There is nothing sexy about this. All I can say is that a guy gets bitten by a dragon and full well deserves it. But if you really want to read it, be my guest. Also, there isn't really much 'romance' in this part, but that's what the story is about so get used to it.

There spoke a legend once in the small town of Rosepeace, that a noble warrior once lived there many years ago. This brave soul had discovered not only the town, but also a secret once thought as nothing more then a myth many years before: a single dragon, female to be exact. While most warriors of that time would name it a demon and slay it, this man did not for he saw a beauty unrivalled. With a strong heart, the man befriended it.

Years pass and their friendship grew and grew until the day that they admitted their love for one another. Many years pass yet again and the man grew to be in his middle age. Having been with the dragon for many years, the warrior grew to a point where he wished he could have a heir. Knowing his dragon lover could never do this, he left her for another human maiden that could.

Infuriated by his betrayal, the dragon hunted him down In the village he had founded. Here, she slew him and his human maiden in their home and took his land for herself. She left the city alone but she cursed the land that her former lover lived on. Any human that chose to live in the house he once lived in, they would have to answer to their own fears.

It was on that day, the dragon swore that no human shall ever harm her again.

Chapter one: The legend exists.

Ryder gazed happily at his new home, thankful that his father had given it to him so willingly. But it also made him nervous, for his father was too willingly. In fact, when he spoke to the older man, it was as though a great fear had befallen him. But how could that be? His family was known as one of the bravest ever to have been born. Hell, even his brother skydived off the worlds tallest building and laughed when he was sent to the hospital because he decided it was a smart idea to release his parachute at a much later time then nesscasary.

With a shrug, Ryder stood and admired the old building. It stood about three stories tall and was made entirely of wood. Made many years ago, he was surprised that the wood did not rot let alone that the modern world had electricity running through it now. He walked up the front porch and threw the first door open and unlocked the door behind it before walking in.

The inside was just as nice, the wooden walls and flooring holding a traditional feeling while still having the more modern day things like lamps and ceiling lights. Standing in front of the door, Ryder could see a hallway that lead to the kitchen at the far end of it. To his left, a open door that lead to a study of shorts whie the opposite had a stairway and a door that lead to a living room with a lush couch and flooring.

It was here that he made his way, sitting on the couch as he lifted the remote for the tv up then stopped suddenly. Frowning, he studied his hand for no longer did he have that of a 24 year old man, but that of a old man. Looking up, he was just as startled to see the face of an old man staring back at him from the tv, his blue eyes seeming to have filled with wisdom despite being youthful only moments before.

"What the fuck?" He asked out loud, standing up. Even his voice sounded old. Walking over to a nearby fireplace, Ryder picked up a picture of a lone old man. It was the same old man that stared back at him from the tv. Then it hit him hard.

He had lived his entire life. How, Ryder did not know but he did know this: he had lived alone, with no wife.

The once young old man fell to his knees and his hands went to his face, straining to keep the tears welling in his eyes at bay. He failed however, and the tears streamed through Ryder's fingers, coursing down his face and he slowly wiped them away only to find more there? His eyes went wide once more when he saw that his skin was no longer wrinkled and he rubbed his face, smiling when he found no wrinkles there either.

He frowned however, knowing that it was not normal. "What the hell is going on here?" He muttered when he suddenly had a tingling sensation on the back of his neck. One that someone would get when being watched. His head darted off to the side, his gaze going out through a pair of double sliding glass doors where he saw a shadow dart away from sight.

"Who's there?!" Ryder yelled, throwing the door wide open. The only thing to answer his cry was the silence of the forest and the gentle breeze of the wind. "Grah god damn... Who the hell was that?

The dragon was surprised to see that the human saw through her deception. But the fact that he feared of being alone was an interesting fact in itself. She Could not help but wonder at that fear alone as her black scales brushed against the tree leaves around her.

