Demon's Within: Intro, Chapter 1

Here's the re-write to my first series, Demon's Within. I've kept the main characters from the original but also added some new characters as well as switched up the story line to something that I feel would be better. The horror will still be there and I hope the suspense will be there as well.
Those that have read the original have a jump start on a few things, 'DON'T' ruin these things for the others that haven't read the original.

In the darkness sirens echoed throughout the city, fire trucks speeding toward the blazing flames that had engulfed the local school. It sat near the river that ran though the entire small town. The flames had devoured most of the two-story building, the windows had shattered and the entire roof had been covered. Crowds of furs and humans from the surrounding houses had already gathered around the fire and were being held off by police and fire-fighters, orders continued being shouted out by furs and human fire fighters to try and get the inferno into a controlled fire.
Some began to shout to just let the fire burn itself out, but they were drowned out by a human woman who continued shouting. A police fur tried to calm her down, but soon found out what had her so disturbed. The woman's children were still in the building, they had gone back to pick up something when the fire started and flared up.
Quickly the fur shouted out what the woman was saying to the fire fighters, they sprang into action and started to gather their masks and axes to go into the building. As the furs and humans got ready to run into the fire, they froze as a figure began walking out of the blazing fire, through the front door which was engulfed completely in flames.
The figure slowly became clear, a teenage human who was holding a younger human boy in his arms, the older human paid no attention to the blazing fire, walking through it as if it wasn't there and didn't even flinch as the schools roof caved in on itself. The human woman, screaming frantically, quickly shoved her way past the police and ran to the two boys, as did the fire fighting furs who made sure that the humans were alright as well that the fires didn't spread to the surrounding area. As the woman ran to her children she quickly grabbed the older human by his shoulders and began franticly asking if he was all right, though he just stared forward. As the woman looked down into his eyes her expression shifted to dread and she quickly hugged the child.
The younger human slowly began to open his eyes and looked up to see his mother hugging his older sibling. His brown eyes slowly shifted from his mothers face who was covered in tears to the older siblings ash covered face and his eyes quickly locked onto him, showing what could only be fear. His eyes shrank at the sight of the older child's face, something wasn't right and slowly the older human looked down, his eyes shifting down to look into the younger humans eyes seeing the fear that had been engraved into his face.
*Two years later*
Moving down the small dirt road, long green grass on either side of it, he looked around, seeing nothing but nature on both sides, grass plains then distant trees and finally far off mountains and hills, the young human looked forward again, seeing the small town in the distance. The human was walking down the road silently by himself, seeming to be lost in thought as he walked down the road. He looked to be going to school, a black book case in his left hand and the black pants and white shirt that looked to be a show of uniform. The human looked to be a normal teenage boy, brown hair that was slightly long and looked like it would soon need to be cut, lest his bangs cover his brown eyes. He was thin, not looking to be a very athletic boy from his thin frame but he wasn't sickly looking, just lean.
As he continued down the road he suddenly stopped and looked over his shoulder, he got the feeling that he was being followed though he saw nothing as the wind blew over the grass and trees creating a loud rustle of the leaves. Blinking at his sudden show of paranoia, he turned back around and nearly jumped out of his clothing as he looked down, seeing a small black panther anthro.
Jumping and falling back onto his back with a shout of sudden surprise, he stared up at the sky as he tried to feel his heartbeat without moving to make sure that it was still pumping. His eyes soon shifted to the left as the young panther girl moved to stand next to him, looking over him curiously. Her yellow cat eyes piercing right though him though her expression was that of a normal feline curiosity, her long slender tail swaying behind her as she smiled down at him sweetly.
"You know Fade.... you've gotta stop that or one day I'm gonna have a heart attack."
The panthers expression quickly changed and she looked worried as she crouched down, grabbing the humans arm, pulling him up and hugging him tightly as if he was going to suddenly disappear. This in turn made his face heat up slightly from the sudden show of affection but the blush quickly faded and his expression shifted to dread as a voice rang out.
