#28 of For Love of Love

"FUCK YOU!" Jes' foot swung around and met his chest violently, forcing all the air out of his chest in one loud cough, followed by sharp pain radiating from his chest. "I'm tired of your perfect little outlook on life, you high little shit!" she yelled, kicking him again and knocking him down onto his back and pushing her foot down on his neck.

"J-Jes-ACK!" Lex struggled, getting weaker and weaker as the oxygen stopped going to his brain. His eyes flicked wildly about, looking for help from anyone. "O-Oliver..." he squirmed, grabbing Jes' ankle and trying to push it up so he could get a little air to his brain. The BlRemon answered by bending down and punching him in the face.

He immediately winced ant turned his head to the side. Jes' foot lifted momentarily then slammed down on his neck, nearly breaking it. With what little breath he had left in his lungs, he spewed blood from his nose.

"Yeah, you like the taste of that, don't you...that's what real life tastes like," Jes growled at him, lifting her foot up just enough that he could keep himself alive, but everything was still getting hazier and hazier around him. "Too bad you won't be tasting it for long." Jes grinned at him coldly as she evolved herself into her Infinity form.

Her foot transformed into a cruel talon, which wrapped itself tightly around his neck and squeezed for a few more seconds, then kicked him again roughly in the side, carrying with it a lot more pain than it had before.

* * * * *

Angie watched helplessly as Jes beat up Lex. She wasn't strong like he was...there wasn't anything that she could do.

"Mother..." Ethan pawed at her chest, trying to get her attention. She had forgotten that he was there for a few seconds; even though it was far too late for anything like that, she shielded his eyes with her hands so he didn't have to see any more of what was happening to his father. "Why is Jes doing that to him?"

"She can't help it," Angie answered sadly.

Jes picked Lex up and pushed him against a piece of rubble, pinning him there with the Chaos-controlling abilities that she had used to try to save him earlier when they were in the Digital World.

"I hadn't thought about it before, but you're quite a data store, aren't you, Lex?"

"Y-yes..." he whimpered, seemingly trying to placate her by agreeing with her and telling her what she wanted to her.

"JES!" Oliver yelled sternly, suddenly moving from where he was and putting himself in between his two fighting Digimon. "Stop this now! This isn't who you are!"

Growling loudly in protest, Jes came within inches of thrusting her hand through Oliver's chest, but stopped just short of touching him. "Get the hell out of my way, Oliver..."

"No," Oliver batted Jes' hand and the sharp claws that came with it off to the side. Angie blushed a little; he really was brave...whether it because he didn't have any idea that Jes could easily kill him, or because he was really committed to his Digimon, he was really brave...

"Get out of my way!" she pushed him forcefully off to the side, making him collide with Jamie and drop all of the cards that he had in his hand. Angie didn't know anything about what Oliver could do to help, but there had to be something he could do, some card that he could use...

Putting Ethan in Jeth's arms, who looked at her in belated surprise like she didn't know what was really going on, Angie got down on her knees and helped Oliver, who had started going through the cards, looking at each one to see if it would help.

"Oliver, will this one help?" she picked up a blank red one that seemed different than the others, offering it to him while Jes toyed with Lex, talking to him about how she could kill him while causing the least amount of damage to his data.

"I...I don't know, Angie...Jamie, what is this?"

"USE IT!" he yelled loudly; he obviously understood that whole thing a lot more than either she or Oliver did. Oliver listened to Jamie's advice and swiped the card through the thing that tied Oliver to his three Digimon.

"Maybe if I -- GAAH, WHAT THE FUCK!?" Jes roared, a very scary sound, as the little computer thing that Oliver had put the card through glowed with a bright light and started spewing arcs of electricity all over the place. The light it produced got brighter and brighter until Angie couldn't see anything.

The light got blinding enough that she closed her eyes tightly against it and tried to look away from it, and it seemed like just before it was going to do some damage because of its brightness, it started dimming away.

Angie watched in amazement as the light dimmed away and she saw the Digimon that had been left behind by whatever had happened to Jes and Oliver. IN between where the two of them had been standing was a loose ... thing ... that looked it was made entirely of energy and roughly in the shape of a very masculine Jes.