With a snort, the dragon stopped running. She craned her long neck to look down at the small home far below the hill she had climbed just now. The human sat there still, looking about for anything suspicious. This only made her smile as she scratched the back of her head like a large dog knowing full well he won't find anything.

Turning around, the dragon fled deeper into the forest that she called home, stopping to get a drink at a nearby stream before heading to a small cave that overlooked the valley that the house was in.

Laying down, the dragon looked down once more at the house as the human made his way back inside, his hand on the back of his head as he sighed. She had to admit, he was a handsome one but she knew that they were either utter assholes that betrayed anything with a pussy or complete dumbasses that didn't know how to change a lightbulb.

"Well then..." The dragon giggled, smiling as she watched him go into the kitchen with her hawk-like eyes. "...lets see how long it takes to scare you away, young man."

"Who was that?" Ryder mumbled, sitting down with a plate full of steaming food. He wasn't too pleased that there was someone on his property, but he wasn't going to call the cops over it. Yet what really got him was how he suddenly became old. "Who in the world could do that?

With a shrug, the young man began to eat, thankful that earlier he was not really old. But if what he saw was from the future somehow, he had to grin at how even at that age, his brown hair still looked great.

The young 24 year old man stood roughly five foot nine and had gorgeous blue eyes. In fact, just about everything about him was gorgeous. Neat gorgeous brown hair with bangs that separated in the middle. His face had many handsome features, the only downside about his body was mainly how much hair he grew on his face. He almost always had to shave every morning a very thick and yet thin layer of hair.

He continued his meal, the tv now turned on to a channel that was talking about the Stonehenge over in England somewhere. But Ryder wasn't paying much attention, his gaze kept lingering towards the window where the shadow had disappeared. He had seen only one thing and it was beautiful eyes that shone like emeralds.

They held such beauty, and yet, he could also see a deep sorrow, one that had been alone for many years. He felt sorrow too, knowing that being alone could be very painful. Since he was but a boy, Ryder had been afraid that he would forever be alone so the fact that there could be someone out there that felt such loneliness... He couldn't bear it.

"Well damn." Muttered Ryder as he stood up. He walked over to the window with glass of water in hand and took a drink while watching the stars. "I don't know why you're doing this and I don't care." he suddenly smiled and cocked his head oh so innocently. "I'll find you and become your friend, so that you will not be alone anymore." It may sound pathetic, but he knew that no one deserved to be alone.

He suddenly felt a dark presence behind him, one that made him sweat. Slowly, he turned to see a large monstrosity standing in his living room. His eyes went as wide as saucers he saw it. "Damn. You ugly."

It stood roughly eight feet tall with a face of a demon, it's eyes were entirely red with no pupils and the lipless mouth revealed sharp fangs. It's skin a vicious dark red and seemed extremely thick. On its head, two horns jutted out on either and curved upwards, making its bald head look like a demon pitch fork. It's hands too, were demonic with pitch black claws that would be able to slice his skin like nothing.

And yet while most would be terrified of the beastly thing staring him, Ryder did not move. He was afraid only one thing and he felt that all other things were nothing compared to it. All the while, he was unknowingly watched at a distance as he slowly turned to the 'demon.'

The dragon watched, bemused yet also surprised, as the human turned towards the illusion she had concocted just for him. "Wonder what you're going to do now, brave little -"

Ryder charged at the monster, his fist raised. The demon roared, raising its own clawed fist to counter his own. "Come on then!" Ryder roared, throwing his fist at the demon. The demon too, threw its fist. " Show me what you got!"

Then their fists collided, the demon exploding in a cloud of very thin smoke that caused the young man to jump back. "What the heck?" Then it smacked him hard. "Another illusion? Why?"

Her tail twitched, a frown creasing her long face. The human was...intriguing to say the least. Instead of running in fear as she hoped, the man only fought back, breaking her fear illusion. Perhaps she was growing rusty?

The dragon shook her head. No, course not. How could she when she has been doing this for centuries now? She turned her emerald green eyes back at the human, thinking of a new strategy to use.

