#40 of Astral High
Well, that horribly awkward and disturbing scene from last chapter is over. Now on to more interesting scenes and less perverted ones. Also of note, I'm not uploading tomorrow because of the DnD thing, and hopefully I'll be able to turn that into a story to upload on Sunday if not by Saturday.
We were almost to the bus when we got stopped by Tanner, "Hey, since it's Friday, and you guys know about... what word were you using?"
"Praecantatia." [Titus]
"Yeah, that. Umm, well, my brother's boyfriend knows a lot about channeling it, so maybe he could help you narrow down your search for your strengths." [Tanner]
"Are you inviting us over?" [Me]
"Yeah."
"I'm in." [Titus]
"I... I hate you too much-" [Ted]
"Ted, you need to get over your hatred for him, Tanner's not the bad guy. Marko is." [Seth]
"Shut up."
"No he isn't!" [Tanner]
"Tanner, I'm sorry to break it to you, but he's not entirely into you. At least, not as into you as you're into him." [Titus]
"That's not true. I do everything he wants me to, and I don't ask questions, because I love him. He's my first boyfriend, I can't think of life without him." [Tanner]
"Hey, I got over Valen, you'll be able to get over Marko." [Me]
"Who's Valen?"
"My first boyfriend. I dumped him, and I hate his guts. I'm kinda over that now, but, still."
"So, no one's gonna argue in Marko's defense? Absolutely no one?" We all just shook our heads and starred at him. "Of course. ... You know, it makes sense. He's had me do a lot of things he knows I don't like, and I'm just so stupid that I'm willing to do them for him."
"You're not stupid." [Titus]
"Titus, you hate me. You have no reason to say anything kind to me." [Tanner]
Titus took a step towards Tanner, "I don't hate you. I want to protect you. I want to keep you safe, from people like Marko." Titus inched himself close enough that he made his move, hugging Tanner, who just gave in, beginning to cry softly into his shoulder. We just kinda stood around awkwardly while they hugged.
"Hey, do you think it's possible for you to come over now?" [Tanner]
"Yeah, my mom doesn't care about me." [Titus]
"You sure?"
"Trust me."
"Oh-okay. Uhh, the car's this way." Tanner turned to head up the street, and Titus followed blatantly giving us all a thumbs up, indicating how giddy he was about this, despite the fact that Tanner's heart would need to be crushed before Titus could go out with him. We got on the bus and sat down around X and Zane.
"I thought you guys had PE for seventh, and... where's Titus?" [X]
"He went to go fuck Tanner." [Daniel]
"Wait, what?" [X]
"And to figure out his strength." [Me]
"Right, I still don't get how all that works. Could someone explain it to me?" [Daniel]
"Yes, and while you're at it, explain what we're talking about." [X]
"That super ridiculous secret that's slowly becoming common knowledge." [Seth]
"Oh. That. Well fuck you too." [X]
"Hey babe!" Jeran jumped into X's lapping, scrunching up his skirt in the process. He nuzzled his feathered head up under X's jaw, having to scoot down the seat to be at the right height.
"Hey!" [X]
"Babe? Ew, you guys hooked up?" [Zane]
"Says the guy who's dating Garrick." [X]
"Yeah, but, Garrick's an adorable otter. Jeran's a fucking avian."
"And you're a fucking fusky." [Jeran]
"Good sir, I am a folf. I am above such silliness." [Zane]
"And you thought I was unethical." [Garrick]
"Yeah, but, you planned to slaughter Christians. Zane's just being an ass." [Daniel]
"And plan I shan't. Now that you guys know why."
"Wait, you're in on it too?" [Zane]
"How did you know about it?" [X]
"Simple, like a quarter of the school knows, and every single one of them claims it'll be the end of the world if us 'commoners', as Jeran called us, found out." [Zane]
"Oh wait, we're talking about augmentation?" [Jeran]
"You... should tell me what that is." [X]
"Uh, it's safer if I don't."