"Kill the disobedient one!" The large dragon Digimon angrily yelled at what Angie just realized was the biomerge evolution of Jes and her tamer; she immediately smiled and cooed a little, wondering if they were able to sense each others' feeling like she had been able to when she was together with Lex that way.

"No," Jes and Oliver's voice said at the same time. "Your mind control ability only works against viruses. I am no longer a virus."

* * * * * * * *

J-Jes...? Oliver's voice echoed within the mind of the new being that Oliver and Jes had created by merging together as Tamer and Digimon.

Yes, Oliver, Jes' voice answered him in the confines of their mind. I'm here; I'm sorry I tried to hurt you.

No, it's alright, it's not your fault. What happened?

We biomerged.

I...I can feel you, Jes. Your memories, what you feel...everything...

Yeah, great. We can talk about that later. The part of the new ascendant Digimon Acidemon that had come from Jes made their form blush a little as it realized that Oliver could dig through all of her memories and find out about any of the things that she had done and experienced.

"Then die!" the big, black dragon Digimon's paw swung down and smacked hard against them. Aciedemon was tossed weightlessly through their air, crashing into a building and making an extremely large crater in the concrete at the base.

Rubble fell from around Aciedemon until it was completely covered in debris.

Everything went black.

* * * * * * * *

Kaz couldn't stand by and watch that happen to his friends any longer. Pulling on the rings he wore that gave him his connection to his weapons, he unwound a collection of wire from them with all the speed and precision he could manage and snapped it like a whip.

Using every bit of speed he had, he jumped up into the air as the Comndramon's paw was at the end of it's swipe and slashed his wires across the muscles of the large Digimon, trying to cut deep into his muscle and disable him.

"Kaz, no!" Jeth squeaked. "It's way too powerful for you! Kaaaaaz!!!" Jeth screamed at him; he tried to put her out of his mind and focus on doing as much damage to the thing before it came anywhere near harming his Tamer or his mate.

Kaz ducked a tail swipe, then gracefully spun around and flicked his wrist, wrapping all of his wires around the tail and pulling the wires tight, trying to cut it into sections; scales buckled, snapped, and disintegrated into data after falling off, but he couldn't do any lasting damage to the creature's hide no matter how many strikes he could get in.

"_ Neurowhip _!" the wire connected to his right forefinger surged with electricity; jumping above another attack by the Comndramon's tail, he slashed wires against scales on his back above his spine over and over until he exposed the hide underneath.

Winding his wires together into one long, sharp, flexible weapon, he drove it as far as he could down into the spinal cord of the dragon Digimon, hoping that he could do some damage before he got accustomed to the way that Kaz was fighting and was able to use some of whatever special attacks that he had.

"_ Wind spike _!" From the name of the attack, Kaz a pretty good idea of what the attack was going to do; he didn't have enough time to get out of the way of the attack, but he had enough time to turn off to the side and make the attack strike him in the shoulder, literally ripping through the skin and the bone, throwing him off the back of the Digimon and onto the ground extremely hard.

* * * * * * * * *

Lex's mind was jarred free from the influence of the Comndramon as soon as Kaz attacked him. Part of him didn't want to get up from where he was on the ground. If his life was just going to keep on going the way it had in the Digital World, if he was going to have to deal with the same things that he had to deal with when he lived there, then what was the point of being here at all?

Why did it matter, if he was going to be hunted here too?

"Lex..." His mate put her hand on his shoulder and helped him up; for a split second, Lex felt like he was being lifted up out of the world and into heaven, but Angie could only lift him so far, and once he was standing back up, he realized that he was still on the Earth and that he was going to have to deal with the problems that were threatening him and his mate. "Are you alright?"

"Yes," he answered, flicking his over to Jeth's arms to make sure that his son was alright.

"Do you need me to help you, Lex?" Angie held his hand.

"Yes," Lex said. The two of them closed their eyes and let the same light surround and envelop them that had enveloped Jes and Oliver a few minutes ago, and that had surrounded them when they were at the Citadel in the Digital World when they needed to escape.

Again joined together, the Deimon that Lex and Angie produced when they merged together stood nearly half as tall as many of the buildings that were in the city, putting it nearly eye-to-eye with the Comndramon.

