The pain was fierce, and instantaneous. It was not bad to start off with, I had suffered the same when I had gone through glowers before, but then the body realised the glower wasn't leaving, and began to writhe in agony. I clenched my fists, trying to battle against the waves of pain surging across my body. My body changed form on automatic, changing into my bionic form, as though this was some way to combat it. The glower whispered.

"Be prepared, Alduin."

"I...am." I said, through gritted teeth, feeling the pain mount still.

I could still sort of hear the outside conversation. My eyes were tightly shut, and my ears weren't working properly, but I could hear the Lupogriff.

"You're doing it, Alduin!" he said, through the waves of pain, and my inner core was resolved with that encouragement.

Then there was a jolt of pain, it got twice as bad, and even this steeled core wavered. My entire body was rigid still, although internally I was quivering violently, as every nerve was screaming at this intrusion.

"Alduin, here comes the worst. Be strong." the glower whispered. With every last scrap of concentration, I summoned together a desperate and hasty defence from the tsunami that was coming. Silverine shouted.

"You're glowing, Alduin, you've got it!" he said, and hope bouyed through me.Then it hit me.

Dying had been nothing. The violent blast from the cauldron had separated me from my body so quickly that I hadn't time to react to it, I didn't even notice I was dead. This was agonizing though.

Every blood vessel, every muscle, bone and organ sent messages of unbearable pain through me, and my defence was blown away in a hyper core wind. I arched my head back, and howled, shrieking so loud it would have echoed down the passages. There was a quiet bang through my ears, were they still intact?Through my distorted hearing, I heard raised voices.

"Alduin, what's happening?" It sounded like Draco.

"Draco, don't!" Silverine.

"Do not touch him, Draco.Neither you, Time." this was another glower. But all these feelings were numbed, I couldn't remember anything, the conversation was swept away in an instant, into a black void of nothingness.

My eyes were seeing nothing but black, an infinite blackness, and my body felt numbed, as though I was unable to move. Paralysed, I howled again, and even my voice felt dampened, silenced. I felt nothing, but I could see something amongst the blackness. It was yellow, like a small picture of a glower.

"You're doing it, Alduin!" the glower whispered urgently."Once you get to that light, it's all done!"

I tried to summon the frayed and scattered winds of my consciousness, desperately trying to mentally force that light nearer. It slowly came closer, and the pain ebbed slightly. It was still excruiciating, and I was still a wreck, but my determination rode back in anger, summoned from where ever it had gone. I was going to do this!

I fell forwards onto the floor, but only was slightly aware of the outside world. I hissed.

"I am not giving up!" I shouted, inwardly or out spoken I didn't know. The glow came nearer. The glower was silent, letting me concentrate. the pain died some more, and with it, I realised the worst was over.I brought back more fragile pieces of conscience from the void, each individual shard being fitted together to form the most invincible power I could have.

The battle to get nearer the glower was like trying to grab a shadow. But it pulsed nearer, as I concentrated harder.

"I am going to do this!" I screamed, and suddenly everything snapped into place. The glow erupted over me, and my body suddenly felt exactly as it had before, although there was a power pulsing through them much more than ever before.I felt intensely weak, very sore, every part of my body stung like a wasp, but at the same time power surged through my limbs, the glower's power, dulling this pain. I suddenly thought clearer than I ever have, every thought in perfect order. Silverine gasped as I silently got to my feet, eyes still shut, and listened to everything around me.There was no noise, and I spoke softly, feeling the pain vanish.

"Silverine, who arrived?"

"Draco and Time Dancer. They must of been waiting outside the door."

"I was following you, Alduin, because I wanted a proper answer from yesterday." the firm but confused voice of Time Dancer spoke

"And I saw you walk off with Silverine, and decided that you needed moral help." Draco added to the canine's comment. I smiled.

"I did."

"So what, exactly, is going on?" Time Dancer asked.

"Alduin has, surprisingly sucessfully, merged with a glower." Silverine said. There was a gasp from both Draco and Time Dancer.

"Almost didn't."I replied."It felt so terrible."

Then Keen spoke in my head."My heartiest congratulations, Alduin, you did very well, although it wasn't entirely necessary to scream out loud." he gave a small chuckle at the idea.

"Did I scream that aloud?" I said this aloud too.

"Yes." Silverine admitted, but then realised I was talking to Keen.

"You did, I admired the sentiment. Now are you going to open your eyes?"

"What will I see?"

"What we see." the glower replied, and I opened my eyes.

For a moment, there was a gasp. This came from four of us, Silverine, Draco, Time and myself. They were gasping because my eyes were glowing gold, like a magician who is holding onto a spell for too long, and I gasped because of what I was seeing.

