In beautiful San Diego, California stood one of the most famous hotels of all time, The Citrus Hotel. Named after the delicious oranges available just behind the hotel that they'd often make orange juice out of. A simple name but it wasn't only famous for that. There was a furry convention that they would host every year, and it quickly became one of the biggest conventions in the nation. It was well run, the staff was always friendly, good entertainment, and all around an enjoyable time for all those who attended. It wasn't just that though.

The convention the Citrus Hotel held had more...transformative properties. A generous donation was given to the hotel by someone who referred to themselves as "LabRat29" that would change the game for the hotel and the convention. Long story short they had gotten their hands at technologies capable of transformations, which made the conventions a lot more "realistic." As opposed to people walking around in costumes they could actually walk around as anthropomorphic animals. This was of course optional (as with wearing "fur suits") and it added a bit of fun to the convention, and because of it the Citrus Hotel became most known for that.

While it started with just the convention, the hotel itself started offering packages for vacations that would let its patrons stay in the hotel transformed in these anthropomorphic forms. At the end of their stay they would return to their normal bodies and be on their way home. With a small fee and some paper work, they could keep the bodies outside the hotel for as long as they wanted. Due to this, anthropomorphic animals started becoming a part of society like you see in comics and TV shows. While humans still far outnumbered them they became common enough that they weren't given a second thought.

Of course that's not what this story is about. The Citrus Hotel was making preparations for the 2016 convention and the organizers (who at this point were collaborators with the hotel itself) were determined to make this year's convention the best one yet. Of course it would take a lot of work, and they had to gather much more volunteers than previous cons. Luckily the Citrus Hotel had a large venue thanks to a few expansions with the profits they got from hosting the con. Rather than a narrator tell you what the convention has in store this year, why not have Elizabeth Glide tell you? Who's Elizabeth Glide? She's only the woman who founded the convention many years ago!

"Hey I'm Elizabeth Glide, but most people just call me Lizzie. I'm currently 29 years old, started this convention when I was just 19. The reason for that is that there really weren't many furries that were open about being just that around this part of San Diego, and it's a big city. Fantastic city, wouldn't want to live anywhere else but here. With a big city like it you just know there are going to be more than a handful of people that are into the things you are. I didn't expect it to ever reach the popularity that we have today though! The fact that people fly out just to be here is the most humbling thing to me. Then when that "LabRat29" donated that transformation equipment on our third year it made it THE furry convention to go to. No other place has what he have here, and that's why this convention is my baby. I care for it, and make sure each year is bigger and better in the last. I can't take all the credit though, the team I have every year really makes what started out as a dream a reality, including my husband, of whom I met on the 5th year of it! "Come on, I'll show you how we do things around here!"

"We're actually starting to set up today. It's not going to be for a while as it takes a lot of time to set up, and the Citrus Hotel is generous enough to loan us the venue for a few weeks to make sure it's perfect. And hey, the revenue they get from it is quite a bit, lot of profit for them! Since a lot of the staff is obviously well, furries, a lot of the time they want to be their characters for the con if they aren't always in that form. As a matter of fact there's Kelly! He helps with a lot of the metaphorical "heavy lifting," very good and making sure people are where they need to be. We actively encourage the volunteers to become their anthropomorphic forms while we're setting up so their used to it. He's not in it yet so why don't we check it out? We use this weird computer program that was donated to us where using a picture and a webcam-esc emitter, it'll turn the person into the form that's in the picture. Cool stuff! Oh, looks like Kelly's about to go through with his change! This'll be a quarker to watch!

Kelly brought up the picture of the character he intended to be for the duration of the convention and got ready for the device to do its magic. It read Kelly's proportions as the machine started up, the changes beginning. His body quickly became adorned with very faded blue feathers over most of his body, save for his knees and below. His nose and mouth both fused together as they turned grey, hardening and pushing out into a beak. Black feathers covered all of Kelly's head, ending at his chest. His eyelashes became more pronounced while his hair became stuck up feathers, somewhat resembling a mohawk. His shoulders narrowed down while his arms became slender. Not only that, more feathers formed all over his arms to make them part wings as well. His figure contorted itself into an hourglass shape, wide hips, pronounced rear, caved in waist and back, the full package. His legs hardened as they became a grey color, his feet becoming much larger as they obtained talons and became much more avian in nature. Tail-feathers matching his wing feathers formed at his backside. Kelly's manhood sucked back in while two mounds formed at HER chest, marking the end to the changes.