"You're going to regret coming here," Deimon said, tapping its staff against the ground threateningly.

The part of Deimon that came from Angie loved being one with Lex like this. When he said that he couldn't use words to describe how much in love he was with her, he wasn't exaggerating. When the two of them were like this, they could feel feel each other's memories, emotions, feelings, thoughts...everything. Both parts of the whole loved the sensation, but Angie was almost addicted to it; she made sure that Lex knew just how much she was in love with him, too.

"I regret nothing," the Comndramon answered, sneering at them. "I'm just here for your data. Thanks for putting it all together for me."

Deimon didn't have any response for that. It was far too noble to attack first, so it just stood stationary in place, waiting for the Comndramon to use one of its own attack;s by the reckoning of the biomerge Digimon, that time was approximately three thousand, seven hundred and twenty two milliseconds.

"_ Thunder dome _!" A black storm cloud enveloped Deimon, shielding it from the view of its friends; the beginning sounds of titanic thunder surrounded it, and lightening crackled around it, striking every part of its body over and over again. Pain seared through every part of its body, its flesh burned, and its gray robe blackened whenever the blue arcs of lightning came in contact with it.

Deimon fought the unconsciousness that tried to make its way into its mind after the attack. It couldn't fail ... it just couldn't, there was too much depending on it being able to fight back and make sure that its friends didn't suffer any more than they already had.

L-Lex, the part of the biomerged Digimon that had come from Angie said into the echo-filled space shared between the two of them. Do something!

I'm trying, his voice returned, echoing through the empty space the same way that the voice of her mate had. The thought they were were never going to be able to be together, never going to be able to live the family life that they both wanted to live, energized them back into action.

"Judgment _ Cannon _!" A burst of white, gray and black light shot out of the ends of Deimon's staff, both beams of light striking in the center of the Comndramon's chest, exploding into a bright, fiery light that burned everything it contacted with a near-solar heat.

The tar on the street liquefied, then cooled into a crater as the force of the impact sent energy out in all directions. All the dust and debris that had been laying around from the buildings destroyed during Comndramon's rampage through the city were again lifted into the air and thrown about.

There wasn't any Digimon that Lex or Angie had ever encountered in their life that could have survived that onslaught of an attack, but somehow, the Comndramon was still standing.

"_ Excommunication Judgment _!" Deimon didn't waste any time in attacking again; a red light rimmed Comndramon as it delved deep into his data, cutting off all of the references to its attacks so it couldn't use any of its special attacks anymore.

* * * * * * *

The Comndramon growled as it felt its structure being ripped apart; pain coursed through its muscles and its head as it was cut off from its powers. Its head was still reeling with the annoying knowledge in the back of its mind that the thing it was supposed to kill was still among the living. it had never known anything to have hit it with that level of power before; it was starting to feel something that it had never felt before. It was starting to know fear.

No longer playing around with its prey, he lunged forward and hit the tall humanoid Digimon in the side with its head to get its arms out of the way, then clamped its jaw as tight as tight as it could manage, sinking its teeth into the Digimon's stomach and back.

It literally shrieked in agony with the voices of the two Digimon that it was made of; Comndramon savored the sound, trying to enjoy every nuance, every little emotion that the Deimon gave away when he changed the orientation of his teeth ever so slightly.

Comndramon was only a few seconds away from being free of that annoyance, and then he could go on with his life. Swinging and twisting his neck to inflict as much damage as possible, it took immense pleasure in the blood that it coughed up that landed in between his eyes and trickled down his muzzle and the screams as it got weaker and weaker.

* * * * * * *

Jes, what's happening...? Oliver's voice echoed. Having never biomerged before, Aciedemon was quite confused about exactly what was happening. Oliver's questions went unanswered, though; the Digimon was confused, in pain, and would have been near death if it wasn't slowly regenerating and filling in the damaged parts of its form with new parts.

Oliver... Jes' voice answered belatedly, sounding more than a little confused about what was going on. This is ... I've never been a Vaccine before. This feels weird.

"_ Pure _." Aciedemon burst through the rubble with the only offensive attack it had. Lex, Angie, and everyone else needed their help, and it wasn't going to be able to help unless it could see what was going on around them.

