Love Ensemble, Part 6
Hiya, friends. Here's some more Love Ensemble for you. I actually planned for this chapter to be a bit longer, but I think I made a good ending. I also think I did a bit better at describing the scene and emotions this time. Tell me what you think. And as always, enjoy!
Warning: This story may contain romantic and/or sexual interaction between two male, underage furs. If this bothers you, please feel free to leave the page now. Otherwise, keep reading.
Blake sat in his bed, wrapped in his covers. He had been shaking and crying for the last two hours and had no idea what to do. He felt scared and so unsure. All he could hear was the voice of Oliver and the illusion of laughs of other high schoolers deep in his mind.
"This was a mistake," the fox said quietly to himself. "I should've known better. I should've..." He couldn't even finish his sentence before his sobs got in the way. His phone buzzed on the desk, displaying 'Jordan Rull' in big white letters. He sniffed once and reached over, opening the text to read.
"Are you alright? Please talk to me"
Blake couldn't move his paw to tap out the letters to reply. He could only clench his eyes to try and fight back even more tears, putting the phone down on the bedspread.
"I know you're reading this, Blake. Please tell me what happened. I want to help :("
And it was true. iPhone's had this feature that displays "Delivered" in small gray text next to your message if the receiver has read it. It was handy most of the time, but it sure made it impossible to try and hide from or ignore someone. Blake shut the phone off and put it back on the desk. He slowly got out of the bed and went for the laptop. Maybe a few games would make him feel better.
Blake started the Mumble program and joined his server. Josh and Caitlin were already there.
"Hey, Blake," Josh said casually.
"Blake!" Caitlin shouted. "What on earth happened? Jordan won't stop texting me, asking where you are and if you're okay."
Blake sighed before pressing his push-to-talk button. "I really don't want to talk about it..."
"Did something go wrong?" the lioness asked.
"You could say that," Blake replied.
"Dude, spill. You were so excited yesterday." Josh said.
Blake simply sighed again. There was no way out of this one. "The date went fine. But at rehearsal, a guy in my section kept trying to tell me not to go out with Jordan cuz he's straight..."
"Wow. What a dick!" Caitlin shouted. "But that can't be right. He wouldn't have asked you out if he was straight."
"Unless he was just leading me on to break my heart later..."
"Whoa, whoa," Josh interrupted. "I'm pretty sure Jordan wouldn't do that."
"How would you know, Josh?" Blake said, starting to get a little frustrated. "And I bet he's gonna tell everyone at school that I'm gay."
"Since when did you care what people thought about you?" Caitlin said. "What happened to the fox that kept calling Jordan the perfect man?"
Blake growled. "Can we please just stop talking about it?!"
"Alright, fine. But you'll have to face him tomorrow, you know. It's Friday and we have an away football game."
Fuck!
Blake woke up a little later than usual the next morning. He slowly got out of the bed and heaved, not looking forward to the day that was about to happen. He quickly took a shower, got on clothes, and headed out the door.
Waiting outside, in the darkness of the morning, was Caitlin. The lioness waved.
"Hey!"
"Hey. Where's Josh?"
"He's scouting ahead," she chirped. "Since the date obviously didn't go well, even though you texted me that you were having a fantastic time, we came up with this plan for you to avoid Jordan at all costs. At least until next week." She smiled big, looking very confident in her plan.
Blake raised a brow at her as they walked. "How on earth do you plan on doing that?"
"Don't ask for details. I've got everything under control."
"But what about my Algebra class? Or band? Or lunch?" Blake asked, not understanding.
Caitlin crossed her arms and brought a finger to her mouth. "Shh. Let me take care of it. You enjoy your day."
Blake just gave up. He never understood his friend, but for some reason he trusted her. She seemed to always have a knack for predicting the future and coming up with very elaborate ideas that somehow ended up working even though they didn't make any sense and she's never explain how it all worked.
The cat took her phone out of her pocket and read a message from Josh.
"He's here. He's in the band room."
