The Loving Hour of Otters

*It was a clear night on the island with a few clouds out and everyone was asleep. Except for a certain male sea otter. He had black fur and quite the blue eyes along with a tattoo on his right arm. It was a simple line that curved and had some white dots surrounding it. His name was Reno Palm and for some reason he couldn't seem to fall asleep. The male kept tossing and turning at certain points to find a more comfortable spot in his double bed. *

*"God," he thought. "What is it that is keeping me from going to dream land? I feel like I need some help from The Sand Male." His mind then thought back to what had happened to his life as of late. And that was he had a girlfriend. Reno was dating a beautiful female sea otter by the name of Leilani Perriere. Words could do her no justice when it came to just how much of a looker the female was. With long black hair that nearly went to her waist, deep green colored eyes, chocolate colored brown fur, and the most heartwarming smile; Reno had to consider himself lucky. Or maybe it was more than luck. *

*The reason was because Leilani or Lani as she sometimes preferred to be called seemed so far out of his league. But they both had a lot of things in common. For one thing both were island natives. Reno was a native from the biggest island in the Hawaiian chain while Lani came from the Tahitian Islands region in the South Seas. Both loved to swim and dive, plus they could hold their breath the same amount of time. They loved the island life here on this particular one since it had a lot of simulates to their own homes, the sea food offered here, and some other things. *

Even with this, Reno had felt it would be impossible to get with her. How very wrong the male had been. He then turned his thoughts to how it had happened during the nine months of knowing the female otter.

*It all started when he had first arrived for just a visit about nine months ago. As it turned out his cousin, a river otter by the name of Cody was living here, so the male sea otter decided to pay him a visit. Sea and river otters were very close when it came to their DNA, so the two species could breed and have fertile children. In this case it was one of Cody's uncles who got married to an aunt of Reno's. So he was more like a second or third cousin. Even though the age difference was a few years between the two, both were very close. *

*He had arrived and greeted his cousin before being shown were he would be staying at. A little house by the beach big enough for two species at the most. The river otter then showed the sea one around the island for a bit. They had even run into a female that was the same specie as Cody by the name of Kira. Reno could tell his cousin liked her. *

*It wouldn't be until the next day when it would happen. The male sea otter went to one of the beaches on the island that was perfect for surfing. Cody and Kira came down to watch him. The black furred otter right now at the moment was out of the water. Seeing a big wave come in, the male hit it and went through the tunnel created by the crashing liquid. There was something about doing this that made Reno feel alive just like with diving. *

*Little did he know that Leilani had made it to this beach and was talking with Cody and Kira since she knew the two and had a friendship with them. The female otter had finished up with her salvaging for the day. What Leilani would do was search for things on the sea floor of the island. All so she wouldn't lose her ability to stay underwater for so long and to keep up her skills. The male sea otter decided he had been out enough and went towards the sand. Reno grabbed his board as soon as his feet hit land. *

*"So how was that?" he asked his cousin. The male hadn't seen her yet. But Leilani certainly had. *

*"Perfect as usual," responded Cody. *

*It was then that Reno got the feeling he was being monitored. He turned his head and saw Leilani. His eyes widened in shock as he saw the female only standing at 5 foot 6. Suddenly the light seemed to be drawn to her in his eyes as he looked at her waist-length black hair that seemed to shine, her deep-chocolate colored fur, and the greenest eyes he had ever seen. He felt his cheeks warm up as he blushed as well. Luckily his fur color was black or else it would have shown. Knowing this gave Reno a bit of confidence in order to talk. *

*As for her Leilani could definitely make out more of his features now that he was closer; from the muscles he had, the tattoo on his arm, and his blue colored eyes. The female sea otter suddenly saw sparkles surround this guy. All of a sudden her heart began to beat faster and butterflies began to form in her stomach as she took in his handsome looks along with his 5'10 height. Her cheeks became warms as she blushed looking at Reno. His voice had also gotten the female sea otter as well. She loved it already. *

"Hello there," said the male sea otter. "I don't think we've met." He turned to Cody. "Are you going to introduce me?"