"_ Euphoria _." Releasing the energy that it had been using to heal itself into a field that surrounded the entire area around them, it healed the damage and eased the fatigue that everyone was suffering from.

Lex and Angie phased out of existence from the jaws of the Comndramon, then reappeared behind it.

"Judgment _ Cannon _!" the Digimon that was made up by Lex and Angie yelled, floating up into the air and delivering a second attack to the Comndramon's back, which exploded and blew off little bits of its data in the form of scales.

As the attack subsided, Comndramon's tail whipped through the air and batted the Biomerge of Lex and Angie, knocking it into one of the few buildings that were standing. Aciedemon was amazed that it was able to survive the impact as the building exploded, crumbled and fell apart into a thousand pieces.

Aciedemon could feel Aciedemon's life force flicker and fluctuate; it wasn't merely knowledge of it happening, either; it was a gross, sickening feeling that would have made the Digimon throw up if it the anatomy to support it.

* * * * * * * *

Ian didn't want Jeth to get involved with anything...he knew that she wasn't very useful in a fight, so for the most part they just tried to stay away from trouble, but that just didn't seem like it was an option anymore...

"Ian, we have to do something, we can't just stand here like this..."

"What do you want me to do?"

"Biomerge with me..."

Ian's eyes immediately widened. The creepiness of the thought of being in the same body as Jeth at the same time notwithstanding, that was something that the two of them had never done before. Hell, he didn't even know how to do it unless he happened to have one of those shiny red cards like the one Oliver had found earlier.

"I don't know how, Jeth..."

"With this, silly..." Jeth's hand dipped into his pocket--something he hadn't been suspecting in the least, and made him twitch more than he thought was possible for him to do so--and fished out the exact item that he was thinking about. "Just scan it ..."

Ian immediately nodded and put the card through. There was another flash of blinding white light; he could feel himself gaining new memories, new emotions, new perspective, new senses...he could feel the life force of everything around him, even the insects that were flying around and the plants that were growing in the windows of people's apartments.

Was this what it was like for Jeth whenever she went? No wonder she always looked so out of it; he was surprised that she could keep sane with all this information coming into her all the time. His and Jeth's consciousness slowly merged into one; every movement of some part of their body was a shared effort between their two separate wills.

The first thing it did was to look down at itself and find out more about what it was and what sort of things it could do other than be bombarded with the vital statistics of all living things in the immediate area.

The first thing it noticed was that it was female. Part of it found that completely normal, but another part was deeply disturbed by no longer being a member of the male persuasion, and was greatly confused about how this worked. It had a very effeminate body, silver robes, pure white skin, and a single pair of wings with feathers that were the exact same shade as the skin that graced the rest of its body.

Heehee, you're a girl_, Ian...

Shut up! I didn't make that decision...I don't even know what's going on!_

_Oh, come on, I know you want to touch yourself--

We don't have time for that! We need to help the others!_

Ulitmamon, as it now knew itself, was eager to help Kaz and Megan; part of it was kind of hot for Megan, and the other was head over heals infatuated with Kaz; if there was anything it could do about it, they weren't going to be in any danger. Going through its abilities for the first time in its existence, Ultimamon found something that it thought might help.

"_ Vine Javelins! _" Its feminine, yet somewhat androgynous voice yelled, summoning into being hundreds of sharpened vines that wound themselves into tight-knit weapons that hurled themselves at the Comndramon.

Some of them made their way through its scaly armor, and others bounced off. It was no matter; it had at least succeeded at drawing the Comndramon's attention away from Kaz and Megan, and it was much more capable of handling itself in dangerous situations than either one of them.

* * * * * * *

Lex blinked as he realized that his perceptions had changed; he wasn't joined with Angie anymore. Immediately thinking the worst, he closed his mind and reached out for the consciousness of his mate. It was there...it was just faint, incredibly faint.

"Angie," he whimpered, pressing his hand against the chunks of concrete that the two of them were buried under and dissolving the material out of existence looking for his mate. "Say something, Angie..."

"Unnhh..." A few feet underneath him, he could hear Angie's barely-coherent moans. His eyes widened, and he tried not to think about what life would be like without the woman that he had fallen in love with and started a family with...

