Chapter 4 Meet Godlike Makers
March 7, 2484 / 0730 hours / Barungan system / planet Altair / Military base specialized for Black Rouge's and other special ops.
The place they took all of us to was very different form where any of us were living before that point. After we picked up some 23 others there were 24 of us at this building that we were supposed to sleep in from now on. After they showed us where to sleep the door closed and we were left in the dark next to our beds.
The next morning there was some guy yelling at us to "Get out of bed you lazy runts." For those who didn't get up and at attention. He shocked us with some stick, it hurt, a lot. Next he had us get dressed and go into a big room where there was this woman standing in the middle.
"Hello I am Dr. Orison. All of you are from different planets, the main five planets you all are from is Gavin, Oringa, Dedin, Linar, and Kinarth. The project you all will be involved with is called project 'Godlike'. Most of you were found in the aftermath of Arbodu attacking your home planet before they pulled out and bio-cleansed it. There are several of you who were able to dispatch an entire battalion, another who killed a regiment without help and one of you who destroyed two entire divisions and then fainted on the spot from exertion, The most surprising result was that one of you destroyed a company of Slicers. Those who were able to do this are those who have already seen their genetic differences from others and from the accounts of some of you it has been with you most of or all of your life. I'm sorry that what we predicted for age ten has begun so early. As some of you seem to have guessed by your annoyed expressions we are the ones responsible for you having these abilities..."
An outburst by someone who yelled "I was kicked out of my house and run out of town because of you!" I was called a freak by my own parents!" then one of the big men hit him with the stick that hurt, he then fell over and after he could move again got back into his seat.
"Yes I know you were ran out of town after you set your birthday cake ablaze with fire when you blew on it to put out the candles, I know that when you were being run out of town you then caused an earthquake, and I know that when you were crying about being run out of town you literally cried a river. I am sympathetic for you but as I said I am sorry and while I can't take back the powers, I can teach you to control them, that is all I can offer as proof of my sympathy and while some of you may never forgive me I know a great many of you will be glad after this is over and the powers are done developing that you have these powers and can defend the UCSC and its allies with your strength. Now I believe the trainers have some obstacle courses for you to run, and those of you with powers already there will have just as much trouble as those who have yet to develop them. DISMISSED!"
After going outside our trainers gave us numbers, I was Juli aka #111. We were paired up with 2 others who complemented our abilities that we have developed already and what is expected from current DNA, the possibilities were varied there was strength, speed, elements, defense, and the rarest of the main abilities, calling, it involved the shadows anywhere depending on what cast the shadow there were different attributes that they each had. There were sub-abilities that had also manifested in some of us, the most common one was faster regeneration but there was also telekinesis and improved reactions in bad situations the rarest was the ability to make yourself or anyone else virtually invisible.
I was paired up two others that who I got along with very well they had situations very similar to mine there was one who was strong enough to life things almost one hundred times his own weight, which was an impressive four hundred pounds of muscle. He was for the most part a loner that had a few friends that needed help moving heavy things in the shipyard. Another odd ability that he has is that he regenerates at an enhanced speed; a cut he gets is healed within the a few minutes, he was Daniel #047.
Then there was one that could control the four basic elements of air, water, earth, and fire. Other than that he was fairly average but he was more of a loner then any of us because he was called a freak by his own parents and run out of the town, when on his 4th birthday he developed those powers, he was Miguel #118
"In this you will be challenged to make it to the end of the course and get the orange, green, and purple gloves there are three each of them first team gets the orange, second grabs the green and third grabs the purple. I probably should tell you that all of you need to put on the gloves at the same time."
Looking over the course gave me an idea for how to get there but I wasn't sure if we could all 3 make it using that method so I let my eyes wonder over the course again till I saw there was a rope elevator about five hundred meters (1675 feet) away that took you most of the way to the finish. "Guys I see there is a rope pulley elevator now what that I can run to can then protect it from others and wait for you." "START!" and I was off there in probably about 15 seconds.
A little later there was a guy trying to take the elevator from me when Daniel came and hit him on the head. "Hmm, I was trying not to use my blades so I wouldn't kill him. Come on we need to get going up the elevator before other teams start to get there, start pulling and we can get there first, GO US." We started pulling as fast as we could but it ended up being that Daniel didn't need our help that much.
"Uh-Oh, we have a problem, I can jump but how are you..." Miguel used his powers over the elements to make the two of them float through the air towards the other side.
"Good, RUN, victory is ours." Sprinting ahead I tried to grab the gloves but it would only let me grab two of them the other was so heavy that only Daniel was able to pick it up. Then we put the gloves on and interestingly my suit then consequently activated. And for some reason the glove integrated into the suit.
"What just happened? Why is my suit integrating the glove into itself?..."
"Oh so the report that the Black Rogues gave was accurate you do have a suit that you made, very interesting. I was wondering could you come by my lab a little later I would love to study it." said Dr. Orison.
"NO. I made it and I'm not going to let you..." I was then hit over the back of the head and knocked out by the instructor. "Bring her to my lab she is either brilliant or lucky but no one else figured out the course nearly that fast. That suit of hers will be trouble and we need to get the glove off of her suit if we can."
Daniel started to go after them when a wall of fire erupted in front of Dr. Orison and the trainer, but then suddenly froze over and Miguel's own elements turned against him. "Did you think that you were the first? Not by a long shot, all of you have a counterpart among my trainers because they have the same DNA injected into them because there was no way that we could learn to control the powers in time if we didn't have some beta tests first. Don't try to stop me, the only one of you who doesn't have a counterpart exactly is Juli here and she was completely unexpected she wasn't even of our doing, she just happened."
"Ma'am should we take them back to the bunkers? Or continue on with the next training?"
"Continue on, but bring those two that were Juli's team mates they are different, they both have been loners but both just tried to save here despite just meeting her... I wonder..." walking off she wondered about the possible implications of this outcome.
For those of you who might be wondering, Juli is a reptilian, Gavins are a race entirely composed of, well, furries.