"That was something huh? She goes by 'Kelowna' while like this. She's actually worked with many conventions, very handy team member! She's a good one! Quite nice to so if you see her walking, or maybe flying around say hi! It might be harder if she's flying around but I digress! She's only one of our many, many team members that help make this event happen! Kelowna does a lot of stuff behind the scenes you don't really see, that's mainly why I wanted you all to see him!"

"And would you look at that! There's Cody! He's the one in charge of all the booths, what goes where and who shares signing tables. It's a research heavy job to ensure all our vendors and special guests are always around people that they'll have good chemistry with. He's really good at his job to, a lot of people come up to me and thank me for putting their booths where they were because they became such good friends with the people running the neighboring booths. I always direct all that to Cody, I don't want to take all the credit for putting together this fantastic event! Here's the fun part of Cody though. Each year he lets a coin toss decide if he's going to go male or female for the con. It's always a treat to see what he chooses each year. There's even a small pool of what sex he'll end up with each year. I usually win it to! Let's watch to see if I win again or not!"

Cody sat in front of the same computer Kelowna sat at earlier and pulled a coin out from his pocket. He prepped it and tossed it up in the hair, catching it in his hand and revealing the result on the back of his other one. It had landed on tails. After that, he made sure everything was set up and once it was, the changes began.

Cody's arms, torso, and head quickly grew light brown fur all over them. His ears became much larger, becoming triangular in shape as they moved to the top of his head. His hair grew out, turning blonde as it reached just past his shoulders while his face pushed out into a muzzle, his nose becoming black at the tip of it. Whiskers formed on Cody's new muzzle shortly after. His shoulders slumped down while his arms became more slender. Two mounds formed at his chest while womanhood found itself replacing Cody's manhood, the term "'he" much less fitting now. Cody's legs hardened as they became covered in green scales. Her feet became much larger as the nails turned into claws. A long and thin tail found it's way behind Cody, as did two large dragonic wings. Lastly two green horns formed on her head, ending the changes off.

"Guess it was female this time. Dang it, lost the pool! Stupid coin toss. She goes by Xoie if she goes female, Xodiac if male. Guess it's going to be Xoie for the con. She's going to spend most of the time backstage until the vendors come, set up the floor plan of the convention and all that. You'll probably she her more once it's almost time for the convention to begin. We won't bother her with questions or anything, she has enough of her plate already."

"And here's someone I personally see a lot, my husband everyone! Steve Glide!"

"Uh...hi. I didn't know the film crew was going to be here today..."

"Relax, they're just hear to see all of our preparations that we do each day. They already saw Kelowna and Xoie."

"Cody went female this year?"

"Yup."

"Hey! I won the pool!"

"I lost it but I'm basically giving the money right back to myself!"

"Heh, I guess. Did you need me for something?"

"You could explain what we do with the transforming tech."

"Okay...well, we have this picture of an anthro couple, a mouse and a ferret. I'm always the ferret and Lizzie is always the mouse."

"But the machine has trouble identifying the sex of the couple, so it'll make us a random gender. So sometimes I'm a male mouse and sometimes a female mouse."

"Same for me but replace ferret with mouse. Either way it's always nice to have fur for the convention again."

"We're no exception to the "anthrotized before the con" rule so why don't we show the cameras hun?"

"If you insist, it's your project."

"I just gave the ok!"

"Let's just do our changes hm? Hehe."

"Fine, let's go for it. You'll probably want a wide angle so you can catch both of us"

Both Lizzie and Steve got everything ready as they both began to change. Steve's body grew white, dark grey, and light brown fur all over his body in the fur pattern you'd see on a typical ferret. His ears became triangular and moved to the top of his head while his face pushed out into a small muzzle, his nose becoming pink at the tip of it. Steve's chest pushed out into two breasts while manhood left him down below, leaving him undeniably female. Her legs took on a digitigrade posture as a long, thin tail came out from behind her. Steve's hips and rear widened out while her waist narrowed, giving her the hourglass shape you'd see on a woman.

On the other side of the spectrum Lizzie's body grew thin white fur all over while her feet became much larger. Her hips and rear both became less pronounced as her waist became larger, Lizzie's hourglass shape leaving her for a more "flat" one. Manhood found it's way between her legs while her breasts became flat with her chest, Lizzie now "playing for the other team." A thin pink tail came out from behind him while his arms became a bit more bulkier. His shoulders became much more broad and pronounced as his hair became much shorter. Lizzie's ears became triangular and moved to the top of my head while his eyes turned a bright red color. His face pushed out into a small snout and his nose became black at the tip, now the mouse man.

