Krystal, Blaire and Mitch 3 - Where's my son?
#4 of KBM
Panic had stricken the Novus Ingenero lair as Sally's screams echoed through the long halls and zigzagged down the corridors. The level of noise had attracted Mitch as he joined the rest of the team around the three girls and their mother. "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU THREE??!!?" cried Sally with tears streaming down her face. "We're old enough to make our own decisions," defended Ruby. "You have no idea how big this is do you? No idea at what you've gotten yourselves into?" Sally pointed to the TV as the news began. "The news that's hit the system today is the new renegade gang. The incarceration of a vixen known as Krystal has sparked great controversy between the planets in the system. Cities such as Urios has united in an attempt to gain what they call 'a vain play at justice' to be disbanded and Krystal set free. Others, however, have called for death in the up-and-coming trial. The young vixen has been connected with the kidnapping of her life partner Sally Wolfe and a number of her friends including the murder of one Fang from the planet Mobius." "Fang wasn't murdered!" cried Mitch in complete awe at the claim. "Furthermore, the aforementioned renegade gang comprises of Krystal's three children and a family friend already hunted by the police once before. They have already attacked the famous Club Love and Mycon Museum with deaths reaching the hundreds." Scenes of Club Love and the Museum appeared on the screen. Numerous body bags and blood stained walls were all to be seen. Mitch turned to see a callous Blaire leaning in the doorway. "The gang is armed and incredibly dangerous and a reward has been placed on any member of the gang by the police; the members can be taken in dead or alive." Sally switched off the TV and looked concerned at the guilt-stricken trio, "Dead or alive? Is that all you are now??" She took off through the crowd with Chloe in hot pursuit as Mitch sighed heavily.
It had been several days and the hope of escape for Krystal seemed to slowly wither with every passing day. She knew she would never give up hope; for now, it was all she had. After hearing nothing of confession and a plea of innocence the police had decided that she was far too dangerous and dysfunction for normal prison. She was transferred to a confinement cell in a maximum security person on the third moon above Rygax 5. Her suit was taken and swapped for an orange jumpsuit as she spent each day lying on her bed, her mind too troubled to hear any call of help from her friends. Through mediation and thoughts of her family was she able to keep herself on the brink of losing her mind. Her heavy door clunked open as a guard entered with tools in his hand. Forcing her into a muzzle, straight-jacket and fixed collar, he allowed a visitor to enter her room. "Amber?" cried Krystal in relief. "Krystal! I can't believe they've done this to you. How are you?" With her words Krystal kept strong on her will of no tears, "I miss my family...my friends..." "We are trying all we can to have your name cleared." "But all my DNA...it was all over the crime scenes..." Amber could tell of her distress and hugged her tenderly with a slow, comforting rocking motion.
"Those people didn't deserve it," cried Mitch, attempting to find an reason in her madness. "They were bad people. We got your friends; I don't see why you're so sentimental," grunted Blaire callously. Blaire showed no emotion, no fault in her actions. Keeping to her resolute attitude she began to clean the blood of the innocence from her prized daggers. "What were you trying to prove?" raised Mitch as his temper boiled. "I wasn't trying to prove anything. I got the job done yet your weaknesses cloud that from you." "Cherishing life isn't a weakness." "And yet you're so pathetic..." There was a lot Mitch could take but that was it. He approached the bat and grabbed her arm with a determination to prove a point, "You listen here. What you did was careless and..." Before he could even finish his sentence Blair had slid under his grip, shunted him to the floor and had her daggers at his throat, "No you listen. I did what I had to do and things worked out for both of us. If you dare threaten me again I won't think twice about killing you." Mitch struggled under her grip yet it seemed unbreakable. Something about Blaire caught his eye, however; a tell he hadn't noticed before. Tears of pure crimson blood had began to cloud Blaire's eyes as she pulled herself off Mitch and held her head. After dusting himself off and supporting his arm he approached her side in worry, "Blaire, are you okay?" "I'm fine...just leave." "But you look..." "Just LEAVE," she ordered as she held her pounding head. Mitch knew not to cross her again as he left in peace.
