#8 of Under Cloak of Darkness

"Hey, Dameon! Where are you going?" Holi asked angrily.

"I'm going out to buy stuff for Christmas...why?" he asked innocently.

"Well, you ARE wanted in three-quarters of the world," she said smartly. Dameon sighed.

"So? It's Christmas! All the cops in Mallakoza are out beating their wives and eating everything they can see," Dameon protested.

"But what if I need help with the baby? What if something happens?" She asked fearfully.

"Then come with me! We can buy stuff together! And I'll make sure that nothing happens to you," he said happily.

"Well, I suppose it would be good for me to leave this place," Holi thought. "Alright, let's go."

"Yes!" Dameon whispered happily.

"But wait, what if we get mugged?" her eyes widened and she looked at Dameon. He looked at her for about three seconds.

"You're kidding, right?" he said. She shrugged.

"I just pictured the worst," she explained.

He nodded and walked over to the platform and spread his wings. She jumped into his arms and he pushed off the platform, catapulting them into the air where Dameon's wings took over the rest of the work.

Eveser knocked on the door of Cyllea's room. She was answered with a feminine call.

"Just a second," she opened the door after about a minute.

"Hey!" he said happily.

"Hey! Come in," she stepped to the side and let him walk through the paper door into her room. He looked around.

"I like what you've done with the place," he joked.

"He-he, thanks," she giggled. "So, how was training?"

"Ugh..." Eve moaned.

"Not fun?" Cyllea asked.

"That Lindix is a killer! He attacked me after of training again!" he recalled angrily.

"Again? That happened before?" she asked.

"Oh yea, you weren't there, but I'm pretty sure that that Lindix wants to kill me!" he said.

"I can imagine," Cyllea agreed.

"Yea," Eve jumped to her bed and laid down on the edge of her bed. She did the same and lay next to him.

"I remember once when I was a little dragling, I got attacked by a Lindix," she said.

"What'd you do to get away?" Eve asked.

"I just ran, it was more annoying than anything because it was a baby and couldn't outrun me, it was just idiotically persistent," She remembered. "But its mom and dad were close behind it and would catch me if I didn't run fast enough."

"Wow that sounds scary. So I'm guessing you got away alright?" he asked.

"Yea, I got away just fine. I just ran home and my mom scared them all off," Cyllea retold the story. Eve listened patiently, smiling and nodding at some parts.

She didn't know why, but she felt strangely attracted to him. She looked into his eyes and he into hers.

"So, what did you invite me into your room for?" he asked. She smiled and stood up. She walked right in front of him and stood on her hind legs, raising her front paws and pushing him back onto the bed. He was surprised, but smiled when she lay down next to him.

"Do you really wanna do what I want to do? I need your permission before we can get started," Cyllea whispered into his ear.

"Oh yes, Cyllea, I've wanted this ever since I first met you," he closed his eyes and heard her feminine giggle. He felt the bed rise as she stood up.

"Huh? I didn't think you'd be so enthusiastic about Christmas shopping, but let's go!" she said happily. His eyes were still closed.

"Ok, let'swait, what are we doing?" Eveser sat up, very confused.

"We're going Christmas shopping, why? What did you think we would" she realized and looked straight into his eyes.

"Umm, it's not what you think," Eve tried to explain. Cyllea smiled and put her claw on his lips.

"Don't be ashamed, I've felt the same way. I've wanted it, too. And besides, we can do that after we go shopping...if you're a good boy," she teased.

"Fair enough," he shrugged.

Later at Mallakoza City Mall...

"What are we planning on getting?" Holi asked Dameon, who was disguised as a regular guy in black jeans and an Iron Maiden t-shirt.

"Eh, I really don't know. When I normally go shopping, I just find things that look cool and take them," he said.

"Well, what looks cool here?" she asked, pointing at the sunglass rack around which Dameon was slinking. He took a pair of reflective aviators from the rack and put them on.