*"Oh sorry," responded his family member. "This is Leilani. Leilani, this is Reno." The two made eye contact and something passed between the sea otters. *

*"Well nice to meet you," said Reno. Leilani finally managed to speak. *

"Same here." The male was lost by the sound of her voice; it sounded so beautiful. She then looked up at Cody and Kira. "I need to get going. I'll see you around." The female then walked away. Leilani could still feel the butterflies in her stomach, the blush on her cheeks, and the smile that had now formed on her face. Thoughts about Reno kept going through her mind. The sea otter couldn't help it. Then she felt a stirring in her loins for a brief second; a feeling she hadn't felt in quite a while. Was it love?

*Meanwhile Reno go zapped by the way she moved as she walked. Leilani was just in her bikini and the articles of clothing hugged the body perfectly. He could see the way her hips, tail, and ass move as she walked. The male had never seen anything like it before. He then felt a stirring with his crouch as it began to from an erection. *This wouldn't be the last time Reno and Leilani would see each other though. A few days later after meeting, the two had met up to go on a diving expedition. After the success of that, both otters ended up doing them as much as they could. *

*Sometime latter Reno was sitting on a rock somewhere on a different beach. There were others as to be expected on an island like this. The male sea otter was just looking out at the waves crashing in and thinking. And that was a Halloween party that had happened. He remembered the costume Leilani had on, that of a mermaid. It fitted the female well, and the male had just been left in shock at her. It left Reno to wonder how in hell someone like her could end up with him. At least he had learned her last name of Perriere and in turn he had told her his; it was Palm. *

*"Reno?" asked a voice. It was the female sea otter herself. She appeared behind some bushes and palm trees. He turned his head to her. *

*"Oh hey," replied Reno. *

"What are you doing here? Cody and Kira are waiting."

"I'm sorry. It's just that I needed a moment or two to myself." Reno then got up. "So what do you think of this? I discovered this rock just now."

*"Well you looked comfortable enough," answered Leilani with a grin. *

*"Maybe this should be our little spot," went the male as he climbed down. "Nobody else will know about it." The female let out a churr of amusement. *

*"Okay then Reno," she answered, giving him a dazzling smile. "Now let's get going." The two walked to the motor boat the female had. Cody and Kira were waiting for them. The female river otter had a bikini on that matched her fur color. *

"Thanks for inviting us out to do this," she said. "I really love to swim."

*Cody kept stealing glances at the female. Kira looked very sexy in her outfit. It made the male even more determined to get with her since meeting her. Reno on the other hand was having mixed feelings about this. Although he figured Leilani had set this up in order to get the two closer, the sea otter would rather have spent the time alone with her. However, the female sea otter promised this would be the only time. She just wanted to show the two some diving spots so that way they could go to them on their own. *

*"Whenever you're ready," he said to Leilani. The female sea otter turned on the engine and moved the boat to the first spot. After the engine was killed, the four got ready. Cody and Kira strapped small oxygen tanks to their backs. Although they could hold their breath for quite a while, the maximum amount of time was only for eight minutes just like river otters from our world could. It feel very short to what Leilani and Reno could do. When all four were ready, they took the plunge. *

The warm water hit four bodies, making them feel alive. Leilani looked and could see Cody and Kira matching her and Reno; obviously very comfortable in the liquid. The female had told the two river otters beforehand to have a bit of fun while she and Reno did their tasks beforehand but not to stray too far. Cody was in shock at how beautiful everything was. Kira then snuck up behind him and grabbed his tail, causing him to let out a startled shout. Bubbles came out of his mouth as his head whipped around to see her giggling. The female then darted around Cody with a smile. The male tried to get her, but Kira was too quick and swam out of his reach.

While he was working, Reno could see the two having fun. It made him smile. The two weren't paying any attention to him and Leilani. The male sea otter then felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning he saw the female with a grin and then she darted away. Reno rolled his eyes and went back to work. Suddenly Cody and Kira swam up to him. His cousin indicated with his finger to get the special slate he carried. Reno handed it to him and the male river otter wrote something down with the special pen the ocean otter had. It read, "We've spotted a cave nearby. Maybe Leilani knows something about it."