Everything around me, steel pillars and organic life, was perfectly normal, in the human way, but the glower's view was breath taking.

The steel was infinite rows of splinters of splinters of steel molecules. Each of those individual molecules shined with their own brilliance, an almost blinding light. But then to look upon life with these eyes...

By not concentrating, I could see everyone in their perfectly normal form. With the slightest thought, I ignored all the fabrics and materials surrounding them, gazing lustfully at their own astounding nakedness. Then I concentrated harder, and soon even the skin became dimmed, and I was staring at the muscles and bones of them, while yet seeing the skin as well. I could see everything. An X-ray would take a picture, and get white for bones, grey for muscles, I saw everything in it's true colours, all the way through. The magnificence was almost a glimpse into the heavens.

My expression stayed carefully blank, and I looked around at the four other glowers. They pulsed with their usual light, but I saw them, and concentrated. I saw beneath their light, at the intense core of light, and found patterns that no living or mechanical eye could ever see, and no two glowers had the same patterns. It was like fingerprints, except no one has been able to tell a glower apart just by looking at them.

Silverine spoke, his tone was one of awe, like I was the heavenly host or someone.

"Alduin, what do you wish?"

I laughed merrily, and even my voice had hints of the glower's mystical air to it. It sounded so much more lighter and ethereal.

"Silverine, you do not need to treat me like I am an angel. You've done this before too." the Lupogriff kicked the ground in a slight blush.

"Yes, but you..."

Draco was completely incapable of speech. Time Dancer likewise. But the dragon stepped forwards, and hugged me.

"Alduin, you sounded in so much pain, I couldn't help thinking you..."

I hugged him back, tears of relief." Draco, I can't stop you following me, can I?"

"As much as I want to say it, I want to take care of you."

"I love you too, Draco." I kissed him gently, and then smiled.

"Oh dear, Alduin's back." Time recognised my manner, and my grin which meant I had something interesting in plan.

"Now I feel hungry, does anyone else feel like a trip to the food store?"

"And I've got my camera glasses recording. Draco, can you pan one side while I pan the other, I want to record the reactions for future time?"Silverine asked the dragon. Draco laughed, knowing the Lupogriff's intentions precisely. I could take a fairly accurate guess even if I hadn't suggested it earlier, I could see his neural passageways in his mind working and humming together. But Keen spoke.

"Yes, you are capable of detecting thoughts and emotions, Alduin, but the glowers cannot read minds."

"You are reading mine?" I thought back at him.

"I merged with you, there is a difference." Keen replied. Time Dancer stepped aside to let Silverine and Devlin go past, and then offered a hand to me.Even though I felt so powerful, I felt weak on my feet.I felt ungainly, as those my feet weren't mine.

"Master..."

"Time Dancer, while I enjoy your company thoroughly, I have no wish to make you my slave or pet." I smiled, everyone was acting like I was their master, they were my play toy. They probably would be if I unleashed the full power of the glower, but that wouldn't be fair.

"On the contrary, Alduin. I am looking forwards to a couple of your sexual fantasies." Keen thought to me."Inhabiting a body during sex is, according to the glower that did it with Silverine, is by far the most intensely wondrous feeling we could experience."

"Yeah,"I thought," But I'm not going to make them bow down to me."

"That is a reasonable thing to do." the glower replied.

"Although, admittedly, I might want to try it on Alecto or Gareth."

"Trying it on Draco could be amusing."

"I'm not going to make that dragon submit to me, that would mean instant ravaging as soon as you left." I thought, and Keen laughed loudly.

We walked down the corridor.Yes, I walked, just because the glower was in me didn't mean that I floated too.I was holding Time's hand, and every time I concentrated, however briefly, she would feel a tingle in her hand. The glowers did not follow, they had no need to. We came to the door of the food store, and Silverine spoke to me.

"Alduin, give us half a minute to get prepared, then get Time to give you an entrance. This is going to be brilliant."

Both of them walked in, me hiding behind the door. Keen was chuckling, his sense of humour was always like one of the scouts. The door shut, and Time counted to thirty slowly. Then when she reached there, she opened the door and walked in.

"Ladies and Gentlemen."she boomed,"We have a special member of the crew here. Alduin has arrived, and see what's different about him!"

I walked in, my eyes half shut. No one could guess anything different, and as I stood inside the store, Grant spoke.

"O.K., I'll bite, what's new about him?"

I opened my eyes all the way, and Time spoke.

"He's merged with a glower." she stepped aside.