"How do I look? Pretty good, eh?" he persuaded.

"You don't even have eyes, why would you want glasses?" Holi asked.

"Because, dear Holi, when I change my appearance, my eyes stay the same color. If I get these, people won't be able to see them and I'll be fool-proof!" he explained.

"Oh, well I guess that makes sense," she agreed.

"Yes, it does. So what do you wanna get?" Dameon asked.

"I don't know, something that still makes me look sexy even when I'm pregnant," she walked out of the shop with Dameon close behind her.

"Like that's going to be difficult *tongue flick*, But if you're going into the maternity store, then I'll be waiting outside. I hate that place," he grabbed his shoulders and rubbed them. "It burns, Holi, it burns."

"You're such a pussy," she said and walked away, leaving him standing in front of the store where they just exited.

"Ouch," he muttered.

"I'll meet you by the fountain in the center lobby!" he called. She waved over her shoulder and kept walking. As she walked, Dameon couldn't help but stare a little bit at her ass as she walked away from him and towards the nearest maternity store. He smiled and walked towards a Hot Topic.

"So what do you think of these little clich tree decorations?" Cyllea asked as she and Eve searched through the small holiday shop that was made up to look like a Christmas shop.

"I have tons of those," Eve scoffed. She frowned.

"At the fortress?" she asked, standing up and putting her paws on her hips. She fell back down when he responded.

"Well, no, I guess you're right," he said, shaking his head. He put the small, multi-colored orbs into the bag they were using. Cyllea took the bag in her jaws and walked over to the counter. She took a small Visa card from under her wing and put it on the counter along with the bags of ornaments and other items they had bought.

"Will that be all ma'am?" the clerk asked Cyllea from behind the counter.

"Yes, thank you," she said.

"That'll be $39.56, please," the clerk held the card back to Cyllea. She took it and grabbed the bag with her jaw after she had put her card back under her wing. Haze was looking at the Hot Topic store just across from them.

"Hey Cyl, I'm gonna over to the Hot Topic next door, kay?" Eveser asked.

"Okay, I'll see you in a minute," she replied, unaware of the dangerous looking female lizard walking up behind her.

"Hello Cyllea," she said, putting her hands on her hips and tapping the dragonesses shoulder. She turned around to meet her sister's stare.

"Holi? Holi!" Cyllea shouted and stood up, hugging her sister. "Merry Christmas!"

"Get off me!" Holi pushed Cyllea off of her. Cyllea met her anger with sadness.

"Why are you mad at me? I thought I'd never see you again!" she fell back down and exclaimed innocently.

"Mom always liked you best and never paid any attention to me, even when I needed it!" Holi explained angrily.

"I...didn't know...I'm sorry, if I had known..." She said with puppy eyes.

"Hey lets not be angry on Christmas! We shouldn't fight, so...truce for now?" she held out her paw to her older sister. Holi looked at it for a few seconds, then took it and made peace with her long-lost sibling...

***********************************************************************

Eveser walked into the store and looked around. He saw all sorts of clothes, accessories, and other things. He walked towards the CD section and looked around. He saw a lot of bands he didn't know about and a couple that he hated. There was a man next to him who was also looking at CD's. He wore black jeans and a shirt with a tank on it and a battalion of skeleton troops around it. It said "Iron Maiden" on the top.

"Hey, sorry to bother you, but I'm new to this kind of music. What do you think is good?" he asked. The man turned to him and looked at him with light blue eyes.

"Well, I recommend Ozzie" he stopped. His mouth opened and he stared at Eve for a few seconds. His features hardened and he looked very angry.

"What the hell are you doing here?" he asked angrily, eyes turning red.

"What's wrong with you?" Eve moved away from the man who he thought was insane. He picked out two CDs whilst Dameon looked at him and then down at his clothes.

"Oh, yea," he muttered. "Forgot about that."

He clenched his fists and closed his eyes as his skin became black and pulled away from his bone, revealing an iron skeleton in a hooded robe.