Reno got the female sea otter's attention and she looked at the message. Leilani then wrote on the slate after cleaning Cody's sentence with sand. Her statement read, "That's probably one of the underwater caves here. I've heard about them from the natives. You can go inside and find a chamber above water after a few feet. A lot of visitors go to them to check them out."

*Kira then wrote down which said, "In that case, let's take a look." Everyone nodded and took off for the cave. Reno turned on the underwater flashlight he had and lead the way. It was pitch black for a few feet before he noticed a light ahead. They made their way and surfaced with a gasp. They emerged onto the ground, dripping wet and looked around. The inside of the chamber was warm. The rock floor was smooth, providing a comfortable surface to walk on with bare feet. There were also lights by lanterns to help see. In addition a strange language was on the walls. The four didn't know what it was yet. *

*"Wow..." whispered Kira. "This is beautiful...." *

"It is," agreed Cody. He then noticed another section. He pointed it out and walked with the female river otter inside there. Reno and Leilani just stayed where they were.

*"So do you like it?" she asked and he nodded. *

"I'm surprised you didn't say something about this sooner," commented the male.

"I wanted you or your cousin to discover one of them," responded the female. "I thought it would be more fun."

"You're right, it was. But I wish I could have been the one to discover it and then show it to you..."

Leilani let out a churr of amusement. "Oh? And why is that?" He didn't answer and the female decided to let it slide. "Well we do have that rock you found." Leilani then touched Reno on the arm. It caused him to blush and look at her. "That I never knew existed."

*"Lani..." whispered the male. The next thing both knew, he had wrapped his arms around her in a hug. Now it was Leilani's turn to blush. But she returned the hug. And the female ocean otter felt her heart beating fast, calling out to the male. *

*"So that's it...what my heart is telling me," thought Leilani. "I love you... I love you Reno." And she realized that it was true. Everything about the male made her happy and want to be with him. The female had quickly fallen for him ever since the day she first saw him. And it was more than what usually happened for other males and females. This time the Leilani had found someone to be with as more than just a lover. *

Meanwhile Reno could inhale Leilani's sweet scent, loving the way her curves matched his. His heart was beating fast. "I haven't known you for that long..." he thought. "But I love you..." They stayed that way for the longest time. Eventually though, the time came for the four to head back. But that night when Leilani and Reno went to bed, their thoughts and dreams were about the one they wanted to be with.

*The two kept seeing each other. And yet Reno still felt like Lani was out of his reach. Sure there had been a talent show along with a dance. The male had managed to ask the female to these and she certainly had fun with him. He had even taught her surfing lessons. But even with that the beautiful sea otter couldn't be into him right? Little did Reno know that she was also having similar thoughts as well. The male was perfect for her, but Leilani felt that he was too good for her. *

*But then a very special event would happen and that was the female's birthday. It came on June 6th and were everything would change. Leilani had told Reno about it and the male decided to use the last two skills he had to maybe try and impress her. It might give him a chance. *

The celebration took place at one of the restaurants on the island and one of Leilani's favorites. It had a huge outdoor area that would work. She wore a flower in her hair along with a purple bikini top that was strapless, and a purple bottom that came down like a robe and exposed her legs that had yellow flower designs on it. Cody, Kira, Reno, and all the friends the female sea otter had made since moving here were there to greet her on this special day. But it was the male Leilani wanted to talk to the most.

*"You made it!" she squealed and hugged him tight after spotting him. Reno hugged her back. *

"I wouldn't miss this for anything diver girl," he responded. The male sometimes called Leilani that and she in turn would call him surfer boy. The two then pulled back. The female saw his eyes checking her out.

"So how do I look?"

"You... you look beautiful right now," stated the male. It was the first time he had said that out loud to her but had thought it so many times in his head. The she otter blushed but smiled while taking a look at him. He was wearing his swim trunks along with a grey shirt with no sleeves to show off his arms.

"Well you certainly look handsome yourself." Reno just looked away shyly and the other otter let out a churr. Taking the male's arm, the female was lead to the seat of honor with him by her side. First came the food which was a lot of sea food along with other things to go with it. But then came the cake. It was the she otter's favorite; German chocolate. But when it was over the time came for her presents. The ones Leilani remembered and touched her heart the most were the ones from Reno.