"_ Glyph of Transmutation: Water! _" He wasn't wasting any time; a bright blue rune etched itself into every single piece of rubble that was around him; each piece spent a few seconds shivering as the elements within it changed their identity, then made a large splash as the whole thing turned to water around them, soaking both of them but leaving them both alive, uncrushed and able to breathe the air around them.

"Angie!" Lex immediately grabbed her when he saw her; she was wounded, and badly... a few smaller, sharper pieces of concrete had embedded themselves into her body when they had disconnected from each other and were now part of the pool around them, mixing with blood from both of them.

"Nnnn...."

"Lex, I'll take care of her," Oliver and Jes' voice, as Aciedemon, said behind him. Lex nodded eagerly, holding onto Angie's hand. Looking toward Jeth and Ian's biomerge, he realized that he had left Ethan with Jeth. His eyes widened again; completely forgetting everything else in the world, he searched with every sense and every resource that he had available to him to find Ethan, hoping with every bit of his being that nothing bad had happened to him; he'd never be able to forgive himself if anything had.

"F-Father, help!" Lex immediately recognized Ethan's squeaky, high pitched voice. His heart sank when he realized that he was literally in Comndramon's paws, being used as leverage to get Jeth and Ian to stop flying around him and attacking him before shifting elsewhere in space to avoid the counterattack.

Lex immediately growled and bared his teeth, which he had never before done in his life. Letting go of Angie's hand, he stood up and let raw energy flow around him, rippling his robes menacingly. Without even realizing it, he evolved to his next form, losing his physical body and becoming pure energy. Every ounce of hate he had for the Comndramon for coming here and choosing him to terrorize, for having the audacity to use his son as a hostage, for doing the damage that he had done to his mate...all of it pooled within him and made him want to release it in a single, relentless attack.

"Put my son down," he said as calmly as possible. The Jeth/Ian biomerge landed next to him; he ignored her for the moment. He was going to handle this by himself now.

"Why should I do that? He seems so ... tasty." Slowly, mockingly, Comndramon brought Ethan towards his mouth, who was squirming and wiggling the whole time, obviously trying to get away.

"Because you're not here for him. You're here for me."

"True. But I want an appetizer."

"PUT HIM DOWN!" A burst of force punctuated his exclamation, not by any conscious desire, but by the sheer hatred that he was feeling toward the creature for what he had done.

"No!" Comndramon laughed. "He's mine now."

"How can you be so absolutely evil?" Lex asked coldly "None of us have done anything to you, but you want to eat my son..."

"You annoy me," Comndramon answered, moving Ethan menacingly closer to his mouth. "And so do your humans. When I'm done with you, I think I'm going to gnaw on that female over there.", he said, gesturing at Megan. Lex didn't know what to do; there wasn't anything that he could do before Comndramon could hurt Ethan...the only one who could do anything was Kaz, and he was--

"_ Neurowhip _!" There was a loud crack from somewhere near the vicinity of the back of the Comndramon's head; what had happened didn't mentally register until Ethan was suddenly behind him on the ground in the fetal position and Kaz was standing on top of Comndramon's back with his hand outstretched and all of his weapons wrapped around the large dragon's neck, who was shivering from the electric shocks that were being driven into his spine.

"No one threatens my tamer," Kaz said, using his other hand to keep pressure on the wound. Lex would have smiled at Ethan to let him know that everything was going to be okay if he still had the facial features required, but he didn't, so instead he just floated up to the height of Comndramon's head and looked him in the eye.

"Heh..." he said. "You can't even begin to hurt me," it said.

"Maybe not before," Lex answered, his hood falling back in the wind and revealing the nothingness that was underneath it in this form. He could feel his evolution shift into something else as the glyphs on his robe animated themselves and started moving around. It wasn't a new level for him, but it was ... something different. Something that he could use to protect his family and his friends. "But I can now."

For Love of Love 28: Coming Danger

The Comndramon looked around its new surroundings. Having just woken up on the outside of a big city, it didn't anything about itself; it didn't know how long it had lived, it didn't know any of the things it had did, it didn't know if it had ever...
