Dragon Heart: Greydor Story 2
Chapter Two: Friendship blooms
I stood in front of Sam as her eyes widened, but not in fear; more like surprised. She backed away from me as she almost fell over as she backed to the other side of the cave still looking at me. "You're...a...a...dragon?" she seemed to know what I was...sort of. Seeing how I was still in my human dragon form.
"And part human." She seemed even more confused but move closer bringing her hand up, but it was shaking.
"May...I?" she held her hand up as I nodded as she brought it to my claw holding it and twisting it as if seeing if I was real. "Why do you look almost human? Where you changed like this?" I shook my head as I smiled.
"Nah," I answered, "You see we have this thing that allows humans to change to dragons for life. My father was human and touch such a thing." I was not about to tell her what the 'thing' was just yet. "He held it long enough that he was able to mate with my mother and well..." I backed away to show myself more. "I can change to this and a fully dragon when I wish, though at times it takes a lot out of me to do such a thing." She just blinked at me as she soaked everything in as she sat down. "Are you okay Sam?" she looked up and nodded slowly. "Little weird huh?" she nodded again looking at me.
"So...there are more of you?"
"Half breeds or more dragons?"
"Dragons,"
"Yup, but er..." I looked away, "Until I can find a way for you off of this island you'll have to remain hidden, I don't want the Elders to see you; I don' know hat they might do." I didn't want to scare her, but if this was the only way to make sure she stayed hidden then I had no choice but to make her scared. I saw her eyes wide a bit as she nodded then looked outward to the cave to where the boat was.
"What happen to the two men from the boat?" she asked me as I looked down.
"I'm sorry..." she knew what I knew just from those two words as she looked down too.
"They risked their lives for me..." I looked up when she said that with a puzzle look on my face, she saw me and looked away. "It's nothing, forget I said anything Greydor. I was just thinking outload to myself."
She held her right arm tightly as it began to stain. "Are you okay?" I asked moving closer to see what was wrong. The smell of blood hit my face as I realized that she was bleeding. Though I didn't see any from the boat, she might have gotten it from her falling over seeing me for the first time. Going to the back of the cave I took a backpack Alice had given me with herbs and cloth to wrap almost any wound. I want back to her and sat the bag down. "Sit." I told her as she looked at me. "The wound might get worsen if not treated now, so please sit." She looked at her arm one last time and nodded, sitting in front of me with her legs crossed as she held her hand out to me. As I held her arm to see the cut, it was as long as her fore arm and pretty wide. Taking the herbs out I started to mix them together as the smell of the mixing became strong. I saw Sam hold her nose as she made a small gagging noise. This caused me to chuckle as I brought some water out and pour it on her wound. She yelped loudly as she jerked her arm to try to get away from the pain; but I held on with a firm grip as her arm shook from pain. "Easy," I told her, "I'm just cleaning the wound." She nodded as she studied my face, I studied hers' for a bit. One half of me was telling me not to trust her that no good would come to helping a human. But my other side fought with that side, saying everyone needed to be helped.
"Why are you helping me?" she asked as her arm jerk again as I spread the water on her arm.
"My mother always told me to help anyone that needs help, and well; I believe her when she says that." She smiled a bit looking up at me as I mixed the herbs a few more times.
"And your father?"
"My father is a great dragon, leader of the Elders though. Sure I can't see him a lot because of all the meetings, in fact this one meeting he keeps going to about a human named David always makes him a little edgy when it won't work in his favour; I only heard it once of course but still, I wish I knew what it was about." I didn't know why I was telling her all of this, I mean I never told dad about this or how I felt so why her? This was all confusing me to no end! "What about your folks?" I asked her. As soon as I did her head lowered until I couldn't see her face.
"My mom died giving birth to me, and my dad blamed me every chance he could get. He wanted me to follow in his footstep, to become something I didn't want. So with the help of those two men; I escaped." I pressed the cloth to her arm as she sucked in the air sharply as I began to wrap it around her arm.
"I'm sorry to hear about your mother." I told her as I tied the cloth in a knot to keep it from moving. "I don't know what I've done if my mom was gone. Did you have any friends back home?" she shook her head sadly, I was starting to feel bad for her as I brought her arm down. "Well...maybe we could be friends?" she looked right at my eyes as if she was thinking. I may have lots of friends here, but still she didn't have any.
"Sure." She smiled at me as I smiled back. "But why do you want to be my friend? I mean as you said you have many friends and a family that loves you." I gave it some real deep thought. Sure she didn't have friends and I wanted to help her, but was it something else?
"Cause everyone needs a friend." She chuckled as I did as well. Looking outside I saw that it was getting dark out. "I have to go, but I'll be sure to see you tomorrow!" she nodded again as she stood up stretching as I did too going outside as I stretch my wings.
"Thanks Greydor." Was the last thing I heard before flying off."
