Chapter 6: Escape

*Alex!* I looked up to find Kiki staring at me. *what?* I asked, as always I was completely clueless. *Why do I even bother talking to you when you don't listen to me?* she said jokingly. *Because you like me* I replied smartly. Eric sighed loudly, it gave me the impression that he was rolling his eyes. I ignored him as he passed me, I assumed he was headed for the courtyard. Eric was not to pleased about the fact that I was "dating" Kiki, in fact it became more obvious by the hour. *Alex... You should go talk to him.* Kiki said, interrupting my train of thought. *Why!? So he can get mad at me!?* I replied a little too sharply. *No, he's just lonely, and jealous.* She explained *Why would he be jealous?* I asked. Kiki sighed slightly. *Just think about it! What would you feel if your only friend suddenly stopped spending time with you.* she said softly, and I realized she was right. I looked down as I remembered how I felt after Marcy had gone missing... long before she donned the name "Kiki". I walked to the doggie door, and found Eric sitting next to the fountain. I sat down and looked him, His green-yellow eyes were focused on the single stream of water that flowed from the mouth of a stone lion, but his nose twitched sporadically, registering my scent. *What do you want?* Eric said after he determined that I was not going to leave. *Nothing much. I just wanted to hang out.* I replied. *What did Kiki dump you?!* he said in a tone that was much more mature, making him sound as if he were fifteen instead of ten. *No... I just thought you were lonely.* I said calmly. *Well I'm not!* He said in an annoyed tone. *Listen Eric... I'm trying to be a friend* I explained to him. *Well obviously not hard enough!* he said angrily. He stood and walked to the other side of the courtyard, as I walked back into the cage. I slumped down on the futon and closed my eyes, hoping for the conflict to be resolved. *From how your acting, I assume that it didn't go as planed.* Said Kiki. I looked at her before saying. *Yeah! The little twerp blew me out of the water! Why is he so angry all of a sudden!* *It's because ever since his transformation he's been bottling up his anger... and now it's finally being released.* She replied. *How do you always seem to know what we're feeling?* I asked suddenly. *It's because I'm a werewolf silly... Werewolves are more in-tuned to peoples feelings. Its kinda like a sixth sense...* she explained. *So why can't I sense what your feeling...?* *You can, your probably not recognizing that some of the emotions your feeling are mine... try going into an emotionless state of being* I closed my eyes and followed her instructions, and yet I still felt a strong unnatural feeling of happiness that I hadn't felt before, as I felt it I instantly recognized it as Kiki. I quickly opened my my eyes and looked at her, she seemed to exude that happiness. I was excited about this new development and found that I could still sense Kiki, along with a faint trace of anger that was radiating from outside. I stood up and followed the anger to its source. It was Eric as I had expected. As I approached I heard him begin to growl, great! anyways I continued towards him and the growling became louder with every step I took. Finally when I was within a few feet of him, He turned quickly. *Leave me alone!* He snapped at me. *No.* I said simply. His growling increased. *I told you to go away!* he growled. I stood my ground, and with a snarl he launched himself at me. My instincts told to move, to attack, but I ignored them. I was determined to edge Eric out of his anger, even if it meant that I would be hurt in the process. Eric's teeth cut into me, his claws raking my sides and let my blood flow, yet I did nothing to prevent it, and as I let Eric shred me I felt his anger start to disappear, replaced by fear and guilt. As his rage went away he slowed and stopped before backing away from me. I could feel the wounds start to heal and I stood up weakly in the pool of blood that had fallen from me. I walked slowly towards Eric, my body painfully sore and my breathing heavy. *hehehe, You sure pack a punch... for a little twerp* I said before darkness consumed me. >)}+{(< The next thing I knew I was laying on something soft and someone was whispering. *--can't believe I did this!* said the voice. *It's okay, he's fine...I hope, and besides knowing him he probably meant for you to do this.* replied another, in a comforting tone. *but w-what if I can't control this... this rage!* asked the first voice. *Don't worry, we'll help you.* answered the second. My eyes opened slowly to reveal Kiki and Eric as the voices. Both of them were facing away from me. Eric's light grey fur was slightly ruffled and dull where as Kiki's white fur was sleek and seemed to give off a faint luminescence. They quickly grew silent as I intentionally yelped. They turned around and looked at me with slight amazement. *Alex!* said Kiki exuberantly. I smiled... or at least I tried too. My eyes slowly moved to Eric and as they did His gaze fell to the floor and his tail moved into a position in between his legs. *What's wrong with you?* I asked him. Eric began to whimper. *Listen Eric I'm not mad at you, neither is Kiki, so don't worry* *Y-your not?! B-but I...I...* *I said don't worry about it...at least your not angry anymore* I told him.