"Looks like it chose to swap our genders this time around! I still go by Lizzie when this happens, I just like the name too much!"

"I usually do Steph, sounds almost the same but not entirely."

"Same lovable husband!"

"Thanks, hehe..."

"As much as I'd like to stay with Steph here it's getting kind of late. When the cameras come back I'll show you some of the people that run booths and contests around here! So stay tuned!"

The Citrus Hotel and the convention staff both allow guests of the hotel to see it being set up and all the magic that goes on there. A lot of the kids like seeing the transformed con staff because it's a very cartoon-like experience, considering many animated shows featuring walking, talking animals. Some of them ask the anthros if they can pet their fur, and they always happily oblige to make the children's day. With the parents permission they're allowed to use the transformative devices to become just like their cartoon heroes. Sometimes quite literally, say if they wanted to turn into Bugs Bunny or something of the sort they would be able to do that. A lot of the time the kids found themselves becoming their own little toons. There are actually more kid-friendly options with the devices donated to the hotel and convention, making the transformation options easier for the young ones to understand. You don't really see a lot of kids changes genders as much as the adults do, and what is referred to as "TG" is rarely seen with them.

Speaking of which, it looks like a family are going to use the device. This happens occasionally. It's usually the child's idea and since there's no harm in it, parents will usually oblige, their siblings depending on their age will almost always agree. The hotel offers special treatments for the transformed, namely if they became part animal such as special spa treatments. The kids aren't left out of this, there's a large play area that's designed just like if you were in a cartoon. They love it and adults love it so they can have a relaxing spa day. Let's see what the family from earlier decided to become.

The husband's body grew green and white feathers all over while his nose and mouth fused together into a beak and turned yellow as his hair retracted back into his feathers. His hands seemed to get a bit larger as they started to resemble wings now. His legs hardened and turned yellow while his feet became much larger and webbed. From behind the husband, a small tuft of feathers formed leaving him with tailfeathers, the husband now a duck man.

The wife's body grew a light white color fur as her feet turned into paws. A bushy white tail came out from behind her, almost as big as her body while her hands now only had 4 digits. Her ears became larger and more "floppy" as they moved farther up her head. Her nose became a bit larger and turned a pale pink color while her face pushed outward into a small muzzle. The wife had become a mink woman.

Both the kids, a boy and a girl had near identical transformations. Their bodies grew blue and pink fur respectively, as their faces pushed out into a muzzle as their noses became black and wet. Their ears became larger and triangular as they moved to the top of their head while a bushy tail formed behind them. Their legs took on a digitigrade posture as they feet became padded paws, making them both canines. The new family on anthros went on seeing what else the con was setting up before they would go back and enjoy the hotel's offers more.

It looks like some of the vendors are going to be coming to set up their booths today. Lizzie likes the vendors to show up a bit earlier than normal patrons so that she can explain how everything is going to work that year. For newcomers to the venue, she explains about all the craziness that is possible at the convention. Some vendors quickly adapt to the transformation technology, transforming as soon as they know about it while some prefer to ignore it and just do their job. Let's go over to Lizzie to explain more.

"Hello again! A few of the vendors arrive a bit on the early side, and they do have bigger booths than some others to their credit. With the ever-growing popularity of the convention many companies who don't even know what a "furry" is still show up just to help build their brands. Some bigger companies have even stepped in to get a bit of the action, some of them going as far as to sponsor the event! Starting all those years ago I never thought these big name companies would even consider doing such things! It makes this already humbling adventure all the more humbling!"

"One of the sections that are constantly getting larger is the Game Developer booths. Video game are great fun, sometimes angry fun but fun none the less! I may or may not of made Steve sleep on the couch a few times for stealing a star from me while playing Mario Party. Sorry, not about that! Heh! We have a lot of indie developers come here to promote their various games to the many patrons on of the con. They bring demos, concept art, interactive games, merchandise, tons of things to make the patrons interested in following their games or in some cases buying them. This year we have a whole section dedicated to gaming, and we're projecting a big interest in the area this year so we are making sure it's fully prepared and can run smoothly throughout the whole convention."

"Like the other booths, sometimes those running them enjoy transforming themselves. Granted some of them do it for contract reasons. Kind of a way to connect with patrons of the con more I suppose. I don't personally approve of it but there's not much I can do really. It's only temporary so it's not too bad I suppose. They signed up to be with that company. Majority of them don't mind it, but we always get the handful that do. We try out best to make sure everyone's happy, vendor or not."

