Honor Above All Else chapter 4
#11 of The Great Balancing
The Whiterunner was cast out into orbit of a lush green planet speckled with the brightest blue oceans, hanging in front of fiery looking red and orange nebulae.
"Alec, what are we doing here?" Sam asked from the pilot's seat as he put the ship into an orbit pattern around the planet.
Alec simply ignored him, his gaze locked into a computer monitor obviously looking for something.
The pale beige, white, brown and black wolf sighed and looked at his crew. "I'm sorry guys I can't tell you what's going on until I know myself. I just need you guys to trust me for a little bit.
"We trust you Alec, you and Kitt are just to worrying us." Drek responded.
Alec nodded and stood up. "Everything will be fine, I promise you. Now I'm going down to the surface, if you don't hear from me in four hours, then your orders are you get the hell out of here and find Kitt. Understood?"
Drek looked to Sam then back to Alec, both extremely confused. "Aye sir..."
The surface of the planet was extremely humid, densely covered by jungle; Alec flew his shuttle over the canopy towards a set of large buildings, jutting out over the vegetation, eventually landing on one of the public pads. It was soon to be dark, the sun slowly arcing over the mountains. Alec opened the lock box on the ship, removing his two highly polished chrome handguns, slapping in fresh high caliber ammunition clips then placing the pistols into his shoulder holsters under his jacket venturing out into the dark, dank city.
The street lights flickered to life as the land was engulfed in the darkness of night. A bustling metropolis whipped by Alec as he moved thru the town, exactly knowing where he was going. Alec approached a large warehouse complex barely lit, trash and a couple abandoned vehicles littered the block. Forcing the side door open Alec stealthily move inside, between stack upon stack of cardboard boxes, filled with god knows what, towards a stairwell; he pulled out one of his pistols and cautiously moved up and along the catwalk structure, coming up to a wooden door, around it fogged window's not allowing anyone to see inside but there was light inside the room.
Inhaling deeply Alec ran up to the door and blasted his foot paw through it, taking the flimsy door clean off it's hinges, startling the shit out of a brown furred fox who sat behind a desk. The room was furnished like a modern apartment, leather couches and a big screen monitor. Like the well trained professional Alec was, he quickly navigated the room getting to the desk as the fox popped up with his own firearm. Alec reacting instantly, he grabbed the fox's wrist and twisted it around, pinning the smaller fur against his desk.
"You sold them Blazer, didn't you?!" Alec growled out, as the fox tries to squirm away, Alec placed his combat boot upon his back, holding him to the glass desktop.
"I don't know what you're talking about! Please don't hurt me!" the fox yelped out.
Alec pressed the barrel of his weapon to the fox's neck. "Don't fuck with me Wiley, I know you."
"Alec? Is that you?!" the fox said.
Alec lifted his boot, gripping the fox's collar and tossing him against the wall behind them, pointing his gun now at the fox's face. "Long time no see, eh buddy!" Alec sarcastically said with a stone cold expression.
"Look you don't understand! I had no choice!" Wiley trembled at the hulking wolf barring down on him.
"Had no choice?! You gave the Dominion the most advanced weapon technology in the galaxy." Alec barked loudly.
"It wasn't me honest...please don't kill me!"
"It had to be you! You, I and Stracarrius are the only ones left alive who knew about it." Alec pulled the hammer back on his gun.
"No! Don't! Okay I gave them it, but they were going to kill me!" Wiley blurted out. "I don't know how, but they knew all about the Blazer objectives, except how to get it to work. They captured me after I escaped your paws when you tried to let me go. The Hyena tortured me for months; I had to do what they asked."
Alec growled. "I knew I should have completed my mission...now look what we've done."
"Can you please put that gun down?" Wiley whimpered.
Alec nodded and lowered his weapon, locking the safety switch on.
"Thank you, I thought you were the Dominion coming to finish the job." Wiley let a huge sigh of relief.
"I was coming to finish the job but in light of the circumstances you serve me better alive for the moment." Alec said uncaringly. "You're coming with me to my ship."
Wiley shook his head quickly. "No, I can't they don't know where I am, I'm safe here."
Alec blinked and looked at the broken down door. "Uhm, dunno if you noticed but I found you, and it didn't take that much."
Suddenly Alec's COM link beeped. "Alec go!"
"Sir, we're tracking several unknown individuals converging on your position." Drek's voice called out.
"What, how did you track me?!" Alec blurted out.
"Tricks of the trade, now you'd better get out of there right away!" Drek snickered.
"Confirmed," Alec closed the channel and pulled out his other pistol. "Still think you're safe here?" Alec said to the fox.
Wiley shook his head quickly his ears folding back onto his head as he shivered with fear.
