righto you know the drill under 18's are not allowed, if you are under 18, then you are Naughty and should be very careful XD, (there is going to be an explaination to my lag between the chapters on my userpage!)
Paul's morning was a blur, the only thing he could remember clearly was kissing Eve goodbye and promising her that he would be back soon. Then he was having a quick breakfast of some fish and a handful of red berries that he was told by Ignitus that would give him energy. He didn't care what it gave him, he was hungry and that was all that mattered.
Then he was riding shotgun on Ignitus and Terrador was accompanying them to the ‘Chronicler's Island' were the legendary Chronicler lived. Paul did not know how long the trip would take, so he just shut his eyes and took a cat nap.
When Paul awoke from his cat nap they were descending towards the island as they got closer to the island Ignitus told Paul that the Chronicler was looking forward to meeting him, and that he and Terrador would only be dropping Paul off at the island, they were going to fly back to the Temple and were going to pick him up after the Chronicler had finished his Business with Paul.
Paul was about to protest about being stranded on the island but he kept it to himself as Ignitus landed and they walked towards a large stone archway where Ignitus and Terrador stopped and bade Paul farewell, instructing him that the Chronicler was going to meet him just down the hallway.
Paul walked though the Archway and into a dim corridor and almost instantly he felt that something was not right and that he was being followed so he stopped, before he could blink several figures dropped from the ceiling and materialized from the shadows to surround him.
"Oh... come on, I can't even walk down a corridor without being attacked" Paul said as the figures rushed him and started to attack
Paul was quick to react but not before he was grabbed from behind in a choke hold, Paul knew that from hand to hand combat training and Karate that he had only several seconds to break the hold or he would black out. So he reacted as he was trained to,
Paul crouched down to throw his attacker off balance and twisted his head to
keep his airway clear and grabbed what he thought was the attacker's wrist and twisted it. So that he was now behind his attacker holding its wrist and with his free hand his brought his palm down onto the elbow breaking the attackers arm and making it howl in pain. He quickly let go of his attacker and quickly kicked it in the back of the legs with a side kick putting it on the ground, out of the corner of his eye he saw that of the figures was coming to attack him from the side, he spun to face it and lunged bending his knees and driving a punch straight into its abdomen it doubled over in pain and he finished it with a knee to the head.
As soon as the figure dropped to the ground the rest of the group started to jab at Paul's defenses trying to tire him out and make him force a mistake and open his guard. Then one of the figures tried to attack him with a dagger, Paul saw this and side-stepped and grabbed the figure's wrist, he then pulled its wrist back throwing it off balance and making it stumble forward, as Paul did this he brought up his knee into its chest and it dropped instantly, he grabbed the dagger and looked around him to his surprise the rest of the figures had disappeared, although a rather large silver dragon was looking at him.
"I see that you had defeated my guards that I had posted here" exclaimed the silver Dragon looking down at the groaning figures that lay on the ground.
"I presume you are Paul? Am I correct?" continued the Dragon as it looked at Paul standing in a fighting stance with the dagger in one hand, ready for any more surprise attacks.
"You are correct dragon, my name is Paul" replied Paul in an even tone, not giving anything else away.
"And who are you dragon?" continued Paul
"I am the Chronicler, my ancestors helped the guardians though time of difficulty and we also record the history of the Dragon Realms, I also help the Guardians and record the history until I must pass on the role to another dragon"
The Chronicler continued "now we must go Paul, you have much to do while on my island and it is important that you complete those tasks before you leave."
Paul was un-reluctant to follow the Chronicler but he soon found out that it was useless to argue as he did not have any way of getting off this Island, so he finally gave up and he walked over to the Chronicler.
"So do any of these tasks involve me to fight anything?" Paul asked the Chronicler as they walked down the long corridor.
"Some tasks do, Paul as is the first task you are going to undertake needs you to fight" As they turned into a large stone archway leading into a torch lit room. "Please take a weapon from one of the racks, choose carefully Paul once you pick up a weapon you will be transported to the Testing Room." the Chronicler Explained as he left the Room leaving Paul to choose a weapon.
Paul walked into the room and over to a rack of Weapons, What he saw amazed him, there were Quarter-staffs, longbows, short swords, Long swords, throwing knives, daggers and several pairs of armored Gauntlets*(if you don't know what these are look at the note at the bottom of this chapter) that had several metal spikes protruding from it.
After several minutes of thinking, Paul reached out to the rack and picked up one of the several short swords that were on the rack and several throwing knives, the instant he picked it up he felt himself being teleported to the testing room he closed his eyes and waited for the sensation of being teleported to end.