"Well shit, now I know why dad gave it to me so eagerly." Ryder muttered as he turned back to the window. "But give me all you got, I'll face each one of your challenges."

He sat there for several moments then turned with a sigh. He was getting tired and it was late as well. With a yawn, the man made his way upstairs and readied himself for bed. But as he brushed his teeth, now in nothing more then pj bottoms, he saw a faint white light pass by the door.

Placing the brush down, Ryder opened the bathroom door slowly. In the hall, he watched as something darted into a open door. Without hesitation, the man followed but stopped at the door when he saw a middle aged woman stood in the middle, floating like she was in water. Her entire body was translucent and seemed to glow a faint white light.

But the fact was what really horrified him the most. He knew this woman, she had died over nine years ago protecting him from a murderer.

"M-Mom?!" He stuttered out, taking a step back. At the sound of his voice, the woman turned to face him with the same eyes as his own.

"Why did you not run?" She asked, voice sounding as though it was in a distant cave. "Why did you not run when I told you to Ryder?"

Ryder took a step back when his mother turned to him, the half of her face he could not see earlier was covered in blood. A large cut embedded for eternity. His face was filled with fear and sadness and he stumbled back as she walked towards him.

"No. Please, no" he cried, tears streaming down his face. "Don't do this please. I beg you."

In the distance, the dragon smiled once more. This was more like it. She wanted him to feel afraid and she wanted to watch him scream as he ran. This was her land, and no human was going to take it from her.

"Why did you not run?!" The woman cried once more, getting closer and closer to Ryder. "Why did you not run my son? It's your fault why I was killed!" With scream, the woman dashed at him and Ryder too screamed, raising his fist once more. Like the demon, the woman vanished in a puff of smoke.

Ryder stood there trembling as his fist was lowered. But then he shot his head up and ran to the window, where he threw it wide open and shot his head out. "Just keep them coming!" He yelled to the dark forest out there. "No matter what you do, I'm not leaving. I won't let you live alone. I saw your eyes! They were filled with pain and sadness and even loneliness! I won't let you be alone anymore!" Then he slammed it shut, turning to leave.

He stopped however, when he saw a shape fly high into the night sky and disappeared in the distance. His fist suddenly clenched and he watched it disappear. "Even if you aren't human." Then he went to bed, quickly falling asleep.

The next morning, Ryder awoke early and felt like shit. The previous nights events took a major toll on his mind and body. He sure as hell hoped things would be different today but he highly doubted it.

Going to the kitchen, he quickly made breakfast and ate it just as fast. As he ate, he looked up towards the sky where he saw the shape fly off. He hoped he would be able to find...whatever it was that has been trying to scare him away.

To be honest, Ryder had heard of a rumour about the property he had gained, but he didn't pay much attention. Now he wished he had as he threw a coat on and walked outside towards the forest. Since he was a boy, Ryder had learned to hunt wild game such as deer and curtains birds.

So it was no surprise when he found a foot print resembling a strange animal he knew should not be living in this area. In fact, by the looks of it, it was like it belonged to a reptilian. He never knew that reptiles could live in this part of the country as 3/4 of the time the land was covered in snow.

"Could it be... A dragon? No, not possible." He muttered, standing up. He looked up to see the footprints leading away from his home and into the forest. Of course, Ryder followed the trail only to see that it stopped on a hill.

Turning around, Ryder was amused to see hi home far below, a clear view of his living room from here. "A clever little place." He smiled, turning to follow the trail once more. He came across yet another small clearing, this one a clear view into the room with the 'ghost.'

It was here where he lost the track too, by the looks of it, he lost it because it took off into the air. The ground was torn up, as though it had to get a running pace just to fly. Yet he was surprised at the idea that it had four legs when most birds had only two. "Damn it. Now for the hard part." He swore as he turned to where the creature flew off. Ryder went off, making sure he had plenty of water on him as he went.