"Just follow my lead Wiley you never were much of a gun fighter." Alec said as he moved to the door way, scanning the catwalk then dashing out, seeing four figures down on the main floor. Alec growled and whipped his pistols down to them, firing off a barrage of bullets at them.
Leaping down the stairs Alec continued firing at the figures, catching two of them and casting them twirling to the ground. The other two dodged behind some boxes, popping out to return fire.
Alec grabbed Wiley and threw him behind a steel pillar, coming up against a steel barrel himself. Kneeling down Alec released the empty magazines from his pistols and quickly replaced them with two full ones. "Wiley, when I say go, run for the door! Got it?!"
Wiley quickly nodded as bullets ricochet through the steel girders.
Alec closed his eyes for a split second then pivoted up to his feet, pulling the triggers on his guns as quickly as possible, just trying to keep the attackers heads down. "Go NOW!" he shouted to Wiley, following behind him.
As they reached the door a rippling of bullets sparked up the metal frame of the building, Alec and Wiley dove for cover into a side room, pinned down by the sheer volume of bullets flying towards them.
"Wiley! Where's the breaker box in this place?" Alec shouted.
"Right there, 5 meters" Wiley answered frantically pointing just outside of the room thru a glass window and down a hallway.
"Okay, new plan, I'm going for the breaker box, you surrender." Alec grinned.
"What are you insane?!?! They'll kill me." Wiley yelped out completely against this plan.
"Trust me, after I make a dash for the box, just run back out to the door and give up, ready...?"
Wiley's eyes widened. "No don't I'm not!"
Alec stood up running towards the breaker box, snapping off two bullets to shatter the glass as he leaps thru it, rolling along the ground cracking off several more rounds from his guns, seemingly disappearing down a side hallway.
Wiley shook as he closed his eyes and blindly ran out the doorway they came in from. "Wait I surrender!!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, his paws held high into the air. Wiley was soon encircled by eight trench coat wearing Hyena soldiers, each one pointing a weapon at him. "Please...I give up!"
"Where is the wolf?" one of the Hyenas hissed up.
"I dunno, he ran, you guys scared him off, thank the universe you did." Wiley said, sweating bullets.
All of a sudden the lights went out for a split second before the emergency ones flashed on and there was Alec standing behind Wiley, his guns outstretched in his paws. Before the Hyena could react, Alec switched his pistols to full automatic fire and unleashed his ammunition upon them, twisting, swinging his arms and body around Wiley, placing each bullet into a Hyena figure. The fire fight only lasted a few short seconds before Alec came to a rest in front of Wiley his arms crossed in front of his body, the barrels of his weapons smoking like the fires of hell and Alec's eyes closed tight.
Alec looked up and opened his eyes to Wiley. "Told ya it would work." he grinned and pressed the magazine releases on the pistols, the empty clips clanging on the ground.
Wiley blinked and panted heavily. "I forgot what you guys can do..."
Alec nodded and roughly grabbed Wiley rushing him out of the building.
"Captain, glad to see you made it back alright." Drek said meeting Alec and Wiley in the shuttle bay of the Whiterunner.
Alec looked sternly at the much taller panther. "You weren't supposed to track me."
"Yeah well we figured you could use the help." Drek chuckled.
"Thanks, we need to get back to the Lupine home world as fast as possible." Alec said patting Drek on the shoulder. "Oh and take this fox to one of the passenger cabins and lock him in it."
Wiley looked at Alec pathetically thinking for a second Alec was his savior "Why?"
"Simple I don't trust you, besides there's still and Alliance contract out for your arrest." Alec replied quite harshly as Drek latched his gargantuan paws onto the tiny fox's shoulders and pushed him along.
"Who is he?" Drek inquired from his seat in the conference room.
Alec looked out over his crew members. "Okay, I'm going to lay it all down for you, just listen for the moment." Getting no objections from his people Alec took a breath. "The fox is Wiley Haniman, a galactic renounced bio-genetic scientist. He was involved in an extremely covert project commissioned by the Alliance defense council about seven years ago. The project, code named the Blazer Objectives was aimed at enhancing the Alliance's military with a kind of cybernetic technology which would allow a solider to manipulate energies from with in his body or around him. Five years ago the project was terminated by the Alliance but secretly carried on by the Lupine government. Unfortunately it was never perfected and was shortly after ended. I believe, in fact I'm sure now that this research has found its way into the Dominion's paws and they are producing these super soldiers."
Drek leaned forward in his chair, astonished at what he was hearing. "So you mean to tell me the Alliance was experimenting on their soldiers to what? Allow them to be able to do what Kitt does?"
Alec sighed and nodded slowly. "Exactly Drek, although it was never imagined it could get this far. But apparently the Dominion has some how improved on the design."
