No Light to Be Seen Book 2: Chapter 4
#26 of No Light to Be Seen
Sorry that this took so long :( been having a problems with writers block and have been really freaking lazy. On another note the next insert unknown number here are going to be Jayne's story. Haven't figured out if I'm going to make another folder under a different title or just keep them here...so be on the lookout for those! :D.
This means I'll probably be writing two stories at once when Jayne's story reaches a certain point. Yaaaaaay uploads taking even longer >_> Wish me luck!
To protect myself from copyright: I do not own Pokemon franchise in any way so Nintendo please don't send your ninja's after me.Thank you!

Trevor inhaled deeply through his mouth as to avoid smelling the putrid air of the Light One's close to bursting med bay. Tuning out distractions in the current environment was a bit easier than Trevor anticipated with his eyelids tightly shut together. Practice makes perfect indeed. Still holding in the breath that was inhaled, Trevor put the events that landed him here in rewind for what felt like the thousandth time.
Last time.
As Darkrai punched Steve up in the air again: Trevor willed his body in the daydream to move. But found himself immobile and drawing a blank on what course of action he should have taken to better the situation.
_Do something! Anything! _
The scene played out just as Trevor remembered it but in a tortuously slow motion. But this time when Darkrai approached Trevor. The Dark Master was bellowing that damned laugh of his while Trevor's huge fist passed right through him. Once the feeling of helplessness was at its peak: a word that Trevor couldn't quite hear or understand was uttered right before everything went black.
Why wasn't I dealt with like Steve was? I was a little banged up sure, but I seriously doubt Darkrai has the capacity to feel pity. Mew at one time said Steve had something that I didn't. Is that why I was spared, just wasn't worth the energy?
The last thought made Trevor grit his teeth with rage that was all too quickly swallowed up by the feelings of helplessness, guilt, and depression slowly drowning Trevor. These cascade of emotions were robbing Trevor's lungs of oxygen and making his chest ache even when he allowed himself to breath. Wasn't the first time the thought crossed Trevor's mind. Almost every time Trevor thought it, a nurse had interrupted his thoughts to make sure he was ok because he was wheezing so hard and loud.
By now Trevor's lungs were screaming at him to breathe as spots danced across the darkness of his eyelids and nausea and dizziness began to consume him. Ignoring these warning signs Trevor imagined all these thoughts and emotions swirling around his head as smoke. That accomplished Trevor willed that smoke into his mouth. Made sure all the smoke was there before finally exhaling just in time to avoid passing out.
Peace...for the first time in a long time since waking up that morning in a hospital bed next to Steve's- Trevor at last was free from the attacks from his own emotions and his own mind.
Before it all came flooding back. That is until Trevor heard the voice that made his heart skip a beat and swell.
"Couldn't sleep in your own bed for one night?" the raspy voice murmured, the once comatose Steve was now beginning to stir within Trevor's arms briefly before tensing up to the stiffness of a board as if hit but a sudden incredible pain. A loud groan squeezed past Steve's lips just before he began coughing violently.
Suddenly embarrassment and worry hit Trevor like a truck as he immediately began trying to wiggle his way out from under Steve's body weight. Butended up freezing all movement when the slightest motions made Steve yell in pain. Which left Trevor's torso awkwardly between the bed and floor, rubbing the beginning of a soon-to-be huge ass bump he had picked up when his cranium decided it was a good idea to kiss the floor. Despite his current predicament Trevor swallowed back the string of curses building back in his throat long enough to apologize profusely while almost screaming for a nurse.
Trevor debated with himself whether or not it would be better to try pushing himself back up on the bed somehow despite not being able to grip very well on the slick tile or attempt a wiggle the rest of the way into the floor. In the mist of this debate: two very muscular arms shaking from what Trevor had thought was weakness until they had pulled him back onto the bed and he saw Steve in middle of laughing almost hysterically; amusement only interrupted only the man's harsh coughing "I was teasing so take the joke as it was meant to be. I'm actually grateful to have you this close when I have no idea where the fuck I am or why I feel like I've been ran over by several semis"
Before Trevor could move, Steve had already grabbed onto both of the Styrofoam cups of water being offered to him by the nurse. Not even offering the doctor and nurse a glance as they busied themselves running their tests and check-ups. Trevor had to bite the inside of his cheek while watchingthe water sloshing and spilling over the lip of the cup all over Steve's side of the bed with every ragged hack that shook the agent's whole body; knowing full well if he tried to help it would just make the spilling worse. Despite everyone's audible protest Steve shifted so that he could now focus on Trevor fully. After giving Trevor a quick studying glance: an expression of concern passed over Steve's face as he gave the other Styrofoam cup to Trevor. Trevor automatically seized the offered cup as reflex, In the middle of him doing so Steve said "Man what happened to you? You look like shit."