What the male did was get some kettle drums ready and played Under the Sea on them. When he did the female couldn't help but smile deeply. The blush came out on her cheeks and one paw went on under her right cheek as she looked on with love. Reno didn't notice her looking at him that way. The second thing the male did was perform using his fire eater skills that he had learned. It left everyone but especially her amazed. And to finish up that act, Reno swallowed the fire and blew it out, igniting a ring around a glass heart that had water in it. When it was over, he put on a bow. But Leilani just had watched on with awe. The female quickly found him after and gave him a bone crushing hug.

"Oh my god, those were amazing!" she stated. Reno hugged her back and felt Leilani kiss his cheek again and again. "I loved both gifts. Thank you."

"It's no problem. You deserve it." The two then pulled back. The male realized with those kisses he had to tell the female. "Listen Leilani. Do you think maybe you could meet me in a few days at that rock I found? There's something I need to tell you."

*"Of course. I'll be there." He suddenly leaned down and kissed the female on the cheek before walking away. Reno felt it was all he could do for now. This time he had nothing to lose. But the male needed time to prepare himself mentally. *

*A few days later Leilani made her way to the rock Reno had found. This time she was wearing short jean shorts and a red bikini top. As usual, the female had a flower in her hair and matched her outfit. Reaching the destination, she found Reno. *

*"Lani," he said turning his head to her as if on cue. The female climbed up to where he was and sat down next to him. *

"Hey there," she whispered and leaned against his body. Reno stiffened for a bit before relaxing. The two sat like that for a bit, just watching the waves lap the rock and shore. The female then turned her head up to him. "So... you said you had something to say to me."

The male took a deep breath before speaking. "Yes I do."

"Well before you do I need to ask you something. You only came here for a visit. Yet you have stayed longer than that. Why?"

"It's because... of you." Her heart seemed to skip a beat at that. "Lani, you are the reason I didn't want to leave. You're kind, funny, a skilled swimmer and diver, and most of all beautiful." The male took the female's paws in his. "And I have to know... are you taken?"

She didn't respond for a few seconds before speaking. "I am, by someone you know."

This got Reno confused. "I do? Who-"

Leilani cut him off by working her right paw out of his left so she could place one finger on his mouth. Only to replace it with her lips and cause the male to stiffen in surprise. But then realizing that this was really happening and that the female had no intention of stopping, Reno answer Leilani's kiss. Their tongues met the other, exchange the sweet taste each had as his arms wrapped around her body, bringing the she otter in closer. Her right paw stroked the side of his face while the other was on his muscled chest.

*How long they stayed like that, they didn't know but they came apart, trying to catch their breath. Leilani played her head on Reno's body. "So... I'm that person?" he asked. *

"You're silly, you know that?" the female murmured. It was now time. Reno place a paw under her chin to make the she otter look up at him.

"I love you," he said looking deep into Leilani's eyes. Finally saying those three words they both wanted to hear.

*"And I love you," she responded. "You know that." *

"Then... will you go out with me?" Her muzzle got closer until it was an inch from his.

*"I would love nothing more than that." Reno closed the distance and the second kiss was even better. The two were just happy to be together at long last after nine months. *

*The week passed for the two like they were in a dream. Both otters were so happy to be a couple and in love. They spent a lot of time together. Like one time heading down to a beach. "Reno," said the female, her voice sounding closer now.

The male otter took a couple of steps, wanting to get out of there before she had time to fuss at him. Reno was doing his best to keep his gaze on the sand and nowhere near his naked girlfriend. But the male then felt a presence beside him and froze, not knowing whether to close his eyes, look away, or do both, or neither.

"Reno," Leilani whispered, taking his left paw and placing it on her chest. "Look at me."

The male suddenly had his swim trunks off in a flash and his mouth was on the female's throat in a kiss. Leilani leaned her head back with a moan of pleasure. The article of clothing was thrown far up so the tide wouldn't take it. The towel was placed next to it. "I love you," he whispered.