"So..." The copper and black collie engineer, Illias spoke up his voice very calm and hinted at a sort of human british accent. "...why are we keeping the good scientist under lock and key? Isn't he just as scared of the Dominion as we all are?"
"He is trust me, but I cannot give you that information at this time. Our mission priority is to make it back to the Lupine Home world and meet with Kitt where we will decide on how to deal with the good Doctor..." Alec said. "...Sam how long until we reach the home world?"
Sam looked up at Alec. "Well you had us burn a lot of fuel getting out here so quickly, I'd say best speed seven hours."
"Good, I know this is a lot to put on you all, but I feel you should know at least most of what's going on. Which brings me to the second part of this meeting" Alec cleared his throat, walking around the conference table. "I also know this isn't exactly what you signed on for, you all were hired to run this ship, not to get involved in a galactic war, my question is, would you all like Kitt and I to disband the crew and allow you to move on with your lives?"
The crew looked amongst themselves then quickly back to Alec. Drek stood at full military attention and cleared his throat. "Sir...if I may...we've been serving together for two and a half years almost three now, how dare you suggest that we all just jump ship on you two, no matter how bad this gets our place is behind our captains."
The entire crew shot up to their feet and saluted Alec, causing a wide smile to cross his muzzle. "Thank you all, very much...no we have a job to do, let's get at'er!"
"Aye SIR!!" the crew all said in unison.
"A decisive victory for the Alliance occurred today in the Coscomi system, when a fast acting move by the Lupine Alpha sent a fleet from the Lupine Home world to the small mining colony, arriving within mere moments of an attack, saving the lives of more than five hundred thousand workers and their families. It is not yet known who was the commanding officer of the Wolf fleet but our deepest thanks go out to all the soldiers who fought in that courageous battle. This is Anthony Galitho reporting."
"Too bad you can't take the glory for it hon." Alec said as he nuzzled against his mates chest.
"Enh, was only doing my job Alec." Kitt responded. He and Alec laid across the couch in the captain's cabin of the Whiterunner in front of the video screen. "So uhm sweetie, where did you go in such a hurry?"
Alec sat up looking Kitt directly in the eyes. "I'm so sorry Kitt, I know I was shutting you out but I had to. Remember I told you about that research paper on artificial ki abilities?"
"Yeah I do hon, you thought it was just a paper?" Kitt asked.
"I wasn't sure, but I am now, the project was real, it was called Blazer. And the Dominion have it." Alec explained.
Kitt nodded slowly. "I figured as much, ran into two of them on Coscomi."
"You did?!" Alec exclaimed.
"Oh yeah, I must admit for being synthetic, they sure packed a hell of a punch." Kitt chuckled.
Alec was about to say something when the door chimed. Alec huffed and looks at the door. "Enter..."
In walked the seven foot tall black furred wolf alpha, Alec and Kitt jolt up to their feet, neither of them wearing anything more than track pants "Tarn what are you doing here?" Kitt asked.
"Uhm yeah sorry to interrupt, what, whatever you were doing but I felt I should let you both know in person." Tarn said looking about the room.
"Let us know what?" Alec asked curiously.
"I've consulted with all of my advisors and highest generals, it's agreed." Tarn continued quietly.
Kitt and Alec just shrugged to each other then looked back at the uneasy Lupine leader.
"For both of your commitments to the safety of the Alliance and more specifically to the Lupine people, the packs are granting you both your titles, citizenships and positions as Hun-gar warriors, you are both welcome, at least politically, back into our way of life." Tarn sighed.
"Really?!" Kitt and Alec said together.
"Yes really and you both retain your ranks as Colonels. Kitt, Alec, we leave for the Pride Lands tomorrow," Tarn ordered.
"Why are we going there?" Kitt inquireed.
"Well since Kitt you lead the defense on Coscomi and Alec, you know why. You two are the best people to accompany me to the Alliance Council to persuade them to see how dangerous the situation is." Tarn said looking at the two.
"As you wish my Alpha," Kitt graciously replied his tone have the slightest hint of a joke.
"Oh knock it off you." Tarn laughed.
Kitt stood in front of the mirror in the captain's cabin of the Whiterunner, he hadn't put on the black flowing trench coat, black dress shirt and pants of the Hun-gar in years. He sighed softly to himself, slipping on the leather gloves. It felt weird almost that his life would once again be one of the Hun-gar and be able to be with Alec without hiding it.
Alec stepped up behind Kitt in the same attire and smiled. "You look good hon."
Kitt smiled back through the mirror. "Thanks, you too Alec" Kitt turns and picked up his ivory handled katana, retrieved from the Alistair pack hall and strapped the scabbard over his shoulder. "Ready?"