Trevor managed to squeeze out a hollow half-hearted chuckle "I'm not the one who's been in a coma for about three days from shock nor am I the one who had to have nearly every bone in his body reset after they tried to run every major organ through thanks to being thrown into a wall at almost 60 miles an hour. My injuries are extremely minor compared to yours"
The male doctor shook his head with disbelief at Trevor "You're joking right? Last I checked you yourself are recovering from adislocated jaw and arm, broken arm and a few ribs, and have about a hundred tiny pieces of shrapnel embedded into your back and buttocks which are rapidly becoming infected because you neglected to tell anyone that they were there, and the swelling won't go down in your eye and face won't go down for at least several weeks of constant cooling. How on earth to you classify those as 'minor' injuries? BOTH of you are extremely lucky to be alive. Any lesser men would surely die on impact! So why in the hell would you even think about comparing something serious like a child comparing scores on a video game?"
Steve chuckled while Trevor rolled his eyes only to wince when Steve patted Trevor in the back "Normally I would say getting hurt this badly is no stranger to us in our line of work. But it mainly because this guys turns everything and anything into a competition. And I mean anything. Hell there was this one time when-" Steve froze then whipped his head back around towards Trevor fast enough to that Trevor was surprised he didn't get whiplash; Steve's expression was now positively livid.
Oh crap he made the connection Trevor's gulp was audible
"How and when did you hurt yourself, if you don't mind me asking?" Trevor tried to wiggle free but this reaction only seemed to anger Steve further to the point where he recklessly threw his body on top of Trevor's. Both had to grit their teeth to muffle their screaming to a respectable level .
"Get off!" yelled Trevor biting back the urge to both vomit and throw Steve halfway across the room.
"Tell me first!" Steve seemed to have second thoughts about pinning Trevor down since he was only now considering the pain of their various injuries giving them. But couldn't seem to hold up his own weight long enough to push himself away with how weak Steve was pretending not to be
Considering that Steve was what some would call a 'big boy' it took several people and Pokémon to wrestle Steve off Trevor. But in the middle of the struggle it seemed Steve changed his mind once again since he became adamant of getting off his husband without a fight or an answer. This wouldn't have been so much a problem if not for the fear of re-breaking the bones that the multiple sessions of Healing Pulses made usable but were still fragile in their process of hardening.
"Fine! I broke my right shoulder and a few ribs when I slammed into the wall when Celebi blasted us by accident back at the cabin. The shrapnel was from the stereo system that broke my fall...you already know what the swelling is from which was also the cause of the dislocated jaw so don't make me repeat the reason considering how embarrassing it is. I dislocated my arm when it broke my fall after Darkrai knocked me" Finally all the fight left Steve as he allowed himself to be moved off Trevor, allowing everyone to breath a bit easier. That is until they looked at Steve's expression and saw that he looked close to physically lashing out around him.
"So let me get this straight. You were under most likely extreme pain yet you say nothing. You do realize the physical condition of your body not only effects you but also endangers everyone else's as well as the mission?"
"I was going to tell someone eventually when it was most convenient or when the pain became too terrible" Trevor mumbled while fidgeting and looking everywhere else but Steve's direction.
"Not good enough!"
Trevor opened his mouth but Steve continued on "What if we weren't knocked out before the fight started? What if there was a point in the fight where we were direly needed? You have no idea what of happened! Trevor communication in this line of work is dire! Did the academy teach you that or were you sick that day?"
"Well part of Trevor's silence isn't really his fault..."squeaked the seemingly mousy nurse who leapt almost off the floor when Steve's fiery glare switched focus on her.
"How?" Steve demanded, his natural extremely deep voice almost made the word come out as a growl
"Hmmm I guess this means you are not aware that he has no pain receptors in the parts of his body where we found shrapnel." mumbled the male doctor as he put on his reading glasses to flip through one of the charts that was once located at the foot of the bed.
"What? No! Why would he have no pain receptors?"
"Steve remember my scar?" There was some shuffling before it stopped and Trevor cleared his throat "Um...isn't there supposed to be a curtain or something?"