"Speaking of vendors one of our senior ones just came in! He goes by Ratchet. He runs one of the bigger booths in the video game area. Specifically he works in the Game Developer's Booth, talking about well, game development. He's one of the booth operators that enjoy the transformations that can happen, and even has his own little character he likes to become for the duration of the con."

He made his way to the transformation equipment and entered in his usual presents and got the transformation rolling. Ratchet's body grew black fur with neon blue highlighting it while his legs took on a digitigrade structure and his feet became a pair of padded paws. On top of that, Ratchet's legs took on a shapely tone while his hips grew out to child-bearing proportions. A bushy tail came out from behind him as his rear became more pronounced. Ratchet's manhood vanished replaced with an opening down there. Two breasts formed at his, now her chest while her arms became slender and shoulders lost their broadness. Her face pushed out into a muzzle and her hair grew longer, reaching the middle of her back, a streak of green going down it. Ratchet's eyelashes elongated as her voice took on a higher pitch, now what she dubbed as a "rave fox."

"There she is. Ratchet likes that form a lot, been doing that every year. Fun fact was originally a contract situation where she needed to be like that for the con but now she does it despite not being with that company anymore. She's a prime example of original anthro-ized for contract reasons to embracing it. Doesn't happen for all of them but hey we get all the wins we can get here!"

"Speaking of which there's another anthro enthusiast! He refers to himself as "Rune." He doesn't have much to do with the gaming area but he's close to it. Rather, Rune runs one of our many booths that sell merchandise. In particular he sells plush toys. He has animals both "feral," which is what most people consider "normal" animals as well as anthropomorphic ones like you've seen around today. Both of them prove quite popular, especially for the kids since it's like they get to take a piece of the magic home. There's some fun games that go on at the booth where patrons can win free stuff to! You'll see more of that in action later, for now it looks like Rune's going to be transforming! Let's check it out!"

Rune did what the many did before him and started changing. His skin hardened and turned to scales, while fur grew out of other places, majority of his body being blue while his front was white. His ears became much longer as they became pink on the insides, his hair turning a green-ish blue with black there as well. His teeth became buck while two large dragonic wings emerged from behind him. A long yet thin tail came out from behind him as a white tuft of fur formed at the tip, now a dragon rabbit hybrid.

"Hybrids you don't see a lot of surprisingly. There's a handful yes but they're a smaller majority, here at the convention at least. There's Rune and you say Xoie earlier, her being a goat coyote. Either way, Rune's a nice fellow. Kids like his tail a lot, very fluffy that thing is. There are a lot more booths and vendors that'll be here later on, but I'll keep all that as a surprise until the convention! It'll be much more exciting to see once it's all ready for the public! There is one more thing to showcase before we have a bit more on the hotel and then after that you get to see the convention in action!

"Alright, so as you know conventions usually have cosplay contests and such but with transformations going on it seems pretty...well you know. BUT because of it we have a special form of cosplay contest. We have two, those for the transformed and those who aren't. The ones who aren't are just the traditional one, the usual let's say. Then we have the transforming contest. Basically what happens is with a device donated to us by "LabRat29" people can enter generic presents to try and create the character as close to the original as possible. If you ever played Mario Party it's like that one game where they mess up Mario's face and you have to get it as close as possible. It's a fun thing that a lot of patrons love being apart of, plus it can be funny to see how bad some of them come out."

"And there we have our runner of the cosplay contest! Blake, right now he goes by that anyway. He used to enter the contest a lot, usually the non transforming one but one day he dipped his toe in the transforming one and fell in love. After winning a few years in a row I offered him the position and he accepted it happily. He does a different change each year so it's always a treat to see. Looks like he's getting ready to change, let's watch!"

Blake's body became more slender, with a bit of an athletic build, some muscle forming on him. His feet morphed into paws as his body became coated in grey and black fur. His rear built up more mass as his hips followed building up into child-bearing sizes. A bushy tail formed behind him matching the rest of his fur while Blake's manhood retreated into his body, converting itself to be the opposite of what it was. His, or rather her chest began to swell out reaching the C cup range of breasts while her waist narrowed out. Her shoulders lost their broadness while her face pushed outward into a muzzle, her nose becoming wet at the tip. Blake's hair lengthened and her eyes took on a yellow color, now a Mightyena woman.

"And there's Blaire! She goes by that if she goes female. Similar name, why bother making it super different? It works. Nothing against people who do that of course. Anyways, she's a really good MC, even if she is shy off-stage. Credit to her because when the time comes she really steps up and "turns it on." The contest is kind of a spectacle ever since she took it over, and it does a lot for the convention's image and makes sure the hype is as the kids say, "real."