"As I'll ever be," Alec replied attaching his sword in a similar manor.
The two met Tarn in the shuttle bay, himself dressed in the tradition ceremonial garb of the Alpha, an all white outfit, the jacket seamless with two flowing tail just down passed his thighs. His own katana strapped to his waist.
"Glad the uniforms fit, sorry couldn't have you guys showing up undressed for the occasion." Tarn said adjusting his neck in the uncomfortable looking jacket.
"S'alright Alpha, besides you look more uncomfortable in your outfit than we do in ours." Alec joked at the black furred wolf.
"I'm not going to lie to you, I hate this thing but it's all about tradition with the council." Tarn said climbing into the shuttle. Kitt took the pilot seat. The shuttle gliding out of the bay and towards the orange and green planet below; even from orbit the capitol of the Alliance could be seen it stretched for hundreds of kilometers out in a circle, built up taller than any other city in the galaxy. This was the home of the Alliance. "Pride lands control this is, Lupine priority one shuttle on approach, transmitting clearance codes." Kitt spoke into the intercom with the air traffic controller. "So this is the Lion home world. Huh?" Kitt said to Tarn and Alec peering out over the monolithic sized structures, all made out of glass, steel and concrete.
The shuttle quickly received it's clearance, as it neared the tallest building in the whole city, the 1200 story Alliance building; looking like it were a huge flat topped pyramid. On the north side was the landing pads gouged out of the slopped side of the building, where a multitude of other high profile craft were landing and taking off.
Kitt and Alec exit the ship first after touching down followed by Tarn, the sky above them littered with thousands of small transport craft zooming about. After a moment of standing around the trio is met by a welcoming party of four lion delegates, dressed in the olive drab uniforms of the Alliance military.
"Ambassador Earthwalker, may I be the first to welcome you to the capitol, I trust your trip was uneventful." The lion with the most metals on his uniform said to Tarn.
"Quite. Captain, these are my two guardians, Hun-gar Kitt Alistair and Alec Drominaz." Tarn replied gesturing to the pair in front of him.
The captain nodded. "If you will follow me, we've setup accommodations here in the building for you, I will have you luggage take to it immediately."
Tarn cleared his throat. "Captain, if I may, when if the council hearing?"
"The other ambassadors are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, the hearing will commence around 15:30 our time."
"Good...then show us the way."
The room was absolutely immense, two levels decorated with the finest and without a doubt the most expensive furniture and art possible, the entire far wall was one huge window, sloped with the side of the building, giving a spectacular view over the cities dizzying heights. Kitt and Alec survey the room while Tarn was out in a meeting with some of the other government representatives.
"Holy shit Kitt, look at this place, we'd have to sell the Whiterunner three times over to get even half this shit in here!" Alec exclaimed.
Kitt laughed playing with some of the bobbles on the office desk "Yeah no shit." Kitt took off the tight trench coat and tossed it over the white leather couch.
Standing on the second level of the ambassadorial suite, Kitt stared out the wall to wall armored glass window, gazing over the Lion city and sighed slightly to himself.
"What are you thinking about hon?" Alec softly said approaching from behind.
"Hmmm?" Kitt replied distantly. "Oh, nothing, just contemplating what is going to be said tomorrow."
"How so?" Alec asked stepping up beside Kitt, taking in the magnificent view.
"I don't think the Alliance is ready for a war. Look how long it took them to respond to the hit and runs on Daven and Outpost 47. More so I'm worried about the strength of these super soldiers, they couldn't have thrown there best out so soon, especially with the news coverage of Tarn and I when we fought." Kitt explained.
"We'll just have to very persuasive to them tomorrow. And I have no doubt you'll be able to take anything the Dominion can throw at you." Alec said with a grin.
Kitt, Alec and Tarn, marched out into the stadium sized audience chamber, shaped like a cone, the sides littered with hundreds of representatives from every system in the Alliance, along with their associates and body guards. The sound of the people was almost deafening, cheering and angry conversations echoed everywhere; and the three wolves were now in the center of it all.
"The floor now recognizes ambassador Tarn of the Earthwalker pack and Alpha to the Lupine Empire." The huge golden furred lion and Alliance president announces from the main booth right across from the circle.
Tarn stepped forward into a spot light at the exact center of the audience chamber, small spherical robots floated around him recording every action and displaying it on large projection screen monitors and broadcasting it the news stations. "Ladies and Gentlemen of the Alliance I thank you for coming here today on such short notice. I speak to you now about the very severe topic of the growing hostilities between the Dominion and the Alliance. I have toiled for days about exactly what I was going to say and cannot come up with anything but to say we are at war!" Tarn declared to the council his deep commanding voice booming through the speaker systems and no doubt through out the Alliance, getting nothing but 'boos' and harsh comments. "Please, hear me out. The Dominion is far more dangerous than was thought. During the defense of Coscomi my solider here, Hun-gar first class Kitt Alistair encountered two super soldiers, working for the Hyena." Tarn continued.