The doctor didn't laugh but the amusement was written all over his face "You're in a med bay, not a hospital my friend"
"No need Tre. I remember it, I always assumed it was a just a really big birthmark that coincidentally looked like a little kid's interpretation of the sun" The doctor and nurses that stayed gave Steve a long unbelieving 'You've got to be kidding me' stare causing Steve an almost animalistic growl to escape from his teeth as he tried (but failed) to make them into a smile."Not everyone has doctorate degrees you know" Steve replied with way more than just a little snark seething into his tone.
"It's actually a scar from a third degree burn that I got in college. Burnt all of the pain receptors so that spot is completely numb to anything that touches it."
"Is there a story of how it happened?" The another nurse mumbled the first series of words she said throughout the entire conversation.
Trevor sighed "It's stupid I rather not-" The look Steve was giving him made Trevor reconsider "Fine. I was dating this guy in that was a little..." Trevor seemed to be at a loss with an acceptable description
"Bit of a flamer?" suggested the doctor and everyone groaned at the unintended pun.
"I was thinking more obsessive and crazy, but yeah he was a bit flamboyant as well but it was endurable. Anyway we stopped dating when someone spiked my drink during a party. Long story short- um I forget his name so I'm just going to call him Red. Well as I was saying Red caught me um..." Trevor's mouth moved sound didn't seem to want to come out, hisalready rampant fidgeting and discomfort from being the main focus of too many pairs of eyes increased tenfold.
Sensing this Steve put his best happy-happy face on and turned to the unwelcome group of health specialist listening in on the story "Don't you guys have work to do?"
"No not rea- Oh OH!, Yea we can check on you later I suppose" Said the doctor
"Gossip vultures" Steve mumbled before turning back to Trevor "You were saying?"
Trevor swallowed his spit in an attempt to wet his parched throat before giving up and reaching for the Styrofoam cup of water (by now piss warm) he had forgotten to drink earlier. Lowering his voice to a whisper he said "Thank for that...well anyway let's just say it was totally without my consent that my pants were down in that very suggestible position with this one chick that had the hots for me. Tried everything to deter her short of punching her in the face or throat but the bitch was thirsty." Trevor laughed hollowly at the mediocre attempt of humor which only served to make him even more uncomfortable.
Though most of Trevor's discomfort now was from another source. A source that Steve guessed was Trevor was reliving the memory in his head judging from the faraway look in his eye. Something that Steve would have stopped if he wasn't so enthralled with Trevor's every word.
Will be good for him to finally share a trauma he was obviously suppressing very deeply anyway...At least I hope I'm not re-opening old wounds. Thought Steve as a tiny flare of guilt stabbed into his chest for the briefest moments before he managed to shake it off,
"Anyway after seeing me trying to fight and crawl away from the psycho bitch and begging Red to help me. Red finally recovered from his shock long enough to get her off me then gave that her the biggest slap she will probably ever experience before helping me back home to the apartment we shared. I didn't want to press charges since it was kinda my fault for leaving my drink unattended at a frat party nor did I want to the hospital since all that would do would kill my buzz. Since I left him with no other option;Red just tried to make me comfortable as possible and offer his shoulder up if I needed it. This is the part where it turns crazy. When I woke up the next morning from basically a coma my back and a part of my ass felt like it was on fire. My screams woke up Red and he gave me this weird smile before explaining that he had his Magmar 'mark' me with something to claim me as his. You can imagine my reaction..."
"You BETTER decked the bastard so hard that you made him swallow his own teeth and then some before calling the cops"
"You know me so well babe."
"Damn right I do. If I catch that fucker that done it I'll make him WISH I had just lite a fire under his ass."
"Can't is already dead. Remember that Moltres cult we stopped seemingly forever ago?"
"The fucker was a part of shit? DAMN I hated those guys! Gave all of us fire type trainers everywhere a bad name. I felt completely and utterly useless when we had to fight them...poor Leo felt even worse if that were possible. I think we both felt the same amount of relief when we bought that Dig TM before going in to take down their leader. Didn't feel bad whatsoever for spamming the same move over and over again. Anyway sorry for interrupting, what was the bastards role?"
"The sacrifice. Done a lot of digging after the case. Turns out the school wouldn't let him back in after his little bit of jail time. Obtained a shit paying job that funded his drug, pyro, and arsonist habits, which is why his Magmar was taken from him and eventually euthanized when it became too big of a danger to any environment. After that Red, the poor bastard claimed he had nothing to live for on a suicide note he posted on the internet. Someone from the cult emailed Red just in the nick of time and asked him if he wanted his death to mean something. Rest is history"
Judging from the look of Steve's sneer this piece of news pleased him greatly "Bastard got what he deserved...I heard of hot and heavy but that fucking shit was just ridiculous!"
