Chapter 9 : Making people jealous can be fun, but the truth can hurt.

Kyo was as happy as he could be, just lying on the bed in his master's arms without a care in the world. He couldn't help but hide his face in the wolf's chest when Icewaver started to lick the side of his cheek. They both stayed that way for some time and were about to drift off to sleep until someone knocked a couple of times. Kyo looked up at his master, Icewaver sighed but gave Kyo a nod. The human was disappointed that he had to get up to answer the door, Kyo slowly made his way and opened the door to see a tall cougar standing outside with a stern looking face.

The cougar was in light green pants and a tight shirt. He was about half a foot shorter than Icewaver but looked just as strong. As he looked down at Kyo he started to get a small smile. "Are you going to let me in slave?" His voice was heavy as he asked Kyo.

Kyo looked down at the ground and nodded as he moved off to the side to let the cat inside. "Master you have company." Kyo said.

Icewaver got up off the bed and made his way to the door as the cougar moved in. "What do I owe the pleasure of the company of the cougar king's son?" The wolf chuckled as he held out his paw.

A big smile came across the cougars face once he clasped his paw around Icewaver's. "Okay smart ass, my father wanted me to remind you that you are to dine with me and the other young ones in the separate dining room."

The wolf laughed out loud. "Of course, since we aren't good enough to dine with adults. I actually prefer it that way, with all the politic talk and all."

The cougar rolled his eyes. "God, you have no clue how much I have been hearing about politics lately."

"Well Bron." The wolf said when he placed his paw on the cougar's shoulder. "I guess this is how your father gives you time off then."

"Yeah." He shook his head as he turned towards the door. "Instead we have to deal with the little fucks."

The wolf continued to talk to the cougar as he escorted him out. The whole time Kyo didn't move from his spot near the door, Kyo got a shiver up his spine when he slowly looked up at the cougar to get a wink from him. After Bron was gone, Icewaver walked back in and jumped back onto the bed. "Pup I'm going to need a change of clothes for dinner tonight."

"Yes master..." Kyo answered. "What would you like to wear?"

"Hmmm..." the wolf thought for a moment, he rolled over onto his back and pointed to his unpacked bag. "The dark blue pants will do fine."

Kyo walked over to the bag, once he opened it he started to go through it in search for the clothing. He didn't seem to find it. "Master is it in the other bag?"

The wolf started to smile. "No they should be in that one."

Kyo started to take out the clothes but still didn't see the pants the wolf wanted. He got to the bottom of the bag and was surprised to see a small wrapped gift that had writing on it. Kyo picked it up and looked at it, it had writing on it and thankfully it was in a language he could read. 'To my pup.' Was on the wrapping as Kyo looked at his master. "What's this?"

The wolf got up and sat on the edge of the bed as he looked at Kyo with a big smile. "It's a gift for you, please open it."

Kyo slowly took off the wrapping as he revealed a new collar, unlike his old one it was a light blue color. It was leather but had soft fur padding on the inside, the next thing Kyo notice was that it had a gold trimming on the edge. Kyo kept inspecting the new collar when he came across one new feature, it was a gold plate tag on the front. But this writing Kyo couldn't read, it just looked like a bunch of lines that crossed each other.

"It says 'pup, head family's pet'." Icewaver said as he got up off the bed. "I had it made after I had a talk with my father before we left." The wolf removed the old collar off of Kyo's neck, he took the new one from the human and placed it on Kyo's neck so it was snug but not choking him. "Do you like it?" the wolf asked, Kyo suddenly jumped onto the wolf as he gave him a huge hug. Icewaver couldn't help but laugh as he hugged him back. "I'll take it as a yes." The wolf let Kyo go so he could get the clothes he needed from the other bag. Once the wolf was dressed and Kyo was ready as well, the two walked out of the room and down the hall.