"So, making moves on Fade huh Vencent, gotta say, never thought you'd be a paedophile," slowly turning and looking over his right shoulder he saw a tall female wolf standing behind him with a slightly smaller lioness standing next to her, holding her right paw over her muzzle.
"Vencent, how could you," came the lionesses voice as she gazed at Fade holding his arm.
"Uh...wait a min-" was all Vencent was able to get out as the wolf spun around, kicking him in the side of the head sending him sprawling out onto the ground. Now lying on his stomach, a stinging pain in the right side of his face, he suddenly felt as if he'd been framed for something he didn't do.
Laughter from the wolf sounded out as she walked past the human with the two felines, all three stopped and turned to wait for him however. "You'd better hurry up Vencent, can't be late for school" the wolf said with a big smile.
Slowly, he raised his head to look up at the three females in front of him. Fade, being the small black panther who looked to be around ten years old and nearly a foot and a half smaller than Vencent. Her fur was all black and shone beautifully in the sunlight along with her black almost deep blue hair that flowed down around the base of her tail. Her piercing yellow eyes that could captivate anyone who looked directly into them and were almost always able to pierce straight though someone even when she was looking at them innocently. She was a thin girl and didn't talk much to anyone except for the furs and human present. On the end of her tail were two small bells that she had always had tied and no matter how much noise one would think they'd make she can still sneak up on someone, Vencent's 'tie a bell around the cat' plan didn't seem to work.
The wolf was three inches taller than Vencent himself, with a fine grey coat with a white under belly that started from just under her muzzle, leading from there down to the inside of her thighs and to the tip of the underside of her tail. Her eyes were a fine green that showed nothing but energy, as did her athletic build even though she had quite a sizeable chest. Her body was toned, though one couldn't tell unless the light hit her right, but once they did they were very noticeable. Her energized nature was only rivalled by her ability to lose her cool and just explode completely on anything unlucky enough to set her off, which most of the time was Vencent.
The last female being the slightly smaller lioness, who stood nearly eye level with Vencent, her fur was a right golden tan with a lighter tan underbelly like a normal lioness. Her head fur however being a dark brown that was tied back into dread locks that flowed back behind her head and hung around her shoulders. Her eyes were a light blue that stood out more than anything else on her, her body build was lean and her feminine parts were normal for her size, if not just a little smaller though she didn't seem to dwell on that fact much. Her eyes and expression were always shy and averted, even for her above average height she was always withdrawn and hid behind her wolf friend who would jump into fire to protect her without a moments hesitation.
All three girls were dressed in white collared shirts, with long dark green skirts that hung down near their ankles, though each made subtle changes to stand out. The wolf wearing a black sleeveless vest that was always open, mainly to show off her chest, the lioness having tied a crimson sash around her hips that hung loose, Fade wearing a dark blue skirt instead of the green ones like the other two.
Pushing himself up slowly and suddenly being picked up by the arms by the lioness and wolf, he looked up at the wolf that smiled happily down to him.
"I didn't kick you that hard did I, Vencent," she asked happily while brushing his back off, along with the lioness.
"You always hit him too hard Isa, you've gotta be nicer," the lioness protested in Vencent's defence, making the wolf laugh.
Vencent patted his sides quickly before moving forward and spinning around to the two females. "Don't worry about me Sasha, Isa's little baby taps won't hurt me," he boasted while flexing his right arm and winking at the lion, Sasha, in turn, lowered her muzzle and averted her eyes in an obvious blush, Isa, the wolf, however, stepped forward with a playful growl.
"Baby taps, huh," she asked which shifted Vencent's show of confidence into an uneasiness as Isa started toward him with a fist held at her side.
"Uh, down girl...." Vencent said, before spinning around and taking off down the dirt road, Isa charging after him, shouting out "Wolf" as he fled.