"I don't know whether to be impressed or groan at that pun" Trevor's jab went unnoticed due to the fact that he became genuinely tickled to the point of laughing almost hysterically for seemingly the first time in weeks.
Once Trevor calmed down Steve cleared his throat, smile now gone and glare returning "Why didn't you mention any of this to me before?"
"Never came up. I honestly forgotten all about it despite being 'marked'. It's too the point I'm so used to the thing it's like I was born with it."
"Hun don't try to bullshit someone whose job is to wade through all the bullshit to get to a glimmer of truth, the fact we've been married for 10 years doesn't improve your odds"
"What you don't believe my story? It's true honest!"
"Oh I believe your story alright. Just not the part where you forgot about possibly the biggest trauma of your life. I also know the point of the story was to draw attention away from the fact that you still hid your numb area and other injuries from me. Your busted hun and you will face justice"
Trevor gulped and mumbled a string of curses under his breath
"Your husband's pain tolerance is remarkable, most can't handle the pain of a broken arm without screaming their head off!" The doctor remarked disbelief consuming his features as he refilled Steve's IV.
Steve shrugged as his speech became a bit slurred thanks to the drugs doing their job"Experience a greater pain then that and all other pains are like pinches. Course being awake while your being forced to endure 3rd degree burns probably has to be the worst pain out there. Isn't that right hun?"
"Why do I even try to put a wool over your eyes even if it's too protect you, I'll never know."
Steve's eyes were drooping almost closed, a dopey smile crawled on his face "I ask myself the same question. Your tells make the action almost adorable if being lied to didn't piss me off so much"
"The fact you find everything about me adorable is starting to piss me off. I'm a grown ass man not a spoilt dog who pissed on the rug"
"Don't worry I know. That's why your punishment will make the strongest man flee in terror"
Trevor gulped and shifted around uncomfortably on the bed "I'm afraid to ask"
"I would tell you but that would ruin the surprise" Steve's wink caused Trevor's heart to sink into the pit of his stomach. Seeing his husband's complexion start to pale just made Steve laugh until he was interrupted by a series of jagged and violent coughs that made the last ones seem like those a child fake when trying to get out of going to school. After the fit Steve groaned before asking for another glass of water; not noticing Trevor watching him until Trevor grabbed his hand right before he could casually trying to wipe the hand underneath the blankets. Trevor squeezed on the wrist until the balled up fist revealed that the hand was nearly coated in blood.
"Damn looks like a bone did puncture something vital. Speech probably made the injury even worse than it was when he first woken up" mumbled the doctor before he began yelling orders to the nurses that rushed over to prep Steve for the operating room.
"Scolding me while you pulling the very same shit I was doing...You hypocritical ass hat!"The words contained so much venom that he was surprised that Steve's heart didn't stop. Despite not being able to see straight from rage and panic Trevor was actually more fearful and worried then anything. Steve was once again doubling over in a coughing fit as every other breath seemed to come at a wheeze. Seeminly was able to hear Trevor though because Steve managed a another wink before Trevor's view was completly blocked by the swarm of doctors and nurses now rushing out of the room. Leaving Trevor once again alone with the injured Light Ones and a few citizens that were wrapped up in the last battle. Oh and of course there was the group of Audinos that that stayed behind to look after the rest of the patients and dish out Healing pulses whenever they could work up the energy for the move.Still they really didn't count considering Trevor couldn't have an intelligent conversation with them.
This left Trevor with nothing left to deal with the sudden returning of the thoughts and emotions that Steve managed to scare off with his presence. To make matters worse they came back wilder and brought some new friends along for the party. Trevor sighed as he looked on towards the corner where Jayne was located: silent and unmoving but her features gave away the agony that her mind was conjuring up thanks to Darkrai's spell.
How are two broken people supposed to look after a girl more broken then themselves without fucking up and finishing the job? Trevor shook his head I wish I could at least lose myself in my work so I wouldn't feel so damn useless and helpless Anger reared its head again as Trevor's moved his feet to the side of the bed. That's it. I'm finding something to do or I'm gonna go mad.
Only Trevor couldn't move."Oh no you don't. You're not going anywhere. Bed rest and that's an order. You may not give a crap about your injuries getting any worse but I do!" Trevor turned his head to glare at Mew who had just floated in the doorway. "Let me go you freakish pussy cat or I'll show you just how healthy I am"
Mew sighed as she adjusted Trevor back into the bed as one would a doll, to make things even more embarrassing she tucked him like a mother would a child at bedtime as well as anything else she could think to make him comfortable. "Tre I'm not in the mood nor do I have the time to play. I have a job for you and Steve but looks like you will be taking this on solo."