"So what's yours? Blue?" [Daniel]
"I'm not proud of it." All of us except Daniel, Zane, and X burst out laughing.
"Wait, seriously?!" [Me]
"I still don't really know what that is." [Daniel]
"Well, let's just say it explains why Ra's always calling him whore." [Seth]
"Well yeah, he knows too. I mean, our families have been pretty damn close for over a century or some shit." [Jeran]
"Wait, so there's actually like... families that practice it?" [Seth]
"If you're thinking Harry Potter, think more modern and less secluded. Although, some are pretty secluded, we aren't." [Jeran]
"Harry Potter, what?" [Zane]
"I don't get it either." [Me]
"You need to read those books, Alex." [Ted]
"God don't, they'll taint your mind and fill it with falacy." [Jeran]
"Taint?" [Daniel]
"Fill?" [Ted]
"... I'll admit, I walked into that one." [Jeran]
"Stop teasing my boyfriend." [X]
"X, it's okay. Anyways, you said I could come over today, right?"
"Yeah. Will you tell me then?"
"Probably."
"You should do the same." [Zane]
"Hm, maybe." [Garrick]
"Only maybe?"
"I'm not exactly the coolest with it. I mean, mine's really rhythmetic and... it's not cool." [Garrick]
"Wait, your's is based on rhythm and music?" [Ted]
"Yeah, sorta. It's hard to explain without the limit of people finding out, let alone on a crowded bus of people who're all going to die in a couple weeks. Well, not her. Or her. Maybe he'll survive..." [Garrick]
"Couple weeks?" [Me]
"First wave begins two days after you play in the Fine Arts Competition. Second begins two weeks later. Third hits three days after, and the fourth won't occur for another half decade. Then the world eats shit." [Jeran]
"But if you use blue, how can you know that?" [Seth]
"Marko? Marko's damn good with time. Kinda eerie. He told me to take the yellow tray at lunch one time, and it saved me the last bread bowl."
"Wait, you guys think Marko can see the future?" [Zane]
"Think?" [Ted]
"Like he can't?" [Me]
"Marko's an ass." [Garrick]
"Wait, god dammit, I just realized, I forgot to get Tanner's address!" [Me]
"Oh, Tanner lives out in the fucking middle o' nowhere. Like a twenty minute drive from here to there." [Jeran]
"I can ride my bike."
"Not on the highway you can't." [Jeran]
"Oh, true. Dammit, and my dad's not gonna give me a ride, so I probably gotta hitch a ride from someone else."
"I can drive you." [X]
"Um, babe. You aren't going to Tanners until you find out." [Jeran]
"Why can't you just tell us?" [Zane]
"We will, at Tanner's." [Ted]
"I don't think I can go, my dad's getting a little clingy and trying to spend a lot of time with me and... it's not good." [Garrick]
"Well, you're dad owns my dad's business, they could go to a bar or something." [Me]
"Hm, true. Yeah, I'll see. So, what's his address?" [Garrick]
"I don't know, but I know which highway it is, and the house is close enough to the road that you can see their fucking lambo." [Jeran]
"The fuck is a lambo?" [Seth]
"You're kidding, right." [Daniel]
"I don't know jack shit about... anything, really! I mean, come on, I'm not exaclty the most active member of society."
"A lambo's a lambourghini." [Zane]
"Oh. That's a car right?"
"Yes!" [Ted]
"That time was a joke!"
"Oh. Sorry."
"Wait, how do they have a lambourghini?" [Garrick]
"I don't know, ever heard of insurance fuck ups, law suits, platinum, and dupllication?" [Jeran]
"Oh damn! Not wonder they have a lambo." [Garrick]
"How do you duplicate platinum?" [Me]
"What's that thing Zane doesn't know?" [Jeran]
"That explains it." [Daniel]
"I hate you guys." [X]