"What makes these 'super soldiers' as you call them, so dangerous?" one of the ambassadors yelled out.
"They use advanced technologies that harness natural energies, allowing them to be faster, stronger and even go so far to concentrate these energies into physical projectile blasts from their bodies."
A few chuckles were heard across the chamber.
"Honestly ambassador, the Alliance has the most powerful weapons and military in the known galaxy. I'm sure we can handle anything they throw at us. You are going to have to be more convincing than that." The president said out loud.
Kitt growled and stepped into the spot light, "Members of the council this is what you're up against." Kitt tossed his trench coat aside and concentrated his breathing he threw his arms to the ceiling as his ascended golden form flashing over him; his golden aura casting out a gale force wind up into the audience, long thin blue lightning streaked up at the roof. Kitt's narrowed glare focused on the president as he raised his palm to the crescent shaped table in front of them and ripped it out of the floor without touching it, lifting it to the middle of the chamber then with his opposite paw, throwing an energy bolt at it, causing it to burst in a ball of fire, the dusty bits falling to the floor. "Convinced yet?" Kitt snapped.
"That was pretty fucking stupid Kitt!" Tarn yelled as the three of them entered the suite in a rush.
"What was I supposed to do? Huh? They weren't going to do anything and don't tell me you couldn't sense it." Kitt fired back.
Tarn turned to Kitt looking down on him. "That doesn't matter, you're performance was broadcasted to every major news network and I didn't want the Dominion to know how strong we are. And don't forget now you are a Hun-gar first class again and are accountable to me.
Kitt smirked. "But it worked didn't it?"
"Indeed Kitt, we have ourselves a war." Tarn responded.
The dark slender transport sped through the murky atmosphere, the rear bay sliding open, out falling five black jump suit wearing figures. The five free fell quite a distance, just at the last second deploying parachute before smacking into the ground, gliding the last short distance into the pitch black forest, quickly stripping out of the jump suits and helmets. Kitt whipped up his assault rifle scanning the area and signaled to his team to move out.
"Eagle Prime, this is hatchling. Touch down achieved, proceeding on route." Kitt whispered into his radio mic.
The team advanced at near running speed but making almost no noise, whipping through the dense forest. Stopping at the edge of a clearing, in the center a huge chain link fence surrounding a warehouse building with spot lights tracing along the fence, a few scattered guards patrolled the area.
Kitt looked to two of his team members and nodded. They, without hesitation moved away from the remaining three. "Move to position beta." Kitt said leading his team into the tall reeds on their bellies.
Approaching the fence Kitt looked through the scope on his rifle a small circle diagram in the corner of the display showing any movement in the immediate vicinity. Upon seeing none he signaled and the three rush up to the fence, the Red fox and German Shepard quickly cutting the fence.
"High rise, this is lead; any contacts?" Kitt whispered.
"Negative lead, proceed..." Kitt heard and moved through the hole in the fence and up to the wall of the building.
The three slid silently along the wall to a corner, Kitt peered around it seeing a tall look out tower housing a single falcon like sentry manning a large laser machine gun and a spotlight. "High Rise, north east corner, contact and eliminate." Kitt ordered.
A second later the guard in the tower fell over, from a silent bullet to the throat. Kitt and his team completed the rest of the way to a small air vent opening at the base of the building.
"Eagle Prime; lead here making entry." Kitt said as the German Shepard unscrewed the vent and all three climbing in.
"Confirmed lead; tracking you on locators and thermal." A voice responded into the teams headsets.
Crawling through the ducts in the building Kitt and his party passed undetected under a large room. The fox and the Shepard moved down the vent a little more to their own openings.
"Eagle Prime, confirm targets..." Kitt carefully whispered.
"Lead, four contacts confirmed."
Kitt winked to his team, each drawing a silenced hand pistol, Kitt also pulled out a small cylindrical grenade. In perfect time a split second later all three furs forced the grates open, Kitt tossed the grenade, the visor the canines were wearing darkened to shield there eyes as it detonated sending out a completely silent blinding flash of light and with four precise shots all four of the vultures fell dead. Hopping out the duct, the German Shepard went to work on the computer panel as Kitt and the fox secured the doors.
"Colonel, five minutes to download." The Shepard spoke quietly.
Kitt looked to him and nodded. "You've got four...Eagle Prime update."
"Lead here negative abnormal activity."