I managed to keep a straight face as the entire food store gasped. Many got to their feet, and were looking in absolute dumb founded ways. I could sense through their neural abilities, disbelief, incredulity, sensing their core emotions. Then everyone started rushing forwards, to touch and to clamour over me, and I began concentrating hard.

As I did, everyone coming towards me stopped, unable to move an arm or a leg. There was about one and a half dozen around me, suddenly looking very scared. And all I had done was raise a hand.I let it fall, and everyone regained control of their own limbs, and backed away to their seats.

"I would prefer not to get crushed by everyone."I smiled,"But if we can do this in an orderly manner when I sit down..."

I pulled a seat up next to Draco, and the dragon ran a clawed hand down my shoulder and arm.

"Could you tell us how, Alduin?"Ryan Viper asked.

Silverine stepped forwards, and spoke to the tiger."Merging is something that the glowers can do, and they find it easy, but the person they merge with experiences agonizing pain, Alduin almost died, and I felt like I was dying when I did it.We are the only two."

"So why not me?" Draco asked.

"While dragons are powerful, I doubt you could stand to the power of a glower, Draco." Time Dancer replied."Both of us saw him writhe, and I knew I wouldn't be able to."

"And those who are unable will die, or at the very, very least become insane. All of us had misgivings at Alduin's offer, but he was determined to prove us wrong, and god bless him he did." Silverine added, as Alecto came over to me, and kneeled on the ground beside me.

"Alduin, why didn't you tell us about this offer?"

"Partly because I was too scared to, Alecto."I replied."The glowers are powerful, I was unsure how it would end."

"But you can withstand them, and you have the power of one residing in your body." the fox said, in awe.

"I do now, although I certainly couldn't withstand them if they tried." I replied, that was quite true enough, they wouldn't even need to lift a finger.Wait a second, they didn't have fingers. Alecto took my hands, and hit the teleporter on his wrist.

We arrived in my quarters, and I was a little surprised at this. Keen was more than intrigued as well. Alecto bowed down to me.

"Alduin, put me in chains, I don't care how. I will be your bitch, as long as you fuck me."

Keen was laughing quite hard all of a sudden, and I smiled in sympathy for the fox.

"Dear Alecto, I can understand your passion for me, but surely there is no need for me to bondage you."

"I am yours,Alduin, I would feel honoured if you would."

Silverine arrived directly beside me with his teleporter.

"Alecto, is that any way to treat a glower?"

"I shouldn't worry, Lupo. Keen's laughing so hard I'm pulsing with power." I said gently, as the submissive fox looked worried.

Silverine looked at me."So what is this all about?"

"Same everyone else wants, to have me as their master while I'm a merged human. What was sex like when you did it?"

"Ah, I'm not surprised now." Silverine chuckled,"It felt a lot more pleasureable, they enjoyed it more, the glower enjoyed it, and I had it off with Alecto when I merged. Obviously Alecto put two and two together."

"I was wondering why it had felt so much more wonderful." Alecto looked slightly abashed by the realisation of what he had done.

This was getting terribly messianic. I sighed.

"O.K., Alecto." I pointed a hand at him, and concentrated hard. The molecules of clothing he was wearing reformed and reshaped, until before long he was wearing the head gear, an arm bracelet identical to the the teleporter, and a skirt like that of Anubis. I have to admit, the foxes do look stunning in that costume, and Alecto surveyed himself.

"I'll get my necklace and leg bands. But I see no bondage."

With a mental command, his leg bands and necklace appeared on him, small object teleportation being simple for a glower. Then I imagined chains and Alecto's legs were suddenly tied together by a light chain that was the same material as the lock Draco had used in my first Central New Year. He could easily walk, but not run, and his hands were likewise tied by about a metre or so of chain, so he could use his hands with out too much problem. A muzzle had appeared over his mouth, and was strapped around the back of his neck.

He gave a short bow, and I teleported all three of us back to the door of the food store. Notice the positioning, I was neither holding the fox or Silverine at the time.I didn't even touch my own teleporter.I just commanded it to happen, and it did. Silverine stretched.

"Just for the record, Alduin, I would also like to play submissive to you while you are merged. Nothing like bondage, but you are quite welcome to take my ass for a night."

Alecto turned, looking amazed, and then growled through his muzzle.

"He is mine, Silverine."

"Alecto, don't throw a sulk."I said, going to the door."You are aware that people will want to have it off with me."

"I do, but the nights are mine." the fox replied.

"We could argue about this." Silverine said, looming over the fox. Alecto growled defiantly.

"I might just pick someone else entirely, you two. Knock it off." I raised my voice in irritation.

That shut them up, and I walked back in.

Everyone turned again, and when they saw Alecto, I saw people begin to laugh.