The cat typed out back, "Good. Initiate step two."
The fox peeked over and read the message. Obviously the orca had the inside knowledge of how this little scheme was going to work.
The two friends talked for a while before they reached the school. The sun was starting to come up and Blake shielded his eyes; he could already feel that the day was gonna go horribly.
Blake walked to his first period. It was meant to be like any other day, but for some reason this one was different. The fox couldn't put his paw on it as he kept looking around between the other students, the lockers, the classroom doors; it all looked the same.
Suddenly the fox's ear perked.
"I think that's him," came a quiet voice from Blake's right. It was a female leopard that was talking to a guy that was with her. "That's the one that Greg saw at the movies with Jordan."
"Blake Woden? I'm not surprised," the male said quietly. He mumbled something after that Blake couldn't hear having walked a little too far away.
The fox held his notebook a little closer to himself, watching as he finally noticed what was different in the hallway; everyone was looking at him as he walked. And not smiles and waves. Some were mean, disapproving faces. Others just snickered as he walked by. It had been less than 24 hours and everyone and their grandmother knew about him and Jordan. Blake wanted to get out of there as quick as possible, headed straight for his math class. The fox was halfway through the door before he felt a wing on his shoulder and a pull. Blake immediately jumped and yelped in fear as the bully pulled him out of the room and against the hallway wall, holding him by the shoulders. He closed his eyes and braced himself, but in his daze he didn't notice that his would-be assaulter was actually his friend Kirstie, a parakeet from his Chemistry class.
"Is it true?!" she half-shouted in a voice flavored with anger and a hint of jealousy.
"W-What?" Blake asked, still dazed.
"You and Jordan Rull are dating?!"
"No. Well I, uh..." He wasn't sure how to answer the question.
"OMG, I'm so incredibly jealous!" she yelled, stamping the ground a few times.
"How do you even know?"
"Pfft. How could you -not- know? It's all over Furbook."
Blake's ears dropped. "-What- is all over Furbook?"
The avian pulled out her phone and showed Blake the screen. Right there on the screen was a picture of himself and Jordan holding paws at the theater and
nuzzling. The fox just blushed.
"You are so lucky, you damn fox!" she said, half teasing. "I'm so proud of you for making it public too!"
Blake's ears perked up. "Wait, you're not freaked out about it?"
"Of course I'm freaking! You're dating one of the biggest, hottest jocks in the whole school!" she squealed.
"No, I mean like, you don't think it's gross? Or unnatural or something?"
"Blake, it's the year 2008. Things have changed. I mean of course there's gonna be some homophobic asshats, but you know the school has a super high discrimination policy."
Blake thought about this for a moment. He remembered about the guy on the football team that, not only got suspended, but also got kicked from the team because he keptbullying the Reptilian Club members. The jock was gone for over two weeks and then came back only to do it all again. By the end of the first half of the year, the bully had missed so many lectures in his classes that he had to go to night school for the next three months. Rumor has it that even with all the school time he still failed all his classes and got held back a grade. But Blake wasn't sure if the policy included more than just racism.
"Blake? Helloooo? Snap out of it," Kirstie said.
Blake blinked. "Huh?"
"Class is starting, honey. Your man is in there." She snickered.
Blake wanted to scowl and reply, but he held it in. He took a deep breath and walked into the classroom, immediately getting met by at least ten pairs of eyes and smiles. Jordan, however, didn't look at him at all. The fox took his seat and waited for the class to start, pulling out his notebook.
Jordan looked at Blake in the corner of his eyes and sighed inwardly. He was sad and confused.
Not even a good morning...
The wolf sat there and kept looking at Blake through the first 10 minutes of class, trying desperately to get his attention without causing a commotion in the classroom. His heart was hurting. He was so sure that he had gotten close to the fox he wanted so badly, and now he's afraid that it'll never happen.
In the middle of a lesson, the teacher's phone rang. The teacher went over to answer and hung up in a quick ten seconds.
"Jordan," he said. "Your councilor at the Administration Office wants to see you. Make sure you write down the homework assignment before you leave."