"High Rise report."
"Lead, shift change commencing, you've got five minutes to make exit."
Kitt huffed, his slender tail swaying anxiously behind himself as were the tails of the others. "Confirmed; move to Plateau positions and hold for further instructions."
Two long minutes passed without problems. Kitt and the fox kept close watch on the doors as the German Shepard finished the download, when the mic's crackled to life.
"Lead we've got trouble, heavy hitters inbound just entered the complex. Suggest you move." the sniper reported.
"Heard, maintain zero visibility, prepare for exit." Kitt said as his team re-entered the vents and headed out the way they came in.
Kitt stared out the vent seeing a group of several tanks followed by two armored troop carriers.
"Fuck." Kitt softly growled.
They remained in the air vent for a couple minutes until the activity died down; then quickly bolting out avoiding the spot lights back to the hole in the fence and back out into the grass.
"High Rise, are we clear?" Kitt asked.
"Five by Five Lead..."
Kitt began leading the team through the grass back to the forest when about halfway there a piercing klaxon sound came from the building. "Lead, all holy hell just broke loose, they are deploying troops." The sniper urgently reported.
Suddenly the thundering sounds of gun fire followed by the bullets falling into the grass. Kitt and the team steadily made their way further and further.
"Lead; tango on your six!" One of the snipers yipped and a split second later a thud was heard on the ground as the solider flopped down dead.
Like streaks of lightning hundreds of rounds began to fly into the waist high grass; Kitt, the fox and German Shepard just reaching the forest. Kitt came around a tree turning on one knee, his assault rifle rattling as it fired the high velocity bullets at the approaching soldiers. "All units fall back, say again fall back!!"
The five all began pulling deeper into the forest as they fire off countless amounts of ammunition. Over head a soft whistling was heard. "Artillery, everyone down!" the fox shouted, causing the team ducking for cover as the shell hit a tree, blowing splinters and chunks of dirt and rock everywhere.
The team quickly got to their feet racing along their path, with more and more shells exploding all around them, phosphorus tipped round sailing passed their bodies.
"Eagle Prime, need immediate pickup, we are under extreme fire, respond!!" Kitt shouted into his mic as he leapt over a boulder, an artillery round exploding where he'd been standing a second before.
"Confirmed lead, Mother on route, proceed to extract alpha, dust off in five minutes."
Kitt popped up from the rock and opened fire at the Dominion troops, killing two of them and sending the others ducking for cover. The team all grouped around Kitt, panting, muddy and scratched up. "Okay, extract in 5 mikes at alpha point. Get ready!" All of them unhooked a small steel rod attached to a thin steel cable and smirk to each other, popping out with a barrage of automatic fire, one by one turning and making a run for it.
They pushed hard evading the aggressing army of troops, entering into a clearing, several meters into it was nothing but a cliff and open ocean. But they did not stop, running for their lives, tank and artillery fire raining down upon them like a monsoon rain storm. With pure determination on their faces they whipped their steel rods into the rock, followed by a loud bag as the rods anchor themselves in, the five launched themselves over the side of cliff, falling towards the rocky shore, out from nowhere the high-speed transport which they'd jumped out of soared in just under them. Kitt and the others summersault and unclipped the harnesses, tumbling into through the bay doors, slamming into a null gravity field which stopped them dead in their tracks, the transport instantly flared it's engines and turned rocketing up, back into orbit.
After the gravity returned to normal, letting the strike team to their feet gently, Kitt looked around making sure everyone made it. "Great job guys, square away your gear and report for debriefing." Kitt said taking the data crystal made in the Dominion facility back to his quarters.
The heavy stream of water fell over his naked body, fur matted to his extremely toned frame, when the intercom chimed, Kitt growled and reached out of the shower, hitting the respond button.
"Go." Kitt said slightly annoyed.
"Priority one message from Lupine Home world for you sir."
"I'll take it in my office." Kitt responded shaking off the water from his fur and grabbed a towel.
Kitt moved to his desk with only the towel around his waist, on the computer monitor was Tarn's image. "How'd it go?" The impatient wolf leader immediately asked.
"Fine other than the crap-tastic Intel we got, they never said anything about a tank column anywhere near the area." Kitt bitched.
"Ah the life of a foot solider, anyway you got the data?" Tarn pushed.
"Yea we did, we're still eight hours from rendezvous with Eagle Prime, and so we can't decode it until then." Kitt answered.
"Understood, once you've reached the Eagle Prime, you'll meet up with TacFleet 4 in the Astri nebulae and await further instructions" Tarn ordered.
"Aye Alpha, next contact in nine hours; Kitt out..." Kitt turned his computer off and slumped down in the chair, looking around the stark cramped military quarters. His thoughts wandered to his mate and crew.