The hours continued to pass as slowly as ever. I found that all I wanted to do was sleep and eat, It was then that I realized that I needed to escape! *we need to get out of here!* I announced to my two friends. *Its not going to work, we would need the keys* Said Kiki. *We can get them!* I replied. *We would need some sort of excuse to get out!* countered Kiki. *We have one...A walk!* *Even if we were to escape from Joey, we would have to walk back to town...and Joey could catch up to us in his car!* said Eric in a sad tone *I know!* I said cheerfully *Then how the hell do you expect to get out of here* Kiki asked *We get Joey to help us!* I said smirking as best as I could. Kiki gasped *But Bob will Kill you Alex* she said. *...If he finds out... But he won't. He'll think we're going for a walk...* *That might work!* Eric piped up *It will...I just know it* *I still don't think this is a very good idea... but I'll help cause I'll worry if I don't.* *Thanks Kiki!* as I said this I licked her muzzle...

Joey walked in in the afternoon for our walk. But today was the day he wouldn't forget anytime soon... He grabbed the leashes as always not suspecting a single thing. Just as planned *Hey Joey!* I called out to him. As expected he looked around desperately for my voice, a shocked expression on his face. After a few minutes of looking he muttered to himself "I must of been imagining things" *Your not!* I told him, again he looked for the voice. *Joey It's me, in the cage!* he looked at me with a bewildered stare. "Y-you can talk!?" he cried out. *Yep!* He looked at me with awe "This is amazing! You can talk!" his voice getting higher. *Joey!* I said "Yes Sparky!" at this I growled *MY NAME IS ALEX* I yelled at him. "Alex? That's a weird name for a dog..." *I'm not a dog... I'm a werewolf.* "A-a werewolf?!" *yes He's a werewolf... we all are* said Kiki. "B-but my dad said you were all huskies or something like that." Joey said *well he lied* Eric said angrily "W-why would he do that!" *I don't know* I replied *but we need you to help us escape!* "O-okay, but what do I do? *You take us to Samantha's house* "Why Samantha?" *She's my sister...* I told him "wait! your the brother she told me about. The one who acts like a dog..."

We got ready to leave hurriedly . When we exited the room that had held me for so long, I noticed that the door to Bobs office was open... *you guys go ahead I'll catch up!* I told them *But Alex!* Kiki began *don't worry I'll be quick* She frowned slightly... but went anyways. I quietly slipped into the office. It was fairly nice with a large table in the center, a mini-fridge and some chairs, but what really caught my attention was on the wall. Covering almost all the walls were pictures of Joey. I looked at the nearest one and was shocked to see Joey hugging a familiar white wolf. But then the door closed! I turned to find Bob standing there, not beet red as I would have expected, but... sad. I watched as he walked towards me and collapsed onto his knees. His hand came to rest on my head, were it stayed. "I know that you guys are leaving, but before you go I... I wanted to tell you why I did this to you" he told me. His hand gently scratched my ears... "The reason I made Kiki bite you was for Joey. I... I wanted him to be happy... But I was stupid to do this... and even if you won't forgive me... I wanted you to know I'm sorry" *Bob?* I said "Go... Your free, but please... promise me you will make Joey happy..." with that he stood and opened the door. As I left I could of sworn I saw a tear on Bobs wrinkled cheek. I ran to Joeys car and jumped in, curling up next to Kiki. I didn't care if I was ever human again... all that mattered was that I was going home.

\*Well Eric, welcome to the group.\* That quote resonated within my mind as I watched the young wolf sleep. I thought of how I had been unable to prevent his transformation. \*you okay\* Kiki said surprising me like she always did. \*Yeah, I was...

I was in a meadow, I don't know how or why, but I was in a meadow. I looked around and saw that it was your normal every day meadow, but before I could take it all in, a scent hit my powerful nose, a smell that made me hungry. As instincts took over I...