When the sensation stopped Paul opened his eyes, he found himself in a gigantic cavern he quickly got his bearings and prepared himself for a fight. His jaw dropped at the sight of what he had to fight, a massive evil looking dragon, it looked angry............ very angry.
"The Guards were one thing, now this is just madness..." Paul exclaimed as he looked wide eyed at the enemy that he was supposed to defeat.... The dragon roared swinging its deadly looking barbed tail aiming it at Paul, he ducked just in time and the dragon's tail flew over his head missing it by mere millimeters
He ran as hard as he could towards a large stone pillar; he took cover behind it, crouching down Paul quickly started to think of a battle plan, well the dragon's scales were probably it's amour of such so any knives, swords, maces and anything else that you might attack a gigantic dragon is practically useless against it.......Unless I can get under the dragon then I might be able to do some considerable damage to it, and if THAT does not work then I will have to aim for the eyes of the dragon, Paul thought to himself as he quickly thought of a battle plan and some sort of strategy to kill the dragon. Well if I am going to get underneath or attack its eyes I am going to need some kind of diversion or distraction...... Paul looked around the room for a distraction or diversion. The only thing that Paul could see that could be used as an distraction were the pillars, and they were too Large to collapse without explosives, like a hand grenade or something like that, unless.... An armored dragon's tail could damage the pillar enough for a sword to pry a crack wide enough to collapse the pillar.
The only thing I need to do now is to get the dragon to hit one of the pillars hard enough, but how I am I going to do that? Paul thought as he peeked around the side of the pillar and looked around for the dragon got it! I will have to run to a pillar and try to attract the dragon's attention and make it attack me, hopefully it will swing it's tail at me and attempt to take me out with it, sounds good enough let's do it! Paul thought as he prepared to sprint across the room to a pillar on the other side.
Paul broke from his cover at the pillar and sprinted across the room; the dragon however saw this and roared loudly. Paul swore, the dragon had spotted him and it was not happy, Paul kept on sprinting adrenaline pumping though his body, he reached the pillar and stopped and turned to face the dragon, he pulled out a throwing knife and prepared to throw it at the dragon, it roared loudly and reared up on it's hind legs, Paul waited for the moment to throw the knife.
He threw the knife just as the dragon was at it's full height standing up on it's hind legs and roaring, the knife sailed though the air the knife struck with a dull thud! The knife imbedded right up to the hilt... right into the dragons eye......
There was no roaring in pain... the knife blade pierced though the eye and hit the brain of the dragon, killing it instantly...... the dragon's body crashed to the ground blood pooling around the dragon's Head with the knife still protruding, Paul walked slowly towards the fallen dragon, he crouched beside the head of the dragon and grimly removed the knife..... Blood started to pour out of the eye slicking the knife and coating Paul's hand.
Paul wiped the blade clean on his pants and he sheathed the knife, then he leaned on the side of the dragon exhausted after his battle, as he closed his eyes to fall asleep he saw............. The chronicler calmly coming towards him. Then he lapsed into unconsciousness.
Paul sat up; he was in a large magnificent hall the only thing he remembered was defeating the dragon in the cavern, he looked around and saw that there was a large pool in the centre and there was several books that were floating above it, one of the books were open and the chronicler was busily studying the open book.
Paul slowly got up and slowly and unsurely walked towards the pool where the chronicler was looking over the book.
"very good work on defeating the dragon that I had set up for the test, you are very good at thinking on your feet" exclaimed the chronicler looking up from the book.
"When you appeared in this realm, the dragon history changed, it was foretold that a great hero would appear in this realm and be transformed." Continued the chronicler, looking Paul straight in the eye, and that hero is you Paul......
Paul was shocked, he did not want to be transformed into some great hero, he wanted to stay as he was and he did not want to change
The Chronicler walked away from the open book and to the pool, "Paul you are the hero in the tale, you need to be transformed to save the realms... you are the only one to save us from the great evil that is about to be bestowed onto these lands!"
There was a burst of light that appeared out of the pool, it started twisting and turning around his body, Paul felt his body being covered by the light and his body changing.
The light started to pulse and grow brighter, the Chronicler who was watching Paul intently now could not see him at all, the only thing he could see was the bright pulsing light.
Then at what seemed the climax the light suddenly seemed to implode in on itself with Paul still in the centre. But as fast as the light came over Paul and surrounded him, the light disappeared leaving a large- unidentifiable shape in its wake.
The shape started to groan and move slightly, the Chronicler rushed over to the shape and supported it back onto its legs.
As the chronicler did this.... He suddenly gasped.
The shape was Paul.......but he was no longer human, Paul was now a dragon....
to be continued.......