Chloe solemnly opened the bedroom door to find Sally sitting tucked up on the bed holding a pillow tightly in her hands, tears streaming down her face. "It'll be okay," assured Chloe as she crawled next to Sally on the bed. She swung her arm round her and pulled her close in a calming embrace. Sally's sniffles made it difficult for words to escape her throat. "I'm just...so worried about them..." wept Sally as she gripped tighter onto Chloe. Chloe slowly stroked her hair, "I know what it's like; my Scott always loved to fight and seeing him in the middle of battle is always so scary. Cerinian blood pumps through their veins and with Fang's teachings they are unstoppable. Have faith in them and they will pull through for you." "But...but I'm not the strong one. Krystal is the one who makes these decisions and I just put a brave face on things," sobbed Sally as the thought of her lost love sent her deeper into sorrow. With no kind words for a lost love Chloe just continued to hold Sally until she slowly drifted off to sleep. Then she crept away and returned to her chamber where Mitch was waiting for her. "Back again are we?" called Mitch from the bed as Chloe closed the door behind her, "Can I never get rid of you?" A malevolent smile beamed from Chloe's face as a thin layer of fire washed over her. Swaying closer to Mitch and crawling onto the bed, she giggled, "Anywhere you go and whatever you do I'll be there. In ten, twenty or even a hundred years time I'll be there. You'll never get away from me." Feeling her powerful heat Mitch was at her mercy as she perched above him. "Reunited at last, eh Mitch? Now let's say we pick up where we left off?" "And where was tha-hey that's hot!!!"
A injudicious knocking on Mitch's door signalled Sly's entrance as he stopped in shock at the door. With his haste he had not realised that Mitch and Chloe were tucked up in bed together, snoozing away in each other's arms. What he knew could not wait, however as he sneaked to Mitch's side. Placing his hand softly onto his arm he shook Mitch, "Mitch...Wake up Mitch..." Mitch slowly began to stir as he took a deep breath and squinted jadedly at the young chameleon. "Sly? What's up?" "You're not going to believe this; I was taking a walk outside to find a spot for some weapon testing and I spotted a mysterious looking guy snooping round your house. The weird thing was he had a guy with him with a sort of red and yellow pattern to his fur. Sound familiar?" Mitch sprung up in realisation, "Scott!" Looking over to the still sleeping Chloe he tucked her back in and pulled on some clothes. Sly waited outside the room as Mitch soon emerged, zipping up his fly. "Shall I wake the others?" suggested Sly. "Nah it's fine, we can take care of this." The two entered a larger room than the rest; the armoury. Mitch grabbed ‘Shorty' and his sword as Sly grabbed an assault rifle. The two set off for Mitch's house.
The cooling ocean breeze was perfect for calming the nerves. It was lucky that the lair was a short walk to the house as the two soon approached with a perfect silence. Sly felt in the curious mood and a talk would help to calm his nerves. "So," he began, nervously, "You and Chloe are..." "An item?" he interrupted with a chuckle, "You could say that." "You seem to get along very well!" "Yeah she's great. If it wasn't for my ignorance she would have never been captured." Sly saw Mitch's smile fade and decided to concentrate on the goal ahead, "Who are we going to save?" "My son. His name is Scott like you." "You and Chloe had a son!!?" "It wasn't really planned or anything. Nice mistake though..." Through the layer of trees they could see the lights cutting through the darkness from the house. Sly and Mitch took cover behind a bush to scope out the scene before advancing. Inside the house I was being dragged up the stairs by my cuffed hands and thrust into the room onto my face. The merc followed and scanned the room for an signs of life. "Seems like your dad ain't here ay lad! You wouldn't happen to know where he'd be?" His accents was thick (Irish) as he removed his pistol. He was a dark green panther with a long, thick coat and boots. My silence only kept him waiting impatiently. "I hope you're not holding out on me," he struck me in the face with his pistol, "'Cause that'd be bad for the both of us..." I could feel my anger rising as my fur burned with rage only for the merc to pull out a control and zap me with energy. My body twinged in unbearable pain as another smile appeared on his face. "Calm yourself mate." He turned off the collar and pointed his gun at me again, "Now tell me where your father is." Spitting the blood from my mouth, I keep my insolence, "Fuck you." With a final pistol whip to the face I could tell his tolerance had faltered as he cocked the weapon and place the barrel on my crown, "Fuck knows I don't need an oblivious retard then..." I closed my eyes and thought of the things close to my heart. Sol, Miranda, Chloe...Mitch. I would never see any of them every again. I final tear rolled down my