#91 of Poetry

This is a poem for anyone who is either in or has been in a long distance relationship. Hope you enjoy.

My heart belongs many miles away, But my body is stuck to this floor.

I cannot grow wings; Not of glorious white feathers Or cloaked black leather. My back remains smooth skin.

Separated are we not by chains, Not walls nor bridges, Only by distance And by time.

Though many tell us to forfeit And go our separate ways, We will hold fast And remain anchored to one another

The distance makes it hard; Time harder still But a promise is a promise, Even a promise of love.

So through time I'll carry my heart, Until I am able to conquer the distance.
