Passion in Question

Story by Jazcal on SoFurry

, , ,

I had a crap day and writing poetry actually helped the healing process. The only part that I thought about was the rhyming though, so good luck getting something out of it.

When the apple of the eye

goes off to die,

when all you thought,

is brought to naught,

it is the feeling of pride

that actually commits suicide.

But what was I to do

now that the Truth

has exposed itself

how can I trust myself

as the betrayal now runs through my youth

without anyone to turn to?

So new to passion

that when it was questioned

I knew no compassion

even when it was mentioned.

I stood by idly

as they ravaged freely

that which I held dearly

was nearly

dead to me.

I made it my mission

to spread my vision

so they can make a better decision

and I can make the transition

to avoid transgression

within the lesson.

I refuse to negotiate

for I had to wait

for the ticking hands of fate

to consummate

the deed that has brought hate.

May it be told

that all that we hold

dear to our hearts

can break it into parts

if we do not steer

those who create fear

towards the light

the world will never be bright.

We hiked for a few days through the forest, slowly but we were making progress. I was able to follow the sound of the call in the direction of the mountains in the distance. The scent got stronger and I grew more curious of its wild flavor. I assumed...
