First off I don't own any chars from Digimon Series, however I do own a char named Al and Sarah. I apologize first hand if there are Spelling and Grammar Errors. More over please enjoy the story.

Chapter 12: Gift of Installment

Everyone went back to Al's house, passing the same road they took before. They saw more activities on the street; the ladies were walking carrying some groceries, a young teenager walking at least three dogs, some people tending their yard whether by trimming the bushes or watering the flowers, two or three cars pass by every 45 minutes and counting. It really was a normal day for them, but for Al it was a special day. He wanted to celebrate it but with all the allowance and the economical problems, he can't fulfill his wishes and thus he went silent and kept on walking.

By the time they arrived at Al's house it was almost lunch time. Al was wondering what kind of lunch Sarah is preparing, but then again he make her cry and he guessed that she didn't prepare the lunch because she is too busy pulling herself together. Al sometimes felt guilty yelling at his mother when he felt uncomfortable; as they say a mother will always be a mother and you've got to respect her for raising us. When all of them entered the house, they heard someone is cooking for their lunch. To Al's surprise that it was his mother Sarah is cooking some lunch for all of them, ‘That was a new record, usually it takes more time for her to recover.' "Mom, I'm back with the guests."

His mother looked at Al first then the guests and back at Al again, "Welcome back, dear. I'm sorry for telling your sad story again in front of the strangers."

Al then looked away from her face for a moment and then looked back at Sarah, "Its okay, mom. I was wrong as well for yelling at you if I'm in a bad mood. But everything is settling now, mom, and the guests probably want to have something to eat as well."

Sarah gave a light smile either relief from any burden or hearing part of my sentences. Then she looked back at her cooking, "Well the food isn't ready yet, it might take a while though."

"That's all right, Mrs. Revenant. I still have something to do with your son here. Do you mind if I excuse myself?" said Takato with a cheerful voice. "Show me to your room, kid. I need to plug something for your computer." Al showed the way to his room to Takato while bringing the package they brought before.

"In that case, Yolei and I will help you with the cook, Mrs. Revenant," said Kari and start washing her hands.

Takato and Al went into Al's room. He was amazed of how spacious the room was, and yet less furniture. Takato looked around a bit and saw the computer. He then rushed to the computer and start preparing something. "Right, here goes nothing." Takato open the package and taking out almost all items inside it. There were VR goggle, control pad, slots, cable connectors, high speed satellite modem, portable, and CD program. "First I will plug all the necessary cable you will use for the game. The cable that connected to the screen will be divided so that you can use monitor or VR goggle, but I recommended you to play with VR goggle since it is equipped with headset and microphone so we can communicate inside the game." Takato remove the wire and placed an additional wire so the goggle can be used.

"Next up, the control pad and the slot will plug in the same additional place, noticed the end of the slot cable? There's a slot as well to plug the control pad." He shows it to Al for a moment and Al nodded in understanding. Then continue the process and plugged the slot and the control pad. "Last is to turn on the computer and ready the installment." He turned on the computer and waited for password confirmation. Al input the pass code and Takato began to browse his computer. "Wow, you're a gamer. I can see some racing game, fighting game, and even RPGs."

Al feeling kind of embarrasses replied, "That is true, at least I had enjoyed the game since I was bored to death. But in the end I'm getting tired from those games."

"Well that is true, it's always the same and nothing changes. But for this game, I can guarantee that you will like it since this will be your side job that is. Other than that, just enjoy the game." Takato then put the CD into the tray and the disc began to read. However the capacity was over limit and with Al's permission, Takato began to delete all the games that were installed in his computer and thus leaving lots of space for the game to be installed. While on the waiting list, Takato began to plug the modem and start the connection add up. "Good, while we wait for the game is completely installed. I will tell you about the modem. This modem is made for a high speed game and it was connected via satellite, the great part of it was the signal was extremely excellent and didn't affect by weather change. Also it is safe to use since it was design for all of us to use it anyway, I mean no wave radiation or anything that makes you ill. The connection itself is using special code that has been provided by Gennai, so whenever you are connected to the internet, it is free of charge and of course free of virus." After adding up the connection Takato looked back at the install process. "Well it's still a long way from finish and I'm beginning to feel hungry. Let's get some food then we come back later."

The foods are all set in the table. Kari, Rika, Yolei Suzie, and Sarah already sat in their own chair, talking about everyday life. Takato and Al had return from Al's room and sat on an empty chair. Al looked at the food and to his surprise there were so many of it, enough for at least 10 people. "Mom, don't you think you've cooked too much?"