face as I utter my last goodbyes silently under my breath. All of a sudden the door burst open to reveal an angered Mitch charging through. With a mighty punch and a strong tackle he pulled the guy across the room and through the window, crashing to the ground below. A red chameleon jumped beside me and helped me from my restraints, "My name is Sly, I'm here to help you," he told me boldly. The merc pushed Mitch off and regained his stance, "Ah so you're the sorry fuck that's been ruining our contract?" Mitch removed his sword and tightened his grip for the battle, "Contract? You're a mercenary?" The merc removed his knife and held it downwards in his grip, "So you're not stupid. We are Rahernd company; the most feared group of mercenaries in entire system. A commission came through to use on a target named Krystal. We were told not to kill her but to disgrace her through blackmail and incarceration. After kidnapping all her friends and leaving some ‘evidence', she was locked away and we received our deposit. We receive the rest when she's found guilty with a life or death sentence. You, however, seem intent on ruining our contract." "Who the fuck commissioned you?" questioned Mitch, his hate flaring through his eyes. "I can't be telling ya that now can I? Confidentiality mate. Now the little matter of our fight." The merc looked down to Mitch's feet and chuckled, "Well you ain't gunna last long with undone shoelaces." As Mitch looked down a punch landed him several feet away. Although dazed, Mitch pulled himself to his feet and dusted himself off. "Dirty fighter huh?" As Mitch went for a swipe the merc easily parried him off with a slash of his own. The two began to exchange blows, sustaining cuts down their arms and on the mid-section. The intensity and rage within Mitch flared through his jet black fur. The merc fought vicariously, acting as if the fight wasn't even going on. With a sharp kick to the torso sent Mitch flying. Before the merc could cover the ground, Mitch produced ‘Shorty' which gave the merc sometime to seek cover. Blast and reload of quick succession kept the merc behind cover as he removed his pistol from it's holster. Mitch took his place behind a boulder as the merc took to hiding behind his car. Gunfire blasted from both sides and rolled off the cliff, coating the calm waters in the screams of the broken wind. Me and Sly appeared at the front door to see Mitch in real trouble. With a leap into the air I came crashing down onto the car with my blade as the merc rolled out the way. "Fine, I'll kill your dad the ol' fashioned way," sniggered the merc. With a mighty kick of unnatural strength sent his car crashing towards Mitch. I sprinted after the car and gripped my still jammed blade as the vehicle struck Mitch and sent him over the edge of the cliff. "DAD!!" I cried from the back, not knowing if he fallen or not. Sly appeared by my side to confirm he was alright, hanging by the bumped by his fingertips. "Come on Scott," he cried through exhaustion, "You can do it!" My muscles tensed and twitched under the sheer strain of keeping the car from going over. I knew I had to summon all the strength within me. Gripping to the rear as tight as I could I pulled back on the car, pulling it up from the cliff face. I knew Mitch couldn't hold on for long and my pace was agonisingly slow. With a final swung I pulled the car onto the edge by it's side and collapsed by my Dad's side with a smile. Both of us were completely exhausted. "Not as *huff* strong as your ol' man *pant* eh Streak!!" he chuckled, giving me a friendly punch on the arm. It seemed like forever we laid there; I couldn't have been more happy.
I was introduced to our companion on the way back. His wild looks yet serene manner reminded me of myself. Plus he was a friend of my little Miranda and any friend of Miranda was a friend of mine. "So Sly," I began, coyly, "Got a girl?" "No," he replied in a sheepish manner. "But he has his eye on Jewel," chortled Mitch, playfully pushing him. "Piss off!" "Oh Fang's daughter, very nice!" I hooted. "Do you?" remarked Sly, obviously desperate to change the subject. "I...did..." came my now darkened voice. I could feel the rage build within me. Everyday I would think about those that took my Sol away from me; the pain never went. I could see her in the eyes of Miranda and her beauty in Miranda's smile. She was the best gift that Sol gave me and I thank her everyday. She would have been so proud of Miranda. "I'm so sorry," awkwardly responded Sly with guilt in his voice. "Don't be! I miss her but I am comfortable to talk about it." Soon we had reached the lair to find an anxious Chloe waiting for us in her dressing gown. "What if they've been hurt?" worried Chloe to Sally. "Hi Mum," I announced from behind her. At first she did not react, staying dead still as if she was frozen in time. Only when she turned did I see the tears of relief in her eyes. She practically tackled me when she hugged me, covering my face in big, soppy kisses. "OH MY BABY BOY'S BACK!!!" "MUM!!! Please..."
