A Terrible Start ~ Part 2
#2 of The Victim
The Victim- Chapter Two
Kyle groaned a little as he slowly opened his eyes. His body ached, not from any kind of pain, but it felt as if he hadn't moved in years. He looked around using a paw to rub his eyes. 'Where am I? It's so bright! Where's Bane? What's that beeping?' These thoughts raced through his mind as the room slowly came into view. He was lying in amongst white sheets on a bed, in an annoyingly clean hospital room. He looked to his side; a monitor screen was next to him showing his pulse and heart rate. He looked down to his wrist to see a needle sticking out of it. He slowly followed it up it up to an IV drip hanging above his head. He gasped as he looked around the room some more. There was a mirror opposite him with cards taped to the sides. He stared at his reflection, he didn't look to different from when he had gotten out of the shower at Bane's house. 'BANE' He thought. "Where was he?!'
He opened his mouth to scream for him, but he couldn't talk. He voice was a bare whisper and he only rasped out a faint noise. He looked desperately around; he noticed the "CALL NURSE" button and reached over and pressed it. Half a second later, he was impatient, so he pressed it again. About ten seconds later, after he had pressed it again and again, a nurse burst through the door.
"Oh my good!" the panther took one look at Kyle and ran back out of the room.
Kyle just stared at where she had been and lost his train of thought. 'Wha-what the hell was that? Why did she leave? Doesn't she know I need help' he thought to himself.
Twenty seconds later she came back in holding a large wolf by his arm. He was wearing a white lab coat and had a light brown, almost red fur. He saw Kyle and walked slowly over to him. The nurse was of to the side nervously watching. "Hello, I'm Dr. Strauss; I've been your doctor for a little while." He pressed a button on the monitor and wrote something on his notepad.
Kyle opened his mouth again, but again no sound came out. The doctor noticed him and pulled something off the shelf behind Kyle. He walked over to the counter and got a glass to pour some of the liquid into it. He walked back over and handed Kyle the drink. "Take this; it will help with your voice."
Kyle took the drink and drank it slowly. It tasted awful and didn't work right away like he had hoped. He waited for his throat felt better before he could talk, while the doctor took more notes. "Ok, what did you mean "for a little while"? How long have I been here?"
"Calm down. You were wounded pretty badly and you've been out for...well about a month." The doctor said forcing Kyle to lie back down.
Kyle sat back up quickly. "What about Bane? What happened to him? Is he ok? Is he still..." he stopped talking as a figure caught his eye just over the doctor's shoulder. "...alive..." he finished as the figure silently walked towards him.
"Hey Kyle" Bane said smoothly, he was trying so hard to hold back his tears. Kyle had finally awoken. Kyle was still his beautiful red-orange color, with his pure white, almost silver fur under his neck, and jet black paws and tail tip matching his ears.
"Hey..." Kyle said in a faint whisper. He looked Bane over. He was wearing a loose fitting black shirt that blended in almost perfectly with his fur, and blue cargo jeans that had to be held up by a belt. Kyle's eyes filled with tears as he was over come with happiness that Bane was still alive.
Bane bent down and wrapped his arms around Kyle and hugged him softly tears now flowing freely from his eyes. "I'm so glad you're ok. I thought you'd never wake up."
Kyle was crying heavily and hugging back tightly. "Me? What about you? When I saw you last, you were lying in a pool of blood clutching your chest." He cried harder as that painful image was brought back to him.
"I'm fine. I woke about twelve hours later. But you, you didn't wake up. After the first day I became a little worried. Then when you didn't wake up after the first week I was terrified. I started to wonder..." he topped and wiped the tears out of his eyes. "I started to wonder if you might not make it." He cried heavier and continued. "Then I was waiting in the lobby, because I couldn't bear to see you like this, and the nurse came and told me you had finally woken up. I was so happy I wanted to rush in and see you, but she said to wait about half an hour to give you time to take in what had happened."
Kyle pulled Bane back down and hugged him sobbing quietly on his shoulder. "I'm so glad you are ok." Kyle hugged tighter and kissed Bane's cheek.
Bane slowly stood back up and stroked his cheek. "So how are you feeling?" Behind Bane the doctor and nurse had left and were off to process some data and get some forms.
"Kyle cleared throat. "I'm felling fine. What about you?"
Bane smiled warmly. "I'm feeling fine, now." He kissed Kyle on the forehead and ruffled his head fur.
The doctor walked back in with some forms. "Ok, Bane, I need you to sign this. It says that you will take full responsibility of Kyle for the next month. And then Kyle, I need you to sign it saying you agree to this and you are ready to leave."
"You mean I get to leave?!" Kyle said hopefully.
"Yes you get to leave. You've been here long enough and you have a life to live." The wolf smiled and handed the papers to Bane for him to sign.
Bane signed the papers and handed them to Kyle. He signed them and the doctor began to slowly undo the wires and tubes he had been attached to for the last month. "Well you are free to go. Try not to come back for a while ok?" The doctor chuckled and left the two alone.
Bane helped Kyle to his feet and then gave him a proper hug. "Let's go home."
Kyle pulled away a little to look up into his eyes. "Home?"
"You live with me now. Remember?" Bane smiled and rubbed his back.
Kyle smiled and hugged Bane tightly. "I'm so glad that I'm going to be with you."
"Come on. Tomorrow I'll take you to get some clothes." He put an arm around Kyle and led him out of the room and down to his car which was parked a ways from the entrance.
'I'm so glad that I will live with him. Maybe he loves me. I hope he does. I want so bad to be "with" him. Is that too much to hope? Will he expect me to find a new home after I'm out of his care?' Kyle thought as they headed back to their new home.
'He's so cute and perfect. Plus he's finally awake. And he is glad to live with me. Maybe he will begin to love me. I want to be "with" him. It's not enough just being friends with him. I want a relationship. Although I should give him space, he probably doesn't want to be with me anyway. Will he want to stay with me once he's out of my responsibility?' Those were Bane's thoughts as he drove to his apartment, their apartment where they would spend at least the next month together.