This had Trevor's attention faster than anyone could blink but he tried to remain skeptical and keep his elation from showing on his face. "Have you been reading my mind?"
"That would be rude so no. Why do you ask?"
"No reason. So what kind of job can I do in my current state?"
Mew groaned "Cresselia can you explain? I have to go ASAP"
"Sure. Tell Latios and the Plague I said hi"
Mew released a slow sigh before replying "I'll try but I don't think they will listen or care." Mew stopped to look at Cresselia quizzically "Why is that guy called the Plague anyway? Last I checked neither him nor his Dragonite use poison to fight."
Cresselia rolled her eyes and yawned as if this small conversation was boring her "Well if you believe gossip: Both are kind of sick in the head and anything that gets close to them has a tendency of dying most violently. Oddly enough I think they extend the same courteously to allies no matter what personal ties he has with them for the weakest of reasons. As a result when both of their kill count is combined trumps more than some medieval plagues. Hence the nickname."
"So the bastards send their best of the best now that Mewtwo is absent for whatever reason?"
"Looks like."Cresselia blankly replied with a shrug.
"All that trouble because one of their members switched sides on them and the small chance I might be the one hiding her given my devious mind...Lucky guess. Still their club appears to be one you can never leave apparently unlike ours. Do they not have mind wipes or are they just trying to fit the stereotypical mafia image? Which reminds me: Am I the only one that sees the previous comparison as more than accurate?"
"Hmm now that I think about it that is what their actions make them out to be...Nice catch but I really don't see how this information helps us fight them. You should probably get going before they make the roof fall on our heads,Have fun and good luck out there kitten"
"Well at least you humored me for once. Fine I'll scoot. I always try my best little Ice Princess."
With those last words Mew disappeared in the flash of her teleport leaving the human and avian alone to endure the awe filled stares of the other people in the med bay. The pair being made more extremely uncomfortable by the minute, Cresselia appeared to have decided to do something about it as her eyes flashed a bright pink for a few seconds. As a result everyone fell asleep as if all were hit on the head simultaneously with a mallet excluding Trevor and the Audinos that were still keeping busy undistracted despite the strange scene.
"That's better. Now let's get straight to business shall we? You know what's stopping me from helping Jayne right?"
"Yeah. You can't find her consciousness because the nightmares are so terrible that her brain activated a defense mechanism that hid it within her memories to preserve her sanity and state of mind. As I recall it's her subconscious fighting and hiding the girl when the darkness and nightmares gets too close. You told me this two days ago but what can I do that a legendary cannot?"
"Well it's actually her soul/core that her subconscious is protecting...wait never mind. I guess this is one of those things that can have different names but mean the same thing. So yeah you are perfectly correct, fantastic memory you have considering you only ever heard it being explained once."
Trevor shrugged "Nothing to do with memory. Just a decent listener that knows when to pay attention"
"Unlike Steve... I mean no offence to your mate by the way"
" Considering your just stating facts no offense is taken." Trevor put a hand to his mouth and whispered as if telling a secret and Steve just outside the room instead of unconscious on some operating table "Just don't tell Steve I agreed with you, I'm already in enough hot water as it is at the moment."
Trevor heard a school girl like giggle escape from Cresselia before it was snuffed out so quickly that Trevor for a second thought it was his mind playing tricks"My lips are sealed. Any who lets get back on track. Now where was I? Oh yeah. It's good that you remembered, cause it saves me the trouble of repeating it for the hundredth time. I'll skip to the point. I can't get close enough to her to pull her out of her coma because for some odd reason she runs every time I get close. I can't dispel the darkness in her current state because the darkness that's giving her the nightmares has the regeneration rate of a super powerful weed; this is due to the food she is constantly feeding the monstrosity. Even hiding as she is now" Cresselia paused as if to wait until Trevor processed the information.
After about a minute Trevor shrugged before saying "Still don't see what my part is in all this"
"I'm just getting to that part. To solve this dilemma Mew and I collaborated -somehow without killing each other-to come up with a plan. We want to send you and Steve inside her head. Your goal is to gain the girl's trust. Then reveal the truth at a time you see fit but beware: you only get one shot. The subconscious won't allow do-over's. The truth should enough to convince the girl, and most importantly of all: her subconscious to let me get close enough to them so I can pull you all out. This escape needs to be timed perfectly or she AND both you and Steve will be consumed in the nightmares. Which will leave us in a position worse than square one"
"Memory isn't perfect. Knowing that, how is it possible for the girl to believe that the world in her head isn't reality"
"That was my immediate thought as well. Imagination is filling the gaps"
"On what basis is that assumption? How do you know?"