Icewaver and Kyo ended up finding a small room where most of the two families was sitting and talking with each other. The wolf spotted the cougar from earlier and then he got an idea, Icewaver knelt down near Kyo. "Want to help make Bron jealous?" Kyo looked at Icewaver with a confused face but nodded. "Good, here is what I need you to do." Icewaver told Kyo what to do and explained why.

Kyo couldn't help but blush at the request. The two walked in, Kyo kindly greeted the king and alpha by bowing to both of them as he passed. Icewaver walked to the couch across from Bron and sat while Kyo stood by his side. Kyo looked and see that almost everyone was here, Froshen and a young cougar was playing in the back corner, the only wolf that wasn't present at the time was Angelis. A row of slaves from both the wolf and cougar clan were standing near the door waiting for orders. The wolf smiled at the cougar as he sat back, Bron looked up at the human and smiled.

"Did I mention that your family has a handsome looking slave?" He said.

Icewaver looked up at Kyo. "Yes he is very handsome..." Kyo couldn't help but blush from being praised by the wolf. "But, he is also very obedient." The wolf said as his gaze went back to the cougar.

Bron couldn't help but let out a chuckle. "With the right punishment any slave can be obedient."

Icewaver nodded. "This is true..." The wolf sat back in the couch and got more comfy. "But we didn't have to do any punishment for him to be like this."

The cougar tilted his head. "Really? Please do show." Some of the other cougars of Bron's family was watching as the two's conversation continued.

"Gladly..." Icewaver said with confidence. "Pup." Icewaver said.

Kyo stepped forward into Icewaver's view and bowed. "Yes master."

"Please get mother and father a drink, and then get into your place." He commanded. The alpha smiled at his son, but wondered in the back of his mind what the wolf was up to.

"As you wish." Kyo said as he walked to the other side of the room where a couple of glasses were located.

"Ok what is so special about him getting you both a drink and going back to your side?" the cougar chuckled.

Kyo got the drinks and walked up to Galle and handed it to him, Kyo then walked over to Icewaver's mother and handed her the cup. "Your drink ma'am." She smiled as she turned her head slightly. Kyo smiled as he leaned into her and kissed the wolf on the cheek. Icewaver looked at the cougar as he saw Bron's eyes widen. The human returned back to Icewaver but instead of walking up and standing to the wolf's side like before, Kyo walked up and lay onto the couch. The human rested his head on the wolf's lap, he moved a little to get comfortable as Icewaver moved his paw down to the humans head and started to pet him.

Icewaver looked down at his human and smiled. "And to think he does this all on asking and no punishment since we bought him at the auction."

"Bull shit." Bron said. "You had to do something to him to make him your pet."

"Well there is something I did do." The wolf said.

"See I knew it." he cougar said satisfied.

"I did this." He bent down and kissed Kyo. Bron started to blush as the alpha let out a loud laugh. It was a small chase kiss but still a kiss none the less, they broke apart but kept eye contact. "I show my pet kindness and love."

"How much?" Bron asked.

Icewaver quickly looked at the cougar. "Come again?" he asked.

"I said how much do you want for him." The cougar said as he leaned forward while looking at Kyo. "I always wanted a pet just that I can cuddle with at night and be able to serve me. He..." Bron pointed at Kyo. "Is perfect."

They both heard a laugh come from the alpha. Galle got up and walked over to the couch to sit on the opposite side of Kyo. He bent over and scoped the human up and placed him on his lap, with his arms around the human he gave Kyo a firm hug and started to lick the side of the human's face. Kyo started to laugh as he wrapped his arms around the wolf's neck and tried to hide his face from the wolf's licking. Icewaver watched as the cougar's leg started to get bouncy with anticipation.

Galle stopped his licking and looked firmly at Bron. "He's not for sale."

The cougar's ears flatted immediately at the wolf's voice. "But sir."

The wolf gave Kyo another tight hug. "This human isn't just some slave that works for us and is to be sold just because someone gave an offer." The alpha looked at Kyo. "He's important to my family but..." Galle's gaze turned to his son. "Not as important as to my son."

