#13 of A Family once Lost

It was early in the morning as Aaron awoke. His mind waking him early to train, but today he remembered he was going to teach Spyro and Cynder, and he knew if anytime now was the best. He stood up and walked towards the balcony, the sun's warm rays washing over him. He stood there for a few seconds before he left towards the training room.

In Spyro and Cynder's room they were sound asleep. Cynder's head was atop Spyro's chest as they slept. The only thing that could be heard was their soft breathing. As they laid there, the bed began to shake and rock. At first it was soft, but like an alarm it began to become harder and harder in till the bed had became a miniature earthquake. They screamed as they were shook, but once the sleep was shaken out of them the bed began to slowly stop."What in the world?!" Cynder yelled as she stepped off the bed.

"I don't know but..." He stopped as a voice could be heard.

"Time to train, be quiet and meet me in the training room." The voice said and they knew it was Aaron's.

"Okay, how did he do this?" Cynder asked but Spyro shrugged before he stretched.

"Might as well go meet him." He finished stretching and Cynder did hers before they left towards the training room.

As they entered the room Aaron could be seen in the middle of it. He held his arms out and carefully waved them around. He used time and precision to move, his timing never off as soon water could be soon forming around him. They both watched with interest as the water formed a perfect circle around him. Soon the bottom part of the water circle froze solid as he stopped, water sitting in a ice container as he turned to them. "Good morning students." He said sounding professional. "Sorry for the rough awakening, but it was a good way to wake you two up." Spyro and Cynder just stared at him with an irritated expression.

"You could have just come in and told us to wake up, not put us in an earthquake." Cynder said annoyed as Spyro nodded. Aaron closed his eyes as he began irritated. He stomped his foot and the room began to shake.

"You want me as a teacher, then follow my rules. Everything I do, is a lesson to be learned. Spyro, you will be able to move that of rock without having to see it, or even be close like you do now." He opened his eyes, a little anger in his voice as he spoke. Both Spyro and Cynder were both surprised and scared of his power, but nodded as they understood, well Cynder didn't.

"Wait, I still don't know how you can teach me." She responded and Aaron nodded in return.

"True, forgive me for my anger towards you Cynder but how do you think I told you to meet me in here, while I was in here?" He asked with a small smile on his face.

"I don't know, how did you?" She asked.

"I used the shadows and carry out my voice. The shadows might be alone and endless to some, but to those like us who can use them are connected and have ends." He said in response and she nodded.

"You're going to teach me how to use those connections?" She asked and he nodded.

"I will, and how to use them for different things." Cynder smiled. "But first, Spyro time for your first lesson in water manipulation. I know your used to using ice, a.k.a solid water so your lesson for today is to stand where I am, and move the water." Spyro was a little confused and Aaron face palmed. "Watch." Spyro did and was surprised as Aaron was able to move the water around in the container and made it into a rushing river. "The key is to lightly freeze a section of the water to move it as you wish. As like yesterday, to make the snake like form of water I froze and unfroze certain parts of the water to move it and keep its shape. It's is a difficult process, but this will only require you to freeze a second of it, and move it to move the water. You got that?" Spyro nodded as he switched places with Aaron. Aaron stood and watched as Spyro froze a huge section of the water, but when he tried to move it Aaron stopped him. "Wrong!" He splashed a little bit of water into Spyro's face, it freezing cold.

"Hey, I'm doing what you said!" He yelled, Aaron shook his head.

"You didn't watch, could you see the ice in the water I used to move?" He said with an angered tone. Spyro thought for a second and realized he didn't see. He looked down at the water ring to see a huge block of ice. Aaron kneed down and tried to move the ice with his hand ,he couldn't move it. "And you froze it to the wrong size."

"Well what can I do to fix it?" Spyro asked but Aaron shook his head.

"Learn on your own, but for every mistake you will be punished in till you do it right." The anger stayed in his voice, scaring Spyro. "Now watch." He brought his hand out and began to move the water and Spyro watched carefully, looking for the ice in the water to know it better, but he couldn't see it.

"How am I to learn if I cannot see?"

"You're just not paying attention!" He continued moving the water. Spyro peered closer and began to see a very thin piece of ice moving around. His eyes went wide as he realized how he was moving the water. "You see it now?" The ice disappeared as Spyro nodded. "Good, now try again!" Spyro nodded again as he tried, he breathed ice again but it was the same as last time. Aaron was about to splash him again when he himself realized something. He froze the ice chunk. "Spyro, do you know how to transfer energy into another part of your body?"

"Yeah, why?" Aaron didn't answer as he reached over the water and grabbed Spyro's wrist. He lifted Spyro onto his back legs and held them there.

"Think you can stand?" He didn't wait for a response as he let go, letting Spyro stand on his back legs. It took him a bit for his legs to stop wobbling from the added weight but once he was balance he nodded. "Now, use your hands to make the ice, and to push it like this." Aaron brought his hand up. "Make the ice about as long as your hand, but three times as thin and move it in a circle." He moved his arm around and continued back with the other. Spyro nodded as he tried, he placed his arm over the water and used his power through his hand, making ice but too think and long again receiving another splash into his face. Aaron watched for another minute, a splash every few seconds, before he turned to Cynder. "Now to teach you shadow travel."

"Shadow travel?" Cynder asked.

