Opposites Attract - Chapter 5
#5 of Opposites Attract
That night, Draco laid wide awake in bed last night, thinking over what had gone on. He blamed himself for all of it. He should have just dropped her off back at her house and talked to her the next day. "But nooo.. I let my god damn cock do the talking and look where it got me...again." He thought to himself, slamming a fisted paw on the bed in his room. He looked over at the slip of paper Sara had given him with her cell phone number and began to put it in his cell phones phone book, thinking it best to go ahead and do that before he lost the paper. "Should I call her? No.. It's fucking 12 am right now. She will think I'm desperate, and she's probably asleep right now anyways." Just as he was about to put his cell down though, it began to ring as Sara called him instead. "Hello?"
"Hey sweetie. Listen. I just want to say sorry for tonight. My dad can be the biggest asshole sometimes. He thinks just because you live in the projects that.."
"Yea I know. And it really sucks. But listen don't go apologizing to me. This is my fault. I let my cock do the thinking tonight instead of my brain. I should have known better than to go out with a girl like you. No offense, of course, it's just that I figured your family wouldn't be that fond of me and I was right, sadly.." He grumbled. Really, why should he be apologizing? Ok, maybe he could have done something about fucking her like that. But it's not his fault his family is poor, and Sara's dad shouldn't really be judging him for that. "Well, hey listen. I understand if you don't think this is a very good idea but would you like to hang out again tomorrow or something?"
Sara sat for a minute and thought. "Hmm.. Maybe. I dunno. I'm in enough trouble with my dad as it is. Plus him and mom are in this huge fight so he's not gonna be in the best of moods. But I will try. I have my ways of sneaking past him. I really enjoyed being with you tonight, even when we weren't having sex. I think you're really sweet." She said with a small blush, turning over in her bed.
Draco blinked at that. He seriously thought attracting a female like that would be the last thing he ever did. But this girl had what most of the hot girls had and a lot of what they didn't, and that was a brain. She could see past the fact that he didn't have much, and could focus on what really mattered in someone. "Heh, well thanks. I think you're an awesome girl as well hun. You're smart and you're not just a pretty face without a soul." He smiled a bit, feeling a happiness he'd never felt before in his life. "Well I got an idea for a cool spot we can go to. There is this one hill that overlooks the entire city, and at night the view is spectacular. Tomorrow evening I want to head up with you and we can sit and do whatever..."
Sara smiled more and nodded eagerly, feeling the same feeling well up inside of her. "Hmmm, well then. It's a date. But it's getting really late right now, so good night sweetie. Call me when you get up ok?" She then hung up the phone and set it on her end table before covering up again, this time with something to look forwards to the next day. That night, her head filled with dreams of her new friend, just the two of them sitting on the hill overlooking the colorful and bright flashing city lights.
"Ok, I will." Draco hung up and laid there for a few minutes, sighing a breath of relief. Somehow that small talk with her had made his troubles disappear, and he felt there was nothing that would ever bring him down again. He slowly fell soundly asleep within the next few minutes, dreaming nothing but dreams of him and Sara.
Knock knock knock..
"Hmmm?" Draco slowly stirred awake in his bed and checked the time. "Hmmm.. Twelve? My dad usually wakes me up at 8 on weekends...who is at the door at this time?" He slowly stood up and walked through the hallway, and through the kitchen as well. His dad was nowhere to be seen, and he hadn't even started breakfast. "Weird.." He slowly walked to the front door and opened it, blushing as he just now realized he was still in his boxers. But once he looked up from his boxers, he saw two policemen standing at his doorway.
"Excuse me sir. Is this the residence of Mr Samuel Azule?" One of the policeman asked.
"Uh yea. I'm his son. Is there something wrong?" He looked in the driveway and noticed his dads truck was nowhere to be seen as well.
One of them sighed some and, with a sad look, looked up into Draco's eyes. "Listen, son. You may want to brace yourself for this but... Your dad was involved in a drunk high speed car accident. He died before the paramedics could even get there, but we were able to collect something from him. It was a note he managed to write down as he was laying on the pavement. He told us to give this to you." With that, he handed Draco the note, written on the back of a grocery receipt.
The note read. "Son, I know I could never provide the best for you, and you did deserve a better dad than I was to you. I'm sorry I couldn't provide for you more, and I know I never made the divorce easier on you as well. But I'm still your dad, and I love you very much. I can only wish you the best in finding a place to stay, since I was too damn selfish to spend any money on your future and only cared about my beer."
Draco simply stared at the note for a few seconds and slowly tucked it inside his pocket. "The last thing I told him was I was 18 years old and I could stay out as late as I wanted to. I blew him off for a chick last night. And now I never get to speak to him ever again..." He turned around and headed back into the house, tears forming in his eyes and flowing down his cheeks.
Meanwhile, Sara had just rose up out of her bed and was in the kitchen eating breakfast with her mom and father. You could tell from the silence that tensions were still high, and Sara wasn't comfortable at all with it. She simply gathered her plates and walked up to her room, locking it from the inside once she got in. She sat down on the bed and began to eat, as she looked down at her phone. "Hmmm. Why hasn't Draco called me yet..." She picked up the phone and began to dial his number, before holding it up to her ear and waiting for him to pick up.
