Charon city, 2524
"Who shall I kill today?" I asked myself as I sat in the darkness of my cell with the only incoming light coming from the hall on the other side of my cell door. I always did this when it came my time to fight in the Death Games, I would sit and wait for the anthro wolf guards to come get me, as I would think about how these games came to be.
The Games were created by the overlords of this city for those who didn't want to slaves or servants to others, so they created the Games to'Make them earn their freedom', they said, Bullshit, now a long time ago someone did win the games and did win their freedom, but the creators really created these hellish games for their own amusement as we tore each other apart. They sat on their fat asses as we spilt the others blood all over the arena grounds as we fought mercilessly for we knew that our opponent wouldn't show us any as he or she pushed themselves to try to remove our head from our shoulders.
Flash Back:
I was first brought into the games at the age of 14 and had my first battle at that age too, I'll never forget the smell of blood as long as I live : My opponent at the time was a tall anthro black spotted leopard with scars almost over every inch of his body. He looked at me with eyes that held no emotion, except for a small hint of remorse as, from what I thought, was the bell to begin ringed and he charged towards me with his sharp claws unsheathed and ready to spill my blood all over the ground.
He swung with his right paw, making me lean back as I tried to dodge the swipe, but he was too fast as his claws drew long claw marks over my chest, that started to bleed heavily. The crowd roared to life with bloodlust as I clutched my chest as I tried to stop the bleeding while still trying to dodge the leopard, who was still swinging at me with a snarl on his face.
Luckily one of the overlords, who were sitting in the royalty box, dropped a red metal box into the arena, giving me a spark of hope that I would make it out of this alive. In a daring move I drew my foot back before slamming it into the leopard's nose and to add more fuel to the fire I heard the disturbing sound of bone snapping, but didn't think more of it as I hauled ass towards the box as the leopard howled in agony.
'Legs don't fail me now' I thought to myself as I was now only a few feet away from the box, when I heard the leopard roar with rage as he gave chase after me. I ran like my life depended on it, which it did, as I finally reached the box, unlocking it before opening it to reveal two nine inch black bladed combat knives! I couldn't believe my luck, but again I couldn't dwell on it as the leopard came into my view as he stopped a few feet away from me with hatred in his eyes.
"Let's do this," I said as I held the knives in my hands, the blades facing towards the ground, as I faced my feline opponent.
"As you wish," He snarled before lunging towards me with his claws ready to taste my blood once again, but this time I shall be the one to draw blood from the other.
I sidestepped him as he swung in a downward arc with his right paw, before swinging with the knife in my left hand at his face which made a large gash under his left eye.
He roared in pain before looking at me with crazed eyes as the wound that I inflicted bled heavily. The crowd roared again as the blood of us both stained the ground and filled the air with its scent.
Strangely I found the smell of blood comforting as the leopard and I charged each other; his claws splayed and ready for the taste of my flesh and my knives for the taste of his blood, as we glared at each other with bloodlust in our eyes.
We met at the center of the arena as the crowd grew silent as they waited to see who would stand victorious at the end of this battle.
When we were within feet of each other he swung with his left claws at my face, but I dodged low as I heard the 'swoosh' of the claws going past my head before lunging upward at him while dragging the knife on his stomach, slicing into it as I continued to drag the blade upwards before jerking it and making it slice a long gash into his already scared chest.
He cried out, but recovered enough to retaliate with a heavy kick to my abdomen, knocking the wind out of me from the force behind it, before throwing a powerful right hook to my temple, sending my stumbling back a few feet in a gasping daze.
I stood holding my stomach, with knife still in hand, as I tried to regain my focus for I was starting to see double, but luckily was able to snap out of it as the wounded feline came at me.
"Hold still, I promise you won't feel a thing," He said as he swung his fist at me.
"No thanks...I plan to fight to the very end," I said ducking the punch and swiftly swinging with the knife,my knuckles were the first the first to connect before the knife nicked his face causing a small scratch under his right eye.
"One shall stand," He said angrily, swinging again I ducked.
"And one shall fall," I replied swinging my knives in all directions.
We continued like this for several minutes, swinging and dodging, making light cuts and bruises on the other. The crowd cheered with every cut that was inflicted, every bruise that was formed, and every drop of blood that hit the ground.
"Let's end this," I said with no emotion in my voice once so ever as I dodged another swipe by him.
"Yes let's," He agreed as he flexed his claws as he ducked my attack.
He swiped his right claws at me with all his weight behind the swing.
He soon realized his mistake, but by then it was too late.
Sidestepping the swing, I then bought my knee into his stomach, knocking the wind out of him and making him groan in pain as I had also hit the gash that was on his stomach.
He bent over holding his stomach while groaning in pain as he involuntarily touched his wound, and didn't notice me swing with my other nice until he felt it slice into his neck and through his jugular vein.
Blood spurted out of the wound timed with his heart beat as he futilely tried to stop the blood flow before falling to his knees with the light in his eyes extinguishing.
"Farewell," I said coldly as I watched the feline take his final breath before collapsing dead at my feet.
The crowd went wild as I stood victorious over my opponent, before going silent as one of the overlords stood to their feet.
"Congrats human over your victory against Acaeus," The overlord said in a male voice that held no emotion.
"Thank you your majesty," I replied in the same tone while looking at the morph.
"Welcomed, as for now wait in your quarters until the next round of games begins," He commanded.
I nodded in confirmation as I turned to leave the arena so the next battlers could appear.
Taking one last look at the body of the leopard, Acaeus, who was now being removed, I walked into the halls that led to the arena, leaving the sounds of the crowd behind me as the darkness of the halls obscured me from view.
Present time:
So here I am, sitting in my cell with my knives on my sides as I heard the footsteps of the guards stop at my door, then I heard the familiar click of the lock being turned and the door being open as one the guards spoke to me.
"Come it's time," He said without any bad meaning as I nodded before getting up and wordlessly walking out of the cell and down the hall with the guards right behind me.
A dark smile came to my face as the lights of the arena came into view and the roar of the crowd could be heard getting louder as I got closer to the end of the hall that would let me into the arena.
"Let the game begin," I said darkly with a evil smile on my face.
And seeing the guard, now next to me, quiver with fear only made it grow wider.
Now only a few footsteps away from the arena entrance I couldn't help but get excited as the lights and sounds started to cloud my ears.
"And the Death Games begin again," I said as the lights of the arena swallowed me and the crowd's cheers were so loud that they vibrated the very ground._ _
_-"The smell of blood, I've grown accustomed to it, I've begun to like the smell of it when I inflict damage upon my opponent, I prey for those that must face me in this arena."- _