They all continued their conversations, while Bron looked like he was pouting about not getting Kyo. Soon Kyo and Icewaver was entering the dining room for dinner, Kyo was surprised that the tables were low enough that you had to sit on the floor. Icewaver wrapped his arm around Kyo as they both took a seat. Icewaver whispered into the human's ear. "I'm sorry pup but because of the way they do things here you won't be able to eat with me here tonight."

Kyo lay against the wolf. "I wouldn't worry about it master. I'll be fine." Even though it came from Kyo it didn't help the fact that Icewaver still felt sorry for his pet. Dinner was actually quicker than the two had thought. But through most of it Kyo noticed that was Bron still staring at him.

Icewaver leaned close to him once more. "I guess making him jealous worked."

Kyo chuckled. "I think a little too well master."

"Again I'm sorry, he's going to be all over you like bees to honey."

"But master." Kyo asked. "Why is he so jealous?"

Icewaver smiled at Kyo. "The last time I was here he mentioned about having a pet to sleep with every night. So I was hoping that it didn't change." He looked over at the cougar, which quickly looked away. "Guess I was right." The two laughed.

After dinner Icewaver decided to take a walk out into town and go sightseeing. Kyo of course had to go whether he wanted to or not, but luckily was happy to see more of the big city. After Icewaver showed some identification to the guards at the front gate the two were off. Icewaver was going to almost every store he saw, Kyo had a hard time trying to keep up with him. As they made their way through the main strip of town. Kyo noticed that even here the furs were staring at him, most likely due to the fact that he was the only slave in town that wasn't on a leash. Kyo passed around the corner quickly to keep up with his master when he bumped into a figure and fell onto the ground. Kyo closed his eyes when he hit the ground but slowly opened them and was surprised who he bumped into.

Tags stood over Kyo with a big smile as he offered out his paw and helped the human to his feet. Kyo was still in disbelief that the slave hunter was still standing in front of him.

"So I see that your making it just fine as a slave." He said as his smile grew.

Kyo started to smile as he knew now that the person he bumped was Tags. "Yes sir thanks to your advice, but I think I'm more than a slave to my master."

The wolf looked at Kyo confused. "Really?"

Kyo opened his mouth to speak but was soon picked up off the ground as Icewaver came out of nowhere. "Tags are you bothering my pup."

Tags laughed as he bowed in respect of the wolf. "I'm sorry young lord, I didn't know you became the master of this human."

"Yes." Icewaver said as he starts to nuzzle Kyo. "So father had you come to be in charge of the auction?"

The wolf sighed. "Yes, unfortunately for me he asked me to come. I was about to go out on another hunt but I couldn't pass down his orders, even if I'm being paid less." The mention of the hunts that Tags did on human villages made Kyo's smile fade instantly, even though things for him has been going good he still can't hide the fact that he still miss his home. Icewaver sees this and quickly changed the subject before his pet felt even worse than he already is.

"So has any of the nobles arrived yet?" Icewaver asked.

Tags scratched the back of his head. "Those ignorant pricks? Yeah about five have arrived."

Icewaver sighed. "That's only a fourth of what we thought would come."

Kyo looked back to the wolf a bit confused. "Is that a bad thing?"

Icewaver looked down at Kyo and smiled. "No not really, we would like them to be here so that the two clans can make deals with each other."

"Deals?" Kyo was still a little confused. "But I thought that the alpha was here to make deals."

Both Icewaver and Tags let out a laugh. Tags looked up at Icewaver. "He is smart you know."

Icewaver nodded in agreement. "Ok, yes father is here to make deals but on arm strength and negotiations when times of war comes, if it comes. We control around fifty nobles and it's their job to come here to and talk to the higher ups in the cougar clan about trading resources."

Kyo had a look that all of a sudden everything came clear to him. "Because the alpha doesn't have time to talk about resources and alliance, he has some of the nobles come and take some of the workload from him." He said.