"Recognize me now?" Swade asked Eve, who was already backing up towards the door.

"Swade! What the hell are you doing here?" he shouted.

"I asked you first!" Dameon hissed. "But I'm Christmas shopping...your turn..."

"Bullshit! You're probably trying to kill me when my back is turned!" Eve accused. Dameon sighed.

"You'll never learn will you?" he asked hopelessly. "If I wanted to kill you, I'd kill you face-to-face, you and the metal bitch!"

Eveser started to charge Dameon. Dameon did the same and started running at the dragon. All the other customers in the store were looking at these two creatures fight. They started to run for the door and most of them got out, but some actually stayed to watch from the counter.

Dameon swung and caught Eve in the chin. He flew into the air and hit the ceiling. Crashing down to the floor, Dameon grabbed him at the back of the neck. He quickly whipped around his tail and tripped Dameon to the ground.

Dameon jumped to his feet again, only to be met with Eve's tail. Eve had jumped into the air and did a front flip, bringing his tail to follow behind him. He brought it down straight on Dameon's head, smashing him into the ground and breaking the solid concrete floor. Dameon looked up and shot his longue tongue around Eve's throat, tightening as he stood up. When Dameon was at full height, he drew back and prepared to punch him with the spike-covered gauntlet he wore on his right hand.

"Game over dragon," Dameon snickered through an open mouth. Eve looked around fast, he saw a clothes rack that had fallen over and wrapped his tail around it. Hoisting up to Dameon's level, he swung and cracked him right in the side of the head, making a terrible metallic smack. Dameon fell flat on his back and looked dazed. He stood up and the two faced each other, ready to fight. They started moving towards each other, but were stopped when two female voices called out to them.

"Dameon!" Holi screamed from the entrance.

"Eveser!" Cyllea shouted from next to Holi.

Eve and Dameon looked at each other and then at their girlfriends. They girls walked into the store and stared at them both.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" they asked in chorus.

"Trying to fight my mortal enemy!" they responded, also in chorus.

"Hey, I thought you guys hated each other!" Dameon said, surprised.

"Well, she hates me, but it's Christmas! We can't fight on Christmas! Right?" Cyllea asked in her usual, child-like innocence. Holi nodded beside her.

Eve looked at Dameon, and Dameon back at Eve.

"They're right, y'know," Dameon sighed. "We shouldn't really be fighting now."

"Yea, I suppose," Eve agreed. He held out his paw out to Dameon. Dameon knelt down and grasped the paw in his skeletal hand. "Truce?"

"But only for the next two days, clear?" Swade made sure he was understood.

"Thats as long as I'm willing to wait to beat your face in," Haze replied.

"Good," Dameon stood up and walked over to Holi, took her by the hand and walked out of the damaged store. He picked her up and jumped upwards, smashing through the glass roof and flying at breakneck speed off into the horizon.

"Well, that was productive," Cyllea said.

"So what do you wanna do now?" Eve asked as he picked up the two CDs and paid for them; Daft Punk and Slipknot. Cyllea smiled.

"I believe we mentioned something that we were gonna do when we were done shopping?" she giggled. Eve looked at her.

"Let's go then," he smiled at her.

Under Cloak of Darkness: Chapter 9

Eveser opened the door to Cyllea's room. She walked in first and sat her two large bags of Christmas ornaments on the floor as Eve closed the door quietly. The ornaments clinked as the bags slumped against the wall. "So, you still never told...

Eveser jumped upwards, aided by his wings, and shot a huge ball of flames at the approaching Behaku warrior. It vanished and appeared behind him, prepared to swing its blade at his head! He ducked and spun around it, bringing his arm to bear with...

"This is odd..." Dameon said as he looked around the room. It was a solid stone room with no windows or doors. There were no lamps, but the room was completely lit, making no shadows at all. The only noise was the sound of screaming, human and furry...