"I may not be able to make contact with the girl's core, but what I can do is throw my mind's eye inside the barrier...Let's just say the world inside the girl's head is a strange and impossible one and leave it at that." Trevor opened his mouth to say something else about the subject but froze when he saw the impatient glare the avian was giving him
"Fine I'll leave it. Final question: If the girl is trapped in her memories; How will I be able to gain her trust when I'm a complete stranger that didn't show up till just before she gets attacked? Even then I didn't exactly make the best impression on her"
For the first time in Trevor's presence Cresselia laughed aloud: a sound akin to a bell twinkling. The sound really threw Tre off considering it was the first time he had ever heard the bird-like Pokémon show the tiniest bit of emotion besides blankness and rage. "Believe me;Mewand I are more than aware of that little issue and planned accordingly." Cresselia motioned towards the three Pokéballs on the table next to the girls bed "The answer lies in there. See after 4 days the memory the girl is traversing through is automatically set back to the beginning of the loop that Jayne is currently trapped in.So first we must wait for the next loop around and place you're consciousness inside the consciousness of the Minun of her memories since the girl's subconscious seems to block them from herself consciousness in order to keep up the illusion, it's like she is viewing the events that took place and the people she knows all over again so it will be child's play to fool her . Steve will take the place of the Plusle once he escapes his tango with death."
"Wait-wait-wait just one second there. I thought you guys fixed Steve enough so that he was well passed the critical stage of his health"
"We thought we did until it was discovered that we failed to pick up on the fact that Steve punctured a lung. Asleep he was getting enough oxygen to be considered fine but the moment he woke up his body demanded more oxygen that his lungs couldn't supply. After we fix this we have to double and triple check every organ to make sure that there are no other complications. So no Steve isn't yet in the clear"
"There is no way in hell I'm going spelunking inside a girls head without knowing Steve is fine"
"Easy enough to solve, considering there is no time limit for this task so all we have to do is wait until Steve leaves surgery he will be at a stable enough level to participate despite being in a medically induced coma. We will give him medical updates to his body through telepathy, will contact you the same way on your body status as well." Cresselia gave Trevor a sad smile "Sadly all you get to chose is whether or not you can do this as a favor for a friend and your new charge or if you want to be ordered to do it. Be careful about your decision since will affect us legendaries high opinion of you two and thus will affect your payment of what Mew and Arceus promised you if we deem it necessary. From this point on Tre, you and Steve are just men under the flag of the Light Ones and will easily be replaced should you keep pretending to be an independent power. If you don't want to be replaced you have to follow our orders. It's only as a favor to one friend or another that I can promise you I'll send you updates of Steve's condition if you so chose to go in ahead to scout to make sure the trip is safe for your weaker half or force us role a dice that is mostly in our favor."
Trevor was wrong. Mew wasn't one bit manipulative; Mew at least has their best interest in heart. This bitch only cares about herself and this stupid war. Probably doesn't give a damn about the people she orders around like a child ordering a virtual life form to their death just because they were bored and doing so amused them. No wonder Mew fondly refers to her as the Ice Princess.
"Fine I'll go in whenever the next loop occurs. ---Not right now! Can't you see that I'm busy!?" The last part was aimed at an Audino approaching with the next daily dose of drugs. Trevor felt almost bad as he watched the poor thing flee out of the room in tears thanks to the fact he kind of directed all of his rage he was currently feeling in his shout by accident. Maybe Trevor would find it before he 'left' and apologizefor being an accidental jack ass... that is he could somehow find what set the Audino apart from the rest of its nearly doppelganger-like species.
It was at this moment for the hundredth time today that Trevor wished with all of his being that he had his gun so he wouldn't feel so naked and helpless like a newborn chick...scratch that what he REALLY wished for was his clothes back since this hospital gown look-alike made him feel venerable to all hell.
Trevor hated feeling vulnerable... unless of course Steve was the only one around to see it.
"Fantastic, any questions before we begin?"
"Just a comment that really isn't a question. I'm guessing that the rodents were the partners of her parents?"
"Yes, how did-"
"Because that's the only way those three" Trevor pointed to the Pokeballs sitting on the table next to the girls bed "would be able to interact during mealtime and the odd times the nurses take them out for maintenance without ripping out each others throats."