It was hours later when he found the tracks once more. Looking up, Ryder watched as the prints lead up a small mountain, probable a thirty-five minute climb just to get to the top. Yet this did not deter him and he started the climb.

Ryder expected the 'nest,' if you will, to be located near the top. He was surprised to see that he was wrong when he came across a small cave. Looking down, he watched as the trail lead into the cave.

Now determined, Ryder made his way inside, traveling for a short distance. He whipped out a small flashlight when it became too dark to see. With a scratch on the back of the head, he walked into a larger cavern. He didn't really know what he was expecting but it sure as hell was pretty empty. Shining the light around, Ryder found a small pile of jewels and accessories. But what caught his eye was an old scroll

Grabbing it, Ryder unrolled it and was surprised to see a impressive drawing of a handsome young man hugging a dragon around the neck. The dragon seemed like any generic one he had seen on the Internet. One that had two horns that curved upwards, a long muzzle, an equally long tongue like that of a snake and small horns hat went down its spine.

Smiling, he rolled it back up and placed it back down. It was then that he heard a snort. Grabbing his flashlight once more, he spun about and prepared himself for the worst. Nothing was there and he relaxed, lifting his light up to reveal the edge of what appeared to be a rather large bird nest.

Going higher, he stopped when he came across a small thin and flexible tail covered in small black scales. He followed the tail, soon revealing the rump of the creature. Here he blushed, his gaze lingering on the sex of the female dragon before he went higher to reveal the dragon from the picture, her body covered by one of her large wings.

After that, turned tail and ran from the cave. His face beat red from what he did. The simple fact about Ryder was that he was...a bit of a pervert when it came to dragons. Almost as soon as he saw the dragon, dirty thoughts went through his mind and he sure as hell did not want to be there when the dragon awoke.

But besides the dirty things he liked that was on the Internet, he also believed some of the 'dragon eats human for breakfast' things. That alone should explain why he was running when he got a peek of her sex.

It was some time later, now late afternoon, when he burst through his back door breathless and out of water. Walking into the kitchen, he drank several cups of water to restore what moisture he lost with in his body. Afterwards, he splashed several handfuls of cod water on his face.

"Hokey, okay." He said, leaning forward and placed his elbows on the counter. "So lets see... You discovered that a dragon is living in your back yard, you now know that it's female, and that you caught a glimpse of said females certain body parts. What are you going to do about it."

"How about you do nothing and let me eat you?" Growled a voice from behind. Ryder went rigid at the voice and slowly spun around only to curse his luck when he saw the black dragon from the cave standing behind him. The dragon grinned wickedly, her sharp fangs showing themselves to the human. How did it get in without making a sound?

"So you caught a glimpse of a woman's most prized treasure. How dare you think you could get away without being punished?" The dragon laughed, taking a step forward with a hiss. Ryder pressed himself against the counter behind him, a loud audible gulp being heard.

Outside, the REAL dragon watched from the forest, shocked at what was transpiring. The human had seen her, hell he caught a good glimpse by the sound of what his fearful mind was producing. And she sure as hell wasn't expecting him to be afraid of being caught taking a peak at her...

The dragon felt her face flush at what she realized.

"P-Please!" Stammered Ryder in a fit of fear. "Have mercy! I beg you!" The dragon seemed to think for only a few moments as the man fell to his knees before replying with a sneer.

"I will be merciful human..." She began, causing the man to sigh with relief and he slowly began to relax. His eyes went wide however, when she suddenly hissed. "...by making it quick and painless!" Then she pounced.

With a loud yelp, Ryder ducked under the dragon as she smashed into the sink. Sending both the cup and the bottle he had placed there flying. The man jumped to his feet and ran for the kitchen door, only to be knocked down by the black dragon before he could reach it.

Looking up, his eyes went wide with fear when he saw her rear her head up and open her mouth full of razor sharp teeth. He squeezed his eyes shut when she shot her head down toward his throat, expecting to fee the pain as it was ripped from his body.