The wolfnodded. "Something like that. The nobles can talk about what they want to trade but at the end they would need to talk to the alpha to make sure the trade of the two resources is reasonable."

Tags let out a loud laugh, "Yeah no shit, those assholes would trade their own mates to make a quick piece of gold."

Icewaver sighed. "Yeah I think one of them did that last time..." the wolf turned his attention back to his pup."Once our alpha says it's ok we would have to wait till the cougar noble gets an ok from their king, then the alpha and king will sit together to review the agreement. We have to be careful on what we trade, we don't want to trade our good crops for their not so good."

Kyo nodded. "That kind of makes sense. So what kind of stuff would be traded?"

Icewaver scratched the back of his head. "Well we have traded fruit for alcohol and copper for steel. Things like that."

Tags sighed. "I hate to say this in front of your pet, but the highest resources to be traded is slaves."

Kyo looked up at the wolf in shock. "Are we that valuable?"

Tags shook his head. "Yes and no, lots of furs like humans from different regions because of the different qualities they can have. That's partially the reason I'm here on the wolves behalf, but on the other hand if they are too hard to control the owners won't hesitate to kill them."

Kyo looked down at the ground. 'No wonder hunting humans is such an important thing to them.' He said to himself.

Icewaver gave Kyo a small lick on the side of his face. "Pup I think it's time we go back."

"Yes master." Kyo said as he turned to Tags and bowed. "It was a pleasure to see you again sir."

Tags let out a small chuckle. "No the pleasure is mine. Just remember what I said and everything will be fine."

Kyo stood back up straight. "I don't think I'm going to have to worry about that sir, I can't help but obey my master."

Icewaver picked up the human in a tight hug. "And I can't help but keep my paws off a slave like you."

Tags shook his head as he began to leave. "I will see you later young master." He bowed to Icewaver and then turned to head back to his own destination.

Icewaver let Kyo go and started to walk in front of him. "Race you to the palace." Kyo nodded. In a split second the two took off running, to the wolf's surprise Kyo was a fast long distance runner. The two was about neck and neck till half way, Kyo started to pull ahead slightly of the wolf. They came in view of the front gate when they saw three figures start to walk out of it. Kyo stopped immediately as the wolf slowed down. Kyo bowed and kept his eyes on the ground, Icewaver gave a small bow as well.

"Evening you highness." Icewaver said as he stood back up and looked at the king, his gaze wondered to the second cougar that was holding a leach to a slave. "Evening Bron." The wolf smiled.

Both cougars nodded at the wolf. "You're a bit reckless to have your slave outside the walls without a leach aren't you?" the king asked.

Icewaver smiled. "No lord Arister, my pup won't leave my side even if I told him to."

Bron looked at his slave then back at Kyo. "So you trained him to walk beside you without a leach."

Icewaver placed his arms around Kyo with a big smile. "Nope, I never had to train him on anything even though we bought him wild."

Bron looked mad as he tugged on the leach to tell his slave to move. "Let's go father."

Lord Arister looked back at the wolf. "Don't mind my son, he's just jealous that you have a perfect slave." Kyo couldn't help but look at the ground and blush when the king started to talk about him.

Icewaver bowed once more. "Thank you lord Arister."

The king smiled down at Kyo and started to walk up to his son as the two continued to make their way into town. Icewaver looked down at Kyo and smiled, "Let's go pup."

The two made their way back into the palace, Icewaver and Kyo walked into a lounge room where most of the family except for the alpha, and remaining cougar family were talking once more. Icewaver sat in a chair, Kyo was about to sit on the floor next to him till Icewaver's mother motioned him to sit next to her. Kyo sat next to the wolf as she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close. It was at the moment that Angelis walked in and spotted Kyo in her mother's arms.

"Oh so you will let mother touch you and not me?" she said to the human with her paws on her hips.

