#178 of Short Stories

A ferret can't recall what the were wearing.

~ The badger shuffled his way into the kitchen, pausing to stare at the empty spot where boxes of breakfast cereal would have been. With a muffled grumble, and two empty-ish cabinets later, he was carefully arranging the contents of a box of frozen pancakes onto a plate.

~ While they were thrumming away in the cooking rumble of his microwave, he carefully slipped back into his room to smile down to the ferret who was curled into a tangle of blankets and pillows.

~ "Hey, I've got breakfast heating up. Need anything?", gently shaking the bed to wake his guest somewhat.

~ Sunlight shimmered its way through the window and curtains as the ferret methodically straightened themselves out into a lingering yawn and stretch. They were now a length of fuzz wrapped in a tangle of blankets and pillows, groggily inquiring, "Was I wearing pants, or a skirt last night?", blinking out into the wider room as though to look for a pile of their clothes.

~ The badger chuckled a bit, "I've got a robe you can borrow, if you don't want to decide."

~ With a playfully light swat, the ferret replied simply with a thumbs up as they carefully pulled the blankets to themselves for a more comprehensive modesty.
