to take care of himself before any Rock Pokemon could attack him. He was growing stronger day by day and I couldn't have been happier for him. The older Ralts had quickly caught up to his younger brother and evolved into a Kirlia himself. The two were now once again the same species. They both seemed happy at each others progress too.

Surskit being a Bug and Water Type had some advantages and disadvantages so training here helped him understand where he needed to improve. Perhaps growing to understand his weaknesses and overcoming them was what allowed Surskit to begin evolving. "Masquerain has been registered to your Pokedex. Masquerian the Eyeball Pokemon a Bug and Flying Type. Its antennae have eye patterns on them. Its four wings enable it to hover and fly in any direction." Masquerain happily flew on over to me and landed on my head happily trying to hug me and show how thankful he was to his trainer. I congratulated him on achieving his evolution.

Shroomish was the next Pokemon I trained and he was growing exponentially more powerful thanks to being a Grass Type. He still had his attitude for battle as he had when he was caught so he absolutely enjoyed these intense training sessions which helped him grow even more powerful. That was something he intended to thank his master for someday. Perhaps the day would arrive sooner than Shroomish had hoped for as whe he had defeated a wild Geodude he had suddenly begun to evolve. "Breloom has been registered to your Pokedex. Breloom the Mushroom Pokemon a Grass and Fighting Type. Its short arms stretch when it throws punches. Its technique is that to pro boxers."

Breloom decided to show me his skill at throwing punches and demonstrated how good he now was. I decided when I returned to Kanto, Breloom would get along well with Hitmonchan. They would make excellent sparring partners but for now I happily hugged Breloom and he returned the hug with equal enthusiasm. Slakoth, may have seemed rather lazy and slow compared to my other Pokemon, but he still worked exceptionally hard to grow stronger and make his trainer happy. Perhaps the eagerness of the other Pokemon growing stronger and evolving had some sort of effect on him.

As such, Slakoth began glowing signalling his evolution. "Vigoroth has been registered to your Pokedex. Vigoroth the Wild Monkey Pokemon a Normal Type. Its heart beats at 10 times its previous rate, so it cannot sit still for even a moment." Vigoroth showed that boundless energy when he began to dance and jump around happy at evolving and wrapped his arms around me in a surprisingly powerful, yet gentle hug. I happily congratulated him on evolving too.

Nincada hadn't been getting much battling, so when I began training him, I wanted to also bond more with him and it had been working rather well. In battle, we worked well and Nincada followed my commands without hesitation and as a result he had been growing more powerful and confident in his own abilities. As such it shouldn't have been a surprise when Nincada began glowing signalling his evolution. "Ninjask has been registered to your Pokedex. Ninjask the Ninja Pokemon a Bug and Flying Type. Because they move so quickly, they sometimes become unseeable. They congregate around tree sap."

Ninjask happily hovered over my head glad to have evolved and he even demonstrated his immense speed when he disappeared around me reappearing and disappearing everywhere. I was interrupted when my Rotom updated a new entry on my Pokedex. "Shedinja has been registered to your Pokedex. Shedinja the Shed Pokemon a Bug and Ghost Type. It is a discarded bug shell that came to life. Peering into the crack on its back is said to steal one's spirit."

I was surprised but at the same time knew that when Nincada evolved there was a possibility that I might also acquire a Shedinja too. Still Ninjask and Shedinja seemed to study one another before they turned to embrace me together, as best as Shedinja could. Still, I happily embraced the two evolved Pokemon and continued on. Whismur had always been different to other species of Whismur, mainly because of his surprising confidence in battle. Not too say that was a bad thing, no that made Whismur unique. Still seeing him grow more and more powerful with each and every victory he earned was gratifying to see.

Perhaps I hadn't expected Whismur to have already begun to evolve. I had only caught him recently and trained him on and off back when he was first caught. So he must have already been quite powerful from the moment he had first been caught. "Loudred has been registered to your Pokedex. Loudred the Big Voice Pokemon a Normal Type. The shockwaves from its cries can tip over trucks. It stamps its feet to power up." Luckily Loudred didn't show me his increased power with his shockwaves, probably judging they would be too powerful for my human ears to handle, but I happily congratulated Loudred nonetheless.

Makuhita had been one of the newer Pokemon acquired and he was already decently powerful and that was amplified since he was already a Fighting Type and was training against several Pokemon that he was strong against. Makuhita also seemed happy that he had a loving trainer, that pushed him to be better every day. That showed him love and attention whenever he could. Makuhita was happy to have just that. Nosepass was the newest Pokemon I had caught and I also knew he wouldn't be evolving any time soon. Nosepass evolve when their in a specific environment as such, in Mt Coronet in Sinnoh or Chargestone Cave in Unova. There were other locations, but the nearest would be in Sinnoh. Right now though, Nosepass was happy at being a Nosepass and if he was happy I was happy too.

Skitty was adorable and very curious around anything he could find. Whether that be a Pokemon or a person, or even a item that he found lying around. He always tried his best in battles too though, showing he could be surprisingly tough and resilient in battles too. After any battle, Skitty liked to trot on over and demand a through grooming session to ensure their was no dirt or marks on his body and I obliged him. It was my responsibility as a trainer to ensure every Pokemon I owned was looking healthy and happy.

Sableye was a very interesting Pokemon, but his personality was already familiar to me thanks to him being a Ghost and Dark Type. He showed himself to be curious and mischievous. He loved to play pranks not only on me but any of my Pokemon too. Something told me when we got back to Kanto he would get along too well with Gengar, Sneasel and Mismagius too. Next was Mawile, based on our first few battles, we took some time to understand one another, Mawile preferred a cautious and strategic approach. I too battled in much the same way, though I also did go all out whenever an opportunity arose. Mawile therefore, learning how to approach battles in much the same way as his trainer. His moves were also surprisingly powerful too.

Finally there was my Aron, for his size, Aron had quite an attitude. He wasn't rebellious or antagonistic towards me or other Pokemon that I owned. More rather, Aron, just exuded a confidence in his own battles and he demanded battles exceedingly often. When he was out of the Pokeball, he expected to either be battling or training. He didn't like relaxing or time off, he just wanted to battle whenever he could and I tried to keep up with his demanding schedule. Thankfully, he took the whole training session easier on me since we had just met.

After all the training I'd done in Granite Cave I now felt prepared to challenge Brawly the gym leader and acquire my second gym badge.