After a moment, he opened his eyes when no pain was felt. Like the ghost and demon before, this was nothing more then an illusion. But this did not help at all for he now knew that the dragon knew.

"So let me get this straight." Said a feminine voice from behind him. He looked up to see the REAL dragon standing above him. "You became afraid of me because you saw my sex?" Ryder whimpered a pathetic yes and the dragon shook her head.

"You have got to be one of the strangest humans I have ever had the misfortune of meeting." She muttered at him as he stood up.

Ryder blinked when he stood up to his full height. Suddenly bending down, he measured the dragoness properly by using his hands. That only confirmed his suspicion, the dragon only stood up to his waist line.

"Your short." He said plaintively.

"I AM NOT SHORT YOU BASTARD!" she roared angrily, causing the man to fall on his ass. He brought his one hand up defensively while the other propped himself up.

"Okay okay, your not-"

"Don't even say it human." The dragon hissed, interrupting him quite easily.

"Alright, I get it!" He mumbled. The next part he said under his breath. "No need to be a bitch about it."

"I heard that!" She yelled, edging closer towards the man, her fangs bared. He gave a eep and held both hands out at her and she blinked. "Wait, why am I arguing with you?"

"Because I called you-" he began, only to jump when she interrupted him with yet another sharp hiss. This time he got brave,

"Okay, you know what, I'm sick of this myself. Why the hell are you trying to get rid of me?" Ryder asked her, placing his hands on his hips, his eyes squinting at her angrily. The dragon gave a hmph and sat down.

"Because I want no human on my land." She said with a straight face. This only made Ryder confused.

"And may I ask why?" He asked, his blue eyes wandering over her body. Her scales were as dark as obsidian and seemed to shine brightly in the sunlight. His eyes traveled towards where her tail was but it quickly whacked him. Ryder rubbed his cheek as he turned back to her emerald green eyes, her clawed fingers indicating towards them.

"Eyes up here boy. You already seen enough down there." He blushed profusely at that remark. "As to your question, I hate you humans." She stood up and began to walk menacingly towards him, causing the human to back up until he was pressed against the counter once more. Here she hopped up, her forepaws on either side of him so that she was level with his eyes. All the while she continued on.

"I despise you, hate you, reject you, wish you all to die." The last bit was said in a voice filled with hate, causing Ryder to flinch.

"Why?" He asked in a whimper. The dragon blinked, the question catching her off guard.

"Why?" She mumbled. "WHY?! Because all you humans do is destroy, kill and hurt! That is all you do! Nothing is safe, even by your so called environmentalists and peacekeepers!" She brought her face close to his. "Anything you cannot understand... You destroy."

Ryder gulped, but felt there was one thing she needed to know. "There is one thing you are wrong about." He muttered, looking her in the eyes. She gasped when he suddenly wrapped his arms around her, placing his head gently on her shoulder. "there are those that wish to befriend such things lady."

They sat there for several moments, Ryder holding her gently. She shuddered at the touch, not really knowing if she liked it or hated it.

"You... Wish to become my friend?" She asked slowly. Ryder only nodded into her shoulder once. "Then...here's what I think about your so called 'friendship!'"

Then she bit down onto his shoulder hard. Her teeth ripping through his shirt and flesh like it was nothing and the dragon didn't stop until she felt her gums touch his skin. Blood splattered into her mouth and poured out and down the mans body.

"YOU BIIIIIIIITTTCCCHH!" He howled in pain.

Notes:

Always wanted to make a cliffhanger like this. :P

Anyways, I decided to take a break from my previous story series for now (mainly writers block sorry! DX) I believe though that this first parter was the reason for it so hopefully I'll be able to get back on track with it out of my head so expect more from The Steele Saga.

Also, I'll fix any mistakes I've made on the story and ill go over it later. Sorry if there are a lot of them, but I'm tired and everything is kinda blurry right now.

*crawls into bed and goes under blankets* see y'all later.