"Apparently Alduin didn't think much of Alecto shifting him without his permission." Draco chuckled.

"No." I replied, with a grin," Alecto offered to be my slave while I am merged."

"No fair! What about the rest of us?" Doran demanded.

"Let's just work on what we've got." Keen said in my ear."They all want to be your slave, do I see something strange?"

"I was hoping you'd notice." I thought back."Maybe they enjoy the glower touch."

"That's strange, they all sink to the ground in pain when we do."

"Yeah, but it's an instant orgasm." I suggested.

"That is true. Maybe we should do it more often." the glower chuckled.

"So do you enjoy it?"

"It's brief, it doesn't last long, but it feels briefly nice."

I looked at the surrounding ranks."I'd say we've got enough volunteers."

Another glower hovered in."All planet fall is restarted.Business as normal, Silverine."

"Was everything paused just for the merge?" the Lupogriff asked.

"This time, yes.Not the previous half a dozen times. I'm sure Alduin is looking forwards to his planet fall, and I'm also sure my glower friend that resides him is likewise enthralled."

"Oh, I am." I chuckled, and Keen repeated this inwardly.

"Right." Silverine became official,"Everyone who was meant to go on planet visits assemble within the next two hours in the Great Hall."

He turned and left, rapidly walking away. I wondered idly where Kodey was.

"Concentrate, Alduin, you can detect people you know within a couple of hundred miles if necessary."

I did so, bringing my hands together and I could feel the power pulsing together. Every pulse would bounce away from me, the invisble energy passing through walls and people alike.Arachno was in his office, Marksman in the training room, Kodey was in Silverine's office, and I decided I should pay him a visit.

I nodded at Draco."I'll catch you up in the Great Hall."

"I'm coming too." Alecto added. He folded his arms defiantly, the light chains clinking together.

"On planet trip, yes, I'm just going to see Kodey."

"I was rather hoping I would be the first..."

"Alecto, Kodey is Silverine's lover, I don't intend to have it off."

"On the other hand, Silverine certainly won't notice, and Kodey will hardly prove much of a challenge against you."

Hah, the fox was openly suspicious of anyone taking away his master. I smiled at him.

"Alecto, can you accept my word you will be the first?"

"Of course, master." the fox bowed."See you when you get back." He turned and walked away, back to his quarters I suppose to get his gear. I turned to Draco, and the reptile laughed.

"O.K., now I'm puzzled, why is Alecto acting so?" Everyone was resuming their conversations and lunch/ breakfast.

"All those involved with sex with a merged person enjoyed it so much more, apparently."

"You intending to..."

"Draco, please!" I laughed, and the dragon did also," I would like to, but the first goes to Alecto, and after that we shall see.I'm just as curious to see what it's all about."

I vanished, and reappeared in front of Kodey. He was lying down in a corner of the office, reading a book, and he physically jumped at my arrival.

"Alduin, you scare... what happened to your eyes!" he backed away physically.

"Sit down, Kodey, you panic too easily." I lifted a hand, and Kodey lifted into the air.

"With good reason!" he shouted, as I gently set him down on the comfy chair. I sat at the one next to him.Silverine's great chair was across the table, we were using both the employee chairs, as I would term them.

"So how did you do that, and what's with your eyes?"

"I merged with a glower this morning."

Kodey jaw dropped, and he looked at me in terror.

"What is your purpose in visiting me, Alduin?"

"I just thought I'd pop by, see how you were getting on."

"Everything's fairly quiet today.Silverine..."

"Is coming, Kodey, the glowers restarted the planet trips, they only stopped them during my merge."

"I have to get my computer." Kodey got to his feet, and started collecting things. He liked to be the clerk of the court, he wrote down everything that took place, so we had records. He was thoroughly organised and sensible in this way.

He also kept things impeccably neat, unlike Silverine. Silverine's desk was a clutter of papers and his own personal toys, I noticed a miniature R/C helicopter underneath a paper, nope, stand corrected, two helicopters, each about as big as your hand. The Lupogriff had to have some sort of hobby to kick back and relax with. But Kodey, while he had all his equipment, and his own hobbies, his small desk in the corner hinged open like a school boy's desk, except it was a) made of some very fine wood and b) the hinges were made of some special metal, maybe silver or electrum. He opened it up, and his computer was on one side, and a small stack of books on the other. He kept his C.E.O pistol there also.

Kodey took out the computer, it was slightly bigger than his hand, and flipped it open, like the conventional laptop. He pulled from the side one of those special pencils, and began tapping the screen with complex instructions.

"Ever the neat and sensible, aren't you, Kodey?"