The Whiterunner rolled and dodged as massive particle beams and missiles whizzed by, it seamed as all of space was engulfed in explosions as the two fleets engaged.
Alec sat in the command chair, the ship rattling as it was struck. "Shit, Sam come about 472 by 3...fighter wing beta take out those turrets." He belted out.
Fifteen 'x' shaped small fighter craft lined up along the underbelly of the significantly larger Whiterunner as it dove along the hull of the three kilometer long giant of a destroyer. The Whiterunner's guns blazing volley's of ion beams causing the destroyers hull to buckle and tear in some sections but not doing a significant amount of damage while the fighter space craft swivel downwards firing off missiles into the individual gun turrets.
The Whiterunner soared out in front of the destroyer. "Alec, shields down to thirty percent and we've got hull breaches on decks six and seven." Drek hissed out over the noise of the bridge.
"We gotta end this now! All ships target the lead destroyer. Drek lock all weapons onto that breech in their forward hull." Alec's ordered quickly followed by the thirty alliance ships all turning and began firing upon the single destroyer. The Whiterunner flipped a full one hundred eighty degrees, the momentum still sailing the ship away as its guns discharged and burst straight into the very depths of the destroyer. Soon the center of the ship began to bulge and then exploded sending a huge concussion shockwave through the fleets.
Alec grinned as his crew all howled out with joy. "Open a channel to the Dominion ships." Alec stood adjusting his tight black and gold button up fleet uniform jacket. "Remaining ships you have no escape, surrender your vessels and prepare to be boarded." The channel closed. "Shar transmit to our boys to set up a holding pattern and alert the third fleet."
Shar nodded and started calling out orders into his headset.
"Nicely done people, begin repairs." Alec said slumping down in the command chair.
The third fleet arrived within the hour, swiftly falling down on the scene, four thousand space craft zipping and floating through space.
"Yes sir, five ships destroyed, two others severely damaged. From their trajectory it would suggest they were heading towards Outpost fourteen, probably a hit and run mission." Alec reported to the admiral.
The stuffy looking otter, in his black pressed fleet uniform stood across from Alec on the bridge of the lead carrier. "Excellent work Colonel they'll think twice before using these hyperspace beacons. Now onto new orders, I received a transmission from command a couple hours ago, you are to take the Whiterunner and attack wing zeta to the Astri nebulae and meet up with TacFleet 4 to re-enforce them. You leave as soon as repairs are completed to the Whiterunner."
Alec smirked knowing full well Kitt was assigned to that fleet. "Sir, yes sir!"
Days later Alec's ships finally met with TacFleet 4, wasting no time he contacted Kitt. Closing the door to the captain's cabin on the Whiterunner and locking it, following Kitt in. Neither had seen each other since the war began near two months ago.
Kitt turned, both wolves locking in a tight embrace, quickly kissing each other.
"Oh Alec I missed you so much!" Kitt said through a passionate whine.
"I missed you too!" Alec answered as he practically tore Kitt's shirt from his torso.
Alec was in the middle of undoing Kitt's pants when the intercom chimed. "Colonel Alistair and Drominaz, please report to the command carrier, briefing room one, immediately."
Both Kitt and Alec look into each other's eyes and sighed. "We'll continue this tonight." Kitt smirked at Alec, picking up his shirt and putting it back on.
The briefing room was crowded with intelligence officers and other high ranking fleet officers. "Good, as you were Colonels, please take a seat."
Kitt and Alec saluted the Admiral at the head of the conference table. "May I remind you all that this meeting is classified ultra code violet the data from the raid on Sierra minor, lead by Colonel Alistair has been decoded, it seems you..." The admiral said gesturing to Kitt. "...are quite the interest to the Dominion, the files contains very detailed analysis off every engagement you have participated in that we know of. Best guess according to the experts is that the Dominion is trying to learn everything the can to perfect their super solider."
Kitt cleared his throat. "Interesting, that would make sense sir, we haven't encountered one of them in weeks."
"Indeed Colonel, so we're going to be taking the fight to them. Alliance command has authorized us to track down the facilities developing the super soldiers and eliminate then. Should we encounter a full functional unit, you Colonel Alistair are to be sent in and take it out." the admiral explained.
Kitt nodded. "I'd better go prepare sir..."
"Agreed, we move out tomorrow morning."
The meeting broke up everyone leaving the room, leaving only Kitt and the admiral back alone. "Kitt, I didn't want to bring this up to the others but there's something else found in the data that you should know about." the admiral started.
Curiously Kitt cocked his head to the side.