"To travel from one shadow to the other." He responded after doing another splash. Cynder nodded as they walked away. Aaron stopped her about a few feet away. "Now you heard how I talked to you guys, but for now we will learn to travel the whole body."

"Why not start with the voice, shouldn't that be easier?"

"No, the voice is the smallest thing you can travel so it would take the most power to keep it together as you travel so it doesn't get lost or broken up. The body will take the most power, but it is easier to keep together and make it travel. For instance. " He stepped into the shadow and appeared behind her. "The body naturally stays together, unless you break it up yourself, but that is a lesson for another day. Now the voice is a part of you that breaks away from you, when you use" Appears back in front of her. "it the farther away the hardest it is to hear it, but in the shadows and can get lost or broken up so when it gets to where you want it, "He whispered into the shadow "This,...is...get. " He stopped whispering. "That's what you get." She nodded as she stepped into the shadows while he stepped out. "Now become the shadow and appear over there." Points to the other side of the room. She nodded and tried, but only stayed in the same place as she popped up. She braced herself for a punishment but received nothing, while Spyro messed up and got a splash when Aaron wasn't anywhere near.

"That's not fair, she messed up. And how did you do that from over there with you back turned?" Spyro resounded.

"I'm not stupid to know you messed up Spyro, now try again. For you Cynder you need to picture the shadows connected and know they are, now try again." Cynder nodded as she tried again. She partly disappeared but appeared back to normal, breathing hard.

"What in the world?" She asked, still breathing heavy.

"Don't like the view huh?" He asked in response and she nodded. "I don't like it much either, but if you doddle like that, you see more and more of it. That's your punishment for failing, spending more time in that world, and you won't stop in till you travel through the shadows okay?" Cynder nodded again, but turned and giggled as Spyro got splashed again. "Don't focus on him okay, focus on the shadows now. When you and him finished you have all the time in the world to spend, in till tomorrow." Cynder snapped back and nodded as she tried again.

It was like this for about an hour. Spyro would continue to try, fail and get punish but make some progress. Cynder would disappear but never get through and see more and more of a frightening world. Aaron didn't watched them knowing they would continue, so he practice some fighting. All the while though they were being watched. Ignitus stood behind the door watching them train, seems he had been watching the whole time but has yet to show himself as he watched each practice so hard, in till Spyro yelled in glee as he began to move the water successfully. Cynder soon joined as she popped back and forth between the two shadows, and into others. Aaron stood, his arms crossed as he approved, but they weren't done yet.

"Now Spyro, melt and evaporate the water with no fire, and Cynder, "He turned so she couldn't see his shadow.

"Now appear behind me, without seeing my shadows, just know it's there and you should be able to do it." They both nodded and Cynder appeared behind him. "Good job, you are done for today, and Spyro..." He turned and Spyro was still trying. Aaron walked over and splashed him in the face. This lasted for another hour before Spyro had enough.

"Stop that!" He yelled and Aaron splashed him again."STOP THAT!" He yelled louder and Aaron splashed him again, the water chilling him to the bone.

"Do it right and I will." He said calmly. Spyro tried again but failed getting another splash in the face.

"Help me here, how do I do it?" He asked and Aaron shook his head.

"No." He replied bluntly.

"Why not?" Spyro asked.

"I had no help, and you have gotten enough. I had to practice for a week just to move the water right, you got it in a day because of me. Now melt it!" Aaron replied. Spyro tried again and failed getting another splash.

"Stop!" He tried again and received another splash. "Stop it!" He yelled as he tried again, yet he failed and received another splash in the face. "JUST STOP IT!" He yelled and the water and ice disappeared into thin air and Aaron smiled. Spyro looked down and smiled. "I did it."

"Because of my punishment. You getting mad did it, but next time you have to do it emotionless, or at least without showing it ok?" Spyro nodded as his question. "Now go on, you're done for today." Spyro nodded again as him and Cynder ran off to their room, to lay down and rest while Aaron stayed in the room.

"How long you been standing there Ignitus?" Aaron asked, which didn't surprise him.

"Long enough young one." He walked out from behind the door.

"You saw everything?" Aaron asked, his back to him.

"Yes, why didn't you tell us?" He asked.

"The less people know, the less chance he'll know." Ignitus nodded as he sat next to Aaron. "You going to tell the others?" Aaron asked looking up at him.

He shook his head lightly. "They'll find out sooner or later. For now, keep on teaching them while we tend to Hunter'swounds." Aaron nodded and Ignitus stood to leave.

"You know that he does know don't you?" Aaron asked, making Ignitus stop.

"Why else would he have gone after you then, just for fun?" He replied in another question and Aaron nodded.

"There's more to this then I know ain't there?" Aaron asked and Ignitus began to move again.

"A lot more." He answered before disappearing behind the door, leaving Aaron alone. He didn't do anything but look at the balcony.

"If that's the case I better get ready." He took off at a high speed towards the balcony off the training room. He jumped onto the railing and took a giant jump, falling several feet before landing on a branch and taking off again, running to a safe spot to train.

The rest of the day went calmly. Aaron came back after hours and went right to sleep when he got back. Spyro and Cynder trained their new found powers as much as they could before they too fell asleep from exhaustion. The elders continued to tend to Hunters wounds as the day went by, but they soon as well fell to sleep knowing Hunter would be fine through the night.