"Some one had to do the admin here, no one else really gives a damn about it." Kodey gibed back.

"The glowers do." I replied. Kodey shivered unintentionally.

"Sorry, I forgot that, but I'm good at it, and besides, I go with Silverine on his trips."

"Yeah, you did so much better with those Euarctos bears than we did."

"I suppose I was less imposing than you. Silverine was actually outside the village, although they did see him when that scorpion tried to run me down."

"I am a reasonably nice person with new people, but I loom, that's my problem. I am too well armed, too tall, and my little smile makes them nervous. You on the other hand..."

Kodey grinned, looking up."I? I have one phaser, if they knew what that was capable of, I would be treated like you. But I don't like displaying it, it's normally in my bag."

"Good tactic." I nodded, just as Silverine walked in.

"Kodey! We're.... oh." The Lupogriff saw me, and stopped dead. Kodey looked up.

"Is there a problem, Silverine?"

"How did he get here?"

"Teleported in front of me." Kodey said, looking at his computer. I concentrated hard, and could sense he had nothing open on his page, he was just looking at the background.

"No place like home, Kodey." I said, as Silverine began ruffling through his papers, dislodging a remote control for one of the copters. The reindeer jumped , and flushed.

"I just thought it would be nice to have a picture of my family."

"Am I saying otherwise? That's why they call it a Personal computer." I chuckled,"Besides, I can't go anywhere without my rifle being there,it's my way of having home with me."

"We're all sentimentalists, eh Alduin?" Kodey smiled, walking over to me.

"Indeed. Now I have to fetch said rifle, and assemble with everyone else." I vanished, and arrived in my own quarters. I grabbed my day pack, and spoke to Keen.

"Why do you hover so often when you can teleport like this?"

"As you saw, you terrified Kodey on landing, and you are the unimposing human. Besides, we are unhurried in our movements. While teleportation is handy, there is nothing like getting there slow and steady, it means you can think on the way."

"Yes, Keen. So you do it when you urgently need to talk to someone?"

"Yes, and nothing else. There is one difference, we are very laid back when it comes to getting about, there is no rush. Everyone else, most noticeably Abigail, likes to get there instantly. Her teleporter is so much more advanced than everyone elses, it does not obey the same rules yours does."

"What about Drason's coup, did you hurry then?"

"We knew something was up, and we had a glower stationed near the food store. While we respected Drason's presence the first time as a visitor, we could see the evil intentions flashing through his mind. So we watched, and waited."

"Can I harness the power the glower did when he got angry?"

"Of course, but you need to be careful, make sure you aim carefully, otherwise you might hit one of your friends. He was merely annoyed, I am interested to see how a short tempered human will fire when his blood is boiling."

"I am not short tempered." I protested.

"Are you really going to try and argue this point with me?Two words, Drason, Grant."

"Oh come on, that's a bit unfair, basing me on that. Drason was trying to take Central, Grant had been mortally wounded."

"Even so, you must be aware that you are prone to exploding with anger."

"I'm not denying that, I'm just denying I've got a short fuse." I enjoyed the banter with the glower, and he was chuckling, meaning he was enjoying it too.I got everything together without resorting to the glower's power, and put on all my weapons. The glower got another chance to tease me.

"You currently have the power to obliterate anything in your fingertips, why the armoury?"

"The rifle is a memento of home, the dagger is a present from Veronica. The other two are just ornamentation."

"A rocket launcher, an ornament? Perish the thought. You use that so often Covington's got a secret stash of shells locked up somewhere for you."

"A handy ornament. The sword is for show, but it's also from home, and it helps if I get in a hand to hand situation."

"So two mementos of home, a present, and a ornament you borrowed from someone who was trying to kill you with it."

"That's about right. We all have our little ways."

"You have some fairly big little ways." the glower laughed, and I chuckled, walking out the door with my gear. As I did, I noticed Simba waiting patiently.

"I heard you arrive as I left, I thought I might as well wait." the lion medic said.

"Thank you, Simba. None of this almighty thing?" I suggested.

"I did notice some of that from the others. But the glowers are not invincible, just formidable. Same as you. And everyone needs me or Arachno some time."

"Good answer. Alecto's acting as though I'm a god, Silverine won't properly look me in the eye, and the others just want to touch me, or have it off with me."

"I would like to have it off with you, I want to feel what this special experience is like, it's just I'm not asking openly."

We went back to the Great Hall.

It was fairly crowded, and those on break were watching each party leave. Silverine spotted me, and I walked down the length, with people looking at me, nudging each other and talking amongst themselves. Simba whispered. "Hah, plague carrier." "Not...