"It's also the reason why we chose them as considering they took over as the girl's parenting figures since they basically helped raise her. Meaning the girl trust them inexplicably"
"Which also means Steve and I have competition when this nightmare shit is over with...great"
"We are not asking you to be parents of the year, just watch for their well being during the war effort."
"You don't understand. It WILL evolve into a competition due to mine and Steve's nature. The fact that the rodents have a massive head-start already irks me."
"So you don't like a certain quality about yourself, even knowing that it will make problems in the future: yet you make no attempt to change the habit into something more endurable or attempt the best course of action and be rid of it...That makes no sense."
"Humans tend not to, don't apply logic to it and it will make sense."
"But-...I'm going to chose to move on and look at where the girl is at in her loop" Trevor almost wasn't able to hold down a snicker threatening to escape, oddly proud that he was able to confuse little Mrs. Know-it-all just by applying the maximum amount of half-truth bull-shitting_.Steve catching me a while ago was a fluke. I still got it_
A question hit Trevor like a brick wall, the question hit him so hard in fact he started choking on his own spit. During his fit however he managed to choke out "Which one *cough cough* is the *cough* female?"
"The Plusle."
"Oh thank god!" The waves of relief rolling off Trevor were almost visible
Why- Oh." Cresselia giggled again "Yeah the transition from a boy to a girl body would probably be almost traumatic for people of yours and Steve's palette" Trevor wasn't listening however, too busy thanking every lucky star and god out there.
With his curiosity stated (for now) and a apparent silent waiting period in the works. Trevor eventually got bored and began to zone in and out of focus. Basically trying to figure out where in his life he had made the wrong turn into the Twilight Zone. Right in the middle of a fantasy where he asked Celebi if the rumors surrounding her ability to time travel held any truth to it or was just a rumor when Cressilia suddenly said "Well that's oddly convenient"
When the several moments of silence became too much to swallow Trevor took the bait "What is?"
"That the next loop is about to start in 40 seconds. Don't speak I'm creating a path for you right now and if you don't me to mess up I need absolute silence."
"Wait! Can I at least say good bye, receive guidelines , or at least take a moment to prepare myself somehow! Something?!.
"You got 30 seconds so no. Would of advice and last question: Do you have a object that you carry around always?
"My wallet, a... (if she makes fun of me I'll go off) locket, and my wedding ring. The answer is yes."
"20 seconds. Fantastic; Take the metal ones off and hold them tightly in your hands. They will be the items that will anchor you to reality so you won't lose your identity to the identity of the Minun that I'm placing inside your head. Long process I won't even try to explain but I'm basically rewriting you so the sub-conscious wont reject you. You won't regain yourself unless you look at those items so I wouldn't lose those items if I were you. I apologize in advance for the migraines, will get easier with each process so I recommend getting them out of the way ASAP. Don't worry, I will remove the Minun persona later. Do you understand?"
"Yes! But I changed my mind I don't want to do this! Too fucking dangerous you insane fuck!" Even now Trevor's senses were being assaulted by millions of stimuli that vanished way too quickly for him to grasp their meaning. At the same time everything that he held dear was being robbed from him to make room for information being shoved down his throat. The migraine Trevor was feeling was unbearably intense as he fought to remain conscious and the vice-like grip on the items he was told to hold onto.
"You don't have a choice. Beginning countdown until transfer 5" Unknown to Trevor a portal had opened up inside of his chest. Inside this portal was a single light about the shape of a very large beach ball; this ball appeared to be nearly done in the process of slowly splitting apart.
"4" At the very utterance of the number the single ball of light finished separating into two separate lights. One was a vibrant green at a level of brightness that would surely blind anyone looking straight at it. caused anyone looking straight at it While the other was a dull blue that was almost invisible compared to its brother connected to it by a thin yellow cord, The more time spent looking at the blue one the brighter it became. These two lights of course Trevor while the other one was the information that Cresselia had copied from the rodents that lay in the ball while it slept.
"3" Suddenly the green light lost all of its vibrancy like a sun that just died. At the same time the dull blue light exploded in a vibrancy equal to the way the green one had been earlier.
"2" Quick as a flash Cresselia reached her head in and seized the blue light
"1" At almost breakneck speed Cresselia dashed and dunked the light into the portal leading into a bright pink tunnel connecting to a large sphere shaped barrier with an extremely bright and vibrant light at its center. Surrounding this sphere was a huge cloud of hazy fog like darkness. Then watched as the light neared closer the gap that led into a bottomless abyss. Just as the light was upon this gap a pink-ish glow surrounded Cresselia as she finished the bridge just as it appeared 2 late.