"I know, but it is our efforts so don't waste it and try some. I'm sure that Ms. Kamiya and Ms. Inoue's cooking were good." His mother replied him with a smile.

"All right, everybody is here so ‘itadakimasu'," said Suzie after looking around for any absent chair. Al and Sarah were confused about what it means and Rika told them, "It is a simple phrase in Japan that we grace to the God for the food He gave us." Both Al and Sarah nodded in understanding and then bow down for a moment then enjoy their lunch. Since the Digimons are inside the D â€" Server, they got some food inside as well, just like any normal Digivice. The humans enjoyed the multi-flavor foods, while the Digimons didn't enjoy theirs since it's only a plain roasted meat with no water to replenish their thirst.

Al tried the food that has been cooked by Kari and Yolei and comments, "hmm... Ms. Kamiya's cooking was good, but not the best. And for Ms. Inoue's cooking well is ok although it's quite overcooked. In fact, those who engage with her should be warned." All of the other guests beside Yolei smirk a bit because what Al comments were true since Yolei still learn how to cook.

"Well, at least I tried," replied Yolei with quite embarrass and annoyed.

"Relax, Ms. Inoue. With more practice and patience you can make better than this."

"Well at least somebody respect my hard work and leave a nice comment for a change."Yolei said it while looking at Takato and Kari still embarrass and annoyed.

After having some lunch and talk together for at least an hour Al and Takato excuse themselves and went back to his room to see the progress followed by Kari and Rika, while Sarah, Yolei and Suzie clean the dishes.

Takato looked at the computer for a moment checking the progress, and it seems the installment was complete. "Well it seems the process is complete. All we have to do is to restart the computer and have a test run to see if the game is working properly." Takato hit the ‘turn off' icon and ‘restart' icon, then let the computer restart itself. After the computer is restarting and Al input the pass code again, Takato highlighted the game. Of course with some patch up and updates, everything will be ready in a matter of minutes or hours. "Well that's that. All we have to do is waited, and while we doing it do you have some questions about the game or anything else?"

Al think for a moment then began to ask, "How many people that had Digimons with them, Mr. Takato?"

"Well, counting all of us that I know, there are at least 700 from all around country."

"With that many people why there's only five that investigate the incident?"Al asked with full of curiosity seeing only five of them that came to him.

"Actually there are 20 of us that investigating this case," replied Renamon from inside Rika's D - Server. "Or 21 to be precise, if we counted you of course."

"Only 20 people investigating this case then where are the rest of them?"

"We had... personal cases between them and their Digimons?" said Takato feeling uneasy to discuss the matter.

Al saw Takato's action and decided it to drop it for a moment. "Okay... I won't go any further for now. Next question: Have you found the exact source for the anomalies in the game?"

"So far we only found it in infected Digimon, unless we missed something that even we didn't notice it from the start," replied Kari still thinking that possibility.

"Then how come did you know when the glitches are coming?"

"One of our team created a device or a detector that can detect the glitch at high frequency. The glitch itself is like an EMP that will set off if the capacity was overload." Kari explained about yesterday incident and then saw Al's confusion again. "EMP stands for Electro Magnetic Pulse. For easy to understand it was a magnetic bomb that can distort any machine for a moment and even rewrite the program." Al becoming more confuse for this matter. "You saw a wave pass through the stadium right, that is what pulse means. A slight distorted image for a couple of second that even others didn't notice it coming."

"Others didn't notice it, then how come I can see the wave that passes through the stadium?" Al asked if what Kari said was true that the glitches were invisible to others eyes.

"Good question, how did you saw the glitch clearly while others aren't," asked Gatomon inside the D â€" Server. "You shouldn't be able to see the glitch and yet you did."

"I don't know. I just did."

"Maybe we should ask Gennai to check it once we had the chance. He might know something that we don't," suggest Rika.

Kari agreed with Rika's suggestion, "I guess that's a good idea, if there are abnormalities in this situation he knows more than us."

Al getting more and more confused, ‘Who is this Gennai person, is he an expert in this situation?' Then he looked at the computer. "I guess the patches are finish." Then Kari, Rika and Takato looked at the computer.