By now though, Draco was in tears on his bed, his tears flowing down and forming into a puddle on the bed. "Why..." He said to himself through his sobs. AS his phone rang, he had half a mind to just ignore it for now. But as he saw Sara's name come up, he reached down and picked it up, waiting a second before answering. "H-Hello...?" He tried to hold back his sobs but failed miserably.
"...Sweetie? Hey hun, is something wrong?" Sara sat down her breakfast plates and stood up from her bed, getting a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. She walked across the room towards her mirror and began to comb out the tangles in her mane that had accumulated from her slumber as she listen to Draco on the other end.
"Well.. I just found out my dad is dead. H-he was out driving drunk again and got involved in some accident. I don't â€" I don't know what I'm going to do. I can't afford this place on my minimum wage paycheck. I'm gonna loose everything and be out on the streets. My mom still says she loves me but I know she won't be able to do anything. My stepdad hates me.."
Draco gasped, dropping her comb to the floor as she ran to her dresser. "Sweetie, I'm on my way there ok? Don't worry I will help you through this. If I can't get you a place to stay here I will get you one somewhere else. A guy like you deserves better than the streets. Now where do you live?" She frantically got dressed while keeping the phone held up to her face, not really paying much attention to style right now. She quickly ran out the door of her home and hopped in her moms vehicle. She didn't have her own car yet but she did have a permit. Her mom would just have to fuss later.
"1524 E Main St... But why? No. No please don't come here. My house is a mess and.. I'm embarrassed.." he said, now a bit more relaxed knowing that Sara cared so much for him. "Let me come up to your house or something, or meet you half way? I really don't think you would like it here and you deserve a better place than this."
Sara sat and listen to him but she would have none of it. "Possesions and materialistic things are nothing to me. You have a heart of gold Draco, and that's all I'm interested in. That plus your smoking hot body.." She added with a small smirk as she pulled out down the street. "I'm on my way sweetie. Don't worry I will be there in a second..." As she drove, she pondered over what it would be like if she convinced her dad to let him live with her, as well as the speech she would have to go through to convince her dad in the first place.
Draco, as unbelievable as it was, found himself smiling some in spite of what had happened that morning. Sara always had a way of cheering him up no matter what. "Thank you.. And so do you Sara." He was still very sad over the loss of his father but was no longer crying over it. He simply sat and waited until Sara came with a blank expression on his face, leaning up against the wall.
Soon enough, Sara pulled into Draco's driveway and gently knocked on the doorway. A few seconds later, Draco walked up and opened it up, pulling her into a tight embrace. Sara smiled some as she hugged him back, before gently pulling away and looking into his eyes. "I'm going to talk to my mom and dad, and see if you can stay in our guest room for as long as you need to. If not, one of mine and my dads friends owns a vacation hotel at the beach about a mile from here. I can get you a free room there and you can stay for as long as you need."
Draco was just in a state of bewilderment, that someone could care for him this much. He simply nodded some and hugged her again, rubbing her back with his paws. "Thank you, again. You're an awesome girl..." He shut the door behind her and led her into his house, clearing out a seat for her in the master recliner of the living room, before sitting down on the couch and leaning up against the arm. "He wrote me this note before he died." Draco tossed Sara the note, and looked up at a picture that had been taken of them when he was a hatchling. "The last thing I told him was I was old enough to make my own decisions and to leave me alone. I totally disrespected him. And I will never get the chance to say how sorry I am for it."
As Sara read the note, it brought a single tear to her eye as well. She wiped it away and looked up at him. "Well, what has past is past. There is nothing you can do to change it. The only things you can change are the present and future. So there is no use in crying over what has already happened and cannot change hun. Because right now, you have me. And in the future, you will have me." She then sat next to him on the couch and planted a soft, gentle kiss on his lips, slowly wrapping her arms around his neck as she continued in the kiss.
Draco's mind completely forgot about what had happened and flew into a state of total love and bliss as he kissed her back. His whole world just melted away as he embraced her in his arms. For once in forever he was at peace. For once he wasn't thinking about how his dad treated him or about the divorce. For once all he felt was love and the powerful beating in his chest, and the nausea in the pit of his stomach. He felt light headed and felt like he was going to hurl at the same time, yet he enjoyed every last second of it and wanted it to continue for the rest of eternity. As the two finally pulled away from the kiss, he nuzzled her cheek softly and leaned down to whisper in her ear. "I love you so much.."
As Sara pulled from the kiss and listen, she in turn whispered the same thing into his ear, letting out a soft, affectionate purr for him. She finally stood up from the couch and smiled. "Well, I will go talk to my mom and dad about it today and call you later. But if you need me for anything at all, call me. I will keep my cell phone close by if you need me ok?" With that she quickly walked out of the house and drove back home, her own spirits raised as well.