"0 and with that my part of the mission is 25% done. Course there is maintenance I have to do but the hard part is nearly over. Now I just have to get rid of this tunnel-" In about a blink the tunnel that Cresselia had painstakingly made vanished instantly. "-and fill that little hole that I made earlier-" right before Cresselia could however a big glob of darkness detached itself from the rest and was already in the hole before she could close it in time."
"CrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcraaaapArceus-put-me-out-of-my-misery-now-please...FUCK! I should have closed the hold BEFORE dispersing the tunnel! Damn it I'm such a idiot! Can't even follow after because the girl won't let me get close to the freaking barrier, even flying at mach speed I can't catch it.Meaning once again the subconscious has to dispel the illusion in order to have the power to deal with the intruder. But after each fight there is a resting period where Jayne's subconscious has no choice but to dispel everything to rest and recuperate. Leaving Jayne's core -and now Trevor- exposed to endure the nightmares. The purpose of the illusion is to heal the wounds the nightmares inflict on Jayne's psyche during this period. Trevor has no defense like that because I just threw him in there as naked and defenseless as a newborn! Literally nothing else can go wrong" As if the sphere heard her it vanished: literally there 1 second and gone the next.
"I had to open my big ass beck...well there went my several days of 'missions well done without incident record' Mother is gonna have a cow...maybe ten when she hears of this one. Oh and I guess Trevor is in trouble now so there is that." Cresselia then felt the weak tickle of a human throwing words of thought at her. Annoyed at the rudeness Cresselia opened a link to tell them off but before she could say a word she heard a familiar voice say:
"Nice to know that you care. NOT!"
Trevor? Trevor is that you? How on earth are you projecting your thoughts this far and why on Earth are you not screaming with mind numbing terror?
"We're both extremely fucking lucky I figured out how use the lifeline you gave me at the last possible moment. I'm in my body but I can't move. Do something!"
Is the Minun body still where you landed?
Yes. Why?
Then no. If we do anything else we will risk severing the connection with your avatar that will be lost the second I cut the cord keeping from controlling your own body. I can't have that Trevor. I don't want the days I spent developing it to go to waste. Still I never thought I would ever experience a relief of this magnitude from just hearing a human's voice. Thanks for the save Trevor I'm grateful.
"Fuck you! Your just seconds away from the headache I'm about to cause you from constant screaming! True to his word" Trevor started screaming just before Cresselia cut the connection
"Hopefully Steve makes it out soon, I have other things to do" Again as if some celestial being heard her: the medics came back rolling Steve in on a stretcher at that precise moment. For the moment he was still unconscious. "It's as if the threads of fate are just screwing with me...No matter." Cresselia turned around and placed Trevor's not-so-empty-as first appears next to Steve's unconscious form. In essence it was like placing a fully working computer with power supply next to one that was plugged in. An odd comparison but accurate; at least until Cresselia had her way anyway.
After warning the medics not to worry about Trevor's almost non-existent pulse and extremely slow breathing rate, Cresselia was curious on how much of the day she had left. With one glance at the clock the Ice Princess was able to tell that it was just about noon. If I start now I should be finished just before 6 pm. Cresselia took a moment to yawn and pop her neck before turning around to and making her way to her next target. Calculations of various of scenarios that both included her and didn't include her, mathematical equations that would probably help pin-point the girl's possible location, and finally the list of punishments that will most likely befall her if Trevor didn't save her from narrowly avoiding Mother's wrath that would have done more than scorch a few tail feathers.
Maybe it was time to heed her Mother's advice of taking thing a bit more slow and steady to avoid future errors. With so much things rushing through the Lunar Pokémon's mind; she suddenly realized she needed to fulfill a craving that almost always constantly nagged at her before she lost her marbles and accidently smited the next poor soul that spoke to her.
"I need a strong coffee, stat."
"Yes m'am. " The Audino froze misstep and turned back around as a sudden thought hit her "We also have a wide range assortment of donuts in the lounge."
"Am rather hungry, get me a plate full of anything that isn't cream filled"
"Yes m'am, could at least say please"
"Please."
"Y-y-y -yes m-m m'am! sor- er...right away!"
I_t's on these moments where I wish I was Darkrai...Doesn't have to say things like 'please' 'thank you' 'would you kindly' with every request. Bet the fucker goes months without getting any lip from those under his command, Must be easy to run things with fear and a sadistic core._