"That's good. After you start the game, all you need to do is to put the Digivice in to the slot. The Digivice itself acted as your user name and your password," said Takato giving some instruction on how to play the game. "The Digivice will automatically on once you put it in the slot. The magnet at the top of the Digivice will log you automatically in the online game and the coliseum game." Al put the Digivice in the slot and it is automatically on and logged, just like Takato said. "Okay, you already log in. The next part is to choose your character and so far you only had Agumon. If I remember correctly one Digivice can hold up to three playable characters. And since I'm a non player, I can't recommend anything."

Takato teach Al about the basic of the game about how to walk, communicate, battle, and use skills, items and other additional thing. Al nodded understanding all the information that he needed to know. All except one, he tried to remember again all the items that has been taken out from the package. Then he looked at one specific item, a portable. "Mr. Takato, what is this thing does?"

"Ah... that one got slipped out of my mind." Takato slapped his own head forgetting that portable. "This is what we called D. Terminal. It is a portable that allow us communicate with other tamers, but unfortunately only few of us has it right now. It is similar to the mobile phone that has a keyboard in it. There are lists of our addresses so you can contact us easily or we can contact you if there are troubles brewing inside the game. This D. Terminal is from our founders, and this package is yours from ours. Oh and did I mentioned that it is free of batteries since it is came from Digital World."

Al was in complete awestruck for the gifts he receive from the Destinies, "That much, from all of you?" he then shook his head for disbelief; "I don't know what to say about all this wonderful gifts."

"At least a thank you would be a good start," said Rika folding her arms at her chest.

"Oh no, I should say ‘Thank you VERY MUCH' for all the gifts you gave, Ms. Rika, Ms. Kari, Mr. Takato," said Al with a laugh trying to make a joke for them.

Takato giggled a little for Al's joke and Kari smile knowing what he meant. As for Rika all she could say also with a smile, "I stand corrected."

"Well it looks like everything is in order, time for us to go back then," said Takato and then he stand up flexing some muscles for sitting too long in Al's computer desk chair.

Al escorted the guests out from his room to the living room where Yolei, Suzie and Sarah are having some lively chat together. When Yolei saw her friends were out, she called them, "Hey, everyone. Done with the installment?"

"I see that you two are having some fun chat with the lady of the house, and yes we are done with the installment."

"Oh, Mrs. Revenant here has a lot of good stories to tell," said Suzie smiling at them. "I think we can become a good friend."

"Good, now I hate to spoil the fun, but it is time we go home." Takato waved at Yolei and Suzie telling them to come on. Yolei nodded but Suzie being a teenager sometimes protest, but still the guests didn't want to stay for too long otherwise they will feel discomfort for the owner.

Al escorted the guests to the door and shake hands with them. "Thank you for all the hospitality, Al," said Yolei with a smile.

"Well, I've done my best to keep all of you comfort at least," respond Al.

"If there is anything happen we will contact you through D. Terminal, so keep it close to you. In the mean time, try to get used on the game," advice Takato then they bade farewell to Al and Al replied as well.

After they were all gone, Al closed the door and then walked back in to the living room. His mother, Sarah, greet him again with a smile. "They were such a nice friend, dear."

Al smiled at his mother, "They sure are, and I'm very happy to befriend with them."

"By the way, what was in the package they brought before?"

"They gave me equipment set for a game that is booming very recently."

"You mean that Digital Online that was on the adds? That was very nice of them to give that game that you wanted to try before."

"I know and yet they invite me to join a team inside the game."

"Aren't they were too old for playing that game?" asked Sarah a little confuse for a moment.

"It's true, but the game itself didn't include age limit. That means even adult can play the game," replied Al trying to give excuse for his mother.

"Alright, if you said so. By the way, I should get ready for work now."

"Working at the bar this early, that is highly unusual for you, mom."

"I forgot to tell you that last night the bar was completely crowded, and when it is closing time we didn't have enough time to clean it up. And soon the bar will be expecting more customers than last night."

"I understand. Don't come home so late, and make sure you lock the door before you pass out."

"Sorry, that was my bad. I was too drunk last night that I completely passed out."

"I'm going to bed now, mom. Don't be late, you got office tomorrow." Sarah went straight to the bathroom taking a shower before leaving to her work. Meanwhile Al went back to his room looking back at the equipments they gave as a welcoming gift. ‘Wow, I've been recruited by the Destinies. What's more is that I've got all this cool gifts. This is the best day I've ever had in my life.' Then Al thinks hard on what he should do, trying the game or go to sleep early. Unfortunately his drowsiness has overcome him much faster before he thinks, and so he went straight to bed.