The wolf stood and gathered his things, unsure of why he needed to be seen. But anything was better than the awkwardness in the room between the two should-be lovers. He walked out without a word, giving one last glance at Blake. For the first time today, the fox looked back.
Algebra and Chemistry had passed and now it was time for Band. Blake walked through the hallway nervously, awaiting the tons of comments from other band kids about him and Jordan; surely they had seen the picture on Furbook. What Blake was most worried about was where Jordan was, or rather where Jordan was not. He hadn't been seen since he was called to the office earlier. Blake wondered if he was sent home or moved to different classes.
"Feeling better?" came the voice of Josh, who was suddenly next to Blake like some sort of ninja, but Blake was probably too lost in his thoughts to notice that the orca had shown up.
"Not really..." Blake said quietly. "There's gonna be tons of rumors spread throughout the band. I'm almost considering skipping class."
"You can't skip class, Blake. Mr. B won't let you march at the game tonight if you don't. Besides, you love Band," Josh said back.
"But Jordan will be there..."
"Okay," Josh said, reaching to push Blake against the wall. "What happened? You told Caitlin you were having a lot of fun last night and now you don't even want to see Jordan. Something isn't right and, as your friend, you should tell me what's wrong."
Blake growled a little, but the orca was right. The fox looked down and mumbled. "Someone told me that Jordan was straight at rehearsal last night. At first, I thought nothing of it. But for some reason, his voice got into my head during our walk in the park and I got scared and ran..."
Josh let the fox go. "So basically, you're mind was playing tricks on you."
"Shut up, no one asked you."
"Don't get mad at me, dude. You're the one who's thoughts let get in the way of the man of your dreams."
Blake sighed. "Yeah, I know. But now Jordan probably won't even talk to me. He probably hates me and thinks I'm stupid."
"You never know," Josh replied with a shrug.
The two of them walked into the band room. Blake immediately found Jordan in the crowd, being surrounded by multiple females that were asking so many questions. Blake felt his face get red, but for once not in embarrassment, but instead anger. He clenched his fists and walked forward to the group.
"Hey!" he yelled. The group got quiet and all of them looked at him. This was probably the loudest they ever heard him talk. "He's mine. Leave him alone."
Some of the girls scoffed while others couldn't help but giggle as the boy protected his man.
"Why do you even want him, Jordan? He's so quiet and scrawny. He doesn't even have a pussy," said one of the girls. She played the French horn, Blake thought.
Did she really just say that?
"Yeah, well..." Blake said, nervously. "If I had one, I bet it would be way better than yours."
Did I really just say that?
The girl just looked annoyed at him, but then turned her head and walked away. "Whatever." Soon, it was just Jordan and Blake in that spot.
"Thanks for helping," Jordan said with a small smile.
Blake wanted to reply, but couldn't. He just walked into the locker room and got his sax.
When the class was over, Blake stayed a little longer in hopes that Jordan would've gotten lost in the crowd. He slowly gathered up his things and his lunch before walking out to the hallway. Just his luck, Jordan was walking from the bathroom and right towards him. It was just like yesterday; no one else around, so there was no escape from the confrontation.
"Blake," Jordan called. "Can we just talk? Please?"
"I-I..." Blake said, blushing and trying not to make eye contact. "I'm sorry..."
"Sorry? For what?"
"You must think I'm so stupid. And I bet you don't like me anymore. Not after I ditched you..."
"But I do like you, Blake. I was worried," the wolf responded.
"Don't lie and make me feel better. I understand if you never want to talk to me again..." he said before starting to walk away, but he was interrupted as he felt the wolf's paws grab his shoulders and push him had against the wall - the third time this has happened today - and yipped on surprise. Before he could even say anything, he felt the wolf's lips press hard against his own. This passionate kiss lasted for several minutes before Jordan slowly backed away to smile at the red fox he'd fallen in love with.
"I do like you, Blake."
Good ending? I think it was. Thanks for reading!