Icewaver sat forward with his elbows on his knees. "Well stop being a bitch all the time and maybe you might get someone that wants to be with you."

Angelis glared back at her brother. "I wouldn't be talking mutt, you're too busy fucking that human instead of finding a mate and getting a family like you should be. You wonder why father is displeased with you, now you know why."

Icewaver's eyeswidened. "That's not true, he never acted that way."

Angelis rolled her eyes. "Wake up shit head. He doesn't act that way around you in hopes that you will grow up and act like an alpha that you should be. Why do you think he gave you a slave for your own?"

"He's the families slave, not just mine." He argued.

"No shit, but before that. He got you him hoping that you would get more responsible, being captain of the guards isn't shit for work."

Icewaver looked down at the floor. 'That can't be why.' He thought.

"You can't be a pup your whole life, you need to grow up, find a mate, and get a family." She crossed her arms. "You think life is all about having fun and acting like a human child. Froshen acts more of an alpha than you do."

Kyo looked at his master as the wolf looked like he was about to break down. "You think everyone in the palace likes the way you act." She continued.

"Angelis!" The wolf looked over to see her mother in a foul mood. "That will be enough." At that moment Icewaver jumped up out of the seat and dashed out of the room. Kyo tried to get up and go after his master, but their mother kept a tight grip on him to keep him put."He'll be back, give him some space." She said gently. Kyo nodded but still couldn't help but worry about the wolf.

Angelis smiled as her brother left. "Maybe that will sink in..."

"Get out!" Angelis looked at her mother with her mouth open. "You heard me, leave and we'll talk about this when your father is here."

The wolf turned and stormed out. Icewaver's mother looked over at the cougars, "I'm so sorry for the way my family acted."

The queen cougar laughed. "It's a family, not all is perfect dear."

She nodded and they all continued their conversation, Kyo yawed in the middle of a talk about wine as the day had taken a lot out of him. "You tired." The cougar asked.

"Just a little your highness." Kyo said

The wolf bent down and kissed him on the cheek. "Then go rest." Kyo nodded as he got up, gave his good night kiss to the wolf and headed off to Icewaver's chambers knowing that he wouldn't be able to find him. As Kyo walked into the room he looked outside the window and sees that it was barely past sunset, even though he couldn't stop yawning.

Kyo Made his way to the bed and fell upon it, sleep swept threw him quicker than what he thought even though he was worried about his master.

Hours later Icewaver walked into the room, yawning from the late hour but his fur was matted down from the tears he was shedding earlier. As usual he took off his clothing and removes the blankets enough to get under them without disturbing his pet. The wolf moved close to the human as he wrapped his arms around his pup, 'He's so beautiful.' Icewaver thought as he stared at Kyo's face, the only light was from the moon shinning from the window. With a claw he gently brushed the human's cheek, 'Why can't I help but be with him, he's a pet but why do I feel different towards him?'

A tear started to form in his eye as he continued to stroke his pet's face. 'Damn it I know the reason...' he thought in frustration. 'But I can't feel that way towards a human, can I? My family wants me to have a family of my own, but if I follow my heart than I'll be with him.' The wolf placed his head on the human's shoulder as he started to cry. 'What am I going to do?'

Slowly a hand fell on Icewaver's cheek. The wolf leaned back and looks to see his human staring back at him.

"Master please stop crying." Kyo said as he looked as if he was about to cry himself.

Icewaver looked away. "Why? My father does hate me and I'm just a big fuck up."

The human wrapped his arms around the wolf. "Master please listen to me." He said. "I can tell you this that your father doesn't think less of you than any of your other siblings. He loves you and just wants you to be happy. Your sister is just trying to get under your fur, and you're letting her." Icewaver gave his pup a small smile.

"Thank you pup." The wolf said as he bent down and gave him a small kiss on the forehead. Kyo smiled back at his master as he burred his face in the wolf's chest. The two cuddled and held each other happily till they both fell asleep.
