#3 of Lucario's World of Pokemon

Hello SoFurry folks! Wondering what this is? Well, the world of Pokemon as created by Game Freak leaves a lot of things open to interpretation and innovation. So, people like me who write Pokemon stories often have their own elements and ideas that create many different versions of the Pokemon world. So, what I'm saying here is not that Pokemon is mine, nor do I own it, but this involves the World of Pokemon as I've envisioned it. And now, I'll turn things over to the first character I ever created for this world...

Lucario's World of Pokémon

Hello everyone! Professor Galen here! What's that? Professor since when? Okay...well, maybe not Professor yet, but I am working on it! But that's not the point!

What is the point you ask? Good question!

This is an idea conceived by our beloved author: LucarioZer0!

What is this idea you ask? Well, Lucario has long since come to accept that there are certain elements he'll never be able to include in our stories. Let's face it, exposition get's boring when there's too much, and some times you can't explain everything.

So, in a flash of uh...inspiration, I guess, Lucario decided to have we the characters fill in some gaps! So, every once in a while you'll hear from me or Valor, or whoever happens to be able to do this, so that we can help give you a better understanding of the world we call home.

This, is Lucario's World of Pokémon.

Part One - Guardian Training

So here's where we really begin. Today's subject: Training as a Guardian of Aura.

So now, faithful readers, the first thing to understand: why this likely won't ever be fully explored in the series. The answer? Guardian Training is a long and occasionally mind numbing process that can--and traditionally does--last for a full seven months. Explaining or describing the whole process in one of our stories would take quite a while. So, we'll give you an overview here! Plus it'd be mind numbing for Lucario to write.

Well now where to begin? Well, let's start with selection. It's really quite simple. To select a potential new guardian, we give them a Riolu egg. Legend has it that in the company of someone with an aura strong enough to be a guardian, said egg will hatch within three days--and for some reason we've built our recruitment practices around this legend...what the hell? No, I mean really, who came up with that? *sigh* Whatever.

Step two: Evolving your Riolu. Okay, this one makes a bit more sense to me. See, this part involves forming a close bond with your partner, something that's good for a Guardian pairing. So, in order to pass you have to form a bond close enough with your Riolu that they evolve within one week of being born. Talk about being rushed into adulthood.

So, assuming you complete these so called tests, you'll begin your training. The first month or so of training is what I think of as the "pass/fail" period. If you can't make it through the early stuff, you wash out. No guardianship for you. You'd be surprised how few actually do make it through this part. How does it start? Lemme tell you.

So, most trainers learn--at some point or another if they have a Riolu and/or Lucario--that while Lucarios can sense Aura, Riolus, in fact, cannot. Instead they can send out and receive pulses of raw emotion. Similar to Aura, but not exactly the same. So, much as a Riolu starts with emotion and learns Aura upon evolution, so too does a Guardian start with emotion.

The Guardian who fills the "Master" role, will spend hours sending out pulses of this emotional energy, while their student meditates, trying to sense them. As time moves on the Master will begin to exchange the emotion pulses with actual Aura pulses. This is a process in training that can take a highly variable amount of time. Me for instance, I had this part licked in a few days. Valor...well, let's just say he took longer.

So what comes next? Well, after learning to sense, comes learning to manipulate. We start with teaching our students to make small pulses, then we move on to shields, followed by basic raw energy blasts, and finally we teach the creation of our most versatile tool and weapon: the Aura Sphere.

Next we teach combat skills, which is arguably the most intense and difficult part of the training. This is not only because it requires large amounts of physical stress, but also cause we also continue to refine the skills learned in earlier stages.

The training eventually culminates in a duel where the student and his/her Lucario face off against their Masters. Now what matters here isn't coming out victorious--though I did happen to beat my Master...just saying. No, what matters here is demonstrating that you have control, prowess, and perhaps most importantly, restraint. There are initiates who have failed this final test simply because they lose themselves in the moment of the fight, and can lose control of their power. This is a rarity though, and by this point most trainees have learned to control themselves quite well.

A few interesting facts:

*A guardian is actually required to train a student at some point in their life time as a way of maintaining our numbers.

*Though there are seven different basic colors of Aura, there are also various shades that make even two people with the same basic color distinguishable from one another in the eyes of a Guardian.

*While a Guardian is learning to sense Aura, their Lucario partner will learn from their Master Lucario--which is quite frequently one of their own parents--about the Lucario species.

*There's actually a standing policy AGAINST recruiting those with red Auras except under special circumstances. Why? Because those with red Auras are most likely to lose control of themselves during their training. Trust me, I of all people understand that. But, we'll get there in our time.

Hm...what else...well, I honestly don't think there's much else I can say here that wasn't already covered, or won't be covered in a future part of the story. I guess that's all from me dear readers!

*Galen bows*

Until next time!