"In the data, the ran across this..." the admiral displayed across the large flat panel display monitor behind him, Alec's military record from about six years ago "...It was imbedded with there copy of the Blazer Objectives, it would seem your mate along with the scientist Wiley Haniman, Alec picked up were under the employ of the Dominion and it would follow that they sold Blazer to them."
Kitt gasped and threw his paws up, not sure what to make of this. "No it can't be, he'd never do that, and I know him. There's gotta be something else!"
The admiral sighed and looked down to the floor. "I don't know Kitt, it seems that the only one who can answer the questions about himself, would be him."
Kitt stepped back a bit his stomach feeling like it was going drop through the floor. "What is the council's position on this?"
"I...uh omitted this from my report for the time being. But they'll notice the missing files; I figure you have about two days to figure out what's going on before they come to arrest him for treason."
Kitt took a deep breath, trying to hold in the rage, after all it's not the admiral's fault, and the data is plan as day. "Thank you sir, excuse me."
Kitt rushed down the halls of the carrier to his quarters, locking the door behind him and throwing open the boot locker, searching through his things when he found a little red wooden box, opening it he saw a dusty old clear circular data disc; remembering what Tarn had said to him just as he'd kicked them off the Lupine Home world three years ago. "Hell, I'm surprised you and Alec have lasted this long..." the memory of Tarn's voice rang mockingly through his head.
"Yeah we've just been smart about it..."
"No, no, I mean just in general, that Alec could have settled down with such a goodie goodie like you...how much about his past do you really know..."
Then another memory surfaced. "Here...a little enlightening bedtime reading..."
Kitt stared at the disc, wanting so very much just to snap the disc in half right that moment, but he had to know. Kitt wentt over to his desktop computer and placed the disc into the drive. An image of Tarn, three years ago appears and a video starts playing. "Hello Kitt, I'm assuming it's you. Finally broke down and played this...good for you. Inside this disc is every dirty little deed you're mate has done over his lifetime. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of this as I do."
Kitt scanned through the text files and watched every video Alec was an merciless cold killing machine. Kitt's eyes focused on as training footage showed Alec brutally killing two of his fellow students while in unarmed combat practice. Kitt stumbled out of his chair gasping for air as he sees the contact list Alec was known for, the name Bryn Windracer, the very wolf that killed his mother and father, Alec worked with and trained under him for years."
Kitt panted and balled up his fist the anger surging up as he pivoted and puts his fist through the three inch thick titanium steel door of his cabin.
Slowly slinking out of his cabin, his padded down the corridors of the ship, his head hung low, as he made his way to the shuttle bay and headed over to the Whiterunner. The pissed off black furred wolf stepped out onto the bridge, Alec, Drek and Shar where there. Alec was looking over Drek's shoulder as they reworked the targeting computers. Alec looked up and smiled at Kitt. "Hey hon what's up?"
Kitt held up the data disc and tossed it to Alec. "Why didn't you tell me?"
Alec has a puzzled look on his muzzle. "Tell you what?"
"The reason you were able to find that fucking scientist is because you and him worked on the project together, you were the goddamn problem solver of the whole thing!" Kitt shouted out.
"How what...how did you find out?" Alec stumbled for an answer.
"Tarn gave me your files three years ago as a going away present when he kicked us off the home world." Kitt snarled. "You're files are all over the data we stole from Sierra, why didn't you tell me?!?" Kitt shouted again.
"I think you guys should leave." Alec said to Drek and Shar, whom quickly scramble out off the bridge.
"Six years Alec, you lied to me."
"I didn't lie to you Kitt it was in the past I felt it was best left there." Alec whimpered.
"Don't play games, you're mentor into the Hun-gar was Bryn. I always wondered how you so easily tracked him and let me make the kill, I firggin' did your dirty work for you." Kitt kicked the command chair right out of the floor across the bridge.
"Calm down hon, please, I wasn't training with him when he killed your parents. I found out what he was like and I ditched him, along with everything I'd done, I left the wet works division and transferred to intelligence." Alec quickly explained to the angered wolf.
"Well guess what, I can't save you this time hon, in two days the Alliance is going to get the pieces of data you're involved in and I cannot help you." Kitt said coldly.
"What are you talking about? The Blazer Objectives were initially started by the council, I was just a patsy to it just like everyone else who worked on it, cuz the project was cancelled and they tried to cancel me too. That's what really happened on the Cannis ice plain when you saved me."
Kitt turned crossing his arm over his chest "I just can't trust you anymore Alec....I'm sorry..."
"Kitt please don't leave, I can't apologies for what I've done, there's too much blood on my paws, but can't you forgive me?" Alec pled tears streaming down his muzzle.
"I don't know Alec...I just don't know...." Kitt walked off the bridge without a glance back as his mate.
